Victoria’s hand slowly moved off of the phone. Well aware of the fact that it wouldn’t be making any more noise. She had herself a good mental laugh at the thought of her assistant showing up to her office to not find her there, not to mention not being able to get in contact with her. But given the years that he had worked for her he would know better to think he was off the hook. Yes, Victoria fully expected to go back to her office and it be completed in the way she had discussed. She had enough confidence in the man to do as much.
Parents. A small, very small part of her had always wondered what it would be like to have a ‘normal’ family. Parents that cared about your education and well-being. Even if it seemed overbearing or annoying at times. The man seemed to be grateful, but she couldn’t help but sense there was more to that story. She didn’t care much to ask, instead she just gave a small shrug.
She arched an eyebrow. Seven years? Perhaps he would be the perfect guy to get the inside scoop of this place. First a student, and now he stayed to work here. Interesting. She took a sip of her coffee before narrowing her eyes on him, “Fascinating.” She said simply. She brushed her finger tips under her chin. “Not a proper one. No. I have wandered though.”
This guy could be of more use than she had originally thought.

Gabriel looked at her and raised an eyebrow at her one word answer but didn't offer a response. He did however nod when she responded to his question about the tour.
"I could give you one, if you wanted. I don't think you'd actually get a proper one." He frowned slightly before reaching a hand out. "How rude of me, I'm Gabriel Mendes."

She kept her eyes on the man across from her. Trying to figure him out a bit. Her face remained expressionless as he offered to give her a tour of the school. She tilted her head slightly to look down at his outreached hand. She pondered for a moment before taking it in hers and giving a short but stern shake. “Nice to meet you.” She replied, even though she wasn’t surely convinced that it was indeed nice to meet him, but it was etiquette and he had been intrigued thus far.
Victoria knew it was her turn to give her name, but she refused to do so, to anyone. She pursed her lips before speaking, “Miss. Devereux, and I’d love one.”

His usual response to a beautiful woman saying that was to flirt and say 'The pleasure is all mine' but he would be lying in this context. He still didn't like how she spoke to whoever was on the other end of the phone and he still didn't think it was called for, the way she was so dismissive of the fact that she had woken him up from his sleep.
He let out a small inaudible breath of amused laughter when she introduced herself with her last name. Pompous, wasn't she? But he had offered the tour so really, it was his own fault he was now stuck with her.
"If you're free now, why don't I give you the tour now?"

She couldn’t help but wonder why a stranger would offer to give her a tour. Then again she sometimes forgot how some people were just kind in general. Victoria glanced at the watch on her wrist before speaking, “I suppose I have some time to spare.” She said before grabbing her phone off the table. Louis would be here and done by the time they were done with the tour. So it worked out. At least it kept her occupied for the time being, and well, perhaps she could pick his mind some more.
Victoria stood from the chair slowly and took a sip from her coffee. “Shall we?” She asked, while gesturing to the door.

With her acquiescence, Gabriel grabbed his cup of coffee, throwing the lid and empty sugar packets away as he stood up. Part of him wondered if he should ask her if she wanted the extensive tour, with all the places kids would hang out when they skived. Or the concise one, comprising of just the places she might need to know so she didn't get lost.
She honestly looked like the type to ask for the concise one and really, Gabriel didn't want to spend any more time with her. As juvenile as he thought he was being, she was mean and he didn't like it. It was a good thing he didn't have to see her every day. He figured, just be nice this once and he won't have to see her again.
"So the main places you'll need to know where to go are the lounges, the cafeteria, the courtyard and the classes." He started. "I don't think we'll be able to cover everything today but I'll be able to explain where everything is so you can get the rough idea for the layout of the place. That okay with you?"

Victoria waited as the man stood making sure to throw the garbage away as he did so. She glanced at her phone in the palm of her hand partially annoyed at the fact that she didn’t have a pocket or purse to put it in.
She listened as he spoke and gave a quick nod of approval. “Sounds good to me.” She said, although she had already stumbled upon the cafeteria already but a second time wouldn’t hurt, plus she had time to kill.
In reality she didn’t need a tour, she was more than capable of finding her way about the school herself. But again, he offered, and she needed to get her mind off of Louis. Plus, it wouldn’t be a bad thing to get it from the view of someone who had been her practically half his life. She made her way towards the door, glad to be out of the drab room. “What’s your opinion or the students and faculty here?”

As they made their way towards the nearest place from the teacher's lounge, the French woman's question had Gabriel laughing.
"That's a dangerous question." He responded. He was essentially working under a baby who has a baby of her own. Though it wasn't a knock on Erika Bellefonte's character and how well she runs the school, it did give Gabriel pause sometimes. "And probably a second date question, at least." He joked.
He waved a hand as a gesture to the room they had just landed in. "This is where kids usually go to to smoke. They think we don't know." He shrugged. "You would think they'd find a better room than one that's so close to the teacher's lounge."

The brunette arched a brow at his laughter. She didn’t think her question was that humorous. She narrowed her grey eyes at the man. “Why dangerous?” She asked, her curiosity even more piqued. Victoria gave a faint smile to his joke, which to her seemed like more an aversion to her question.
Her head panned around the new room she found herself in. She let out a small puff of air. “And they get away with that?” She questioned, amazed that that was even tolerated at this school.
