The boy did not live on the campus but he found himself on school grounds more than usual. Even on the bloody weekends! That morning , Xander Scott had gotten up early and quickly got dressed into a pair of shorts and a tee. It was a Sunday and he made sure to get out of the house before his mother legal guardian got up and could pull him into whatever "family" activity she had thought of for them to do and "bond".
"You know, playing ball is getting real boring!"
The boy stopped bouncing the soccer ball he had when he heard the voice. Turning his head, he glared at Campbell -- the bloody annoying replica. Instead of replying, he only shook his head and continued kicking the balls into the goal. He did not give any shit on how Campbell was feeling.
Just then, he heard a shrill sound which stopped what he was doing. He looked around and saw that a random passerby was struck on the head by a soccer ball. For sure, it could not have been him. No way.
"Yo, Xander, don't you know it ain't nice to hit someone with a ball?"
His fists clenched when he realized it was his replica who did it but playing it off as if it was Xander's fault. To top it off, now Campbell was trying to "help" the person. "Unfuckingbelievable."

With the weather breaking, and the air hardly as frigid as it had been as of late, Harper did what she always did at the first sign of nice weather. Well, okay, the second thing she did to painting. She went running. Hair pulled up into a messy bun and some paint smeared on her cheek from her earlier art session, she made her way out towards the training field to begin stretching and preparing for a lengthy jog, perhaps some sprints even. And then she'd enjoy a nice long cigarette that was starting to affect her endurance. Meaning she should probably stop, but yet, she didn't because, well, she didn't care.
As she finally made it up to the track, she went by the soccer field and nets, hardly paying much attention. Next thing she knows, a ball smacked her on the side of the face, causing her cheek to throb and pulsate. She let out a bit of a whimper and pressed her cool hand to her cheek. A few deep breaths and she maintained her calm, while her eyes scoured the area for the culprit. If she got her hands on them, she'd be sure to make them feel what she felt by smacking them against the face with her fist! Then again, probably not.
A boy started approaching her and she debated on just walking away and ignoring him and his stupid apologies. She should have just began running, but she was curious of his reasoning. Did he not see her? Did she really blend in that well with the wide open field of grass?! Her face began to burn and she knew it was either from the mark on her cheek or her frustration. One way or another, he was going to get a piece of her mind!
"Do you need bifocals or something?" She asked when the boy approached her.

The replica chuckled at the sarcasm displayed by the girl. "Yeah, he probably does." He lied easily through his teeth, as he picked up the soccer ball. Well that was Campbell for you. "I think he has a hard time differentiating between pretty girls and goal posts."
As Xander Scott slowly approached the two, he rolled his eyes as he heard the exchange. Of course, he should have expected Campbell to do such a thing. He eyed his copy warily, wondering just exactly what he was planning. With an easy smile and the ball tucked under his arm, what was Campbell up to?
He shifted his attention from his copy to the girl. She looked...okay. As okay as a person who had been hit by a soccer ball would be, he guessed. "Uh, mate sorry about that." His head slowly turned towards Campbell, who had a smug look on his face, and was more than annoyed that now he decided to be his usual annoying self. "Don't mind him. He's an arse," he said, nodding towards the other boy.

Harper hadn't realized there were two of the same guy right away. In fact, she had only noticed the one right in front of her that was speaking and his words then allowed for her to catch onto the other that approached. Were they twins? Or something different completely? An illusion? There were crazier things that had happened at this school. It was a school for the crazy, the clinically insane, the whackadoodles, the loonies. Maybe his ability was making people crazy by smacking them in the face with a ball. Or she was seeing double and had a concussion...
"Save your flattery, buddy," Cute as this guy totally was, Harper was not a girl who got weak-kneed. And if she had, it would only be the concussion's fault. Not his. Nope.
While her hand cupped the side of her face, she glanced between the two boys and shook her head. "Either I've got a concussion and am seeing double or I'm crazy," She was starting to get a little dizzy, either from her brain hurting trying to figure out what was going on or from her injury, she didn't know or care. "I...I think I need to sit down." She wobbled a little bit as she stated the obvious and even tilted forward a bit, nearly face-planting into the guy in front of her, but she caught her balance and plopped down on her butt instead. "Ow..."

An eyebrow quirked up in questioning as the boy watched the offended girl. She did not seem to react to what he had said. In fact, he was not even sure if she had even heard him at all. For a brief moment, he gave Campbell an accusingly look, wondering if he had hit the girl with the soccer ball again, before returning his gaze back to the girl when he heard her talking.
Her statement got a chuckle out of Xander. Two out of the three options she mentioned might be right. The soccer ball might have hit her for who knew how hard and yes, she was seeing double because for that morning, Campbell had decided to come out and play. But before he could explain to her what exactly happened, it was most definitely not him that kicked the soccer ball, the female looked like she was going to fall face first to the ground.
His hands reached out, ready to hold and steady her if he needed to, but then she fell backwards instead and landed on her behind. Not a second longer, Xander bent down to her level. "That was some fall. How are you feeling?" He lightly touched her cheeks, trying to inspect the damage his replica had caused.

His hands reached out towards her before she found herself on her butt, with a sharp shooting pain traveling up her tailbone and into her back. That had smarted quite a bit and she wasn't too thrilled that she had fallen right in front of this guy. Harper was not a klutz, but she was awkward around people she didn't know and although she was tiny, she was a spitfire. It didn't show as she sat there disoriented and embarrassed. The ball had hit her a bit harder than she originally thought, but she had been so certain that she was fine.
The older boy knelt down in front of her and her eyes widened as she looked up at him. Okay, yeah, she was starting to really think he was hot and her cheeks proved as much as they flared. His fingertips were cool as he touched her burning face and she was determined to play it off as anger or that it was still red from the ball hitting her. Luckily she was still very distracted by the pain in her rump that she didn't have time to stammer through anything when he asked her the question.
"I'm feeling like this is just not my day," She grumbled, trying to swat at his hands. Harper didn't know how to feel about him touching her face, and she most definitely didn't want to have to explain why she was so flushed. Seeing the type that he seemed to be, she could just imagine how hot he thought he was.

Xander, of course being the oblivious one that he was, thought her sudden change of color meant she was developing a fever or something. Though he doubted one could get that from getting hit in the head and falling down so he settled for anger instead. Bloody hell. He did not particularly like how this was turning out. As usual, it was him who had to clean after Campbell's mess.
"Yes, I can imagine so," he said with a chuckle in reply. When she swatted his hand away, he immediately pulled them away without hesitating. If she did not want them there, he was not going to argue. He looked at her and gave her a thinned smile, hoping to convey an apologetic look.
Then, he heard his replica laughing out loud. His heard slowly turned, annoyed at what Campbell could possibly be laughing at the moment seeing as it was him who caused the situation they were in now. "Oh c'mon, are you two going to keep staying on the ground or are you going to get a room?[/i] Campbell said snickering.
The boy rolled his eyes. He stood up and turned his gaze back to the fallen girl. He was not sure if she wanted his help or not, but nevertheless he reached his hand out for her to take. "Why don't we go get you something? Food? Other things? You know, as an apology."

Harper bit her lower lip and attempted to regain what little composure she had left. The truth of the matter was that she was embarrassed and Harper Kinston didn't allow for embarrassment to keep her down or to affect her usually. But in front a guy that looked like him? Well what girl wouldn't be a little flustered by the events that had occurred? Harper wasn't usually just any girl, in fact, she often identified as one of the guys because she didn't do the girly type of thing and she most definitely didn't act like one. She was a painter, always messy with colors streaking her face and hands. She didn't have manicured fingers or eyelash extensions. She was just her.
As the replica, as he'd said it was, spoke, she glanced at him and her face burned hotter. This time, she wasn't sure if it was the embarrassment or the irritation that was getting to her. Having someone call her out on what she was hoping to hide, was not what she needed. And although Harper wasn't a fighter, she liked people to believe that she was tough and could take care of herself. And by taking care of herself, that meant being able to hold her own if she needed to hit anyone. Even if it was a guy.
Her attention was recaptured by, oh what was his name? Xander. He reached out his hand to her and although she more than wanted to swat that away as well, she didn't feel as steady on the ground, let alone if she stood. Harper took his hand and stood carefully, tilting forward and placing a hand on his chest before pulling it back quickly as if she had touched something hot. (And boy had she.) "Y-you don't have to. It's fine, I mean, I don't. It's okay. Unless you like want to or whatever. I don't.. I don't care."
And this is where that little thing called flirting would come in handy, yet she'd never been in a situation where she'd felt it necessary.

Xander Scott was completely oblivious and he did not read much into what his replica had said, even though it had held some truth. To be honest, the boy had always disregard almost everything that came out of Campbell's voice, especially when he realized Campbell's very existence was just to annoy the hell out of him. If it were not for Campbell, he would not have to rectify the mess made and the girl certainly could get on with her day without having it tainted by this experience. "Ignore him."
"Ha! You wish!"
He gritted his teeth and gave a forced smile. "That's what I do." Well, that was what he tries to do every time anyway but it did not necessarily prove effective always. Take today for example. He ignored Campbell and his replica decided to act out by throwing a ball at a random jogger. What did I do to ever deserve this?
When she accepted his hand, he smiled and helped pull her up. However, before he could reply, Campbell decided to butt in. "Sure you care. Come on, I want some of those banana muffins from that bakery." With that, he went running off the field.
Xander heaved a heavy sigh. "Don't mind him. I don't even know what bakery he's talking about. Anyway erm, I would like to. But uh if you aren't up for it, we could always take a rain check, trade numbers and...you can give me a call or something whenever you want to take up the offer. Least I could do." He shrugged and flashed a smile.
"I'm Xander by the way."

Ignore him, he said, and ignore him she did. Well, as best as she could. Harper still didn't quite like having the lurking replica nearby while she was trying to contain herself around Xander. And as she tried to think about it, she realized that this replica was a part of Xander, wasn't he? If Campbell was an extension of Xander, then shouldn't she not be attracted to Xander? She wasn't attracted to Campbell, even if he had the same face, the way he wore his expressions just irked her more than anything. Xander had a nice easy-going nature, and it was something that Harper had always found comforting.
But Xander was annoyed by him too, so clearly there was something different happening than what she thought. As she'd thought before, she didn't know the ins and outs of every ability, nor did she plan on learning them.
Campbell took off running and Harper eased a bit into the situation. Without the annoyance lingering, she could finally focus. Her attention span wasn't always the best, which was why she focused so hard on her art work, it was the only way she could find something to focus on. Her eyes went from the boy running, back to the other boy in front of her and she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. She was nervous though because despite the very little knowledge she had on boys, she knew that something about this situation seemed to make her uncomfortable.
And she was almost certain it was because he had more or less asked her on a date. Or maybe a pity date. Harper chewed on her lip and nodded, "I-I think I'm up for it. Uh now. I don't really have anything else to do except paint, but that's...I can do that whenever." She cleared her throat and then nodded at his name. She vaguely remembered it from when the replica accused him of hitting her with the ball. "I'm Har-er..." She cut off and shook her head, maybe he'd think she was brain damaged because she couldn't even get her name out, but really, she just about forgot her rule. No one was allowed to know who she was except the teachers.

The boy could not help but chuckle to himself when he realized how less tensed she seemed now after his replica had ran off. He did not realize how much Campbell's presence had such an effect. Xander liked knowing that he was not the only one put off by the other boy. Obviously, annoying was second nature to the replica.
When the girl more or less agreed, a smile grew across his lips. Xander was always brought up to never leave things unfinished. Even though if it was technically not even his fault, but Campbell was part of his responsibility. Plus, he genuinely wanted to make it up to her. On the other hand, it meant another meal where he did not have to endure Campbell. Not alone at least. So she really was helping him.
"Well, Bex, that's great. Come on then. I think it's a given that you have a say to where we're going," he said, winking. He picked up the offending the soccer ball and gave a lopsided grin before making his way off the field.
