She was alone. The gym was empty, and she found her mind focusing on the blankness of her memories. All she could remember was waking up in the hospital with a slight headache. She couldnt focus on her cleaning, she found herself falling onto the floor, her chest suddenly seized with sobs and her eyes filled with tears. She was crying at her fear of not knowing, her blind and deafness to her past.

It was after school hours that Poppy Lockwood decided to go to the gym. Her training with Cassidy had shaped her into someone who wanted to be in shape. Well, technically. Apparently joining the swim and tennis club was not enough. She had to do some training on her own.
So in her shorts and a tee, she walked down to the gym with a towel and a water bottle in hand. When she walked through the doors, it surprised her to find the room empty. The work out stations were bare and unmoving. No sweaty bodies; nice smelling air. Except, there was a woman on the floor crying.
Shit. Of all the things she could encounter, why must it be someone crying? Her conscience got the best of her. Instead of bolting for the doors, she walked up to the woman and sat down beside her. "Hard day, huh?" asked Poppy.

Jane was quick to dry her eyes as soon as the sound of an approach meets her ears. She rubbed her eyes with ehr heavily tattooed wrists and ran a hand through her hair. She looked at Poppy quietly, sighing. "I wouldnt know. Dont have much to go by. Her voice was rough. Howw would she know what a good ay way? What a bad day was? She couldnt remember a day in her life before waking up in that hospital, so what could she go on?

What the lady said made her laugh. "Good one."
Don't have much to go one by.
Oh that was good. She was glad the woman did something unexpected rather than just tell Poppy to piss off or immediately start yapping about her problems. It was different from the ordinary and she liked it. Of course then she did not know the woman was telling the truth and not for her amusement.
A grin broke the girl's face. "Okay, my attention is yours. So why are you crying? Energy wastage right there."
The dark-haired woman did not laugh with Poppy, did not smile Her heart felt heavy in her chest, like she had lost someone she loved, yet she couldnt remember. She scoffed gently when the girl asked her why she was crying, running her pale hand though her hair again. Well... She might as well tell her. I have no clue who I am. She faced Poppy, waiting to see a reaction

It felt a little awkward for the girl when the lady did not laugh or even as much as a smile. Either she was really pissed off, or she was dead serious. Perhaps this was not a joking matter.
Yet still, Poppy could not help herself. She had to say it. It was sincere on her part. She wanted to ligten the mood. But it could also be horribly stupid of her to do so. Still, she just had to say it.
"You know, now that's a question I myself have been asking for as long as I can remember. Am I a good guy? Am I a manipulative jerk? Am I childish? I just don't know. I literally do not know who I am. It's all untested. Am I funny? Am I sarcastic? Sexy? Right old misery? Life and soul? Right handed? Left handed? A gambler? A fighter? A coward? A traitor? A liar? A nervous wreck?"
Grinning, she continued. "Nope, I'm just someone who just quoted the Doctor." Please don't kill me.
Jane looked neither impressed or amused byy th girls remark, her teeth grinding into her lips. She breathed steadily, rubbing her face. Look kid, if you cant take it seriously, please leave me alone She muttered, glaring at Poppy with her green eyes.

Yikes! It looked like the little fangirl reference she made did not help. It could have made the situation even worst. Looked like Poppy rubbed off on the wrong side.
"Guess you're not a Whovian," she muttered. The woman's glare sent chills down her back. It looked like she was serious. For real. That's because she is.
But Poppy was not one who listened to others. So the girl stayed and tried to be less annoying -- if she could help it. "Okay sorry, just thought it'll get rid of the tension in the air...so you wanna tell me your story? I've heard talking helps."
(inks a massive whovian.... just throwing it out there.)
Jane rubbed her face again, swallowing hard as she tried to ignore the girls words. "No. Not a whovian" She sighed, before leaning again against the wall and clearing her throat.
"I would if I could. But how can I tell you my story if i dont know it? The lost woman asked, her eyes staring absently into space. She clasped her hands together and sighed again.

That kept Poppy quiet. No longer did she think the girl was joking, messing around or pulling her leg.
There was true remorse sadness -- ? -- in her voice. It sounded like someone slowly dying from the inside. Which pained Poppy a little.
She took a good look at her and realized the girl was...lost. Confused. Floating in the universe aimlessly. "Well, why don't you tell me something you do know then?" Poppy offered a small smile.
The woman suddenly felt like she was being plunged into a deep black pit, a feeling she had had many a time. She rubbed her hands together as if she was cold, holding them close to her stomach. The sad distance gaze which flowed form her eyes was directed nowhere.
Again Jane cleared her throat and turned her face towards Poppy. "Well. I know that im around 24 years old, Im possibly from Canada, and that I walked out in front of a car and woke up in hospital. The police didnt know what to do with me, so Erika agreed to let me work here as a cleaner."

Poppy sat up straighter when she heard the older girl's story. It was not something she had predicted. She thought perhaps the tears were over a break up, or a fight with a friend, but nothing about amnesia.
In her 19 years of life, she had never encountered someone with memory loss. It was only in some books and many fanfictions did she came across it. It was common in movies, but no so much in real life. At least when it came to Poppy.
Knowing prying into her past would most likely upset her further, the younger girl stayed clear of it. Well, she tried too. "So how's the job? I always figure you could even clean the dorms too so you can look through people's stuff, aye?"
