Tiana Meldonna Jackson
FACE CLAIM: Frankie Sandford/Bridge
---------------------------------
AGE: 18
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Unsure
POSITION: Bellefonte Student
POWER: Super Agility
Tiana’s own abilities allow her body to be extremely limber and lets her reaction time be much quicker than a normal human's. She is able to perform feats of acrobatic prowess that exceed many accomplished circus aerialists. She is also able to match highly skilled contortionists in terms of flexibility, and has an extraordinary sense of balance. Her reaction time also allows her to dodge incoming objects and respond to stimuli far more quickly (Expanded in Limitations).
Tiana’s abilities are mainly due to her mental and physical capabilities. Her heightened reaction time is due to her brain synapses firing far faster than an average human and relaying the body’s “messages” to react to outward stimuli at a swifter rate. Her flexibility is due to increased elasticity in her tendons and connective tissue, while her amazing balance is due to an exceedingly strong sense of proprioception; the sense of where one’s body is in space. (i.e.: awareness of where your hand is).
LIMITATIONS (As applied to Tiana):
- Can’t react as fast as someone with specifically heightened reflexes (i.e.: Super or hyper reflexes)
- Can’t dodge everything (i.e.: a bullet from a gun)
- Can’t dodge something she’s completely unaware of (i.e.: getting hit in the back in her blind spot with no sound clues)
- Can’t move as fast as someone with super speed. Her abilities let her move faster than normal, but not nearly as fast as super-swift mutants
- Removing her sense of sight and/or hearing can impair the heightened reaction time
- Can shift bones and such with reactive ease when performing acrobatic tricks, but it can still be painful if she strains herself
- Can still tear tendons and injure tissue despite increased elasticity
- Abilities are confined solely to the user’s body. They can’t be passed onto others by any means of the user (excluding power mimics)
SIDE-EFFECTS (As applied to Tiana):
- Constant Ability: Ability can’t be turned off.
- Calorie Intake: An increased intake of calories is needed to match the amount of work the body does.
- Tendon Elasticity: The muscles of the user’s body must be stretched and exercised on a regular basis in order for the user’s ability to be at peak form.
- Dizziness: A constant or burst of stimuli (i.e.: multiple projectiles thrown towards Tiana) can make her dizzy, and in extreme cases give her a headache strong enough to knock her unconscious.
- Total Equilibrium: An extreme awareness of the center of mass and positioning of the user’s body. It makes it far harder to knock the user off balance.
- Extreme Flexibility: The user can perform extremely agile maneuvers with ease.
HEIGHT: 170.18cm (5ft and 7inches)
HAIR COLOR: Dark chocolate/Black
EYE COLOR: Dark brown
MISC: I guess you could say I wear what just about any other girl wears. Although to be fair I enjoy pants a lot more than I do skirts, but I think that may be due to my ability. I don’t want to have to deal with the whole “I see London, I see France,” business. It’s bad enough when I get to say “I’m extremely flexible” and that immediately grabs the attention.
Will I wear skirts and dresses? Definitely! I’m proud to say I look damn sexy in a dress, and I’m not about to give that up because of some pervs. Only I usually do keep it to when I know I’m not going to need to bend over or something like that. That tends to be special occasions or times when I just feel “pow!” You know what I mean?
PERSONALITY: How to describe me. Now that’s a tough one. I guess you could say I’m nice? I try to be; my mom always said it was important to seem open and be open to other people. I genuinely try! I like meeting new people and making friends just as much as the next girl. Do I stumble in this lesson? Well yeah I do, but I have a feeling everyone does. Besides if I was perfect I feel like it would be a little creepy.
That’s probably a good thing to talk about; flaws. I’ve got a few. Like I’ve said I can be not-so-nice sometimes. I’ve been told I can be cold when I’m pissed or when things don’t go my way. My argument is; who isn’t like that when their plans go haywire? We’d all love it to be “my way or the high way,” but this is reality so things tend to get a little messed up.
I guess if we’re talking flaws then I should mention I can be a bit of a bitch sometimes. Not only that but a sarcastic bitch. It’s gotten me into trouble with my mom more than a few times since we both have a tendency for passive aggressive insults. Eventually they could erupt into a screaming match if we didn’t clear the air between us or take a break from each other. Does that mean I have a temper? A little. I try to control it, but what can you do?
What else? I don’t want to sound like a complete jerk. I do have a sense of humor. I’m not serious all the time! The cold part of me only comes out when someone manages to piss me off, I swear. Other times I’m usually smiling to myself or to others. Like I said, I try to be nice. Sometimes I fail.
SECRET(S): It still hurts to think about my bio dad, even if I was the one to cuss him out of the house. I love Tim I really do, but seeing my bio dad like that was hard. I hate bringing it up.

CHILDHOOD:
Now this is bound to be interesting. Alright let’s see.
I was born in West Palm Beach, Florida. However, growing up I only had my mother to raise me. My bio-dad, Connor, left my mom soon after he got her pregnant. We never saw or heard from him again. Although that hardly put a dent in my mom’s life or mine. In fact neither of us really ever wanted to see him again, but I’ll get to that later.
Life on our own was actually good, believe it or not. A lot of times you’ll hear about the “struggles of a single mother” but things between us were relatively chill. My mother worked as a hotel manager and I was more than happy to get out of her hair and learn. Even as a kid I really knew what I was on about and didn’t really get into any trouble. I was curious sure, but what kid wasn’t? Still I listened to my mom when she told me something and only argued when I felt I should. Sure sometimes that got us to butt heads since we were so alike, but considering that we did just fine. Besides, when I turned six she found Tim and everything went up from there. He was a great addition to our family and supported my mom even more, so naturally I liked him. That and the fact he was a lot more laid back with letting me bend the rules and sneak some treats.
Eventually when I was eight mom had Natasha. I was a little nervous at first because I wasn’t really sure what to expect. When I got to see my baby sister for the first time though, mom tells me I hogged her to myself. I can easily believe it.
ADOLESCENCE: Nothing really interesting happened after that. Although I did discover my love and knack for cooking. I used to watch cooking shows with Natasha all the time even if she couldn’t understand them. Half the time she’d just point at the television and go “Yum!” Still it was fun. Well, except for the time I broke the sink. We don’t need to get into that.
Aside from my culinary experiments, school was going great. Mom had always stressed that education was important, so that was really pounded into our heads. I was pretty smart so I could breeze through my classes. Surprisingly it was gym I was really good at. I was pretty fast and could dodge basically anything in dodgeball. My mom signed me up for gymnastics, but I only stayed for four years. It wasn’t really that fun for me, but I think it had more to do with the instructor than anything. She’d also signed me up for Tae Kwon Do as a way to protect myself. I never really took it seriously but it was actually fun unlike my gymnastics.
Anyways, a lot of stuff happened when I was fifteen. One night we were all eating dinner when my bio-dad showed up. Mom was freaking out and trying to get him out of the house while Connor was trying to make excuses and everything. I made Natasha hide upstairs. Unfortunately Tim was out late because of his shifts- he’s a nurse by the way- so it was just the three of us. I ended up cussing Connor out. I didn’t want him there! I didn’t want him yelling at my mom! He’d never been a part of my life and I was damn sure I didn’t want him to start. Things got violent and he tried throwing something at me. It was one of the plates from the dinner table. After that he ended up grabbing me. This was where things got weird.
Mom was screaming and trying to get him off me, while Connor was basically trying to choke me. I managed to kick him in the groin hard enough that he let me go. The weird part is that then I managed to kick him in the face and knock him out cold. I’m pretty sure I’d broken his nose that night. Now understand, Connor is around six feet, and I’m only five something. I shouldn’t have been able to kick that high considering how un-seriously I took tae kwon do, but I did. Once Connor was out we called the police and had him arrested. Luckily after that we never saw him again, but we did get other visitors.
Five days later these people came to our house saying I was going to an academy. As you could imagine my mother was less than pleased, and so was Tim. Hell, I was less than pleased. I didn’t want to leave, especially after my mom’s ex had come storming through the door. They weren’t taking no for an answer though, insisting I was something called a “mutant.” Tim was really defensive. I think he felt guilty for not being there when Connor appeared. Still, they insisted I had powers of some sort. Something called super agility? I mean that would explain how flexible I was, but my "power?" I really wasn't buying it, but eventually they started selling on the academics of the school. I think that's what got my mom to actually agree and let me go; not this "powers" and "mutant" nonsense but the fact I could get a better education.
As you could imagine I was clearly thrilled. Even if my mom gave the okay for it, I didn't want to leave. When I first arrived the academy seemed like a nightmare. Eventually things did get better, but I was pretty nasty during those first few months. However I definitely started to believe in powers only a few days in the academy. Some of these other kids had crazy powers. I got to watch this one girl turn into a cat! It was freaky as hell but you could color me a believer from then on.
ADULTHOOD: After I actually settled into the academy things got a lot easier. Even if I didn't really have a choice of attending, the academics there were great. I also could pursue my career as a chef, so that was a bonus. I kept in contact with my family the moment they were sure I wasn’t going to run away or have them sneak me out. I’m not sure that would’ve even worked anyways. The staff are mutants; it would be pretty hard escaping.
So I resigned myself to it and decided to use the school for all it was worth. I mean honestly, why not?
