NAME: Cassidy Lothaire Laramie
NICKNAME: Cassie, although he really doesn't care how people shorten his name.
AGE: 15
GENDER: Male
ORIENTATION: Panromantic Demisexual
POSITION: Student
FACE CLAIM: Daniel Padilla
POWER: Empathy
Cassidy's power enables him to see the emotions of others. Everyone he encounters has a colored aura around them that shows their current state of mind. The aura is a visible manifestation of the subtle changes in a human when they feel different emotions; his mutated eyes allow him to see things such as body temperature and almost indiscernible tics and tells. Cassidy's subconscious mind translates them into a more easily processed form that he can consciously read. Besides the brief route through the subconscious, his power is almost exclusively tied to his eyes
themselves, which are also the only visible sign of his mutation. His eyes often change color to fit his own mood.
Limitations
- Cassidy's powers are "read-only"; while he can see the moods of others, he is unable to use his mutation to manipulate them.
- Those who are exceptionally good at hiding their feelings may be able to partially deceive Cassidy's eyes, depending on the person and what is being concealed.
- Some complex or conflicting emotions can make the aura "muddled", resulting in the kind of brown you get when you mix too many colors together and making it more difficult for Cassidy to read.
- It can't be turned off sans closing his eyes.
Side-Effects
- Near-constant eye strain from passive use
- Headaches and other physical reactions when in close proximity to particularly strong emotions
- Difficulty seeing when in a large group of people as the vision is clouded by the colored auras
APPEARANCE SECTION: Cassidy has a mostly slim, almost feminine build, at about 5'5 and 110 pounds. He isn't particularly muscular, which lends to his younger, boyish image. He has short to medium length dark brown hair, which he usually doesn't bother to style. His tan skin is clear with little to know scars or blemishes to speak of.
His most striking feature is his eyes, as they are the visible manifestation of his mutation. More often than not, his eyes are the murky brown color of too many mixed emotions at once. However, his irises can change to a whole range of colors, both natural and strikingly unusual, such as pink or bright orange. The colors can occasionally swirl together without creating brown, leading to two or three-toned eyes, which is particularly startling to unsuspecting people. Their changing colors is mostly out of his control, as it directly reflects his present emotions.
MUST HAVE APPAREL: Cassidy wears whatever he finds "comfy". Light T-shirts and shorts or sweatpants are his usual outfits. In colder weather, he often wears a light sweatjacket, which is as close to warm clothing he would go. He hates confining clothing and will avoid it as much as possible. A notable feature of his attire are the many different types of mood jewelry he wears. He's never spotted without at least one or two mood rings, a mood necklace, and often a mood bracelet or two. It's often viewed as being a girly accessory choice, but Cassidy considers them invaluable. He can occasionally be seen consulting them when he feels conflicted, as if they were a Magic 8 Ball. Despite being quite wealthy, his preferred clothing rarely reflects this, as he despises the feel of suits and similar formal attire.
PERSONALITY SECTION: Cassidy is typically viewed as being a carefree and happy individual. He makes friends easily and is usually fun to be around. He treats everyone as a potential friend and tries to see the best in everyone. He tends to be optimistic, or at least act the part. He has a playful side too, often bordering on being flirty, although it is almost always unintentional. Most people who meet him would say he was innocent or sheltered. While he tends to be a happy person, he also can be quite codependant and clingy. He forms strong bonds with the people around him, and is usually reluctant to leave their company. He looks to others for protection, and feels unsafe and unhappy when he is alone. His personality has somewhat feminine qualities, likely due to the vast difference between relationship between his mother and his relationship with his
father.
While he is great at reading others, he is almost always in the dark about his own emotions. He has trouble sorting out his own feelings in the midst of everyone else's, hence brown being the typical neutral state of his eyes. He often looks to others as if they could tell him how to feel. It's not uncommon for him to go from carefree to nervous and dependent over the course of a few minutes. His ability to read others make secrets hard to keep from him, leading to being rather terrible at keeping the secrets of others. He also has a tendency to be honest, even when it's painful, as he has a hatred of those who he deems to be liars. Overall, he rarely thinks before speaking.
EXTRA QUIRK: Cassidy has a habit of wiping his eyes as if to wipe away all the colors, sometimes giving the illusion that he's crying.

MOTHER: Samantha Laramie (Goes by her title of Doctor Laramie)

CHILDHOOD: Cassidy had a mostly happy childhood. He was an only child who lived in a house that seemed much too large for a small child. He didn't have many friends his age at the manor, so he took every opportunity to get to know every child that happened to walk in the door. He loved when the chefs would bring their kids to work; in fact, he usually asked them to when no one was looking. Most of the staff adored him and were always happy to do anything they could do for him. His only other friend was his pet fox, Avlynn, who his parents bought for him on his tenth birthday. The two are still inseparable to this day.
His father was a wealthy business man and his mother a famous scientist, so Cassidy grew up with everything a child could ever ask for. He always had the best toys, the newest clothes, and of course, the best child care that money could buy. His parents were far too busy at work to raise him themselves, so they hired a nanny or five to do it for them. At first, this didn't bother Cassidy at all; they'd still come home every night for the dinner the chef's prepared. They'd tell him they loved him every morning, and every night as they tucked him into bed. His mother would even take weekends off to spend time with him, which were closely cherished memories. That was enough; as long as they loved him, he would be fine.
ADOLESCENCE: ((So this ended up being really long because I'm silly and wrote it more like a short story than a history. To save space, I've put this section in a Google Doc: Here ))

SAMPLE: The soft glow of the lit room shifted and morphed in time with the steady flickering of the lights overhead. The still air carried with it the harsh odor of chemical disinfectants, the sterile smell heavy in the air. Throughout the room, machines and lab equipment hummed and whirred, creating a symphony of scientific progress. Two figures stood in the room, one kneeling before the other as if a knight bowing to their queen, her auburn hair falling over her face. The other was tall, her dark hair contrasting with the blindingly white labcoat she wore. This figure was the first one to speak up, her voice soft. "You don't know how much this means to me, Avlynn," she said to the kneeling figure. The young woman looked up, her hair falling away to reveal her sharp features and serious expression.
"It is an honor, m-" she began before cutting herself off. She'd almost let that accursed word leave her mouth, the word she swore would never roll off of her tongue again. She seemed puzzled at the outstretched hand held out to her, but after a moment she took it and was helped to her feet. The older woman smiled at her, her gaze infuriatingly filled with pity.
"I fear Cassidy may develop a mutation, and soon. Please, keep an eye on him, its very important," the older woman said, her tone serious. "Come, we have much work to do. His party will begin soon; I'd hate to be late," she finished. With that, Doctor Laramie turned towards the door and opened it with a flick of her wrist. She hurried through the door, a red fox padding along at her feet.
USERNAME: Hailfire Alicorn (I usually shorten it to "Hail", but I'm fine with pretty much anything except "Ali")
AGE GROUP: 15
EXPERIENCE: I've been writing stories since I was little, but my first actual RP was a Warriors forum back in 2012. I've mostly RP'd Pokemon related things, so I'll consider this an adventure into a new genre.
WHERE DID YOU FIND US?: A friend from another RP, goes by Sky on here, I believe.
