The thought of this sweet old lady without a partner saddened Elizabeth. She pouted slightly and cooed sympathetically, her hand reaching out to pat the other woman's. She didn't want to ask whether it was by death or divorce but she was supremely curious.
She then decided to concentrate on the next question, even though it brought her pain. "Nope. It's just me. Not quite ready to have anyone special." She shrugged before changing the subject.
"So what's on your agenda today? I feel like I should call you Mrs. Lola but it's too long. Do you mind if I just call you Grams? That's what I call my grandma and you kind of remind me of her." Elizabeth beamed.

The seventy year old titled her head and stared at the girl with a little pity in her eyes. "Not quite ready, huh?" She took her cup of tea and took a couple of sips before placing it back down and returning her gaze back to Liz. "Oh dear, I can say that the feeling is mutual. Ever since Joseph, my husband, died, there was just...No one that can take his place." Of course for Lola Green's case, after being a widowed she never really actively seek out for another spouse. Instead, she threw herself into her work.
The younger girl's words was deeply appreciated by Lola and she gave her a warm smile. "Oh, grams would do just fine! You call me whatever you'd like, dear. I hope I remind you of her in a good way. Are you two close?"

Shaking her head in response to Lola's rhetorical question, Elizabeth leaned forward a little as her older counterpart fed her curiosity, almost as though she read the blonde's mind. "Aww, I hope I have that kind of relationship one day. Way...way in the future." She laughed. After Beau, Elizabeth was not about to settle down. She was a romantic for sure but if the consequences of being in a relationship was that she had to deal with what Beau doled out, she wasn't ever going to settle down.
Elizabeth lit up when Lola responded positively to her nickname. "You do." Her smiled softened a bit as she recalled her tough-as-nails grandmother. "We are. I'm due to visit her sometime in July. She's been chiding me about not visiting her but every time I make plans, she says she's too busy with the farm and the horses and the market." Elizabeth giggled, rolling her eyes affectionately.
The old lady smiled sheepishly. She considered herself very lucky and very fortunate to have had the kind of relationship with her late husband, Joseph -- the one and only relationship she had ever had really. "Well I don't think that would be a problem for you, deary. You kids still have a long way to go!"
Lola Green found it heart warming that the younger girl had a good relationship with her grandmother, despite the difference of generation. With no kids, hence no grandchildren, of her own, the old woman could only hope for such. "A farm, horses and the market? That sounds interesting," she replied.
Family in Kalispell? Humph. It did not take long for the old woman to reply. "That would be a no. No familly," she said sadly with a small smile. "Except for only one -- my grandniece. She's attending that Bellefonte academy. She's the reason I'm here actually. Her parents wanted me to keep an eye on her. Can't say she's too fond of it though," she said, shrugging.
