Nobody Gets Left Behind

Alistair didn't really keep much company with women outside of Evelyn or his own Mother and sisters; Out of choice more then anything else. The work always came first... And hearing his employer discuss her underwear wasn't exactly the done thing, even by personal bodyguard standards. Yes, it was these reasons why her comment had flared some degree of embarrassment...
Evelyn however moved on in the conversation, confirming what Alistair already knew that Drew was extremely protective of his sister, and vice versa. Alistair pitied the man who stole Evelyn's heart, since he would have to prove himself to not only Drew Conner but also himself... The same could be said for Evelyn when it came to Erika.

Alistair knew she felt the same way about the female as he did, but despite that, here they were both acting in Drew's best interest and happiness over their own personal opinions; They both cared for him enough to put aside their own feelings, respect his choice, and just put into effect what they could in terms of making the transition into the relationship becoming publicly confirmed as seamlessly as possible... It was another aspect of their lives that they shared, this undying desire to protect Drew.
Of course, Alistair also held that same desire when it came to Evelyn.

"I know, Drew ain't exactly the type to just start asking questions without due reason to," Alistair agreed, shrugging his shoulders a little before looking down into the deep amber liquid in his glass. "But I know he's ganna get suspicious... Although since only me and you are ganna know the truth, he's never going to know for certain... And neither will the press. Rumours die week to week.. It'll be yesterday's news before you know it." He lifted his gaze to meet Evelyn's, grinning a little. "I hope you don't get a guy who's as much trouble as Drew's affair of the heart. Although if you do, pick someone who's gotten married in Japan. I've always fancied visitin' there." He was joking of course, the banter he and Evelyn back and forthed was something Alistair always found himself looking forward to.

Nodding in agreement, Evelyn knew for a fact that her brother would suspect she had a hand in it all, but part of her also thought that at the end of the day, he probably didn't want to know. Not really. It was easier when you didn't and she had a feeling this was something Drew was better off without knowing. Keeping secrets from your beloved wasn't always as simple as the media made it out to be, and he already had enough to keep in the dark from the girl he loved.

Snorting, the brunette's head shook. "No worries there, Alistair," she said honestly. Evelyn falling in love was such an alien subject. It wasn't something she saw coming. Evelyn was the last person anyone would expect waving the white flag. No, Evelyn was quite content as it was. Besides, her actually falling in love meant there had to be some level of trust, and thus far, there was only two people she did trust. She was related to one of them, and the second was her body guard.

Not exactly love story material.

But honestly? Evelyn was fine being alone. She didn't need love, nor crave it. That didn't mean it was impossible, or that it would never happen, of course. Like Drew, he hadn't expected it either, and voila, it had happened right before his eyes without notice. Of course, claiming that Erika was the only one would have been a lie; he'd had conflicted emotions about the demon girl and the annoying redhead, but neither of which seemed to quite match up to what he had with Erika. "Besides, you're one to talk."

Drew wasn't exactly an idiot; far from it, and it was clear even a lesser man would see the coloration of the disappearance of the marriage certificate and the convenient Italy trip undertaken by his personal bodyguard. But suspicions were merely that, and Alistair would make certain that Drew would never know for certain. This was simply because of his perfectionist work ethic; He would leave such a lack of evidence that even Drew Conner wouldn't be able to prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt... Although he did highly doubt Drew would delve too far into situation; Why rock the boat, when it was swaying in his favour anyway?

Alistair found himself chuckling as his female charge snorted at his comment, rebuking it with one of her own. Evelyn Conner... Falling in love and her in the same sentence didn't seem to outright mix. She wasn't someone who would ever go out looking for romantic affection, or any affection for that matter. She was independent, a woman who knew her own mind, and was perfectly content with simply being on her own. Alistair knew she didn't place having a relationship high on her list of life priorities, although aspect of their goals they shared; For a moment however, Alistair considered that potential situation. It was a funny thing, almost immediately he felt he would be be far more forthright in making sure someone who won Evelyn's heart was, in his eyes, worthy enough to hold it then how he was with Erika and Drew. He furrowed his eyes a moment, taking a log sip of the alcohol, pushing the thought to the back of his mind; He supposed the reason would be Evelyn's far more reserved nature as opposed to her brother's; Drew knew how to handle his heart, while for Evelyn it would be unfamiliar territory.

He then placed the glass back down, empty, the welcome heat the drink had left in his throat bringing him from his thoughts. "I'm one to talk?" He smirked a little, raising a brow. Was she referring to his own current lack of romance in his own life? Well, she knew the obvious answer to that one. "Evelyn, if I had a girl on my arm I wouldn't be able to spend as much time by yours and Drew's side, now, would I?" He replied. "And you know me, ruled by my head. The heart is a messy thing." Love wasn't exactly out of Alistair's capacity... But he knew his place, he knew where his priorities had to be; And he was perfectly fine with that. He didn't crave romantic affection, nor would he feel the need to go looking for it... But if Drew was anything to go by, love had a habit of simply stealing your heart when you least expected it.

"As if we'd let you off the hook that easily," she commented, her eyebrow quirking as she smirked. No, she wasn't at all worried about their beloved bodyguard being swept away by some mysterious woman. That was the last thing Evelyn was worried about. In fact, it seemed as if both she and Alistair shared the same beliefs and stance when it came to romantic affection. It was something neither of them needed, nor craved. They seemed to both be just fine being on their own. Why someone people actively sought it out, she would never understand. Then again, neither had Drew, and look where he was now.

She supposed he could hardly be blamed though.

"I suppose I'm glad we don't have to worry about you getting distracted. A distracted bodyguard is never a good thing." She lifted her glass to her lips at that and took a deep swig of the brown liquid. Grimacing slightly as she felt the burning sensation down her throat, she placed the empty glass on the table. "That doesn't mean we wouldn't be happy for you, of course. You're part of our family whether you like it or not, and as you well know already, we take care of our own."

Even though Evelyn didn't at all agree with her brother's choices when it comes to the matter of his heart, Evelyn would never stop supporting him. Maybe it was a twin thing, or maybe it was the fierce loyalty she felt towards him because he was part of her family. At the end of the day, the reason didn't matter. Drew was the one person she would do anything for, no matter the cost. Alistair was close to the top of that list as well, and everything he'd ever done had only further proved his worth to remain on that list.

Alistair smirked a little at her comment, quirking an eyebrow; Evelyn knew he wouldn't allow any female, or male, to pull him from his convictions regarding the Conners.
Alistair and Evelyn shared a number of similar opinions, but perhaps this one regarding romance was one of the more unusual compared to the general consensus of others. Neither of them had any intention of seeking out a partner, with both Alistair and his charge placing far more priority on their careers and on the future of the Conner family business. That wasn't to say that this could not change... Fate had a habit of twisting you up and weighing love on your heart when you least expected it, as shown by Drew in his affection for Erika. Normally when you were not looking for it was when you found yourself wrapped up and entangled in messy emotions... That being said, for the time being, Alistair was determined to remain focused on the more important factors in his life then a lack of romance.

"Distraction ain't exactly part of my practise," He spoke, noting how Evelyn grimaced slightly after finishing her drink; The kickback from the alcohol could be like a kick of a mule if you weren't used to the heavier spirit. He found an honest smile slipping onto his lips as Evelyn mentioned being happy for him if he did find himself afflicted with an effect of the heart. "Same here... After I've givin' them the once over, of course." While that was partially a joke, Alistair was aware Evelyn knew if off his own back or both his and Drew's, any one who stole Evelyn's heart would be ruthlessly analysed and watched over. Alistair would support her with everything he had, as he did with Drew, regardless of the young man's choices; But god help any who thought they could harm Evelyn Conner under Alistair's watch. His loyalty towards the pair was fierce... They were the only ones, bar his family, whom he would lay his life down for.

"Now, now, Evelyn, don't get soft on me," He smiled a little, repeating her own words to him from earlier, before picking up the folder she'd provided containing the necessary information, tapping his finger on the spine. "I'll contact you when I'm at the airport. I don't mean to love you and leave you, but I've got a plane to catch." He smirked a little playfully. "I'll send you a postcard."

"Of course," she replied in turn. "Though, you have nothing to worry about." No, love was not in the cards for one Evelyn Conner. She was hardly the kind of person who threw her heart carelessly around and if she ever did - she would do her fair share of hard analyzing. She might not have been the most experienced within the field, but she knew herself well enough to know that it took a great kind of person to even make her think about the possibility. It wasn't something she took lightly. In a way, she even expected herself to be harder with the subject than her brother or Alistair would ever be.

Chuckling softly, Evelyn nodded. "I would expect nothing less," she replied. She then raised her glass at him, tipping at it slightly, as if giving him a quick cheer. She then leaned back in her chair, her foot crossing over the other as she returned to her drink. It was nice, having someone who was discreet enough to do the kind of things you couldn't. Or rather, she could, but that would suddenly appear far more suspicious for her to disappear for a week than for Alistair to.

She had no trouble with getting her hands dirty, but even Evelyn could admit that Alistair was far better at the job than what she ever would be.
