"Oh heavens me," cursed the old lady as she almost spilled her cup of tea just a moment before she took a sip of it. She was sitting at the tables outside the cafe when loud -- very loud -- squeals had startled the granny. She sat the teacup back onto its saucer before turning around to see what all the commotion across the road was about.
A few teenage girls who could not look older than her eighteen year old grandniece were shrieking and squealing and some were even jumping with such huge smiles on their faces. Their astonished looks piqued Lola Green's curiosity. And then phones were taken out and they were then posing for pictures. What could spark such an act?
When the girls dispersed with pleased grins, one blonde stood behind. "Yoohoo!" Lola waved her napkin at the girl. "Perhaps I could get a picture too, deary?"

The attack sprung on her from the group of girls asking to get her autograph and pictures had Elizabeth grinning widely. She was always eager to meet fans since they were the reason why she could continue doing what she loved. Some asked when she was going to release a new album, another asked if she still saw Beau during her tours. She answered everything as candidly as possible and by the time they were all gone, Elizabeth heard someone calling out.
She turned, her smile still intact. It widened when she saw the source and the request was met with a small giggle. "Okay." She went over to the old lady. "Hi. Uh...would you like me to take the picture for you?" She asked.
What was the harm in asking, right? If that one blonde had a group of girls giggling and squealing in excitement like they were kids in a candy store, Lola Green certainly wanted to be in on the excitement as well.
Once the girl acknowledged the old woman, she waved her over. "Could you? That would be great." She dug into her purse and pulled out her phone -- one with a camera -- before passing it over to the girl. "Sorry, I still don't know how to take these selfies you kids call it these days."
Using her fingers, she combed her hair a little to make sure it looked good for the camera. "Snap a few, deary. Don't be shy."

Gladly accepting the phone, Elizabeth looked for the camera on the phone and set the front view camera on them. She giggled at the old lady's comment. "Well, thankfully most phones have the front view option on their cameras so it's easier." She explained before laughing at the comment about being shy.
"Oh don't worry, I'm never too shy for photos. Especially with beautiful young ladies such as yourself!" She grinned, wrapping her arm around the woman's shoulder. "Should we do a serious one or a smiling one first? Or do you want goofy pictures?"
Lola Green grinned sheepishly at the compliment she received from the other female. She waved her hand in fonrt of her supposedly red hot cheeks and it felt like she was in an old movie where the ladies fanned themselves to hide their astonishment at being called beautiful. "Oh, heavens me."
Even though the camera was in position, the seventy year opd still did a little more tweaking to her hair. Tucking a strand behind and taming the stray bits. "I hope you don't mind but could we please do all that you have suggested? Oh! I heard there's a eeerrmm duck face? Could you show it to be deary?"

Giggling at the old lady's response to her compliment, Elizabeth leaned against her gently before standing up straight. What a cutiepie, she thought to herself.
"Absolutely!" She responded without hesitation, laughing when she asked to be taught how to do duck face. Groaning playfully, Elizabeth nodded. "Just purse your lips and push out. Like this!" The blonde demonstrated, trying hard not to laugh at herself.
The old lady observed the blonde and gave her her full attention. She mimicked her actions and tried out to do the duck face a couple of times. Honestly, it felt undeniably strange. Definitely not something she would have ever thought to do before.
"Snap away, deary." Lola Green posed candidly as the girl snapped away on the phone. Finally after the last picture was taken, she looked back at the pictures that were taken. "So these are selfies," she whispered to herself. "You kids are up to funny things nowadays."

She felt supremely awkward showing someone how to do a really stupid fad but the old woman had asked and Elizabeth was not in the business of denying an old woman anything.
Once they were done with picture taking, with none of her actually making a duck face, Elizabeth returned the phone to the woman before laughing at the soft spoken words. "We really are." She nodded.
Now came the awkward pause where Elizabeth still didn't know what to do once she was done with signing autographs and taking pictures with fans. With the younger ones, they would take the pictures and walk away squealing about the fact that they had gotten to take pictures with someone famous. With the older ones, she was glad they at least asked her some questions about her work, and the occasional ones asking about her personal life. With the elderly fans, she didn't really know the protocol.
She kind of had the feeling that this woman didn't even know who she was. "Um...would that be all? Do you need me to help you with anything else, ma'am?"
The old lady admired and smiled cheekily at the pictures that had been taken -- all the while oblivious at the awkwardness the girl was experiencing.
The blonde was right however. Lola Green had no clue as to who she was. Besides the fact that the girl surely must have had some celebrity status, that was pretty much all she knew about her. But there was a reason as to why she had wanted a picture -- well, pictures -- with the blonde, and it was not just to be seen with someone famous.
"Oh, why don't you tell me about yourself, deary? You must have done something to cause such giddiness in those teens just now!" she said as she took her eyes off the phone and looked up to the girl. "My guess, with that pretty face, you surely must be a model!"

Elizabeth couldn't help but laugh at the remark coming from the sweet old lady. A model, fancy that. "Oh no. I'm not tall enough for that! And this face does not belong on the runway." She shook her head. No, she wasn't being modest. She knew her looks were more than adequate to be on the runway but she would much rather use it for the stage.
"I'm a singer. My most recent album that came out had the track about coming home and feeling alive again?" She sang a few lines from her song, not really having any hope the lady would actually recognise it.
"Anyway, I'm Liz Edison." She gave a warm and genuine smile. "And you? With that fabulous hair, you must be a model yourself?"
"A singer, how fantastic!" she said, clapping her hands together. She noted how lovely the blonde sounded when she sang a couple lines, no doubt one of her own that she said was about coming home and feeling alive again. Of course, the seventy year old had never heard of it before, nor had she seen the singer anytime before today. That much was pretty obvious.
Finally done with looking at the pictures on her phone, Lola Green switched it to sleep mode and returned her attention to the other girl. "Oh, no no no. Not a model, deary. I'm Lola and I'm just a retired old granny!" The old lady giggled. The thought of her strutting down a runway was amusing, but not something she thought of often really. "Oh, where are my manners? Please, sit and join me. Have a cuppa or a cookie or anything you'd like. It's on me."

There was a sort of faraway look that Elizabeth saw in the older woman that made her realise she obviously had never heard of Liz Edison before. It wasn't exactly a surprise. She may be locally brewed but not everyone took to her that well.
She grinned when the rather innocent reply came about before she shook her head. "Oh no, I wouldn't want to impose."
"Oh please, nonsense!" The old woman waved her hand in the air to deny Liz's comment away. Since she was fairly new to the town, Lola Green had not made many acquaintances she could have tea with. Of course there was her grandniece, Blair, but she doubted the teenager wanted to spend time sipping tea and eat biscuits with the seventy year old.
"Come on now," she said, getting up to pull a chair out for the blonde to sit before returning back to her own seat, silently hoping that the girl would accept the offer. Her hand immediately shot up when she saw one of the workers. "Yoohoo, deary, mind taking another order?"

Who was she to say no to such a sweet old lady? So Elizabeth gave Lola a sheepish grin before shrugging and sitting down across from her. When the waitress came over, the blonde musician gave her order before leaning forward, folding her arms on the table.
"Tell me, why are you alone on such a beautiful day out? There's no Mr. Lola?"
The old lady grinned widely when the young girl acquiesced and sat down across the table from her. She would not deny it, it felt nice to have some company from the younger generation. Even when she has a grandniece, Blair did not help to provide as much company as she would have liked. Plus, this blonde was apparently someone with celebrity status. Lola Green had not encountered many of those yet.
She chuckled at the question. If this was forty years ago, she would have probably given a very different and opposite reaction. "Not anymore," she said with a small smile. Her husband's death was a tragedy, but Lola has learnt how to remember him without all the pain. "And you, deary? Anyone special waiting back home?"
