Clearly Charity needed to start thinking about filming her sessions. It had just never really occurred to her. Sure, she'd heard bits and pieces about recording yourself training or teaching before now, but it had just never been her thing. now she was realizing that if she had done that, she might have been able to go back and analyze what was happening, figure out if there was something she could do to recommend improvement.
Right now, Charity was struggling more with getting her air back and centering herself. The world spun slightly, and she had to take a few breaths to try and remind herself that Devyn wasn't the only one who was a little out of sorts. "Right," Charity said as Devyn spoke. Charity nodded. "We'll... get you to the infirmary. There's some water and protein bars..." Charity turned and took a few steps toward where she knew the water and food to be stored. She stumbled slightly, but managed to stop herself from hitting the ground too hard.
Just a bit woozy, but Charity was pretty sure she could pull it together. She managed to do so at least enough to get to where she'd stored the food. Then she pulled some out, holding the bottle and bar toward Devyn, while starting to at least think about heading back that way. Surely moving would be good, right? stretch the muscles?

Devyn was in pain but she could tell that Charity was not doing so well either. It was kind of hard to miss someone trying to catch their breath and just by the way the older woman was standing. Now Dev didn't really care about her own needs and instead was worried about making sure her trainer was okay. That was her biggest fear about all of this, someone getting hurt because of her power and her not having control. It was why she wanted to try it out but now that this was happening, she was regretting even thinking she could even try to pull such a thing off.
She even almost let out a whimper as Charity spoke of going to the infirmity, getting something to eat, and drink and was not saying anything about herself. The woman was too nice and while it did make Dev feel slightly better that she was not being blamed. It still hurt that Charity was putting her first when she should not have. Despite her pain and dealing with blood dripping from her ears and nose Devyn moved to try and help Charity from falling, but was a bit too slow. "I'll be fine...more worried about you right now." Devyn said as she worked on standing up herself.
Yet again she just used her sleeve to wipe up any blood, not wanting it to get all over the floor and didn't mind getting blood on her clothing. Dev didn't hesitate to get up to take the food and water but she still had a worried look on her face. "You need me to go get you anything?" Devyn asked, figuring that it would probably be best for Charity to sit still and rest for a moment. She could still walk around; a bit slower for the moment, but she could still move and was not too bad other then some pain and the bleeding.

Students came first. That was how it had always been, and despite Charity's dizziness, she wanted it to stay that way. Yeah, she didn't have nearly as much experience with whatever it was Devyn had just done there, but that didn't mean she should succumb to it. Charity just tried to pull herself together a little more, waving off Devyn's comments.
"I'm doing great!" she said with far too much enthusiasm, even adding a thumbs up. She flashed a smile. "We just need to get you to the infirmary, let the specialists check you out. And yes," she nodded and held out a hand, "I'll make sure to go too." Which should solve Devyn's whole "worried about the teacher thing." Truthfully Charity would've gone anyway. She didn't want to end up getting worse or anything along those lines, and who knows what had happened to her as a result of their little experiment.
At least Charity had gotten to the kit of food and water and whatnot. "I told you: Fine," she insisted, before holding out a sports drink for Devyn. she gave it a little shake, while using her other hand to try and find the vitamin water that she'd stored. Because getting a drink was definitely sounding like a good idea right about now.
Well, no one said this job was going to be easy...

Charity might have thought it was about putting the student before yourself, but as far as Devyn was concerned it was about putting the person who was worse off than the other. At least that was always how she felt about something unless it involved someone she cared deeply for. That was to say if someone say sprained an ankle and needing help moving vs a person that literally tied up in some kind of trap, then she would help the person in the trap. However; if someone she cared about was involved she would end up helping them out first unless they made it clear she had to help the other one out.
So in this case she thought Charity needed help more than she did because bleeding from her ears and eyes was not really new. Nor was being really hungry and thirsty since that always happened after she used her power. She let out a low displeased growl when Charity spoke about doing great with too much enthusiasm for Devyn to believe it. She wished the older woman would not lie to her, even if it was for the sake of not wanting Dev to worry about her. Then there was a compromise of sorts, Devyn could accept that. "Alright, as long as you are going to. At the same time. You should know by now I dislike going to the infirmary area at all." Devyn responded and it was very true.
She would deal with a missing arm on her own if it meant she could avoid going to the infirmary. Thankfully this was not as serious as a missing arm, but she still didn't want to go all the same. As soon as she had the 'food' in her hand, she was already opening it and practically wolfing it down. No pun intended. There was the drink that Devyn did take happily, having a quick swig of it before she was more focused on Charity. "Let me at least help you out some. I can carry you if you don't want to lean on me." Devyn pointed out as she got closer to her trainer. Damn, she really regretted trying something new and should have just done what Charity had planned.

It wasn't really lying when Charity said that she thought Devyn did a good job. Trying out something new for your ability was rough even with everything lined up perfectly. Charity just wasn't the best match for Devyn in this particular ability, and later the trainer would probably say as much. However, there was something much more pressing to get to first.
"Well, tough, we're heading to the infirmary," Charity insisted, nodding toward the exit. She'd already started there, mostly because the food happened to be close to it. Devyn had some of that now, and Charity was smiling reassuringly at the student. "you really did a good job: stretching your abilities can often lead to disastrous results. I've seen people, like, get splinched, effectively," Charity explained, jerking a little. "That's, uh, that's a Harry potter reference," she offered that nervous smile.
The other woman really wanted to baby Charity. The trainer hesitated for a moment, before realizing that it would probably be a good way of Devyn actually dealing with her power and everything that had happened. "Sure," she said, moving to sling an arm over the girl, "I needed this anyway," Charity said. Not entirely true: she was starting to get better at the whole walking thing. They were moving forward and at least the infirmary wasn't that far from the training rooms.

Devyn let out a low growl when Charity made it clear that they would be going to the infirmary, despite how Devyn felt about going to such a place. She supposed she could put up a fight, but to make up for hurting her trainer in the process she figured she would listen to her. It would only be fair and also the right thing to do. So she let out a say and would go to the infirmary like Charity wanted. She could already guess what they were going to say and suggest that she should do, but she would go. Then there was praise leaving Charity's mouth, telling Devyn that she did good and saying that it was important to stretch out ones abilities.
Dev still felt like it was probably best to focus on control over what other things you could do with your power, but she supposed Charity had a point. There was that word that Charity said that Devyn didn't know the actual meaning but had a guess. It was a Harry Potter reference? Devyn never actually watched that movie or anything of them, and she certainly didn't read the book. "Never watched it. Not really my thing." Devyn responded with a small shrug. She liked her supernatural movies here and there but that was with werewolves, vampire, and what have you but not really a huge fan of witches and what have you.
She was just pleased when Charity allowed her to help her, because if she had not Devyn was just going to keep feeling bad about sort of hurting her trainer when they were training. It reminded her of the time of how she had almost attack Guy; and that had almost happened too many times, she felt awful for it and wondered for a moment if Guy ever talked to Charity about her. She even wondered if Charity slightly hated her for not having been there to help her dad out...Dev didn't even know he died until the day after. "Sorry." Devyn muttered out as she helped Charity walk to the infirmary.
They did not having to go too far do to how the school had everything set up. Once they got there, Devyn moved to help Charity and herself grab a seat. They likely would not have to wait a long time to be see, but Devyn was not looking forward to it and would have been just fine sitting there and waiting. Her green eyes were already focused on the floor and she sat in a hunched over state to try and make herself smaller.

Charity rolled her eyes toward the ceiling. "They were books first, you know," she said, with the well-worn tone of someone who'd had to explain this several times and couldn't help but express at least some frustration for it. "It essentially involves getting parts of your body in different places. Like, your legs would be in one spot and your upper body somewhere else," which sounded sort of cool until you actually saw it, when you realized with shocking clarity that such a sight was, in fact, completely and utterly terrifying.
Which was the point Charity was trying to make here. Yes, this hadn't gone perfectly, but things never did the first time around. They could both walk out of this, albeit by leaning upon one another. Ergo this definitely counted as one in the win column.
"You've nothing to apologize for," Charity insisted, again rolling her eyes. "I'm the one in charge, remember? That means I get full responsibility for, like, everything that happens in the training rooms. So if anyone gets to apologize, it's me," she gave Devyn a quick smile and then soldiered onward. Thankfully it wouldn't take long until they were situated sitting in the waiting room.
"We'll have to see if we can get someone more compatible next time," Charity said as they sat. "A friend would work fairly well, especially if you know anyone else with shadow powers or morphing. outside of that, you, ah, mentioned a girlfriend, right? Is she sort of your size?" Charity looked over, then flushed slightly. "Not, like, because---it's for the ability, obviously."

"Heh, do you see me as the type to snuggle up with a good long book to read?" Devyn asked when Charity pointed out that there were books. Devyn had seen the books, it was kind of hard to miss them back when it was super popular and how thick the books were. Charity went on to explain what it meant and it didn't sound like anything cool or something that anyone would want to go through. Sounded down right painful. Devyn certainly didn't want to try anything like that and now was a little more hesitant to try out this new skill she wanted to gain.
"Sounds like something out of a horror film. Like the human centipede but in this case he would be attaching your legs to where your arms go." Devyn said as she started to picture it. Of course she would have seen a movie like that just for the creepy and gross out factor. It was not like she would ever watch that movie again and she could not say that she enjoyed it but it was certainty one of those movies one should at least watch once in their life. Charity assured her that she didn't have anything to apologize for because it was her job but Devyn still could not help but to feel a little bad. "I still don't like hurting people...I do it enough as it is." Devyn responded, even if it was mostly muttered under her breath.
They were in the waiting room then, with Charity pointing out that maybe it would work with someone that she was more compatible with. Devyn could not help but to raise a brow as she looked at Charity, waiting for her to explain what she meant by that. "So you are saying then that we are not compatible?" Devyn asked, since that was the first thing she took out of it. "She is my height but is a TK." Devyn responded to the next question, just looking at Charity now as she waited for the woman to answer her first question.
Post by Charity Croft on Aug 15, 2015 16:25:15 GMT -6
Charity almost immediately responded with her honest answer: no, no she did not see Devyn as the type who would cuddle up with a good book to read. But Charity certainly didn't want to be the one to be judging people based on appearances and all. It just wasn't part of what she believed and went with: "Well, you could have hidden depths," She volunteered, along with a slight smile. Yes, it would have been slightly surprising, but, well, people surprised one another all the time.
At least Devyn had been willing enough to listen to the Harry Potter explanation. it helped to focus on something like that instead of the strain they'd just put their bodies through. Charity still felt a little stretched, and she knew she'd clearly done something that she wasn't supposed to be doing. And yes, she definitely agreed with Devyn: the whole splinching thing sounded awful, which, again had been the point.
Charity did catch the muttered bit, and she gave her student a slightly worried look. Charity did know Devyn's profile, knew what she'd been through and all that. Should she mention something?
The thought continued as they sat. Charity had opted to focus on the training, a safer subject by far. "Well, there are a lot of factors that work in here," Charity said, adding a slight shrug, "who knows what could actually work? It takes a lot of experimentation and practice to get these things right." Charity added another nod. "But don't worry: I'm sure we'll get it," she gave Devyn another reassuring smile before turning. It shouldn't be too much longer till they were seen to.

She could have hidden depths? Well, that was true because there things about Devyn that she kept hidden and that really no one knew about her. That was how she liked it because they would not realize how mess up, damaged, or cursed she really was. "True, I do have a kink about being sexuality attracted to woman whose names start with the letter C." Devyn said, followed by chuckling a little. It was of course a joke and she did tell herself that she was not supposed to be play flirting with Charity but she honestly could not help it.
Devyn was getting into those dark feelings and just feelings in general and she always pushed them off to the side by making a flirtatious comment or changing the subject. Charity didn't say anything, so Devyn assumed that the older woman didn't hear her; which was perfectly fine. Dev was now trying to focus on them getting checked and getting out of here. That was all. Charity answered her question but not in the way that Devyn had asked it. She had asked if Charity didn’t think they were compatible and while Charity explained it in a way that made sense, it didn't fully satisfy Devyn.
Dev just gave a simple nod, and accepted it for the time being to not get upset over it. "Yeah, just got to keep working on it." Dev responded but was still not sure if she would try it again with how things went and now how she was worried about it. Then someone called them back so Devyn reached to try and help Charity up; if the woman would allow her, and helped her grab a seat before getting one next to her. Then one of the people in the room going to tend to Charity while someone else tended to Devyn.

The mention of sex almost had Charity rolling her eyes at this point. "Isn't your girlfriend named Veronica or something?" Charity asked, arching a brow. yes, that was a subtle dig at the awful attempt at flirtation (and Charity thought she was bad) and a reminder that the girl had a significant other. Perhaps that would work better than getting flustered. Besides, the more Devyn did it, the more of an immunity to it Charity could actually build up.
They'd reached the infirmary regardless, and Charity had offered up her explanation. She felt like she'd done a good job of it, but something in the way Devyn held herself did have Charity wondering slightly. She didn't want to comment on it, just in case she was off or something. The girl did insist on keeping working on it, which had Charity grinning and nodding.
Then it was up, back. Charity leaned on Devyn, again wanting to make sure that Devyn actually made it inside. Then the trainer took over some of her authority, explaining the situation to the various infirmary workers, making sure that both she and Devyn were attended to. As Charity pretty well expected, most of the problems with her were just her being tired from doing something she'd never done before. there were aspirin and a cold press for her head, so at least that was an improvement.

"It's Vera and I was only kidding, but even if I was not I could still have a kink for liking females who names start with a C and still end up with a girl's whose name starts with a V." Devyn pointed out. She did sort of get the point Charity was trying to make which just had her letting out a small sigh. Way too many people were uptight about this whole flirting thing when she was just having fun and sort of doing things out of habit. You think everyone that knew her for over a month would be used to this sort of thing from her. No matter, she was just going to have to work harder to not mess up; eve if it always felt like she was working hard at not messing something up.
Devyn still felt mixed feelings about what she wanted to try and pull off and as it stood now she was not going to try it again. However; her mind was subject to change so after a nap and something more to eat she might be up to trying it again. She didn't know and right now she didn't really care about anything other than hearing that Charity was fine. They were being checked out now and once the doc was done cleaning Devyn's eyes and ears he gave the usual response that went with her having issues after using her power.
The reasons she had to deal with the eyes and ears bleeding problem was because of her sensitive sense. Her nose would have likely ended up bleeding next if they kept at it. She was given some meds to help but as usual Devyn just tucked them away in her pocket and planned to stash them away and return them later since she didn't plan on taking them. She hated medication. "You alright?" Devyn asked after going to where Charity was being checked out at and peeked in.

Devyn ended up overexplaining the whole comment and Charity almost felt like sighing with frustration. Yes, it all made sense, but why go through all the effort of explaining it all out like that? Well, Charity could only hope that the point she'd been trying to make had sunk in at least a little for the slightly rebellious young woman. The last thing Charity wanted was to deal with a student crush or anything along those lines.
Not that they could really bother with that while they were being checked out. Charity proved to be perfectly amendable to everything. The ice pack had gone to her head and she was holding it as Devyn approached. "Yep!" she said, smiling. "Just a bit sore in the head, which is actually pretty normal for a training session," an oh so fun side effect of her power, which was almost constantly going off in this school. "How about you?" Charity looked Devyn over, wondering if there was something there she should be looking for.
Maybe Charity should actually go and ask one of the staff. She was already moving to her feet, ready to go and look for one if Devyn should prove to be even the slightest bit uncooperative.
Post by Devyn Solway on Aug 15, 2015 18:19:02 GMT -6
Devyn probably could have ended up with a crush on Charity if the older woman would have been a bit more receptive of her flirts or even played along a little. Showing no interest at all made it hard to feel anything towards someone when you could actually get something out of someone else and even less when you have a girlfriend who you loved. So Charity didn't have anything to worry about in terms of Devyn getting those kinds of feelings for her trainer.
She still thought Charity was hot of course but most of the time when Devyn was flirting she was just playing and being herself. It only ever got serious if the other person made it serious and that still remained true. Devyn smiled to hear that Charity was fine and other then her head being sore that she was okay. That helped Devyn feel a lot better and slightly more inclined to give that new 'ability' a try. Not today, she still needed to think on it and practice on her own just trying to adjust her beat form in different ways for practice.
"I'm good. Nothing to worry about, just dealing with my sense being all out of whack and just need to take it easy." Devyn responded, which was not a lie. It was not the whole truth since she left out that she should be taking her medication they gave her but she didn't see that as important. Plus they were pretty much done for the day then since she doubted they should get back into training so soon. "Thanks for training me today. Sorry things didn't go so well today and that we didn't get to what you had planned." Devyn apologized, feeling like she had a lot to apologize for.
Post by Charity Croft on Aug 15, 2015 18:32:08 GMT -6
Good, nothing to worry about, and Charity very nearly believed that. She didn't want to call Devyn on it, not while they were still at the trusting building part of the relationship. Far better to just let it go for now. Charity could check up with the infirmary staff later.
The apology had Charity smiling. "Devyn, it's fine really. This went way better than it could have," Charity explained, adding a slight eye roll. "Like I said, I've had a lot worse. And this is definitely something we're gonna want to keep doing. We can work on my thing later, since this is something you want to do. It might be good to practice with, like, some other things. Maybe see if you can take something inorganic, or start with something smaller than a person, like a pet, or even the staff cat."
That last had Charity grinning. She could just see how thrilled Humphries would be at being sucked into that shadowy void. Given how he acted, Charity couldn't help but feel like he deserved it on some level.
