Cassidy couldn't help but chuckle along with the whole headache conversation. "Honestly they barely bother me anymore, they happen so often," he remarked lightly. It seemed like headaches were a side effect for just about every power he'd seen. He held back a sigh at her explanation; he knew what she meant all too well. The bitterness and frustration from before slowly seeped back in, a jagged bolt of red cutting across his yellow irises.
"It's just... everyone's going through this stuff, and I can see it, but... I don't know how to help!" he admitted, throwing a hand up in defeat to punctuate the statement. The hand settled to rest against his face as he continued. "Like, what's the point in being able to know someone's hurting, but not be able to fix it?" he said in exasperation.
Cassidy managed to laugh despite the subject, switching from dead serious to completely cracking up with terrifying speed. "You- You should see your face...!" he managed between laughs. "Okay yeah, I need a refill for sure," he said, reaching over to refill his cup with a random variety. As far as parties went, this one wasn't going too badly.

Charity nearly sighed with relief as Cassidy insisted that his side effects didn't bother him as much any more. So many of the students she read had those problems, and there was only so much she could do about it. It often made her feel helpless, trapped to essentially explain to people how things worked without really providing any real solution for it.
Which put her in just the right mindset for Cassidy's next question. Charity let out a little laugh as she recognized the similarities, nodding. "That's kind of how life works," she said, favoring him with a sad smile. "Though it does get a bit easier as you get older, you're still going to be stuck. You just have to do the best you can manage and hope that you make a difference."
And she took another sip of her new flavors, nodding. She gestured for a few more students to come by. most of them did seem to be enjoying sitting around and drinking the excellent hot cocoa and talking to each other and all. Charity could feel her smile widening as she turned to Cassidy. "Your heart's in the right place, and that's what matters most," she insisted, nodding.
