MISC: Probably the most defining thing about my style is my issue with sleeves. Either they’re long, or I don’t have any. I hate short sleeve shirts- they just feel wrong. Otherwise I dress a lot like anyone else does I guess. I love jeans for the most part and enjoy wearing button-up shirts. Not the most exciting style of dress, I know, but it’s mine and I can work it.
Besides, I get to wear my crazy clothes when I’m home. I have this one enormous splatter-paint hoodie that Kiki got me. I always wear it to bed and that’s about it.
PERSONALITY: Usually the word “bubbly” is the first thing that people think of to describe me. What can I say? I like being happy! Even if I don’t feel it, I usually wear a smile on my face until it actually feels real. You know that saying “fake laughter will eventually turn into real laughter given enough time?” That’s basically the motto I live off of.
Although don’t get me wrong, I’m not a bubbly airhead flitting from here to there. I am extremely motivated when I want to do something and sometimes even when I don't. It’s a trait that’s gotten me through many of the hardships in my life. It’s also a trait that can sometimes get me into the hardships in my life. I prefer the former though.
I’m also not afraid to get dirty, which might sound weird. I like taking a hands-on approach to everything. Even if I’m wearing a white shirt, I’m likely to get into the mud if the situation calls for it. Dirt doesn’t scare me, and actually I usually enjoy it. I’ve grown up outside for all my life basically. If anything’s super squeaky clean it kind of freaks me out.
I guess that kind of explains why I can be a bit of a “wild child” sometimes. I’m not that bad, I swear. However there are times I’ll get in trouble because I love the thrill of things. Sure that can be bad and sometimes even dangerous for me, but I love it anyways. I’m the type of person who wants to ride all the roller coasters at a theme park six times just because I can’t get enough of that feeling.
SECRET(S): I’m obsessed with painting, drawing, or anything like that. If you ever need help painting, I’m your girl.

CHILDHOOD: I’m actually from Kalispell. Well ok not the Kalispell, but I grew up right next door to the town if you count a few miles. My parents had grown up next door to each other. According to mom they were actually really good friends. My dad was the troublemaker, although my mom could hold her own. They have a few pictures together that are really cute. They started dating in high school and ended up going to the same college. When they went to medical school they had to switch to a long distance relationship, but through it all they managed to come back after so many years and get married. It was a really sweet story, and I’m still amazed they managed something like that. I don’t think I ever could.
Anyways, that’s where my story begins. Well actually my sister Kiki was born first, then I came along. She still lords the year over me. It’s not even a full year, it’s only a couple months. However I’m getting off track. We lived in my mother’s family home since it was the perfect size for our family. Sure it wasn’t big or anything, but I spent most of my time outside anyways. I love the outdoors, and almost always came home covered in dirt and twigs from my explorations. Mom had to clean my clothes so many times, and occasionally she’d simply buy new ones because they’d get so filthy. Eventually I had two separate types: “work” clothes and “play” clothes. Needless to say the play clothes saw a lot more use.
Kiki wasn’t as adventurous as I was, but she would come with me from time to time. I think it was more so she could make sure I didn’t get hurt, which I really appreciate now that I think back on it. We weren’t exactly the most similar of siblings, but Kiki was always there for me.
ADOLESCENCE: High school was a weird time for me. I fondly refer to it as “the Dark Age.” It’s probably because of puberty; that usually messes everyone up. I had my own group of friends to hang out with. They were the “rowdier” kids or the more “artistic” bunch. I gravitated more towards them because I always loved art. There was something about drawing that I loved, even though i shudder whenever I look at my old pictures now. I especially loved painting, and can recall a few times I went over board with it. Someone took a picture of the one time I spilled the red paint everywhere. Instead of acting like a normal teenager and helping clean up, I ended up finger painting the rest of my assignment. I ended up getting a B, which was surprising.
I’ll admit my parents weren’t exactly thrilled to find out I wanted to be an artist. it was hard making a life out of that. However I was very determined to do it, so they ended up supporting me instead. It was really nice, because I know it’s not the idea job parents would want for their kid. There’s barely any real chances for good income, but they cheered me on anyways. I can’t thank them enough nowadays.
My sister was a big supporter too. Although I think she just used me for the Halloween costume contests sometimes. We would go as the craziest stuff, and I’m proud to say we won most years. I still say senior year was a popularity contest. The student council president won, and her costume we nothing in comparison to our. However I’m not one to hold grudges. Unless I know it was rigged. Which that totally was.
At any rate, Kiki and I ended up going to the same college in Kalispell. She was going to become a special education teacher. She loved working with kids, and I often helped her out at some of the volunteer events she went to. She was really good at it, and honestly sometimes she made me want to work with kids. they were all so cute and so full of energy. I know for some people that kind of thing would drive them crazy, but I enjoyed it. Little did I know that would come in handy.
ADULTHOOD: While in high school things got weird, college was where things simply happened. There’s no other way to really describe it. I loved college though. It was so much fun and I had an even bigger friend group of people who wanted to do the exact same thing as me. It was awesome finding people with the same passion. We made a lot of cool things, and one painting still proudly hangs in a frame back in my parents’ house. It’s an oil painting I made of one of the lakes nearby. It took me forever to make but I love it, and got an A+ for it.
The work part of school was going great, but the social part was where things “happened.” Mainly, I hooked up with someone at a party and got pregnant. That whole night is kind of a blur. It was out at someone’s house I knew late at night. More people came over than expected so I guess word got out about it somehow. I had been drinking and before I knew it I was waking up next to this random guy I’d never met. I was kind of scared, to be honest. I left before he even woke up and hightailed it out of there. I called my sister later and met her in one of the restaurants. I was more than a little bit of a mess. I know hearing about some hook up doesn’t seem like that big of a deal, but I’d never expected to do anything like that. She helped calm me down, although a few months later I had to call her again.
My parents weren’t very happy when they got the news, but once again they were supportive. I was scared but as time went on the feeling faded. Originally I was going to put the baby up for adoption, but in the end I decided to keep her. Sure I had a lot of work ahead of me to take care of a baby when I was still in college, but I was determined to make things work. I ended up getting a job to help pay for little Angie. My professors and friends were all really helpful and nice about what I was going though. Angie became a bit of a group favorite anyways. We basically set up a babysitting circle between all of us on who would care for her during what class. Through all the trials and difficulties, I managed to graduate with my degree and my daughter. I was feeling pretty good about myself.
Kiki helped me find a good apartment in Kalispell to live in with Angie now. One of my friends from college also helped me get a job working as a concept artist for a gaming studio, which I truthfully was not expecting but it’s a pretty fun job. They let me work from home too, which is an added bonus since I can be with my little Angie. I still work another job so we can get more income for her education, but I’m extremely thankful my friend put in a good word for me. As for me, I’m content. Although my sister still wonders if I should ever contact Angie’s father. I wouldn’t even know where to look now that Kalispell’s turned into such a bustling place. That and I’m a little afraid if I do. I have no idea what the guy would say if one day I found him and went, “Oh hello. You have a daughter.” I think this is for the best.
