Erika life was blessed. Or rather, had been blessed lately. She was paying attention to and staying on top of her school work, she was in a stable relationship which she hadn't managed to screw up yet and well, she was happy. Lately she hadn't felt the past urges to self-destruct and go on some kind of crazy binge. She felt more mature and responsible. Heck, she felt a lot more comfortable and confident with herself than what she'd felt in ages.
Sure, life wasn't perfect. She wasn't naive. There was still that cynical part of her hiding somewhere deep within, but really, she had few things to complain about and lately, she'd taught herself to focus on the things that was good, rather than the things that was bad.
Like, take this gym class for example. She saw this as an wonderful opportunity to get to know someone new. Okay, so maybe she was being a tad optimistic, which honestly, was somewhat uncharacteristic, but really, was it such a bad thing?
The teacher had asked them to pair up, and Erika was doing just that. Walking straight up to the first unfamiliar face she saw, she put her hands on her hips and greeted them with a smile. "Heya! You wanna team up?" What could possibly go wrong?

It wasn’t that Callie didn’t like gym. She would just rather be outside. It was gym, they could go outside if they had wanted to right? Either way it didn’t matter at this point. The sooner class was over the sooner she could go outside. When the teacher told everyone to pair up Callie bobbled her head from side to side as her icy blue eyes scanned the various faces that were in class with her. She stopped when someone walked up and asked if she wanted to team up. Her eyes looked at the girl who she’s definitely seen around before. What was her name again? She played with the tips of her sloppy side braid. “Surely!” She said with a friendly smile, as she clasped her hands together and took a step closer to her.
Callie did what she always did and looked her from toe to head. Always taking extra time and focus on the face. There was so much detail. If only she had her pocket cam on her. She studied the girls face, making mental notes of her prominent features. Oh how she wished she could just take a picture. In an attempt to not seem so creepy she averted her eyes to the teacher, then back to her new partner. There were still a few people looking for a partner. She was glad she had one already. “I wonder what we’re gonna do today.” She said, her southern drawl not as conspicuous as it normally was.

A relived sigh fell from the brunette's lips at the friendly way the other girl responded. Erika wasn't sure what she'd expected - or if she'd even expected anything at all. Time had taught the young brunette not to expect overly much. Still, she couldn't quite help herself and her lips turned upwards into a radiant smile as she looked at the blonde. She didn't remember seeing her around before - but seeing as how busy Erika had been, what with getting married and focusing on school, that was hardly a surprise.
Following the girl's gaze towards the teacher, Erika shrugged. "Probably something we won't enjoy overly much, but I suppose there could be worse things to do." She looked back at the girl and smiled again. Then, the telekinetic reached her hand out. "Name's Erika by the way. Nice to meet you." If anything, this was a wonderful opportunity to make a new friend - even if whatever they got assigned to do sucked.

The smile remained on the blonde's face, and grew larger when the other girl returned the smile. She heard the teacher help pair up the last few people together. Callie let out a small laugh, "True. There's always somethin' that could be worse for any situation." She kept playing with her hair, it was really a habit she should try to fix, but she couldn't help it. If she wasn't playing with her hair, she'd need her pocket came, but that unfortunately she didn't have with her. It was really a shame too, she would so love to film her new partner.
"Nice to meet you Erika. My name's Callie, Callie Montgomery." Her drawl more evident whenever she said her name. The blonde reached out and shook her hand, restraining herself from the floppy shake she'd normally do. The name sounded vaguely familiar, but she still couldn't figure out why. She shook the thought.
"I wish we could have this class outside." She said more as a thought than directed to anyone specifically. Her eyes shifted briefly to the teacher than back to her partner. "Fresh air will do ya some good sometimes."
