"Seeee I told you if we went out early, we'd get the good candies!" The five year old boy dressed as a Jedi cried out proudly after receiving a couple big candy bars. It was the last day of the October month. The thirty first. Which meant all the kids were coming out to play and the supposedly haunting decorations were up. Halloween, one of little Trevor's favorite times of the year. Granted, the boy looked forward to almost anything.
The nineteen year old supposed that was the beauty of being a kid. Poppy Lockwood did not share her brother's enthusiasm. Speding most of her teenage years in Bellefonte, she rarely went out trick or treating. Partly because if she did so, she would be doing it alone because she did not have friends to do those things with. Besides that, whilst the students were out, she found it that was the perfect time to pull a prank.
"I think you meant you, Trev," she corrected him as they walked off the steps of the house and onto the next one. Even if she was not the one begging for candy, Poppy had the task to accompany her little brother as he did so. Not really one to dress up, but still in the spirit of Halloween, she draped on her red coat. For those who did not know, she looked like any other person who was out with a coat to keep warm. But at the same time, she was silently referencing to a famous book and television show.

Halloween. Bucky loved it. The brisk autumn air, the funky decorations, the festive aura, the dressing up... Hm, especially that last part. It was one day of the year that people wore costumes and weren't afraid to look silly. Well, then again, these people were mostly children so it wasn't that odd. "Mostly" because Bucky was one of them too. He made it a point to choose a different costume every year, always referencing to a fandom he was a part of.
This year, he was dressed as Darth Vader. His black cape billowed behind him as he strolled down the streets of the neighbourhood. When he breathed out, it came out raspy. He even had a long glow stick in hand as a makeshift lightsaber. But the crown jewel was the music playing through the speaker hooked on his belt. It played softly but one could hear it if they bothered to try. The Imperial March. Just for dramatic effect.
In his other hand, the boy held a bag shaped like a jack-o-lantern and it was filling up steadily with candies. No, he didn't consider himself too old for this. He was young enough at heart.
He saw two people leave one house further up the road and stopped in his tracks. Was that...? Bucky's heart raced and he ran up to them. Barely acknowledging the girl, he faced the younger boy and laughed lowly. "Greetings... young Jedi." Swiftly, he unsheathed his lightsaber as a silent challenge.

"Careful dear sister, your choice of words might land you with no candy tonight!" The little boy smiled sheepishly as he stared up at his older sister. Smirking, Poppy Lockwood pulled him under yer arm and ruffled his hair. "You're lucky I'm not wearing a wig!"
Throwing her head back, the nineteen year old girl laughed. "Oh the force is strong in this one," she referenced to the movie Trevor had picked his costume from. They were on their way to another house when suddenly she heard the faint music of the infamous Imperial March. Then she heard the voice that followed the music.
Turning around, she was surprised to see Darth Vader. The challenge he issued was answered by the young Jedi. "Hold my candy, lady." Trevor pushed his sack to Poppy which she took gladly as the young boy light up his too big of a lightsaber. He swung the weapon in hand and added dramatic sound effects. Suddenly he paused. "Why don't I have background music too?"

"Hold my candy, lady." The boy shoved his bag of sweets to the older girl and got his own lightsaber out, making sound effects with his mouth like this was an acapella.
Bucky couldn't help it; he couldn't contain his inner fanboy. He placed both hands over his heart and screamed silently--if that made any sense. In a nutshell, he fan girled boyed. He took off his mask to reveal his giddy face and smiled down at the younger boy. "Oh my gosh, that is just adorable! What are you, like, five? I am so proud of humanity right now. There's hope after all!"
Laughing, he patted the top of Trevor's head twice. The fandom consists of all ages; Star Wars was timeless and this fact made him happy. "You must be very proud of your son," he said kindly, turning to the lady who stood close by. "Really, I respect your parenting skills."

Poppy Lockwood watched her little brother swinging the weapon that was possibly taller than himself with much amusement. Honestly, at first she was a little weirded out. Who would not be when someone who sounded like they had an asthma was behind you. But it was Halloween after all, so she believed they were in no danger.
When the older boy revealed himself, Poppy was highly entertained. As a fangirl herself, she knew he was fangirlboying. It was always fun to meet someone from the same fandom. Apparently, Trevor thought so too. He beamed up at the other boy when it looked like he had received his approval.
However, the girl's face took another turn when the boy basically referred to her as a mother. Her eyes blinked as she stared at him. "I'm just going to pretend you did not just say that."
Meanwhile, Trevor was bursting into fits of giggles. "I. Am. Her. Brother!" he exclaimed as he swung his lightsaber at the other boy.

Her reaction was not one Bucky expected. She looked like he had just insulted her. Was it something he said? All he did was compliment her parenting skills. Did she hate the Star Wars fandom then? Just as he was about to ask what the matter was, the little boy started laughing. His explanation brought a sheepish smile to Bucky's face. Whoops.
Embarrassed as he was, he didn't notice the lightsaber coming at him until he was hit at his calf. "Nooooo!" The blow was not at all devastating but the older boy fell to the ground in slow motion, groaning dramatically. After playing dead for a few seconds, he laughed and sat up. He ruffled Trevor's hair. "Nice shot, buddy."
Not bothering to stand, he looked up at the lady girl. "Sorry 'bout my mistake. You two just have a big age difference." He gave an apologetic smile but then winked when he noticed what she was wearing. "Should've known from your coat though... A."

A sheepish grin spread over the girl's face. Not for the fact that the boy was groaning as he fell to the ground, but for the fact that he decided to that just to entertain a five year old boy. "You can't beat me!" exclaimed her younger brother. One thing, it certainly lifted Trevor's Halloween spirits and the little boy was enjoying being the reason why the older boy had fallen.
Poppy Lockwood was enjoying it too. She was glad she got the reaction that she received, not everyone quite liked taking some time in their schedule to play along with a little kid. The fact that the two males were in the same fandom probably was a factor in it too. Anyway, she was still glad it was a positive outcome -- even when he had basically called her a mom.
She chuckled once she heard what the boy had said. "Well took you long enough," she said, impressed that someone recognized the reference she was making, opening her arms to give him a good look of the red coat.
Just then, her little brother stepped forward and with his tiny arms, he thrusted them forward and grabbed the other boy's bag of candy and began rummaging through it.
"Trevor, what are you doing?" the sister asked, slightly shocked that her brother had seemed to forget his manners.
"I'm just looking for some Junior Mints!"
