Evelyn Louise Conner
FACE CLAIM: Alicia Vikander
---------------------------------
AGE: 18
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Pansexual
POSITION: College Student
POWER: Psychometry
Evelyn has the ability to understand the "life story" of an object by using her senses around it. This means that by hearing, tasting, touching, seeing and smelling she can pick up "residual energy" from the object. No, this is in no way connected to ghosts, or anything like it. Her power works very much like a mind reader's does, as she can read the memories of the objects she touches. She can see who the object has been with, what it has been through, how old it is, it's last location, and similar things.
These images appear like a short movie. Whether or not they include sound, smell or any of the other senses besides sight, depends entirely on the memory in question. These are often random, and more often than not, Evelyn cannot control what memory she picks up on, unless she has some basic knowledge about the object.
For example. She cannot pick up a random object and pick whatever memory she wants. She has to know what she's looking for in order to find the specifics. Whenever she doesn't, the memory that appear will be random.
Most of the time, Evelyn is in control of her ability, meaning that these memories doesn't appear every time she picks up an item or eat food. she can consciously turn her ability off and on, but that doesn't mean it's bullet proof. She has and is still experiencing memories popping into her head when accidentally touching an object.
LIMITATIONS:
- Evelyn's ability only work for inanimate objects; she cannot read the history of sentient things, such as humans or animals. However, there is a possibility for her to learn this in the future with a lot of practice and training.
- This ability only works through her senses, meaning that Evelyn has to hear, see, touch, smell, taste or touch an object to read its memory.
- Objects that are older or who have been handled and loved by people longer have a stronger psychic impact; those that are newly made or ignored are harder to read. Meaning that it's easier for her to pick up on memories of object with a lot of history, whereas the ones with less of a history has less to choose from, thus making it harder for her.
- Whenever she reads a memory, the ability suck her out of the present moment entirely, meaning that her body will freeze up and she will be hard to reach. While the memory plays, she doesn't sense anything going on outside the memory. This might last from anything between a few seconds to few minutes, all depending on the length of the memory.
- The more detailed a memory is, the harder it will be for her to properly get a read on it, as it can overload her senses, and thus cause her to black out.
SIDE-EFFECTS:
- She suffers from headaches that increase in severity the more information she gleans from objects. The more information the memory include, the quicker it'll overload her system, and can result in fainting. These headaches can grow into migraines and further develop into nose bleeds and nausea.
- Evelyn often suffers from confusion after reading an object. The confusion can be anything from wondering where she is, what time it is (day/month/year). This happens especially if the memory she reads is further away from the present time.
- Can sometimes encounter issues with seeing inanimate objects as inanimate; can often end up personifying an object, as if it has emotions and thoughts of its own.
A short, approximately 5'3" brunette with matching brown eyes stands with her arms crossed and a clearly bored expression in front of a school building. The school itself looks rather expensive. A sign above the building reads "Bellefonte Academy". It's a still photo. It's recent. She has a fair complexion, clean lines and a demeanor that implies she knows very well how to handle herself. She wears a beautiful white dress that compliments her complexion, making her slim body look especially gracious. There's something scribbled on the back; "Evelyn Conner, last day of high school."
Another photo shows a younger version of the girl. She looks less mean, and a little more "cheeky". The girl has her hair tied up in a ponytail. She's sitting on a hospital bed next to another boy. The children carries something akin to a surprised, or maybe shocked expression. As if they just received news they don't know quite how to handle. The girl looks a little out of it, as if in disbelief. On the back of the photo, the text reads; "Drew and Eve, age 14. Health check after Drew got hurt during a sport's activity. They checked us both."There's another photo. Taken the same day as the one before. The photo shows a doctor examining the two kids. In his hand there's blood samples. Someone is holding a phone in the background and looks as if they're gesturing towards the children. The text on the back reads; "Manifestation. Mutants. Boarding school. Super powered?"
The next photo shows someone in a suit sitting next to the same children from the earlier pictures. There's a mustache drawn over the man's lips. The text reads; "The recruiter. He showed up merely weeks after our doctor's visit. I swear, he didn't know what he signed up for."* * *The same girl from the photos sits on a private plane, a camera directed towards her, which she's apparently holding herself. "For the sake of proof..." she begins, a faint smirk touching her lips. "Roughly two weeks ago, my brother got hurt during some kind of sport's event. He got a concussion and got sent to the doctor. The doctor noticed something... Strange, and then asked me to come in for a checkup as well." The young girl looks away for a moment.
"My name is Evelyn Louise Conner. I'm fourteen years old, and my twin, Andy-" she smirks. "Drew, and I are the children of the renown creators of the Conner imperium. And yes. That Conner family." She sighs as she flips her hair over her shoulder.
"Apparently we're something called mutants. The doctor tested us and contacted this school... Bellefonte Academy. Within two weeks they showed up and here we are." She gestured towards the plane. "On our way to Montana." There's obvious disgust in her voice.
"C'est la vie," says another voice; darker, and the girl rolls her eyes as the camera shuts off.* * *Evelyn sat across the table of the small coffee house. She wasn't really paying much attention to the other people seated around the small locale. Instead, she was constantly looking at her phone. A sweet here. A touch there. Her phone beeped, but she didn't react. Not right away. However, what did cause her to pause was the mention of a name. And not just any name either. Her brother's. Curiously, her eyes moved to the side, towards a nearby table. Around it, there was a group of girls. High schoolers, from the looks of it. Maybe sixteen, seventeen. They all attended at Bellefonte. That much was obvious.
"Isn't she his sister?" one of them asked. One of the girl shrugged. Another one nodded. "I heard he's quite the womanizer..."
Evelyn's lips pursed into a smirk.
"Who told you that?" another girl asked. "DL of course. It's all over her blog!" All the girls giggled. "He's so cute too. I bet I could easily--"
Standing, Evelyn moved towards the girls. With grace, she sat down next to one of them and folded her hands in her lap. "Now, now, girls," she began, pursing her lips further. "That's hardly the way to talk about someone who could snap their fingers to make you disappear without a trace," she mused, her head tilting somewhat.
The girls' eyes widened slightly and they looked at each other.
"And ladies? Trust me when I say that there is nothing easy about my brother."* * *"What do you do for fun?"
Evelyn looked up from the book and sighed. "For fun?" she asked, her expression stoic. "That depends. What do you mean by 'fun'?" A smirk formed on the brunette's lips and her brown eyes gleamed.
"Like.. hobbies and stuff."
She looked at the boy for a moment before drawing her breath. She closed the book and put it down on the table. "I play the violin. I do sports. Such as swimming and gymnastics." Her fingers tapped against the book. "I read too, though that much ought to be obvious."
"Oh.. That's pretty c-cool."
She looked at the clearly flustered boy again. She knew who he was. Of course she did. It was her job to know. Always be prepared. Always be one step ahead. Always. "I would say so," she agreed, musing. "You're David, right?" she asked, peeking up at him through her lashes, putting on her ever-so-charming smile. The boy nodded and the brunette smiled warmly. "You're a music major. You play the cello." He nodded again, the flush spreading across his cheeks. "You're quite talented."
"T-thank you."
Her smile widened. God, what an absolutely dreadful human being. He seemed so weak. She didn't like weak people. Weakness was a waste of time. There was no room for it in this world. And he didn't make much of an interesting subject to talk to either. Even so, the brunette kept her pleasant and welcoming smile on her lips as she looked down at the book again. "Well--"
"You're really--"
The boy froze and stared at something behind her. Evelyn turned, her eyes locking upon a similar, almost identical pair of brown eyes.
"I should-- uh. I'll talk to you later!"
Before Evelyn could even turn around again, the boy had already vanished. "Aw," she said as she lifted her hand to flip her hair over her shoulder. "You have to work on that you know," she said, the pleasant smile she had carried only seconds before turned into a devious smirk. "And they all think you're such a charmer. Poor fools."
