Her hand blocked out the sun that warmed up that ebony skin of hers from blinding her. She then gently tapped the screen of her smartwatch, waking it up only to reveal the time.
2:58PM
Onnie had arrived far earlier than the agreed time. Possibly because she was nervous, anxious even. Only to know that Jack had a tendency of showing up far later than an agreed time, and yet she still had no problem with that. It had been months since she last saw him and she swore on everything that if he just showed up, even if it was just to say 'Hi' and 'Bye' she would look past it if he was even a half an hour late. It was so sad to say but at this point Oneyka had been the invisible string wrapped around his finger this time and he probably didn't even know it.
Constant flashbacks caused that horrible sinking feeling in Oneyka's stomach. Sad to say, talks with Heather and meditation never helped any. She had gone through a break up, separation anxiety, depression, and a loss under just a couple of months and was sure there was something that could solve it. There was always something that could solve it and maybe this meeting would help?
She spotted a bench... but she couldn't sit, no. Not now. Standing would show that she was ready... but was she?

Taylor really shouldn't be doing this. Even he was well aware of how royally pissed his brother would be if he found out Onnie was home and Taylor had not only hijacked her messages but also a planned meeting. While his actions may have been wrong Taylor's heart was in the right place. He'd spent far too many days and nights witnessing the heartache and sorrow that had threatened to consume Jack in the wake of Onnie's departure from the country and Taylor would be damned if he'd let his brother fall victim to something that would see him right back in the same place.
The road to Hell, they say, is paved with good intentions.
Taylor spotted Onnie well before she had him. He'd planned it that way. Under the laid back, apathetic demeanor resided a tactically trained mind, after all, and Taylor was certainly on guard. In truth, Taylor had showed up well before the set time and opted to remain out of sight until Onnie showed up and he could study her a bit before approaching. She was nervous, pacing around like she was about to burst. Whether that was a good or bad thing would remain to be seen.
Finally, after from a distance for more than a few minutes, Taylor got from the table at an outside cafe he'd been sitting and started for Onnie. He glanced both ways before trotting across the street, slowing once he reached the other side. His hands found his pockets as he approached, speaking only when he could do so without raising his voice. "Onnie." He said, his tone low and dour. "Welcome back."
