It had been a week or so since she had visited the lake. She had a goal in mind and she was determined to accomplish it no matter how long it took. The mental break was well needed, but the separation from the lake had been difficult.
It was a beautiful autumn day, the skies were blue, the trees were a variety of colors, and every time the wind blew Callie couldn’t help but to take in a deep breath of the crisp air. She had done her hair in one of her signature messy side braids, and had decided on wearing her cowgirl hat and boots today. She tied the front of her red flannel shirt and placed her pocket cam in her back pocket. She was glad to be returning to the lake. Even though it had only been a week, it felt likes months. Yes, she had been down to the stables, and around the grounds. But she had avoid the lake because she knew if she went, she would jump right back into her project and she knew that her mind wasn’t ready for it. Today was a different story.
Being the morning person that she was Callie had been out by the lake well before the sun rose. It was Sunday, and she knew that most of the students would probably be sleeping way past noon. Lazy Sunday as daddy would always say. But for Callie, no day was a lazy day. She was always up before dawn even if she hadn’t gone to bed well past two in the morning. There were even some occasions that she would be up so late, that there was no point in her going to be because it would only be an hour worth of sleep at best.
Callie had watch the sun rise over the lake in peace. No one was around to disturb one of the most beautiful moments in a day. Her pocket cam was in hand of course, wanting to capture every moment she could. She had taken a seat in her spot against a rock by the corner of the lake. As the morning went on she had carefully filmed bits and pieces of her surroundings. Her shades were interfering with the clarity in which she saw everything, she had placed them on the ground next to her.
She was mesmerized by everything. As the day went on there were a few people here and there who came through, but most didn’t stay long. She’d smile and wave at who ever came, but was more focused on her project. It was so close to completion.
