She knew it. The girl shot down all her ideas. Blair was such a goody-too-shoes. Whatever she had in mind, Poppy hoped it was good or at the very least funny. People must find it amusing. She watched as the girl typed in a searched. The images that turned up brought a satisfied smile on her face.
"My, my, my now that's what I'm talking about." Poppy stared at the images of BBC' Moriaty from Sherlock. The show was addictive and she loved it so very much. She had followed the series since the day it first aired. "Oh god, I love this show! Season three's ending...damn. And they made us wait way too long." She grew fond of the character, Moriaty.
When it was revealed that there was a possibility he might not be dead, Poppy was thrilled. She wanted to reach into the screen and grabbed his face and kiss him all over. "Who doesn't enjoy bad guys coming back from the dead, am I right? Let's do it."

She jumped at the reaction she received. Poppy's oh-so-cool facade dropped for a moment to reveal... her inner fangirl, could it be? It was contagious. Blair felt giddy--not over her approval but over their common interest. "Tell me about it! Absolute torture... long enough for tumblr's memes of it spread." The wait was still fresh in her mind. Every time news of the series came out, she obsessed over it--it was tiring.
The two girls talked while they went through each computer, setting each screen saver to Andrew Scott's beautiful face. "I love villains! Not only do they get the best lines, their backstories are awesome." Of course, she adored the heroes too but anything with a strong personality is great.
So busy with their chatter as they were, they almost did not notice footsteps approaching. But Blair had sensitive hearing. "Someone is coming." To her surprise, she was actually smiling about this. The risk creates a stronger thrill. She could not remember the last time she lived but that motto. Still, she did not want to get caught. What was the fun in that? "We should get out of here..."

Poppy squealed when she learnt that Blair too followed the series. Not many she knew watched it. She did not know many fangirls in Kalispell. Well that may be the result of her inactive social life, but Tumblr existed for a reason. There she fangirled with other users, if not then Coca-Cola would here all about it. "Oh I remember all kinds of theory that Tumblr came out with over the years." Poppy chuckled as she remembered how deep fans would delve into it.
She had a very entertaining time putting Andrew Scott's face on each computer screen and talking about the show with Blair. "Oh, did you remember in season 2 when he tried to set Sherlock up and made it look like he was a fraud? Genius!" It was strategic and very smart on Moriaty's part. The fandom exploded on Tumblr.
They were so engrossed in their conversation, she did not realize someone was coming. Luckily, the girl did and she was smiling. It looked like she was finally warming up to her. Poppy was glad the girl was having some fun in this. "Come on," she said as she took a seat in front of a computer. "The trick is," she started to explain when she saw the astonished look on Blair's face, "to get caught." A smirk formed on her lips as she Google searched 'nae nae' simce that was the first thought that crossed her mind. A man entered the room, looked up from his phone and then went straight to a computer. "Not a teacher," she whispered.

Over the years... Yes, it took them that long. One theory even suggested that Sherlock was part of the fake death. He faked his own, why not Moriarty's as well? Blair liked this theory best. She wondered if the producers really had no explanation in plan and just gave the fandom a number of years to figure it out for them. Strategic. She fangirled along with Poppy at the reminiscence. There was not much considering one season only had three episodes and there were only a handful of seasons so far.
They had similar views up until Poppy sat down in front of a computer. Blair made a face at her advice but followed nonetheless. She seemed more experienced. "Okay, shifu." The newcomer barely paid them any attention at their totally inconspicuous behaviour. As casually as possible, Blair started to walk out of the lab, her accomplice trailing behind her.
Once outside though, she started snickering again. They had set the timer for the screen savers fairly short so if the stranger was inactive for even a minute, Moriarty would appear to ask him if he was missed.

She followed behind Blair as she walked out the computer lab. The two girls came out giggling and snickering at the thought of what they had just done. "Ah! I wish I could see the look on their faces when Moriaty pops up." Poppy covered her mouth to contain her excitement. There was a small chance that anyone would even understood the reference but nonetheless, it was worth it. "Come on," she said. Their laughter carried through the halls as they made their escape from the crime scene. The laughter continued even when they had reached the courtyard, where she first met little miss accuser.
"Kid, that was good." She nodded in approval. At least Blair knew how to have fun when she did not have to play by the rules. "So, what do you have next?" Poppy wanted more. Changing screen savers to a villain's face was fun but it did not feel like the way to end the day. It was like a prank from a compilation of pranks that had to be carry out for the day. The trick on the new staff was fun, but she wanted to pull another one with Blair. See how much she could stomach it. "Is there...I don't know. Anyone in particular in mind? Someone you hate?" She looked carefully at Blair's expressions.

She was having such a good time that she she almost forgot that they got off on the wrong foot. Sometimes, first impressions last forever, and sometimes, first impressions are wrong. Poppy happened to be quite a delight to be around once she stepped off her high horse. And Blair felt herself loosen up. It was nice to do something different for once. Each day had been the same recycled thing recently and Poppy was a breath of fresh air--not like the drug.
Then she wanted to pull another prank. Blair did not mind that at all and was actually excited to. Still laughing, she replied, "How about all three?" That put an end to her good mood. Gosh, why did the thought of him always seem to do that? Ugh, the universe hates me--or it just does not care.
The girl looked down at her feet, unable to meet Poppy's eyes. Prank Lister? She admitted it was very tempting... But she had never played a prank based on a personal reason. It made the joke feel somewhat biased. But again, it was tempting... "Well, there is this one guy... Lister. He stays in Room 202. But I don't know... Should we?"

Poppy was excited to learn that there was someone. What more, someone who qualified for all three! The best part it was a boy. It seemed to her that the boy had both taken and broken Blair's heart. Meanie, she thought. Throughout her life, she had never been fixated on anyone. There were crushes, but none that blossomed into something more. It was her tendency to never get attached that cost her her social life -- but she liked to think that she did not need anyone else as long as she had herself then it would all be alright. She had fun pulling pranks on her own, did she not? Well, it was fun with Blair too and it was great to talk to her about their common interest -- BBC's Sherlock.
"So how about it kid?" Blair looked unsure and she was hesitating. The temptation and her conscience were equally strong. But Poppy knew better to act now before the conscience overrides the temptation. "Come on, don't you just want to...say or do something to him? This erm...Lister kid?" Her feet carried her to walk circles around Blair. "Didn't he hurt you? Don't you just feel so angry?" She let her words sink in. "Isn't it frustrating when he ignores you?" Whilst she may not knew much of Blair's history with the boy, Lister, but she did read books and romance books were not far off from reality. "Come on, Blair. Don't you want to show him that look, it's me! I'm here! I have feelings too, asshole!"

Poppy's words echoed in her head. Some of the things she said actually almost made Blair laugh. She does not even know Lister! She must be going on what one would learn from movies and books--fiction that was true enough for some. Is it so cliched that a third person could easily guess the situation? That is just sad. The ridiculousness of it really did make her laugh though.
But was it enough to pull a personal prank? Lister Reynolds. The first friend she made here at Bellefonte. The boy she developed a humongous crush on since day one. He broke her heart and then ignored her. She had been hung up on him for the past three years. Lister freakin' Reynolds. "Hell yes. Let's do it."
Blair started to lead the way to his dorm--which she knew because she was a complete creeper. Co-ed. He used to stay in a single-sex dorm. I know why he changed--for Benjamin. All he cares about is Benjaminhimself, really. Well, it was time for a little payback.
They encountered few people on the way to Room 202--it was still early. But upon reaching it, she realized something. How are we going to get in? Then she remembered that Lister always forgot to lock his door. Unless that changed recently, they would have no trouble entering--and it would not really be against any rules. Blair tried the the doorknob. "Shit," she cursed. "Locked." He learned. She turned to face Poppy. "What do we do now?"

If you thought she was excited then, she was hella excited now since Blair agreed to the prank. "This is going to be exciting!" she exclaimed. The fact that her guesses were spot on close to the truth, it hit the mark she intended. Proudly, she gave herself a mental pat on the shoulder. Thank you books.
Poppy gladly followed the girl as she lead them to the victim's dorm. Of course being a student at Bellefonte and had lived in its hostel, she would have known where to go. But instead, she let Blair be in control and do as she pleased because this prank meant something more to her than it ever will to Poppy. Just another prank for her, but possibly a huge step -- backward or forward? -- on Blair's relationship with Lister.
A smirk formed at the mentioning of a locked door. "Kid, okay I don't have my bobby pin right now...Is anyone inside?" That possibility never even occured to her. "Forget it, lets risk it. Stay here." Poppy commanded her before rushing to her own room. Taking what she needed with her, she rushed back to Blair.
"Should have never forgoten these." She showed the bobby pins she had taken. Being the prankster that she was, Poppy had learnt many tricks from other delinquents. One of them just so happened to be unlocking a door. Once unlocked, the two girls rushed in. "So what will it be, Blair?"

Blair felt awkward just standing there outside the room while the older girl ran off to her room for bobby pins. How many times had she stood here before? Always tempted to knock and talk with Lister but never enough nerve to do it. Now she stood there again, not to talk but for her actions to speak for themselves. You hurt me.
Poppy returned and started to pick the lock. Blair was too lost in the clouds to question the morality of their actions. Yes, what shall we do to him? What prank could convene the message Lister refused to hear? Inside the room, she looked around.
Hm... Duct tape the furniture to the ceiling? Pour jello powder into the toilet bowl? Replace the cream of Oreo cookies with toothpaste? Mix glue in with the shampoo? Wrap everything in newspaper? Throw toilet paper around? The choices was endless and frankly, she wanted to do them all. An evil-ish grin crept to her lips. This will be fun.
The girl forced herself to calm down her heart rate. But in that moment she heard something--the soft breathing of someone asleep. Lister. Her eyes moved to his room. Being near him did what even rule-breaking could not--her nerve faltered.
"No," the word came out in a whisper. Blair swallowed and said more clearly, "No. I cannot do this." She shook her head softly.

Her mind was filled with multiple and different ideas all jumbling in there at once. If I was heartbroken by a boy, what would I do as payback? She questioned herself. Of course she would not know the specific answer to it because a boy never got the chance to break her heart. With the books and movies she had read and watched, she knew everyone had different ideas of revenge. But what Blair said next was nothing of what she thought.
"No? B-b-bu, no! No, no, no. Kid, no. What happened? Look we just picked the lock. No biggy. That isn't much big of a crime really." Poppy took the girl by the shoulders and forced her to stop shaking. "This guy is an asshole. He made you hurt, didn't he?" she said as she looked at Blair in the eyes.
What she saw pained her a little. You're still into him. The look on the girl's face showed Poppy that Blair was still longing for the boy -- and the girl did not even know it. It could also be the fact that they were in his dorm. As a desperate attempt, she turned off the gravity on a couple chair in the room. "Look, we can duct tape their stuff to the ceiling. It'll be troublesome for them to get it back down...Blair?"

Even she seemed to understand something was off. Blair agreed with everything she said except the last one. Yes, he is a complete asshole. Yes, he hurt me. But no, we should not duct tape their stuff to the ceiling. Still, she could not help but laugh a little. That was exactly one of the things she thought of doing. She looked at the chairs floating around them.
The boy was still sleeping in his room--never one to wake early, it seemed. That had not changed. Her heightened sense of smell allowed her to detect a faint hint of citrus--a scent she forever associated with him. Damn, my life sucks. She really did not want to rain on Poppy's parade--she really was a cool person. It was possible for Poppy to just pull the prank by herself but Blair did not want that either.
Maybe it was because she still liked Lister. Or perhaps it was her goody two shoes side acting up again. Whatever it was, if anything happened here, it would be on her hands. This was personal.
"No," she said again. "He is not worth it." At first, this was just to convince Poppy, but maybe it was true too--maybe. "Let us just get out of here..."

The girl was confused. Confused in love? Whatever it was, Poppy looked at her with a hint of pity. It was a shame for someone like Blair -- someone who seemed full of life, even though a little leaning towards the goody too shoes side, and she had only known her for a couple of hours -- to be shattered over a boy. That may not even be the case and Poppy's assumption could just be wrong, but it sure looked like it to her.
She took another look at the room with the floating chairs. "It would be really funny..." she whispered. Chairs on the ceiling. Pens, chargers, lamps on the ceiling. It would all be upside down for the boy. When he wakes up and come out of his room, the sight of ot would definitely be a shock. Not just to him, but to his dormmates as well. Then perhaps they would put their heads together and try to think of the culprit and maybe even start to plot their own prank.
They may or may not. Poppy would not know because her accomplice had decided not to follow through. With a last look at the room and at Blair, she sighed and let the chairs down. "Okay. Okay. If you're sure, kid, lead the way."

Blair saw the pity in those brown eyes and felt conflicted about that too. Usually she would feel somewhat offended--she did not need anyone's pity. But coming from Poppy, she did not mind it for some reason. This was a girl who seemed to not care for any other person but here she was possibly trying to understand why Blair did what she did. That is nice.
And thank goodness she decided not to go through with the prank. Blair had no idea how she could stop the older and more powerful girl. Sure this whole scene about being the bigger person was majestic and all but realistically, she had no chance against Poppy. So of course he was grateful that it would not come to that.
Blair led the way out, relocking the door behind them. The two walked back out of the building, back to where they first met.
"I am sorry, Poppy," she finally said, breaking the silence. She meant it too. It would have been a funny prank. And they went so far just for her to chicken out at the last minute. All that nerve... worked up for nothing. It was almost regrettable. She really wanted Poppy to like her, she realized. Who would not want a friend like her? "I hope this does not ruin your day."

Silence had fallen during their walk out of the untouched and prank-free dorm of Room 202. Blair made her decision and stuck to it. Despite knowing the possibility Poppy could just come back and do the prank on her own, her decision was not swayed. Poppy realized that she admired the girl for it. She made no plans to return because what for really. This was Blair's prank in a way. It was not hers. Besides making someone's morning unbearable, that was just it. She would get her usual thrill but she could always pull in on someone else instead.
It felt different. The whole thing felt different to Poppy. Normally, she would be furious when somebody backed out of anything -- especially a prank with her. All the planning, energy, built up had gone to waste. This was one of the reasons she did not bother on making friends and very much preferred to be on her own.
When the two girls had stopped walking and Blair apologized, she realized she was not annoyed or angry at all. I'm okay. "Hey kid, don't worry about it. We'll get him or someone else another day, right?" She gave a playful punch on the arm and smiled. "Besides, I had a good day thanks to you. You're pretty cool, ki-- Blair. More than just some goody too shoes."
