The girl ran out onto the pier. As she neared the edge, she slowed her pace to catch a breath. The sun kissed her skin and a cool breeze blew her way. Her eyes scanned the surroundings. No one was in sight, just the way she liked it. The wind rustled the leaves.
Looking out at the lake, Poppy took off her shoes and jacket. After confirming she was alone, she did what she always liked loved doing. She moved her hands and then felt herself disconnecting from the world. Soon, she no longer felt the gravitational pull and floated upwards. She let out a sigh of content as she moved above the lake. This was one of her happiest times. Just levitating. It felt like she was in space moving where there was no gravity.
"Yeaaaaahhh!!" She screamed. Shutting her eyes, she did not think of what awaited for her down there. There were no ties connecting her to the ground and Poppy simply lost herself in the drug like daze. After a while, her stomach grumbled, signalling the end of it. Unfortunately for Poppy, her 30 minute mark was nearing.
Then she fell into the water. As she resurfaced, she saw a figure on the pier.

He had gone for a stroll out the lake. Any body of water fascinated him. He strolled through the woods and climbed a few trees, hopping from one to the other. His balance was amazing and it felt so good to be free. He was just now getting used to his new powers and now it was just great. Everything was more lively and more bright.
He sprinted through the woods at incredible speeds and jumped over rocks and logs and just enjoying the nature. When he came to the lake he took a breath as the sweat dripped from his forehead. He wiped it with his shirt and removed it promptly. Enzo was going to cool off when he saw a girl, floating, and then flail in the air and fall into the water.
At first he though she was drowning but the mutant quickly surfaced. Shirtless, he stood on the and of the dock and yelled out. "You good GravityGirl?" He power wasn't that hard to recognize. Any wingless flight was gravity manipulation. He had been around Bellefonte to know stuff like that.
He was kind of bummed that now he couldn't go for a swim in his underwear because of the girl's presence.

The girl had to take multiple breaths before her breathing regulates. She heard him called out to her and nodded as she stared at the boy on the pier looking down at her. A shirtless boy. A shirtless boy in underwear. The fact did not go unnoticed by Poppy. He was also very easy on the eyes.
Her eyes darted to the discarded clothes on the pier. Realizing she had no other change of clothes, Poppy stayed in the water. If she were alone like she initially thought, she would have laid down under the sun and simply wait it out for her clothes to dry. "I'm good. The water's great too, why don't you join in the fun? You look like you were ready to." She gestured to his little piece of clothing, then swam out further from the pier when suddenly a rush of tiredness washed over her. Damn, side-effects. Her stomach grumbled and her head got dizzy. That was what happened when she pushed her power to the max. It was not uncommon but at those times she was actually on the ground. "Shouldn't have pushed it," she scolded herself.
If she started then, she could reach the pier in the nick of time, just enough to haul herself out of the lake--if she was lucky to last that long. Knowing better than to stay in the water, Poppy made her way back. Upon nearing, she saw the boy who still stood on the edge of the pier. But it was too late for Poppy because another wave of tiredness hit her and pulled her under.

He couldn't help but feel a little awkward standing in the his underwear in front o a random stranger. I mean she was a mutant... but still. He stood on the dock and watched her as she fell in a began to struggle. He thought she would be fine and able to make it until she started to bob under. Then, Lorenzo rolled his eyes and she began to drown.
"Captain Enzo back at it again!" He mumbled saracastically quickly before jumping in and embracing his waist. Enhanced strength was a plus and he easily pulled her ashore. It could've been fake but she sure put on a pretty good show. He pulled her along with him until around knee deep of water and then he let go and made his own way up onto the warm sand.
He didn't bother asking her how she was doing but instead he just hollered. "You know you shouldn't been pushing your powers in the middle of a lake you dumbass." It really was a stupid idea and he felt the need to inform her about how retarded it really was. "I mean if your side effects are so bad hat you can't swim another two feet without drowning you shouldn't have been in the water in the first place." He paused and shook his head as he sunbathed on the pebbly shore.

She knew she was underwater. The side-effects had kicked in. Her body was submerged. Tired. No room to breathe. Desperate for air. Drowning. Help. Soon. Fast.
Then miraculously, she was not underwater anymore and could finally breathe. Air filled her lungs as her head emerged from the water. Strong arms carried her easily to the shore where she was then dropped. Poppy laid on her back and inhaled excessively before slowly starting to breathe regularly. The water lapped onto her legs. The moment had felt like ages, when her mind was conscious but her body was not. No matter how hard she willed with her mind, her body just did not respond.
His voice reeled her back into reality. He did not sound happy, but all Poppy could think of was the fact that she was still alive. She gave a loud laugh at how close she had came to drowning. The whole thing seemed hilarious to her; he seemed intent on telling her what kind of an idiot she had been. Which was possibly true, from his point of view, because who went to play with death? "You know, it isn't always this bad," she said looking up at the sky, did not dare to look at the face of the shirtless boy with water dripping down his body.
What she said was true. The wave of tiredness was more than what she usually felt before. Why? Maybe it was just one of those times when she pushed it too much. Poppy stood up; her stomach grumbled reminding her of another side-effect. "You're right, I'm grateful you were there. So thanks. How can I repay you, oh my savior?"

She laid there for a little too long and Enzo was about to worry. Then she got up and started talking. "Side effects are unpredictable. You as a mutant are constantly getting stronger. When testing your limits the side effects grow worse as your ability grows and builds." He rolled his eyes. "I shouldn't have to be explaining this to you... Didn't you take Mutants 101 like the rest of us in high school?" Her ignorance just had him shaken up. He usually wasn't one to nag and prod at people.
He got up, brushed the gravel off of his back, and neared the edge of the dock. Grabbing his pants he redressed but found that his shirt was soaking wet from splashes when the girl was struggling to survive. "Perfect." He groaned and slung the rag over his shoulder.
"Repay me? I take a wide variety of payments. Drugs, alcohol, sex, or just the cold hard cash. Choose your method promptly." He tried to lighten the the mood seeing how she was helplessly trying to explain herself and he felt bad.

He was nagging at her. He was nagging at her. Oh how she wished he had not saved her and just let her drown to spare her the nagging. The boy sounded like one of her teachers when she first attended the academy. As a power over-user, you would expect that she would had gotten used to people reprimanding her about her power and reckless behavior with it. In a way, yes, but she highly disliked it when the nagger was one of her peers. That just tipped her off. "Oh yes, but I wasn't a sod like you who likes playing by the books." She mumbled and grumbled to herself.
The main reason why she held back her tongue, though some snarky words may have found their way out of her mouth, was that he rescued her from drowning. If Poppy had not been in danger, she might just have a go at him. Instead, she made her way to her clothes on the pier where he stood nearby, shirtless. She put on her sneakers, ignoring the wet squishy feel of it and held her jacket. Wearing it would only ruin it, especially in her drenched state.
Poppy regarded his suggestions, he had a light and playful tone when he said it, and remembered her hungry stomach. Damn, side-effects. "Two of it, I don't think I have a supplier, and the other -- I'd think about it," she said whilst giving him an appreciative look. "Look, I'm hungry. I can buy you lunch and we can talk more over it, if you want." She shrugged."You can pick the place."

Just the sound of free food hooked Enzo's attention. With his new powers his appetite was endless. "Lunch will do." He said with a nonchalantly with a little shrug. He stomach growled a bit and he had a thought. "You got a car or something? I left my bike back at the school. I turned before I got to the lake so my stomach is killing me." He strolled over to the edge of the woods and waved her over.
"You might be sorry you offered." Enzo smirked and rubbed his touch with a sigh. "How does pizza sound?"

It seemed both of the college students were hungry. Poppy was glad he agreed on lunch. This way, she could work off her conscience and feeling indebted towards him. Although, paying for lunch was hardly anywhere near to what he had done which was saving her ass from drowning. "Awesome. Though I'm afraid we'd have to walk," she winced. It was just another reminder for the girl that she was one of the population that had a license but no car. "Unless you want to steal a car," she muttered jokingly.
Before she could ask what he had meant when he said he turned, he was already heading towards the edge of the woods. From where she stood, she had a nice view of his behind. Smiling to herself, Poppy strolled over and caught up to the boy -- ignoring the wet squishy sounds her sneakers were making.
"Sorry? Keep your shirt off and I think we're good," she said coyly. Without analyzing to much on what she had just said, the girl agreed. Poppy had worked herself up quite an appetite. "As long as you don't eat less than me, anything's fine really. Any specific pizza parlor in mind?" She let him lead the way.
