Rachel Anne Nash
FACE CLAIM: Amy Lee
---------------------------------
AGE: 21
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Unsure
POSITION: College Student
POWER: Telekinesis and Spatial Awareness
Rachel’s own ability allows her to move objects with her mind. She is capable of lifting multiple objects at once, but has a maximum amount of objects she can handle levitating (Explained in Limitations.). She is also capable of lifting heavier objects, although usually she can only handle one exceedingly heavy object.
Rachel's secondary ability allows her to “feel” where objects are in relationship to her. With this, she is able to use her telekinesis to pick up objects without needing to look at them
Her ability depends upon her level of focus and mind power. Heavy objects (i.e.: a long table) require more focus while small objects (i.e.: a pop can) require hardly any focus at all.
LIMITATIONS:
- Number of manipulated objects varies with weight. Rachel can lift around 16 smaller items with relative ease. For heavier, medium weight objects (i.e.: a desk) that number is cut in half to 8. Exceedingly heavy objects (i.e.: a motorcycle) are limited to 1 or 2
- Can’t lift anything above the weight of a small car. If she tries Rachel will hurt herself and fall unconscious
- Focus required to lift objects depends on the weight and number. Heavier objects take more focus, while smaller objects take less. In similar fashion: more objects require more focus
- The range for both powers is approximately 25m (metes)
- The spatial awareness does not let Rachel identify which object she is picking up. It only lets her know an object is there, not what type or the detail of it (i.e.: unless she can visibly see it, she would not be able to tell the difference between a chair and a trash bin. It only lets her “feel” the object’s location in relation to her so her telekinesis could reach the item.)
- Her second ability is always on. She can’t turn it off
- While she may be aware of objects around her, Rachel can’t dodge a fast moving object (i.e.: a bullet) even if she can sense it
SIDE-EFFECTS:
- Mental Strain: High chance of passing out if the user attempts to lift an object too heavy for their power or tries to levitate too many items at once. Warning signs for Rachel approaching her limit comes in the form of a horrible headache and a nosebleed.
- SPRITE Effects: After SPRITE, Rachel’s powers increased to extend the range of her powers and the number or weight of items she could pick up while lessening the amount of focus required. However as a consequence she can unintentionally activate her powers to lift and move objects (i.e.: lifting a coffee mug while eating).
- Multi-task Mind: Due to the user’s ability to manipulate multiple objects and split their focus, the user has an easier time multi-tasking in day-to-day tasks.
- Chronic Headaches: Due to the mental strain the ability causes, the user will experience random headaches of varying intensities with little to no warning. These headaches can range from mild to migraine level and incapacitate Rachel for either half or an entire day.
- Frozen Telekinesis: The user will occasionally be unable to deactivate her kinetic ability on an object for a certain amount of time (i.e.: an hour or more). When this happens Rachel normally holds the item until her power shuts down, otherwise she would be revealed as a mutant if it occurs in public.
- Mental Vulnerability: Due to the user's dependence on the mind, mental attacks are much more dangerous. If someone distracts Rachel well enough (i.e.: makes her panic or a telepath assaults her mind), she will be unable to use her powers due to lack of focus.
HEIGHT: 170.18cm (5feet, 7inches)
HAIR COLOR: Ebony
EYE COLOR: Extremely light blue/green
MISC: Comfort is the only thing I care about, if I’m talking about my “fashion” sense. Skintight dresses? Hell no. Stiletto heels? Only if I really want to look good that day. Otherwise it’s jeans, baggy pants, tank tops, oversized hoodies, and anything else I can sit in for a few hours while binge watching Netflix or hanging around somewhere.
Although I like wearing corsets from time to time. Tried one on a few years back and liked how I looked with it on and a leather jacket. I save that sort of outfit for days I go out with friends and actually give more than half a damn on what I look like. I mean, I’ve got my own sense of fashion but I stick to it and don’t follow along with the “in season” sort of junk. Too much effort.
PERSONALITY: About me huh? Well the first thing most people notice is I’m a laid back kind of chick. There isn’t much out there that can rile me up. I’m proud of that. Usually I get labeled with a “laid back big sister” kind of personality. Honestly I think it’s fitting since I’m actually the eldest in my family. Go figure huh?
Apparently that makes me easy to talk to. I tend to like listening more than speaking anyways, so a lot of my conversations end up with me nodding my head from time to time. I only get chatty with my friends, and sometimes I think they’d rather I not be!
Speaking of friends, I guess you could say I’m friendly. I’m usually smiling and I genuinely like meeting new people. There’s very few people that I can’t get along with, mostly because I love people. People are fun and interesting to talk to, although I know there are some jerks out there.
If it wasn’t obvious, I’m a lover not a fighter. There’s only a few things that manage to make me angry enough to fight back. I hate confrontation. I’m more likely to leave a scene then continue arguing with someone. I don’t like dealing with it. The only case I’ve gotten in someone’s face was when they insulted a friend of mine. That’s a big no no. When I’m angry, I’m piss-your-pants terrifying.
Another thing I should mention is that people tend to think I don’t take anything seriously since I’m always so chill. Fact of the matter is, I do take a lot of stuff seriously. Only difference is; I approach almost everything calmly. It’s not that I don’t care, but rather that I don’t go into everything all grim faced and determined. I’ll likely go into everything with some kind of smile and joke around to break the tension. The few times I’m actually stoic and not smiling are usually not good times at all.
SECRET(S): I love bugs.Yeah, those creepy crawlies that make most girls and even guys squeal and scramble for a shoe? Love ‘em. I’ve got a pet tarantula named Bits that normally rides on my shoulder. She’s so cute!

CHILDHOOD: Childhood! Best years of my life! Ok that’s technically a lie; all the years of my life are the best. Still let’s start there.
I was born down in Danville, Kentucky. The lovely south US of A. Although I’m not really the “Southest of South.” My mom on the other hand was very much a southern belle. All high class, prim and proper; she practically oozed the southern hospitality you’d get when you came down. Which was why it was a wonder she fell in love with my dad in the first place! I love my dad I really do, but it’s still a mystery how they feel in love. My dad was a horse trainer working on his dad’s ranch. Somehow they met and my dad was so smitten with her. According to mom, it was the longest, goofiest courtship she’d ever seen.
However my mom eventually said yes and eventually I came along. Apparently I was actually a good kid. I didn’t cause too much of a ruckus and I loved hanging around with the horses on the ranch. The only thing I would do that tended to get on my mother’s nerves would be getting filthy. I was not afraid of the mud and rolling around in the grass with some of the other kids. The look on my mom’s face whenever I would try to go inside was hilarious. The one time she actually used a broom to keep me from getting inside until my dad grabbed me for a bath!
My sister Allie was born around that time too. We were really similar at first, but Allie was way smarter than me. I’m not afraid to admit that. The girl was a genius! No wonder she had super intelligence! Although I’ll get to that later. We would always do stuff together and Allie would be the one to get us out of trouble. We have a joke going that I was the one to find things to do, Allie the one to keep us from trouble, and Katie the one to scold us regardless. Katie definitely took after our mother. I always joke that she was born with her white dress already on so she could impress everyone. She’s a natural belle, although she’s a hell of a lot feistier than some people expect. That girl can talk circles around others, and you never can tell if she’s insulting you or not. I lived with her for years and I still can't! It’s priceless to watch her hold a conversation with someone she doesn’t like.
Eventually Bobbie came along too and we were all so excited! He was the only boy in our family, and downright adorable too. He’s still adorable and takes after our dad a lot. If anyone was going to take over the ranch it was going to be him. He was amazing with the horses, and could he ride fast! We all got a horse on our eight birthday. Mine was a brown stallion I named Bo-Peep. I had- and have- a weird sense of humor. However Bo was the tamest, kindest horse out of the lot. I got him when he was only a little colt and raised him since. The day he died was one of the saddest in my life.
ADOLESCENCE: When we were teenagers was when things got a little crazy. Some old family friends of our mother had a terrible accident and we ended up taking in their little girl named Astrid. She was really shy when she first came, but we tried our best to be welcoming. She was Bobbie’s age when she arrived, but we were a little more careful with her initially. I mean she’d only just lost her parents! You don’t get over that in a night. Eventually we started hanging out more and even managed to get her to join in some of our shenanigans.
However eventually things got really weird, because of course we had to manifest. The irony was, it happened within days of each other for us. I was sixteen when it happened; hanging out at school with a few of my friends. Out of nowhere I felt really weird and almost disconnected from my body. Then things around me started floating and it freaked out a lot of my friends. I got home fast with no idea what to do about what the hell had happened My parents were a little freaked out, with in all honesty was understandable. Allie was next, although it was far more subtle. We didn’t even realize it until the recruiters came. Katie probably had the worst of it. She came home from school the day after Allie with a massive headache. Apparently she could hear what everyone was thinking and couldn't block it off. The fact she'd had a weird experience only two days after mine only proved something was off with us. Needless to say, we were all freaked out, and to be honest pretty scared. Only a day after Katie’s manifestation did the recruiters come, so four days from mine.
It was the most bizarre encounter ever. Apparently we were an extremely rare case. Three mutants in one family that wasn’t even prominent with the gene? It was practically unheard of. Although we found out later that my dad’s family line actually had a ton of mutants in it. That was pretty cool to learn. My own grandfather was one! Anyways, there's a number of reasons that day stuck out to me. However the biggest had to be because it was the first time I’d seen my mother lose it. She did not want all three of her girls to suddenly go off to some academy she’d never heard of. It was my dad who remained the calm one this time. After a long chat and a lot of reassurances that we could see our family again, the three of us were sent off to Bellefonte.
It was definitely a lot different than what we were used to! The school was all fancy and actually had a great education system. Our own transition into the academy life was really easy. I think it’s because we were all there. We didn’t feel abandoned. Sure it was a little nerve-wracking at first but eventually we blended in and used the school for what it was worth. Allie wanted to be a teacher and Katie a nurse. Me? I was planning on doing something with music.
ADULTHOOD: Once we were settled in, things got a lot better. Although SPRITE happened and things got hectic when my powers increased. I still have to work on controlling it now. Anyways, I made my own group of friends and so did my sisters. We visited home constantly to make sure our mother didn’t go crazy. We also visited because we genuinely missed home. It was awesome seeing Bobbie and Astrid again. Truthfully we’re all watching Bobbie very closely. The age for manifestations typically begins at age fourteen, and since all three of us had gotten powers we were unsure if Bobbie would too. it would be great to see him, but I’m not sure if my mother could take him being carried off too. It was hard enough when we went.
Which was why it was hard for her when Astrid manifested too. Granted she wasn’t related by blood, but the coincidence of there being four mutants in a family was beyond bizarre. We had been so focused on watching for Bobbie to manifest, that we didn’t even consider Astrid possibly being a mutant too. It was nice to see her again, but at the same time I’m worried about how home is holding up. We all have our friend groups here and the weird “BA family,” but my own one back home is getting a hell of a lot smaller. I really hope Bobbie never manifests. I don't even want to think about what that would do to mom.
