Evan chuckled at the Lion King quote before nodding at his suggestion. He got out of bed and stretched a little before looking around to find some sun screen. He was way too pale for the sun. He didn't need to burn up just because he wanted to enjoy the outdoors.
They spent the walk up to the clearing talking video games and their respective significant others, shooting the shit and all that that it didn't take them too long to until they reached their destination.

Definitely fun to talk and chat. Though the more Tim found out about Charlie, the more he felt, well, bad for what he'd done to her and what happened. He hadn't meant to and... ugh, he should show it to Lux, see what she thought. he already...
speaking of already, they seemed to already be there. Tim nodded, looking around. "Yeah, it looks pretty cool and all," he walked around. There were flowers all over the place, looking, well, almost like someone had painted them there or something. So many flowers that Tim almost couldn't believe it was real, hence, well, the whole painting thing.
"This is definitely gonna be good," he said, walking around. He extended his arms and turned to Evan, grinning and laughing a little. "Just look at this place! it's like someone set it up for awesome romantic getaways! Man, I could kiss you!" he lowered his arms, slapped them, then looked serious for a moment: "No homo." Then he looked around. "man, Lux is just going to flip when she sees this, even if, like, no fireflies show up. Should we be looking for nests or something? Do fireflies have nests? Man, where's the internet when you need it..."
Evan grinned at Tim's response, his eyes already roaming about the place. Maybe one of these days, he'd have to bring Charlie here. He didn't actually know whether she would like fireflies but it was worth a shot.
Though he chuckled at Tim's infectious excitement, Evan narrowed his eyes when Tim called the No homo remark. "Yes homo. Very yes homo. You come here and kiss me right now." Evan turned his cheek to Tim and poked it expectantly. Of course he didn't expect Tim to actually do it but it was fun to tease him.

"What? No man, c'mon, don't be weird," said Tim, giving him a severe look for a few seconds. Though, come to think of it, Tim didn't actually know Evan's sexuality or anything. The guy dated a girl, which usually made it kinda obvious, but Tim knew well enough to know that dating someone didn't automatically make you whatever sexuality or whatever. It was complicated and junk.
Still, he wanted to just roll over there. "Don't make me pick a flower and put it in your hair," he said, pointing a threatening finger. He waggled it. "'cuz I so will do it."
Best threat ever.
Tim was already looking around again though, wondering if there was something else he should check out before they take off for the canoes and decidedly more manly, hetero man partner activities.
Evan continued with his kissy face, laughing at the sheer silliness as he played with Tim's discomfort. He didn't keep it up too long though, he wasn't much of a dick. But the fact that Tim rolled with it made Evan grin.
"Daisies, Tim. Look for daisies." He chuckled as he looked around to find some stuff he could bring back to Charlie later.
Once they were done in the clearing, Evan led the way to where he thought he saw a shack that could potentially house some canoes and lo, there it was with an old guy in a white shirt and blue pants.
After enquiring the rental, Evan managed to bring out the canoe into the water, strapping himself down in his life vest.

Daisies... those were.... uh, the ones that were white with yellow faces? Tim was tempted to ask, but he didn't want to look like a moron. He actually did point at some flowers as they were exiting, but he figured they'd pick those up on the way back from their adventure.
Yep, canoes, plus dude ready to rent the canoes. Money exchanged hands, and soon Tim was looking over the life vests. "Why do I get the feeling that these were new back in the nineties?" he asked, holding one up and giving it a suspicious look. He then turned to look out at the water, reaching a hand up to push at his glasses.
"I dunno. A ways? I haven't been in a boat since, like, summer camp, and that was... uh, dang, who knows how long ago," Tim shrugged. he then sighed, sliding into one of the least funky looking life vests, getting it buckled around him. He looked over at Evan, raising his brows. "You do know what you're doing, right? I think I, like, saw people canoeing on a YouTube vid or something once..."
Chuckling at Tim's remark, Evan just shoved himself in one of the life vests. As long as it kept him afloat should they capsize for some odd reason, they were fine as they were. "Probably because they were?" He responded with a big grin in the renter's direction.
Evan looked at Tim when he was asked of his competency. He then looked down at the canoe and nodded slowly. "You pedal right if you wanna steer left, you pedal left if you wanna steer right. If you wanna go straight, you pedal both sides? Yeah..." Evan nodded, not even sure if his logic was infallible. It couldn't be that hard.
Could it?
He pushed the boat into the water and gestured for Tim to climb in before he did, grabbing the pedals and pushing them further into the water. "If we get stranded, can you call on your bats to help us out?"

Tim finished getting a life vest on and adjusting. He glanced at the renter as Evan did, but didn't seem quite as amused by the whole situation as his buddy. Then again, Tim didn't really know how the whole vest thing worked.
Speaking of working: Evan apparently knew the whole canoeing thing or at least as much as Tim. Tim nodded. "Yeah, cool. That's what I was thinking. Plus we gotta be careful not to, like, tip the boat over or try to splash with the oars too much,' Tim nodded and started toward the boat, helping Evan to the water. Naturally Tim's "friend" had to suggest that Tim get in the boat first. He gave Evan a long look, then nodded and stepped in, soon gripping the edges as the boat started to wobble slightly.
"Dude, I'm not a Disney princess," he replied, rolling his eyes, "I can't just whistle and make them come to me or something. I can turn into a freakish quasi bat creature at will though, which is super helpful for this." Tim took a few more steps, the boat wobbling all the way. He eventually half lunged half dove onto the seat, managing to somehow get situated. "This is already seeming like a brilliant idea,' he mumbled, adjusting his glasses, which had gotten disheveled, what with the flailing and all.
"Right right," Evan nodded, a bit distractedly as he strapped his safety vest securely on him. Tim's response made him laugh though, before he shrugged and nodded. "Yeah, useful. Just don't leave me here." He warned Tim.
He chuckled lightly at the mumbling Tim was doing before he too jumped into the canoe, using his paddle to push them as far away from the shore as possible.
"This place doesn't really have anything to canoe through though. This just feels more...romantic than anything." Evan laughed nervously as he pedalled slowly.

"I won't," replied Tim. And he meant it, the whole not leaving Evan there thing. At least, he meant it for the time in which he was saying it. honestly he did. Somehow, he couldn't quite shake this feeling that he'd be sprinting off and attempting to walk across the water like one of those freaky lizards at some point though.
They were in the boat, shoving off, and Tim was looking ahead. "I thought they had some kinda thing. We can always just, I dunno, paddle out," he adjusted his glasses and looked over his shoulder. "We're wearing crappy life vests and doing masculine work like things. This is so not romantic. So."
He was tempted to add a "no homo," but instead turned and began rowing, perhaps a little harder then strictly necessary.

Evan beamed at Tim, glad his friend had his back. They weren't gonna capsize. Hopefully. And if they did, Evan knew they could like...not drown if they kept the canoe above their heads and just swam or something. Wasn't that in the first Pirates movie?
Evan okayed Tim's first statement as he pedalled before chuckling at the next. "Yeah yeah okay." He rolled his eyes and nudged his friend's arm with a wet paddle, splashing him unintentionally.

Tim wasn't entirely sure what they'd do if they capsize. His first thought was "drown," even with, or maybe especially with, the "life vests" they had strapped to their chests. Tim could swim, more or less, though he wasn't exactly an expert or anything. Bats weren't great with water either.
Just when he'd started to grumble and adjust his glasses again, he felt some water hit him. "Hey!" he protested, twisting. He purposefully flipped his paddle up, splashing some water at Evan. "Watch it with the paddle, man! We're not here to get all wet, we're here to do some water exploring and crap. Or something," truthfully, Tim hadn't really thought this whole thing out. It was kind of cool being in a boat out in the water, and he thought he'd seen some sort of outlet they could pull into and explore or something. While Tim wasn't normally the outdoors exploration type, even he couldn't help but get kind of excited at the prospect of poking around and finding some stuff out here.
Who knows, maybe they'd find a nest of something. Or Bigfoot's outhouse or something. He could always blog about it later...

"Whoops!" Evan said, his grin pretty telling of how sorry he was. When he got splashed back, he laughed and shrugged. He of course did not mind at all. Just a little bit of fun.
"Okay okay fine. We'll not have fun while we're in the water." The sensory scryer grinned and poked Tim from behind.
Evan continued paddling, looking around as he did so, enjoying the sunshine. He then saw a rock formation that looked a little out of place. "Oh hey look, what's that?"
Post by Tim Tawfeek on Sept 15, 2014 19:17:36 GMT -6
Strangely, Tim couldn't tell if that whoops was honest or not. Evan didn't strike him as the type to troll, but at the same time, this sort of encouraged trolling, as Evan himself was quick to point out. "Yeah, yeah, you know what I meant," replied Tim. He kept chuckling as he turned back around, pausing slightly to wipe a little bit of water off his glasses.
Which meant that he wasn't ready to see when Evan pointed. "hold on a sec," said Tim, putting them back on and blinking owlishly into the distance. "Is that... some kinda rock formation or something? I can't really make it out..." Tim's pretty awful day vision didn't usually come into play, since he relied on things close at hand and the whole echolocation thing generally meant that he could handle himself. Right now though, with the light playing on the water and just things in general, Tim couldn't make out details.
He even tried raising his hand to shield some of the sun off his eyes. not surprisingly, it didn't help much.
Evan chuckled and grinned widely at Tim's back. He really was just teasing. He wouldn't do anything maliciously. It just wasn't in his nature.
"Yeah. I think. It seems pretty out of place though. Let's go over there." Evan started pushing the paddle into the water. Once they got near, it turned out to be an alcove. "Okay please let there not be anything freaky in here."
