The day he manifested was fresh in his mind like it was only yesterday that he ran almost ten miles in under a minute. When fourteen year old Cash Hunter realized he had super speed, the boy was more than thrilled. "Oh yeah, practically everyone is," he shared. For as long as he could remember, every Hunter he knew was born with a power. "Naw, not all the same. There's cyberlingualism, my big bro. Which is basically talking to technology. Precognition..." he named a few.
The boy said nothing in reply but just smiled broadly when he watched her made the apple grew. It was still such a rare and new sight to him. Cash was amazed. He could remember so many times when that trick would have come in handy for him.
Her question about his family had his mind still stuck on the topic. Recent events made the thought stronger. "But uh that recent SPRITE epidemic? Well it took one of my cousin's power away. For good." There was a hint of sadness in his smile and tone. It was actually one of the reasons why his relationship with Bucky was so strained right now. "Well, clearly that didn't happen to you. I'm glad."

>>"Oh yeah, practically everyone is... Naw, not all the same. There's cyberlingualism, my big bro. Which is basically talking to technology. Precognition..."
It was fascinating, an entire family of mutants, all with their own powers and abilities, all living together. Silvia couldn't even imagine what it would have been like, to have a family like that. She was having trouble just imagining having siblings, to begin with...

"No, it didn't..." Silvia muttered. She had heard about it, from other students and overheard conversations, but did not know much about the details. She had imagined losing her powers before... she never liked the idea.
The apples ripened, and she picked two of them; they practically fell off the branch into her hands. She held one out, offering it to Cash.

The boy gave himself a shook, mentally trying to shake the feeling of glumness that he felt when he spoke of his cousin. He did not like it one bit that Bucky and him were fighting. He wondered how he could have been so oblivious as to not see how having his power ripped away was taking a toll on him. They came from a family of mutants, and there Bucky was the oddball out. Cash wanted to kick himself for not noticing it any sooner.
The thought brushed away and the nineteen year old's smile returned as he accepted the ripened apple from Silvia. His amazement towards her power could be seen clearly on his face. "That is still so cool," he said before taking a bite of the fruit.
Her request was met with an arch of the eyebrow. As he munched, he thought of what he could show her. It was only speed after all. He could have done something like what he did for Kenny in the library but for some reason he thought Silvia might wanted something different than reenacting a scene from Treasure Island. Finally, he got an idea.
"Well, that depends. Where would you like to go? By the way, make sure it's somewhere around Kalispell," he added lastly with a chuckle.

He accepted the apple, and complimented her on her powers again, which made Silvia blush. Not that she didn't know her powers were cool, she was well aware of that, but she had not been told very often. But now, she was definitely curious about his. She was sure it was even cooler.
>>"Well, that depends. Where would you like to go? By the way, make sure it's somewhere around Kalispell,"
"Me?..." she blinked. She expected some kind of a demonstration of his powers... she didn't think they would go anywhere. She was confused for a moment about the question.
"Well, uh... I have never been around town all that much..." she admitted. She had kept to the Academy since she'd arrived - her powers were glaringly obvious, and she was not sure how people would have reacted to them...

A cheeky grin spread over his face as he observed the girl. He could imagine how puzzled she might be. But the college student kept quiet, not wanting to give Silvia any clue as to what would come her way.
"Oh yeah? Okay then." He finished off the apple and chucked the remains in a nearby bin. He rubbed his palms together and took a step towards her. "Don't worry. This isn't teleportation. That might have been a bit more dangerous," he said with a small laugh. "We're going to basically run super fast to Town Hall. Ready?" He put a hand out for her to take. Or decline.

>>"Oh yeah? Okay then... Don't worry. This isn't teleportation. That might have been a bit more dangerous. We're going to basically run super fast to Town Hall. Ready?"
Run? Together?... Silvia blushed again. Not as much from shyness as from the strange thought that she'd be affected by someone else's mutation. She had not interacted with many gifted people before, at least not in a way that their powers would have mixed... not directly. It felt kind of like a personal thing.
He offered a hand to her, and she hesitated for a moment, wondering what the sensation would be like, or whether she should just say no altogether. The Town Hall was... fairly close. Would it be okay?...
Then again, she promised herself to go out more, and make more friends, and Cash seemed like a nice person. She didn't want to ruin the encounter by chickening out. Taking a deep breath, Silvia nodded, and put her hand into his.
A smile slowly spread over the Hunter's face when he felt her put her hand onto his. "Now we're talking. Okay so um...just hold on tight, okay?" He said cheekily, clueless and not knowing what other advice there was to give. Cash knew the whole thing would be harmless, since he had done it before often whilst he played with his little cousins. So before Silvia could utter another word out, the speedster gripped her hand and super speed out of the academy and to the Town Hall.
Admittedly, he never knew how the experience was to each person. Then again, nobody ever really bothered to explain it to him more than just a couple of words like "adrenaline" or "rush" or "fast". But he knew it definitely was a like rush and all those other adjectives. To Cash, it was like a short period of experiencing your life flashing by you. But in reality, it was just the landscapes that they past. Ha ha.
In a blink of an eye, the two were at the front steps of the building. He let go of her palm and gripped her by the shoulders instead. He was laughing and grinning. "Are you okay?" he asked, excitedly.

She had never experienced anything like this before. It was strange enough that she'd allow someone whom she'd just met to touch her, and drag her along... and allow them to use their powers on her, without knowing what they really were... but the rush, the sudden vertigo, the change of place without a logical sequence of events... it all left her reeling by the time they stopped.
>>"Are you okay?"
Cash was laughing, with both hands on her shoulders, and Silvia tried to catch her breath and find her footing after the sudden rush. Her face flushed red, and she blinked a couple of times, taking in their surroundings that seemed to have changed from one moment to the next.
"That... wow" she stuttered, wobbling a little "Yes, I am fine" she added, smiling timidly, suddenly aware that his hands were still on her shoulders "It's just... it was so fast..."

Honestly, the boy rarely did what he did with others like around his age. One, it was not because it was such a harmful trick. He trained with his trainer and they concluded that it was pretty safe. Unlike teleportation, he was in no danger of amputating anyone. Two, he often did it with his little cousins because those kids certainly were much more open to the idea.
Once he was sure she was steady and could stand on her own, he released his grip on her shoulders. "Yeah, that's actually uh pretty normal for me," he replied cheekily. Granted, Cash had always loved being fast and when he manifested, he was faster. Slow was not something he often experienced.

>>"Yeah, that's actually uh pretty normal for me... So, here we are."
He seemed cheerful about their little adventure, and Silvia responded with a shy smile. She found her feet, finally, and he let go, so she looked around, confirming that they were, indeed, at the town hall. Her mind struggled to catch up with the sudden change of location.
"How... fast was that?" she asked out of curiosity; the decorative trees and bushed responded to her voice by unfurling some flowers. People were going to be suspicious, seeing how fast everything bloomed outside of town hall "... maybe I shouldn't speak here..." she added at a whisper, glancing around. She had never used her powers in public like this; she didn't want to accidentally get into trouble.

How...fast? He never really had to answer that kind of a question. People knew he had super speed and that was that. Of course, encountering other speedsters would be different because it was always nice knowing how much better you are than another. That or realize your limitations and there was someone faster than you.
He knew some speedsters have rapid healing as well. A second ability branching from the root. But for Cash Hunter, that did not happen to him.
Although before he could give her an estimation of the speed, Silvia raised her worries. "Oh, that never crossed my mind," he said more to himself really. Cash quickly found a solution to her predicament. "Come on, let's go to the park. That'd be better, yeah?" He kicked his shoe against the pavement then walked in the direction of the destination. "And don't worry, it's only a stone's throw away. I jog around here!" he called out to the blonde.

>>"Oh, that never crossed my mind... Come on, let's go to the park. That'd be better, yeah? And don't worry, it's only a stone's throw away. I jog around here!"
Silvia snickered at the mention of jogging. It had never occurred to her that a speedster would... jog. It sounded too slow. She turned to follow him, nodding in consent. The park would be full of plants, but at least the effect of her powers would be less obvious for the outside observer. Especially if they kept moving.
"Did you ever..." she started, lowering her voice as she caught up to him - even at normal speed, his legs were longer "... get into trouble for your powers?..."
She was new to this town, after all... she was not sure how people would react to displays of power in public. She wondered if someone like the speedster, with... flashy powers would have encountered reactions to it.

Even what he had said made himself laugh. The speedster liked to jog and run. That was before he even manifested. Cash Hunter had always loved to run. So he could not use his super speed too often because of the damn side effects but he liked keeping his body active and moving. Plus, it helped him build up his already good stamina.
He looked and smiled down at the shorter girl when she caught up to him. "Hmm trouble?" That word was alien to the boy who did his best to portray prefection. "That kind of depends I guess on which angle you're looking at. Sometimes people call me a cheat when I win a race and they don't believe it when I say I didn't use my ability. Is that what you were asking?"

She blinked in surprise. It sounded like Cash had had... a good life, like she did, in mutant terms anyway. Not having to deal with bigotry because of being different was a gift, a rare one, and Silvia's parents made sure she knew that.
"No, that's not..." she wrinkled her nose, trying to come up with an explanation of what she was trying to ask. As they walked towards the park, some flowers popped up here and there by the roadside at her voice passing by.
"Did you ever get into... real trouble? You know with people who don't like... us?"
Post by Cash Hunter on May 15, 2016 2:35:54 GMT -6
"Real trouble, huh?" Those moments were rare, but he guessed he had experienced those at least once or twice. "I helped this barista out once. There was a long line and she was working alone. Basically the machine broke down and she couldn't fix it fast enough so a lot of people were angry. There's where I came in," he said, winking.
"With my speed, I helped her out ya know. Get everyone's orders and all that. The guy wasn't particularly happy when he realized I was a mutant. Strolled out cursing but at least he got his coffee." Cash shrugged and gave a sheepish smile.
But the smile dropped when he realized he probably did not actually answer Silvia's question. Whoops. "Ah sorry. I guess I don't have anything tragic. If did land myself into one, I'd probably have just ran away," he joked. "So what about you? Any real trouble?"
