"Bummer," Tim offered, adding a little laugh. he leaned back, looking up at the screen for a moment, "but no big. That's why I plunked us down all the way up here," he gestured around them. "Nobody around to really complain," he wiggled again, "and if they do, I can just give them the stare."
He waited for a moment before whipping to look at Erin. His eyes went wide and buggy and he tilted his face slightly to the side. A hand went up to hover near his head, fingers extended toward her in a slightly aggressive gesture. He said nothing, just letting the facial expression do all the conveying necessary.

Tim assured her that it was no big deal and that was why he had picked the seat that he did for them. At any rate, she just hoped that he was not too loud. She had never seen the movie before and wanted to at least hear what had to be said. He could talk all he wanted when there was a fight scene or not really any talking. She would not mind it then. She paused in her eating of her popcorn when he spoke of giving anyone that had a problem 'the stare'. Erin hesitated a moment, wondering if she should ask or even look over to him.
Despite her better judgement she glanced over to him, just in time for him to look at her. Great, now she had to see it. She wanted to see it. Her full attention was on Tim as he pulled off this; the stare'. It was...wow. Erin's mouth fell open a little, only playing it off by slowly sliding some popcorn into her mouth. "I don't know if I should praise you, be worried, or just slowly look back to the screen where it’s safe." Erin said, chuckling a little to show she didn't mean anything offensive by it. The stare would certainly have an effect of making whoever had an issue fall silent.

Tim held the stare for a while longer. if anything, his eyes seemed to bug even further, somehow not needing to blink, and he even rose slightly out of his seat. He only paused when Erin made her comment, and then slid back into his seat, grinning and nodding.
"Yeah, it's a gift," he admitted before rubbing at his eyes to work some of it. "I picked that up before I ever found out I was a mutant or anything," he reached for his drink, taking a sip before adjusting again, tapping the seat and alternating between looking up at the screen and getting things together.
"You should totally be worried though: that's the point. Or look away. Or both," Tim let out a slight chuckle before settling in, staring up at the screen now. He did need to blink a lot more, but that wasn't too much to handle, not too much at all.

Erin moved in her seat a little as Tim kept staring. If he kept it up she was going to end up throwing popcorn at him to get him to blink and stop. If that didn't work, well she was going to end up losing her soda. He was even rising in his seat a little, which had Erin moving further away in her own seat, debating if she wanted to move yet another seat over away from him. She thought she was weird, but this was a bit too weird. Heh, thinks the girl who grew up in Japan. Erin thought to herself, slightly amused which was why she calmed down a little.
Thankfully Tim seemed done showing her this skill of his and was being 'normal' again. "All by yourself or you got it from someone else?" Erin asked when Tim informed her that he had picked up the 'skill' before he was a mutant. She kept munching on her popcorn the whole time, glancing to the screen when she would spot an advertisement that she had yet to see or that she thought was pretty interesting. "Got it, hopefully you don’t have to use it because man that is...odd." Erin said, taking a sip from her soda and looking to the screen once more.
A thought crossed her mind, figuring she could get it out before the ad was dozen and the movie would start. She figured Tim would already know, but it didn't hurt to let him know in person. "I met your Karsen friend one on one a while back. I don't like him. Just thought I let you know." Erin said, pleased with how forward she was able to be at that. She even smiled from how pleased she was with herself before she focused up at the screen, munching away.

"Oh, it's a secret technique passed down by my people for generations," Tim said offhandedly, before settling himself back into the seat. He wiggled and flexed, knowing that it took a good deal of work to get a seat to start conforming to your butt. Tim fully intended to spend as much work on that as he possibly could. He ended up grinning as Erin talked about the weirdness. "You know it: That's our specialty."
He winked before pulling out some of his smuggled in snacks. Various boxes of candy started appearing, and he appeared to be sliding a two-liter of soda from out under his shirt. He paused and looked over at Erin as she talked about Karsen. "Yeah," he admitted before reaching back under his shirt, "Karsen told me about it," he grunted and wiggled the soda a little more out, "I think he mentioned building revenge bots or something. What did you do to him anyway? Did you call him a mad scientist? 'cuz he hates that."
Tim grunted and pulled the 2-liter out. "Mostly because it's totally true," he began tapping on the cap before giving Erin a "and you know it" look.

For real, or is her joking....had to tell with him. Erin thought to herself as she looked at Tim. Yes, he was certainly an odd one but she could not help but to like him in some ways and be concerned in others. While she was able to handle being around him a lot easier than she was when it came to females, it was only because he was a guy. She still felt off about him but she had yet to make a real friend-friend; by her standards, with anyone. With the girls she knew, she felt like it was more of a 'they like me because I give them things' and with guys it was more of...that was complicated.
With guys it was like she was okay because she didn't have the hots for them but she still did not feel like she had bonded with any of them just yet. "Hey, I'm leet. Odd to those who are not leet." Erin corrected him. She did not view herself as weird, odd, or crazy; she was more of that cool, hot, and leetest of nerds out there. At least in her opinion and way of thinking she was, and no one could tell her different. Well, they could and if it was over a computer of video game she would own them but in person she didn't know what she would say or do.
Tim confirmed that his friend; Karsen was his name, had told him already. Snitch. Erin thought to herself, adding to more reason why she didn't like that machine supporter of a loser. "If he had any of his little bots come after me, he can forget ever having a life involving technology by the time I'm done with him." Erin said, just thinking of how she would wreck his everything. She had a nice virus that would do well in that regard, minus the fact that it was still a work in progress and often had a habit of deleting itself before it was done all that she had programmed it to do. Many a cheap laptop had been sacrificed for this virus, but she would take the risk and use it if Karsen tried something.
"I think it was more so because he is a supporter of the machines and I'm down for destroying them when they get too smart." Erin confessed, but she didn't really. She didn’t really get that guy but was nodding at the whole mad scientist. Or at least, the kid liked to act like one but she felt like he was nothing more than a troll boy that probably got everything he wanted from mommy and daddy so thought he was the coolest thing out there with his stupid little robots and talking to them like they were his friends. She wanted to think that they were his only friends, but Tim broke that.
"He is a loser at any rate, no offense to you." Erin muttered out, taking a drink of her soda and munching on her popcorn still.

Tim kept opening his soda as Erin explained. He had to wince slightly as she threatened the bots. He definitely didn't want to admit to being supportive of that idea, to the point where he'd actually been all for it and offered suggestions for how to possibly improve the design. Erin definitely sounded downright anti-tech there, which Tim hadn't expected to come from her any time soon.
The explanation continued: something about being smart. "Well, nobody wants a T-9000," Tim pointed out. He coughed to cover the noise of fully opening his soda. He set the cap to the side. "We got enough people that are kinda like that," his mind immediately jumped to Roxana Strix. he adjusted the cap.
"And hey," he looked over at her, "he's a loser like the rest of us. We gotta band together. Guy is in the guild and he's doing the final adjustments to our headsets for the next major raids, so you gotta give him props for that," Tim took a swig of the soda, and when he lowered it, he smacked his lips. "Seriously, you're acting like you ran into Doctor Doom or something. Karsen's more like that Mica kid from Heroes, only a little less adorable and without a stripper mom..." Tim trailed off, tilting his head, "at least I think so, should ask him sometime."

If Erin knew that Tim was along with the idea, oh she would so get her revenge on him as well. It was not like she didn't like technology, she loved it. She just didn't love the idea of giving things artificial intelligence and body parts that modeled there in anyways. Yes, she was fine making a robot that opened a beer or had one job in putting a car together. However; when you started to make them look like humans, do multiple jobs, and give them the intelligence to think and 'feel' then it was a problem for her and she saw all those who wanted to do such a thing as foolish and stupid.
"No, because you make that T-9000 and then it starts to think that it feels and ask you questions before it realizes humans are flawed and must be destroyed." Erin said, with every word making it clear how she felt on the matter. Super computer, video games, and other basics technology she was fine with but advanced humanoid stuff was a no go. "They are at least people...not machines." Erin said, putting an emphasis on it by pointing popcorn at Tim before eating it. Then Tim said something that had Erin raising a brow and giving him a weird look.
Clearly he misunderstood the kind of nerd/geek she was and she misunderstood the kind he was if he believed that. "I'm not a loser and the only reason I'm okay with dealing with him is because he is you friend, is making the headsets for us, and because I only dealt with him once. Once was enough however with that machine lover." Erin said, feeling like that she was slightly being a bit more mean to the guy, but he was down with the machines. He would be against the human race when the AI war would happen. Erin looked at him when he gave the example, thinking about it for a moment as she opened up the box of candy she got and started to munch on it.
"So long as he is a machine lover, he is my enemy. The same goes for you if you become a machine lover." Erin said, and with the she focused on the movie.

Tim was tempted to point out that what Erin said about the robot was precisely his point: nobody wanted that sort of thing. They were angling more toward a Data type of robot than the other way, and the sooner they realized that eventually something like that was going to pop out of the assembly line, the sooner they'd all just get along with it. There was that emphasis on machines and people again, and Tim almost ended up laughing, though he took a handful of the popcorn.
"Sure you are," he said. "Just not in the way that's actually bad. More in, like, we're not the ones at the top of the social hierarchy and don't wanna be. It's like all the shows and movies and stuff say," he gestured toward the screen. "We're all the losers banded together against the machine or whatever."
He took the handful of popcorn, almost chuckling as she insisted on the whole machine thing. "Man, you are gonna eat this movie up," he said, before settling back into his seat. After all, the previews were starting to come on. he did need to reach over and grab a few more handfuls of popcorn though: he needed plenty of ammunition on hand.

Erin would have liked if Tim made it clear that none of them actually wanted that kind of robot, because from how her conversation had went with Karsen it seemed like he so wanted to make something like that. His power did allow him to talk to machines and just the way he had said things made Erin feel like he was going to be the guy that made the sex bot in the future. After all, who told someone that a vending machine likes it when people put money in her or it? It was just creepy! Plus, what even determined a computers gender? If it had a few more zeros then ones or if it was programmed to identify as female.
Would she have a crush on a female computer? No way, she was sure of it...right? This is why she didn't want to talk or think about such things because it just got complicated and super weird fast. Terminator came to mind each time, which helped just fuel her hate for the idea and insure she was going to be on the side of the human race. She gave Tim a look when he said that she was a loser but not in the bad way. Was there a goof way to be a loser? Well she supposed if you lost at a competition but were not chocked up about it then it was okay to be in a loser in that case because not everyone could be a winner. "I'm still not a loser." Erin mumbled out, since she was very stubborn about not lumping herself in such a category.
Yes, she didn't really care that she was not at the top of the social hierarchy or that not everyone liked video games or geeked out on certain things like she did. Did not make her a loser, it made her leet. Clearly she needed to give Tim some leet lessons so he understood the difference and his eyes were opened to understanding that there was a difference. She would not do it now; they had a movie to watch and not the time to battle out the difference between losers, nerds, geeks, and leets. "Oh yeah, totally. Heard that it’s basically about Iron Man making a super intelligent robot that concludes what every super robot does about the human race. Or something like that." Erin said, quickly going silent as the movie started.
She would be practically glued to the screen the whole time. Only absentmindedly eating her popcorn, eating her treats, drinking her beverage, and offering Tim some by just casually nudging him with whatever she was offering without looking at him.

Tim was tempted to continue with the loser diatribe, and had they been somewhere else besides a theater, he likely would have. His point was that they needed to take ownership of the word, like they needed to take ownership of the whole being a mutant thing and actually live it out. You stole the power from it when you did that. Pretty basic human rights dialogue right there, but it was something to consider for another time.
For now, now they had a movie about a super intelligent robot deciding humanity.
But first, previews.
"OH, C'MON!" Tim practically yelled at one. "Ain't nobody gonna pay money to see an Antman movie. Yeah, your power is talking to ants. There's a reason you weren't in Avengers till now, dork," Tim let out a snort and then readjusted, taking a swig out of the orange soda sitting next to him, before offering it toward Erin. Not like he didn't have enough for both of them. Well, so long as she didn't go crazy, that is. Because he definitely was.

Erin of course watched the previews but she was nowhere near as into them as Tim seemed to be. They were just showing what was coming out next so you had a desire to come to the movies again and it was a form of forced advertisement that you could not simply change the channel or fast forward to. Erin startled a little; thankfully not using her power, when Tim suddenly yelled out. Okay, so this is what he meant by getting excited while watching a movie? The actual movie had not started yet and she was already slightly regretting doing this.
Perhaps she should have just streamed it and watched it with him in the privacy in her own room or somewhere where people would not be silently our out loud judging you. "Settle down. The way they have it is pretty decent. Clearly he can do more than just talk to ants or else they would not have been able to make a movie off of it." Erin pointed out. In all honestly, she didn't see how being a part of the Avengers was anything that meant you were awesome. Tons of heroes that were awesome were not a part of the group and she was still iffy about how Thor even counted. He was a god after all, that was sort of cheating when you compared the other members.
Then again they didn't even have all of the avengers on the team yet. She was most looking forward to Black Widow, but did she even count. Ugh, there were way too many universes for her to keep up with and she felt like she would never be able to be a successful comics or superhero nerd. She was fine with just sticking to just video games, thankfully. "I kind of want to see a preview for that new Aquaman." Erin muttered out, figuring it was still fine to do some chatting but she was speaking softly.

"Like shrinking really counts either," Tim said, rolling his eyes. "You ever noticed that they have to invent plots for the shrinkers to actually be useful? That's why they made the Atom a doctor: so he could do stuff," yes, Tim did read his fair share of comic books, like every good nerd did. He also thought it was absolutely ludicrous that they were getting an Ant-Man movie before the Black Panther one, or maybe one about someone who was even cooler, if that was even possible.
Tim wiggled the soda again, almost absently, trying to at least get Erin to confirm whether she wanted it or not. "Ah, you mean Dothraki Aquaman," he said, chuckling and reaching up to push his glasses back up his nose. "It'll probably be dark and colorless and kind of cool in that ironic way. But--OH C'MON, NOBODY WANTS TO SEE TOMORROWLAND, STOP TRYING SO HARD!" and the popcorn flied screenward.
Post by Erin Hackett on Jul 17, 2015 12:18:16 GMT -6
Tim didn't seem to think that being able to shrink down really small at will had any benefits to it. Did he not think of the possibility of how easy it would be to kill someone when you were that small and strong? Like you literally could crawl inside them and grow big and kill them in the most gruesome way possible. She blinked a few times when he brought up Atom being a doctor. "Wait, he is. In Arrow he is just some rich guy who rarely even using the whole getting small thing. Is more like a knock off Iron Man in that." Erin said, because no she did not read the comics.
She liked more so watching the movies, TV show, and playing the video games. Comics were not that big of a deal unless they were certain ones, because she was pretty pick about them. That was what also made her a different kind of nerd, because she was more about the games, movies, shows, and hacking and less about the collectibles comics, and super hero. Okay, so she did do the collectibles thing but that was in the whole plush and figurines area. Erin nodded her head yes at the whole Dothraki Aquaman, since she did get that reference since she watched Game of Thrones, mainly for the boobs. She startled at Tim's next yelling.
Okay, she was really going to have to use her power at this rate because her level of embarrassment tolerance was not going to be able to handle this. Note to herself, never go to the movies with Tim again. I wonder if his gf is okay with dealing with this sort of thing. Erin thought to herself as she debated if she should just use her power or give Tim a heads up. "I actually did want to see it and I'm going to have to use my power soon if you don't settle. Going to cause me to get a nosebleed and pass out depending on how long I might have to use it." Erin went ahead and told him because she was hoping the fact that; she would pass out trying to use the power for before and the whole movie would certainly do some damage to her, would be enough to get Tim to settle.

Arrow? "You mean the show that watered down the fandom to appeal to teenage girls' vaginas?" Tim asked, looking over at Erin with a raised brow. Yes, he could be a snob about certain things. He'd actually viewed a few episodes and pretty well concluded that Arrow could be lumped in with Smallville and all those other attempts to make superheros mainstream. Heroes had been the only thing that had worked, and now it was almost hipster to actually like them (this might have been part of the reason behind Tim's personal love for it, though he'd die before actually admitting as much).
Well, there was the whole film to yell at and get distracted by. Tim didn't notice Erin's jumping, mostly because he was focused on the screen in front of him and his own nerd-induced rage at what was happening. He was already digging down for another handful of popcorn to throw when he heard Erin speaking. He leaned over, doing what you always do in theaters to hear someone.
Tim looked over. "C'mon, I did warn you!" he said. Finally he sighed and rolled his eyes, settling in. Of course, soon he was already mumbling about how George Clooney couldn't save a movie from looking like a boring knockoff of every popular movie to come out in the last decade or so. But hey: it was mumbling now, and it died to nothing as the actual title cards started to appear. That had to count for something, right?
