A little backstory:
16 and pregnant. Yeah, she got Xander when she was pretty young. Andrew Scott was only two years older then but he married her once she graduated. The man was not a mutant so the family lived in a non mutant community. This can be one of the reasons why the couple divorced. (I was thinking she was someone who doesn't like hiding who she really is?) Then when Xander was ten, she moved to America -- due to whatever reason you'd like.
Recently Xander moved to the states because his father, Andrew Scott, was shot and died so custody over him had been given to the mom who lived in Kalispell.
His parents divorced when he was only six years old. He lived with his dad but he still visited his mom during summers. But the visits stopped when he was ten and when his mom packed up her bags and moved to America. Xander very much detest his mom for leaving him. Since then he rarely contacts her as he focused more on making a career in racing.
When his dad died, he was underage, so he was practically forced to leave his home in England to live with his mom and attend college at Bellefonte Academy. This only fuels his hatred towards his mom even more. So he tries to spend more time away from home and avoids his mom and her attempts for 'family bonding' time, like playing board games.
