The girl tried to remember if she was forgetting anything. She was going to travel light and did not plan to stay for more than a night. Two nights tops. Unless something happened and she had to endure the wilderness without coming prepared then so be it. In her mind she said she would not tempt with fate but that was just some psychology shit she liked to think when really Poppy Lockwood did not want to trek through the jungle lugging a heavy bag. Before leaving, she phoned her parents to inform them that she would be camping in the forest for the night. Or two. Then off she went into the woods forest.
It was a week into the summer and her first semester at the college had just came to an end. So she had the great idea to kick start it by going camping. It was her first time and she was very excited. Especially since she had only thought about it the day before. Impulsive, true to her personality.
During her time there, she had not encountered anyone. Not a single homo sapien in sight. Just how she liked it. Despite packing light, it did not feel very light to her shoulders. So using her power, she managed to drag it without much trouble. But after a while, she stopped. Her powers could not keep up for long. Sitting down, she replenished herself. Caught in her own mind, she did not notice the other human.

Nope, nope nope nope!
He was not staying cooped up the entire time. Sure, he could go running or jogging or freerunning or whatever, but it wasn't the same. He wanted to spend the night out under the stars! It wasn't like there was a law against that.
Or at least he didn't think there was.
He hummed silently as he trekked, sneakers rather than hiking boots allowing him to move along at a decent clip. He wasn't worried about slipping and falling or anything like that - his reflexes were just too good. He was so rarely clumsy that even if he made a mistake and did fall, he'd ( probably ) correct himself.
Either way, the plan was simple. He didn't need a tent, he just had a bag full of blankets and clothes and snacks on his back, and that? That was all he needed. Of course, deaf boys should probably not be hanging out in forests, woods, or what have you all on their own - they wouldn't be able to hear if wolves or bears or monsters came to eat them.
But none of those 'danger' things ever seemed to cross his mind.
Not that it ever did.
But was it any surprise that a determined Beau would miss the signs that pointed to another person being out there? He wasn't a tracker, and he couldn't hear her, so when he stepped into her vicinity, he very plainly spooked, jumping in place. "Woah." Though, after a second, he smiled. "Good spoht for cahmping?" He asked, signing along with the words.

Poppy Lockwood had not been sitting there for long. The point of it was to rehydrate herself take a little break before using her power again. It would not do her any good if the uncommon side effects start to kick it. Better safe than sorry. It was not like her to be cautious but knowing she would be alone in the forest, she knew it would be stupid not to. Her hand that held the water bottle stopped midway when she heard the voice.
Her head turned slowly to the intruder. It was a boy and he looked shaken up a bit. The brunette smirked and wondered if it was the sight of her that was the cause or if there was something else behind her. The smile on his face showed her that it was most probably the former.
The boy spoke with an accent -- ish -- that Poppy could not identify exactly. "Hi," she greeted and waved. His hands were moving oddly which she tried to copy. Her head tilted in confusion. She did not understand what he was doing or implying. But then it finally clicked to her. "Oh, errr nice. To. Meet. You." She said as she tried to sign it to him as well.
Unfortunately, that was one of the little signs she knew. Thanks to a certain show she watched, Poppy picked up on the easy ones. But that was about it. "I'm not sure if I'm camping here," she replied to his question. "Might walk a bit more and see where it leads. You're camping as well?"
