"Rox, Rox, Roooox!" Demi said as she ran up to the older girl. She practically trembled with excitement, even if she looked cleaner and more... sleek than she had since her arrival. She still had dirt, some smudged across her face and some on her fingerless gloved hands, but most of it actually hung in a container around her waist now. No, instead she had the official security squad uniform on, complete with the insignia expressing her status as an alpha member.
"I just saw someone attempting to sneak into the edge of the cook-out," Demi insisted. "They looked suspicious and I figured that I should report before I went and kicked their ass. Also I think that there's some kids that keep trying to steal sweets. Do we beat up children? It feels like we should be beating up children. You beat me up all the time..." Demi actually seemed almost hyper now, and she sort of bounced around, turning and looking, as if half expecting to see something she had to go and fix like right now. After all, she was alpha now.

Roxana rubbed at her temples a little after having coughed a little into her arm a moment ago. She was not feeling as bad as she had a little while ago, but she was still not one hundred percent just yet. Not that she was going to allow it to get in the way of her work when she was at least well enough to move around and function without a lot of pain. She too was wearing her uniform, the one that had been made special for her and Kam since not only were they security interns, but they were also in charge of the security squad so had a certain spin on their uniform that showed that they were apart of both and in charge of one.
Her blue eyes looked to Demi as the girl came running over to her, yelling out her name the whole time. At least Demi was full of energy and actually looked pretty good in her little uniform. It even looked like the younger girl had made an effort to make herself a bit more presentable now, which just made Rox feel like the right call was made in allowing Demi to be moved up to Alpha. Rox rubbed at her eyes for a moment as Demi spoke of two situations that she felt needed to be dealt with. "Show me where so we can check it out. It's best to see what it is they are possibly doing and then act from there." Roxana pointed out.
It was not good to jump to the gun when you didn't have enough information to go off of. As for Demi's next comment, Rox shook her head no. Demi should have known better, but saying such a thing was not going to fault her on her current position on the alpha squad. "We should not beat them up unless necessary and even then we should not beat them up and merely prevent them from doing anything." Roxana responded as she was ready to move to follow Demi to the place where she had saw this suspicious person. "I don't beat you up. We spar together and I have only had to suppress you a few times in the past." Rox pointed out.

"Oh, it's over this way!" Demi said, turning and pointing at the same time. She'd already started walking, her energy carrying her forward as she went. She'd never felt quite this enthusastic and, yes, at least part of it had to do with eating a few of the sweets. Demi hadn't had all that many, since kids were stealing some and someone kept going through and eating nearly all of them, particularly the cakes, but she'd had a few. Most of her excitement came from her new position and being out in public and able to show it off for people for the first time.
"Are you sure?" Demi asked as Roxana talked about not beating up children. "Because you beat me up for breaking rules all the time. Like, I think we even met because you were going to beat me up. So I kinda thought that beating children was just a thing we did at this school. We probably should, because some of these kids so need it."
Well, it had worked for Demi, ergo it should work for at least some of them. Right?

Roxana just gave a slight nod when Demi pointed off in the direction she was talking about and was moving ahead to lead the way. Rox waited for a moment before following behind the girl, wondering if this situation was going to be serious or just simple something that Demi was taking the wrong way. Even if it was the latter, it was still good that Demi was actually doing her job and seemed even more enthusiastic about. Rox wondered it was because the younger girl was on the Alpha squad, and thus the youngest member to be on the higher tier squad.
Rox had pointed out before in her email to the other members concerned about the squad; age and gender had not weight in the decision. When it came down to it, what really mattered was what a person was capable of. Demi proved what she was capable of and did listen to rules from time to time; hopefully more now that she was in her new position. Rox had already made it clear if someone on Alpha did not show that they were in fact alpha material for long, they would be demented. Simple as that. "One hundred percent sure." Roxana responded at Demi's question.
Of course the younger girl was then pointing out how Rox used to beat her up whenever she was breaking the rules. "Again, I was not beating you up and merely preventing you from doing anything, suppressing you." Roxana pointed out. If they had to do that, then yes they would but it was not something you had to use for every situation. It just all depended on what was going on, who was involved, and how things were turning out the longer the situation went on. Demi might have viewed it as beating up, but had Rox actually beat Demi up, well the girl would either be dead, dying, or would have been seriously injured. Instead Demi ended up with maybe a bruise or two, possibly hurt pride, and a scolding. That was about it.

One hundred percent? "What if they were secret kid spies though? Or SPECTRE agents?" Demi offered, knowing that there had to be good reason. Plus, she was still pretty convinced that, despite what Roxana said. They could stand around and argue some more, or they could go check out these people who were apparently sneaking into the party. So Demi gestured again and started that way.
Sure enough, there appeared to be a few teenagers attempting to sneak in. Demi gestured emphatically in their direction before turning to Roxana. "see?" she demanded. "I told you there were people sneaking in? Can I go and beat them up now?" Because clearly that was Demi's goal for the evening. She hadn't gotten a chance to dirty the uniform yet, and the whole clean fabric was just begging for it. Plus, Demi totally wanted to trash some more teenagers. Nothing got her as happy as beating up people who didn't see it coming.

Roxana let out a few coughs, covering her mouth in the process, and still catching everything that was leaving the younger girl's mouth. She was pleased that Demi was so eager to get to work and keep showing what she was made of, but she did not need Demi running around paranoid. Now her mind was recalling the conversation she had with François Laffont. His argument would probably have worked best with Demi. No scratch that, it probably would not have considering those were Demi's people and while she probably would have been pleased that François was on her side of things, but perhaps not that he was talking about them.
Then again...Rox just simply let that topic slide away, not finding it important at the moment as she followed the younger girl to where she had said she spotted people. "We still don't just beat them up right away. We have to be certain or deal with the drama that comes with making a mistake." Roxana responded. If they were bad people, then they would treat them as such but they could not just run up and punch anyone just because they suspected them for being up to something, they had to have at least some kind of proof or at least proof they could produce and use against those they were trying to blame.
There were in fact teenagers attempting to sneak in, which just Roxana confused for a moment. Why was she here again? This event was supposed to be mandatory for the student’s right? Wait, what events was she at, again? Damn, so she was not fully over this illness just yet and it was messing her up more than she thought it was. Not that she was going to give that away and was just still going to try and do her job to the best of her ability. "No, first we approach them and ask what they are doing. If they run, you have permission to subdue them. Not beat them up. That means prevent them from running without harming them too much." Roxana pointed out as she moved to approach these teens.

Demi snorted at the whole "we can't just beat people up." "What's the point of being security then?" She mumbled, but she didn't push it any further than that. Roxana was still technically in charge of the whole squad thing, and Demi didn't want to lose her position so soon after she'd gained it. And she was pretty sure that they would end up beating up some teenagers pretty soon anyway.
See? They'd even found some attempting to sneak in. Demi was already gesturing toward them, looking over at Roxana. The blonde had paused for a moment and Demi, already impatient, gave her a "light" poke to make sure to get her attention. Unfortunately, that meant she had to listen to yet another spiel about how they needed to do talking first and not come out swinging. That just had Demi groaning in frustration, looking up.
"Fine, you do the talking, and I'll stand there and look all badass," Demi offered. She then crossed her arms over her chest and focused, getting enough of her dirt and dust out of the pouch on her side and getting it lifting up around her. They'd just come within sight of the party-crashers after all, and at least one had noticed them (or at least Rox, considering that's who she was pointing at).

Clearly Demi had not been reading the signs or listening to everything that was being said back when she was Beta and when addition were put up. The girl might have mumbled it, but Roxana’s hearing was not damaged from her recovering illness. “To maintain order, peace, enforce the rules, and protect the student body.” Roxana responded. For the security squad they did indeed do what pretty much security did but on a tamer level and not with as much power. Still a decent amount of power but still not as much as Rox and Vera had from being interns, which was still less power than those who were actual security members.
Roxana did still have a lot of power considering her standing with the school, Elsa, and even some of the board members. All the same, she was not going to demote Demi for asking question and the girl would have to actually get a strike against her before such a step was taken. They soon were upon those that Demi was talking about were trying to sneak into the event. Again, Roxana had been pretty sure that all students had to attend the event so unless they didn’t go to the school she was not actually certain of why they would be sneaking or why she should be concerned.
There was a poke and then words about Rox doing the talking and Demi looking all ‘badass’ as she put it. “Excuse me, I need to see some student IDs and need you to inform me what you lot are doing.” Roxana said, her tone the same as always as she approached them. She was ready in case they tried to do anything stupid; like run, but hopefully this would not be anything that was a big deal. Her mind was already looking over their face, quickly searching through her memory to find if she could identify a name and a power to the face. They could not even pretend they had not heard her, since one had been looking right at her and even pointed.
"Enforce the rules sounds a lot like beating people up to me," Demi replied, adding a slight shrug. People always got weird about these sort of things when it always sounded so simple to Demi. Why couldn't they just beat up those that stepped out of line? They'd pretty well done that to her. They did that back in her Clan. okay, yeah, they wanted to hear your story first. But if you were being disruptive, then you got beaten up. Okay, sometimes the beating was more... metaphorical or something instead of physical, but, well..
Okay, Roxana might have a point. Demi just wasn't going to admit it. Particularly because they'd encountered the interlopers, which just had Demi grinning almost wolfishly now. The one that had gotten caught by Roxana looked about ready to panic. one of them actually turned to run.
Demi reacted. She shot her arm forward, focusing, but didn't send a blast of dirt or anything. instead the dirt just sort of slid, and kept sliding as Demi gestured, directing the person so that she was soon facing Roxana again. And there was definitely no getting out of this. The kids all had these weird looks on their faces, however, and at least one or two was staring at Demi or the ground like they'd never seen that sort of thing before.

"Only when you need to and again its less beating them up and more along the lines of preventing them from causing any harm or destruction to themselves or others." Roxana responded. Demi should have known this and likely did know this but was just being stubborn or something along those lines. The younger girl likely just wanted to jump right into doing her job and thus could not help but to express it in terms of just beating people up. Roxana had enough faith in Demi that the other girl would not just go right ahead and do such a thing, but she kept an eye on the girl all the same.
They had to deal with these people then, those that Roxana was not really clicking onto who they were just yet. It could be because they were not even student here or that she was still not at her best since she was recovering from her sickness. One of them tried to make a run for it and thankfully Demi ended up stopping them before Roxana would have had to chance them down and shove them to the ground. "Nicely done." Roxana complimented Demi since the younger girl did a good job at keeping the person from going anywhere but did not hurt them in the process.
It just further confirmed that Demi had been ready to be a part of Alpha after all like she thought. By the way the kids were reacting, Roxana had a pretty good idea that the they were not students here. "Return back to your homes. This is a closed event." Roxana responded as she pointed in the direction that they needed to go to get off the campus. How and why they were on the campus in the first place Roxana was not sure. She could have sworn this had been a closed event since it was on the campus grounds.
It would not have bene wise to hold an open event on the school grounds with students going around when there were kids who didn't have enough skills over their powers on the school grounds. How the student had even gotten this close in the first place was the real question and Rox was going to put an few questions to those who were supposed to be monitoring those cameras that she went through a great deal of effort to set up as per request of Elsa months ago.
Demi was yet again tempted to continue arguing, pointing out what Roxana said sounded an awful lot like beating people up. Except they'd already moved on, both literally and conversationally, and there were the scrambling teenagers and stuff to deal with. Demi still couldn't help but swell, particularly when Roxana further fueled her ego by outright complimenting her on how she handed it.
The girl stayed swelled as Roxana talked, glad that Roxana was doing the talking part. Demi could so handle being intimidating, with the dirt and the muscles and just everything about her that made her more awesome. The teenagers seemed to think so, judging by how they practically trembled. They all but sprinted away as Roxana allowed them.
"Man, look at them run," Demi said, adding a snort. "And they acted like--" Demi paused for a moment, tilting her head. "wait a sec, they were acting like they'd never seen this before, and the school's..." she turned and pointed. She'd suspected that they weren't from around here but... had stupid humans actually infiltrated or something? That seemed really weird, and Demi wasn't sure why they were just letting them go.

Roxana could practically feel how pleased Demi was over the simple amount of praise, but she understood how even the little bit of recognition could make you feel. Especially when you were not used to hearing it or heard negative comments about how you need to do better or were not good enough. Demi was likely used to hearing such things so that just added more to the general good feeling she was likely to have now. The only reason Rox was thinking about it was yet again because she could not help but to feel connected to the younger girl on some levels.
Those that did not belong where quickly running away and Rox saw no point in keeping them there. Sure she could have brought them in, found someone to erase their memory, but she did not see the point when they had already seen so little and just wanted them off the campus. She was still going to have a nice chat with the person in charge of watching the cameras to ensure that normal didn’t just wonder up on campus for no reason. Had everyone suddenly forgotten their jobs and decided to slack off for this event? Whoever it was, Rox was going to strongly recommend that they would be removed from their position because now of all times was not the time for slacking off.
Rox didn’t say anything and was busy calling up the room where the cameras would have been viewed and kept track of. She hated to think that her hard work was going to waste because someone was not doing their job. “They were non-powered. Not certain how they managed to get this close to the school grounds, but I’m leaving a message about it now.” Roxana responded to the younger girl turning away for a moment to leave said message before she hung up her phone and put it away. She didn’t allow the person on the other end to talk or defend themselves; she didn’t have time for excuses.
“Come one, I want to go further out to do a sweep of the perimeter and see when they might have snuck in.” Rox said to Demi as she headed off in the direction the kids had run off to. They would have of course run the way they came and that would allow them to see how they kids might have managed to get this close. Ether someone was not doing their job, the kids broke something and someone still did not do their job, or their security was still not up to standard.
"Non...they were human?" Demi said, looking up at Roxana, unable t keep the disgust from her face. She'd gotten way too close to being impure there, and, well, she couldn't help but wonder more or less what Roxana had: how had they even gotten in here in the first place? There should've been more security and junk. Still, Demi supposed that was what Roxana was already thinking and moving to work for and all that jazz, so it definitely wasn't something that she was going to be all that concerned with.
Unlike the sweep thing: that was very much something. "Sure," Demi said, shrugging. "Like, you want me to stick with you so you don't have to get your hands dirty?" She couldn't help but grin slightly at that, not even realizing the pun until after she'd said it. Now she practically wanted to repeated it to make sure that Roxana had caught it as well. Instead she kept going: "or did you want me to go on my own?"
Demi wasn't sure which she'd rather. Because alone would mean she could handle them. And if there were more humans...
Post by Roxana Strix on Oct 10, 2015 13:02:46 GMT -6
"Yes." Roxana responded simply, understanding why Demi was upset over the matter, but Rox was displeased for a whole other reason. She had no problem with humans and dealing with them since she dealt with them a lot in her line of work, but they should not have been here. This event was not that open last time she had checked and they should not have been this close. It was a good thing that Demi had come across them because Roxana had originally planned to stay close to the main event and allow the younger members to do the rounds around the perimeter. Now she had to get involved...or did she?
Technically because of her job with the school she had to and was expected to but with the information she had gotten from her organization about how she would likely be pulled out, should she still have been involving herself with these matters? In truth she had been told to behave like everything was normal and there had been a time when she did try to say her farewells to Elsa a while ago, but she was still here. Demi's question had Roxana's thoughts breaking as she looked down towards the other girl. "I have no problem getting my hands dirty." Roxana simply stated, having killed way too many people in her life time to be effected by such a thing now.
The question still remained if Demi should remain with Roxana or handle this by themselves. Rox debated it longer then she would have normally, due to that fact about her impeding pull from this life still hanging in the back of her mind. On top of still recovering from her sickness and still not certain just how much she could trust the younger girl with her. She was never to fully trust anyone, and that fact still remained true now. "You can go ahead on your own, but keep radio contact with me and do not attack them. Just find out how and where they got in." Roxana informed Demi as she now turned to head back to where the cameras where to check that out instead.

There was something almost too casual in the way Roxana said that. So dismissive, so nonchalant, like she'd totally done something really awful to people in the past. Demi again realized how very easily Roxana handled her... well, easily compared to most people. It usually took someone with an obvious counterpower: a hydrokinetic most of the time, but the steel form thing had worked too. But Roxana had an almost complimentary power... and it had been almost like fighting Ceres.
Which was probably why Demi almost snapped to like some sort of trained animal as Roxana spoke. "Radio--?" she repeated, before patting herself down a bit. They had those? "I don't think I've got one?" Not to mention the fact that Demi didn't even know how to use one if she had it. She was pretty sure it involved pressing a button and talking or something, but it wasn't like there had been radio talking lessons. she'd just picked it up from watching a few films (stupid roommate insisted on making her watch a few... some weren't bad).
Again: didn't matter; she didn't actually have one to not use correctly regardless.
