Alistair Vincent Holmes
FACE CLAIM: Tim Roth
---------------------------------
AGE: 24
GENDER: Male
ORIENTATION: Bisexual
POSITION: Academy Security and personal bodyguard
POWER: Blood Manipulation
Alistair had the ability to manipulate and control his own blood, and to a lesser extent the blood of close family members. He has complete control of his blood flow and the density of the fluid.
Until Alistair is wounded, his ability is unuseable, and so he uses this as a factor in regards to if he should respond physically to a confrontation or not. As soon as he’s physically hurt, generally that’s the line that shifts his focus to physically attacking an opponent. Once Alistair has access to his blood, he can manipulate the fluid freely in a form of blood kinesis, generally drawing it from the wound and creating long, viscous tendrils of blood which he uses to strike, cut, slash and lacerate assailants. He can manipulate the blood’s solidity to a point where wielding it is similar to the sharpness of a blade, enabling him to violently deal with and incapacitate aggressors.
While he cannot control the blood of others save for close family members, if another is wounded and Alistair gains blood to blood contact, he can seep into their circulatory system and for around a minute (after one full circulation in the body, his blood is dispersed) he can manipulate their blood. This extends to slowing their blood flow to help prevent blood loss, slow their blood flow to knock them out, or kill them. He can also stimulate healing in his own body since he can draw his blood cells to a wound faster then average, and if his blood in another he can do the same for them. This is by no means a healing factor, and can do little more then help aid healing or hold off further blood loss until further help arrives.
LIMITATIONS:
He cannot control the blood of non relations, unless he has blood to blood contact, and even then control only lasts around a minute.
If his blood “tendrils” are broken by another in a fight, he loses the blood used to make that particular tendril. If this happens too much during a confrontation, Alistair will grow weaker until he collapses. If he doesn’t receive medical help, he risks dying.
If Alistair is wounded significantly, he needs medical aid to heal. Regardless of his ability to manipulate his blood, he can only hold it’s flow back for so long, and in such a weakened state can only prevent extensive blood loss for around half an hour without aid before falling unconscious.
SIDE-EFFECTS:
Using his ability generally requires extensive concentration, and as such comes with severe headaches, nosebleeds and fatigue if used longer then around an hour. The more blood he goes through, the quicker these can take effect. He also risks potential heart attacks from stressing out his heart from extensive use of his ability, as well as collapsing and potentially dying from bloodloss if he looses too much blood.
“Blood to blood” contact requires an even stronger level of concentration, and due to his own blood being steadily saturated by that of the other, throughout that minute it becomes gradually harder to control.
The moment he puts his ability into practise (espeically if his heartrate isn't beating at a rate fast enough to aid it) he will suffer with momentary dizziness until his heartrate catches up with the action. If his heartrate is already quickened, it's easier, but that doesn't prevent it altogether. The dizziness settles once he stops drawing the blood directly from the wound.
If he draws the blood out too quickly with a slow heartrate, he can send his heart into a panic, and runs the risk of blacking out, heart attacks and can suffer with heart palpertations for around a week after drawing his blood out too quickly.
Using his ability in any respect causes Alistair great pain; Through intense training he’s learnt to deal with it, but it doesn’t hurt any less.
Alistair risks becoming infected with blood transfered diseases if he uses his "blood to blood contact" aspect of his ability with someone who is infected.
HEIGHT: 5"8
HAIR COLOR: Brown
EYE COLOR: Hazel
MISC: His body is covered with scars from various training incidents, since Alistair cannot use his ability without being wounded in some way; He greatly dislikes harming himself on purpose, and will avoid this if he can. Generally these are covered up with his clothing.
PERSONALITY:
Rude to a degree and friendly to a point depending on who he's dealing with, classy and calculating, Alister is a man who can come across as sharp tongued, who’s central joy and purpose in life is his work; both with protecting the Conner twins and Bellefonte Academy.
Outwardly, Alistar is a positive individual, and often will see the brighter side of a situation, no matter how horrific it is, as long as his charges are safe. He’s a gentleman in terms of his manners, having been brought up with the social class knowledge necessary for guarding those of the upper classes. If you were to speak to him, this calm, teasing, individual seems very far from any violent bodyguard.
He likes to think of himself as approachable, and hey, if you’ve got a problem and he happens to be around he wouldn’t think twice about helping those he feels deserve it. That's not to say he's overly nice; Alistair will not hesitate to tease someone or banter with them if they start it first, and especially if he thinks they're enjoying it as much as he is, and on occasion he can come across as being quite sarcastic.
Beyond this light hearted nature however, lurks an intelligent man judging your every word and movement, and evaluating your potential. This is something which was so reinforced by his training, he often does it without even thinking.
Alistair’s training pushes the ability to talk your way out of a situation pior to violence, and this is something he excels in. Alistair can adapt to different given situations, and reacts judging on what’s the most beneficial outcome. Violence is always an option, although unless the situation calls for it or he’s given a direct order from his emplyors, Alistair will strive to incapacitate an opponent before attempting any form of aggression or violence. To him, there is always a way out, always a method of leaving a situation unharmed, depending on how you play your opponent.
Alistair never reacts without thinking a situation through, and upon entering any situation will calculate various potential outcomes of it. Even while attempting to talk his way out of a violent situation, he is judging and calculating the best way to take out the aggressor, even if he seems completely calm. He’s quite thick skinned, and rarely raises to the insults or comments of others directed at him personally, but is more likely to raise to anything negative directed towards the Conners or anyone one he respects.
He does not exactly revel in violence, but sees it as more as something that simply comes with the career he’s chosen. While he remains generally calm while in nerve wracking situations, if he becomes gravely hurt afterwards he has a tendency to panic; He remembers the sight of his Father and brother after they were shot, and so fears dying himself if he's been badly injured.
His employers, the Conner twins, are his life. Alistar will go above and beyond for them, valuing their wellbeing over his own life. While his actions are generally performed meaningfully, he’s not past falsifying kindness or any other emotion in order to gain something for his employers, no matter how he may feel personally towards the person he’s dealing with; Although this can cause a moral conflict for him. If asked to perform something extreme which may potentially harm the other person, despite his obligations Alistair would potentially rebel against it. Anyone close to the Conner twins is closely monitored and evaluated, for their weaknesses, potential safety risks and their plus points. He will place those he knows the twins care for under his protection umbrella, regardless if they want it or not. When it comes to his work Alistar is obedient, resilient and a perfectionist. He makes his choices with his charges in mind, and everything he does in terms of them is done to protect them and further progress their company. He holds an intense respect for the both of them, and views them in the same vein as family.

FATHER: Victor Vincent Holmes (Deceased)
MOTHER: Mary May Holmes
SIBLINGS: Victor Jr. Holmes (Deceased), Olivia Holmes, Gigi Holmes
WORTHY MENTIONS: None
CHILDHOOD:
Alistair was born to into the Holmes family as the second born son, and although he wasn’t aware at a young age, his family life was a restricted yet privileged environment. The Homes family have been connected to the world’s elite for generations, their tireless work and devotion earning them respect and a reputation to be admired. As bodyguards, they were known for going above and beyond for their employers, putting their lives on the line and being highly tuned in their skillsets.
Alistair’s grandfather worked for a prominent New York crime family, The Decores, with the work he was given far from legal. Once his son was old enough, he began to train him up to replace him, and so began the family’s legacy.
Alistair’s father Vincent Holmes took up his father’s mantle, although his demeanor and the way in which he went about his work was far less aggressive and violent then his predecessor. He preferred to talk things through then leap to physical confrontations, which led to him gaining respect from the other prominent families as well as earning him a high ranking position among the Decores. During this time Victor Vincent developed a friendship with various other business socialites, including the billionaire James Conner.
Alistair’s father kept his work separate to his family life, although he kept them in a secluded area in order to keep them far from the work life he led. Alistair was raised mostly by his mother Mary, who home schooled both him and his older brother Victor Jr.
It was from her the boys learned manners and etiquette, which she herself had prided herself in after being taught it at a finishing school.
Due to his childhood being so secluded, Alistair and his older brother grew close, becoming each other’s best friend. They’d often sneak past the security at their family’s estate, getting into the city to explore and returning home before their mother found out.
Alistair’s life was relatively uneventful until he was 11 years old. His Father had been suffering with issues at work, as his boss one of the Decore sons had chosen to ignore a previously established agreement with another crime family, selling a number of industrial warehouses instead to James Conner.
The deal went down despite Victor Holmes’s protests, his pleading for James to drop the arrangement falling on deaf ears. The rival crime family who’d been the original benefactors of the deal made their irritation known, claiming the Decores had disrespected their agreement. They threatened the family, and the resulting tit for tat rivalry came to a number of violent heads.
Victor Holmes attempted to confront and negotiate with the head of the rival family, only to be refused and threatened. A few nights after the heated confrontation, once Victor Holmes had returned home, the family were attacked by a number of men. Guns were brandished and threats issued, until the entire scene descended into horrific violence.
Alistair, who’d been out with his mother and his sisters, came home to find his Father and older brother, who at the time was 18, shot and dying.
They didn’t survive the night.
The loss of his Father and brother struck him hard, with his family having to pack up and leave their million pound home. His mother pleaded for aid from her husband’s previous employer, who gave her a little help but then refused any more on the grounds he didn’t want to antagonize an already heated situation between the crime families.
However, a turn of events for the family came from James Conner, who seemingly had blamed himself for the death of Victor and his son since he hadn’t listened to his friend’s concerns regarding the deal. The Conner family took them in, providing them with a home and financial support. Alistair and his family were beyond grateful.
ADOLESCENCE:
The support continued through Alistair’s teenage years, even paying for a number of activities that the young boy wanted to gain a skillset in. Much to his Mother’s displeasure, Alistair wanted to learn as many of the skills that his father had known, something which became a form of therapy, a way to remember him.
He trained in hand to hand combat from the age of 12, learning at an exceptionally fast rate. Taking to it naturally, Alistair excelled in all manner of fighting styles, developing a natural sense for judging an opponents’ next move.
During one of his training sessions, Alistair sustained a punch to the jaw which caused him to bleed. The opponent, another guy at the class, began to taunt him before defying the rules of the training session and laying in another hit. Alistair struck back, grabbing hold of his arm to prevent the strike; The other boy freaked, although not due to Alistair’s fast reaction time.
Blood that was seeping from his cut had been draw out, and was writhing down from his wound and wrapping around his arm, forming long tendrils of fluid. Alistair upon realising this also freaked out, at which point the blood lost this shape and fell to the floor.
Around a week later a recruiter turned up to his house, and although at first he claimed nothing had happened and that whatever it was had been a fluke thing, he eventually agreed to go willingly with the recruiter in an effort to understand exactly what had happened to him.
Life at the Academy was hard one in terms of his training, due to Alistair unable to demonstrate his ability unless he was injured in some way. He learnt to pin prick his fingers, and use this small opening to learn greater control of his craft. Due to his sessions involving his mutant ability few and far between, Alistair focused on learning physical skills such as hand to hand combat, disciplining himself to learning how to judge the movement of attackers and the fastest methods of incapacitation without the use of his powers. As he continued through his Bellefonte education, his skillset continued to grow, as he took a great interest in learning more of what his Father knew, researching guns and various other weaponry.
ADULTHOOD:
He graduated and left at 18, returning home where he continued to train, planning on taking up work as a respectable bodyguard to honor his Father or something else in security.
While he continued to go through various training classes and better hone his gunsman skills, he heard of the horrific events that took place at Bellefonte Academy, and more specifically what happened to Drew Conner. This event shook him, having known the twins since their Father had offered them his support following the death of his Father and his brother; He viewed them as family.
As soon as the boy returned home, Alistair presented himself at one of their grand gatherings the Conner family often held and presented his offer to Drew.
The proposition was considered, and accepted, with Alistair then offering his skillset to Bellefonte Academy as a member of the security team once the twins decided on returning to the school.
Alistair’s duties as bodyguard to the twins extends to more then just protecting them, such as driving them, cleaning up any messes they get themselves into and in all protecting the company’s reputation. It’s rumored he had a hand in the disappearance of Erika Bellefonte’s marriage certificate.
