Charlie woke up in a panic. Her body was covered in sweat and her breath was short and labored. She raked her fingers through her dark curls trying to calm herself. She couldn't believe she was having another nightmare, she couldn't believe that the subject matter was the damn cheerleading. This was her mother's influence. She was positive. The woman probably was meta too and secret about it and haunting her dreams or something. Getting back at her for dashing her own of having a prima ballerina daughter and just to spite her joining the spirit squad. She'd still yet to let her mother know about that... some things were better left unsaid.
She pulled on her sweatshirt, a borrowed one of Evan's and slipped on her flipflops. She wouldn't be able to get back to sleep, not here. That much she knew about herself.
Quietly, Charlie slipped out of her room into the dark hallway using her phone as a flashlight until she got to room 402. Sure enough, the boys weren't all that concerned with security. Thank God. She really didn't want to sneak down the dark halls again tonight.
Without a word, she slipped off the sweatshirt and crawled into Evan's bed with him like she had on so many other sleepless nights before, trying her best not to wake him.
Evan was a light sleeper. He would blame it on his abilities but there were a lot of things already that he blamed his abilities for. He couldn't risk sleeping too deeply because that meant his abilities could take over him and that didn't always have a hundred percent happy ending guarantee.
So when Charlotte came into his room, Evan had already gained consciousness. As easily as breathing, he moved so he could make space for her. An arm draped across her waist and Evan pulled her close.
"Hey," he croaked, trying to go back to sleep. "Nightmare?"

"Hey... Yeah... another one" She said as she settled into his arms, resting her head on his pillow. "Sorry." She whispered feeling bad for waking him. SHe knew she alway did and she knew he probably wasn't fully asleep anyway, but it still didn't make matters any better.
Her eyes stared at the white wall, open. She felt more at ease, but her mind was still racing with thoughts and doubts and fears.
She stared at the wall, the same wall she'd stared at so many times before. It was amazing how little boys rooms seemed to change from year to year, Evan had changed. He looked different from when she met him, but other things didn't, like they way he smelt. Light musk and sandalwood mixed with something else she was never quite able to discern.
Squeezing her a little, Evan sighed softly. "Wish I could do something about that for you." He mumbled in her hair. He did feel very bad for people who had to suffer through nightmares like Charlotte did. She'd come in here way too often because of it. Of course, he didn't mind at all but he did wish there was something that could be done.
"Wanna tell me about it?" He asked, his eyes adjusting to the darkness.

Charlie frowned hearing him come further and further out of sleep. She'd done it, he was up now and she rolled over to face him, nuzzling her face for a moment in his chest. "I don't know." She sighed looking up at him. "I can't even remember half of it now... something about cheerleaders and zombies and them trying to scalp me." She winced still feeling one of the olders girls hands on her hair.
"I couldn't get out. Glitching and all that...." She watched his face in the dark. It was weird how people completely transformed in the shadows. "I'm sorry for waking you."
When she nuzzled into his chest, Evan's lips turned downward, feeling helpless. All he could do was stroke her hair. Looking down when she looked up at him, Evan frowned before giving out a small breath of laughter. "Jesus. I knew cheerleaders were evil but that takes the cake." He tried to make light of the situation, running his fingers through her hair.
Flinching at the idea of glitching in a nightmare, Evan tried to imagine if he glitched in a nightmare. Her abilities could just mean she had to relive the same thing over and over again and that...well that was a nightmare in and of itself.
"Don't worry about it. I've been asleep for a while anyway." He shrugged with a reassuring smile. "Has it been recurring?"

She chuckled at his little quip. "Not all of us are evil." The idea of "us" including her... referring to cheerleaders felt wrong coming from her lips. She shifted her weight so she could perch herself up onto her elbows, resting her head in her hand, her brown curls tumbling down like a waterfall.
"Still doesn't make me any less of an asshole for just climbing into your bed at 3 am." She sighed shaking her head. She partially blamed this dependence on her brothers. They were who she went to when she lived at home... not that home was home anymore.
"Yeah well... Kind of... i mean. I think so? I mean. Cheerleaders. Not a new subject. These ones were a total new breed though. Like walking dead zombies mixed with vampires and the ood from doctor who.. they carried their brains and wanted me to carry mine too." She shivered at the thought "it was very graphic."
"Yes. Much like not all of us techies are complete geeks." Evan retorted with a sleepy chuckle. Her movements caused him to do so as well to make more room for her. It was a good thing his bed was against the wall; no chance of falling over.
"Nah, man." He shook his head a little in dismissal. "It's been three years, kiddo. I'm used to it." Evan tried to reassure her. "And it's not like I don't do the same thing for a lot less." He pointed out. He too had a habit of getting into her bed late at night for no good reason other than to have a warm body next to him.
The detail that went into explaining her nightmare had Evan chuckling. "Jesus. Like one isn't already bad enough." He wiped his eyes. "Oh dude, speaking of which, we need to marathon the shit out of Classic Who soon."

"Tell me about it." She laughed sleepily, the exertion causing her to nearly fall over back into the pillow that they shared. The worst part of the nightmares weren't the nightmares themselves. It was more after she woke up. "It's stupid but i'm going to be trying to figure out the meaning behind Ellen Banks having one eye and half a jaw for the next week."
Her lips stretched into a smirk when he brought up classic who. "You know I've been dying for that. You just have to say when." Charlie yawned, her body forcing her back down into his arms. She shifted about trying to get comfortable to no avail. She wondered if trying to sleep was even worth it.
Evan laughed soundlessly at her statement, clearly seeing the exhaustion in her eyes even in the dark. One hand moved to push back the lock of hair that had fallen into her face. "Maybe it's because she turns a blind eye on people and someone smacked half her jaw off because she talks too much. I don't know. I don't know Ellen Banks too well." He shook his head as his eyes drooped slightly.
"When." He teased before sliding one arm under her neck while the other squeezed between them before he slid his thumb over one brow bone, smoothing down her eyebrow. "Training's tomorrow though, right?" He asked quietly.

His response made her laugh. Though she didn't know Ellen that well she knew enough to find that pretty damn funny.
"It is." She nodded with a sigh. "Unfortunately. Maybe we can start after? Are we going to watch in order or just pick the ones we're most interested in?" She assumed in order but you never know.. plus a good amount of them were impossible to get given the time they were produced
She smiled and closed her eyes as he gently touched her face, letting out a deep yawn. "mm... that's actually helping."
He sounded a non-committal hum when she responded to his question. "In order obviously. I think there's a master post somewhere on Tumblr with all the episodes and mini episodes and spin offs and whatnot. We're totally getting into that as soon as we can." He nodded, his eyes still closed.
Again, he hummed his acknowledgement of her statement and smiled. "How many times have you gone to sleep because of this?" A rhetorical question, of course. He was also getting a lot sleepier than he had anticipated. "No more zombie tv shows for you, kiddo."

She was starting to drift as he spoke. "mmm... we should.. wear onesies or something too... and..." she yawned "Snacks." That was a given. Snacks would be had and Charlie would most likely attempt to make some recipe she saw on pinterest, fail epically, and end up ordering a pizza.
Evan earned a jab to the ribs for his question. Had she been more awake, it would have been slightly more aggressive but alas, her body was tired and the idea of moving at all, even one muscle, was entirely unappealing. The word kiddo caused one eye to open. "I'm a year younger than you, not even."
"I call Tardis Blue onesie. Think I got one lying around." He frowned as he tried to remember where he put his sleeping wear. He had indeed gone shopping with Charlotte for them. He wasn't ashamed of it. They were pretty cool.
Wincing and gasping at the sudden, though dull, pain, Evan coughed lightly. "Woman please! I'm fragile." He pointed out, rubbing his stomach mostly out of exaggeration. "You're younger than me. That's that. Now shut your face and go to sleep." He smirked, continuing to massage her brow bone.

"I have it." She reminded him not sure if he actually knew that she had it or if she'd just stolen it. She couldn't find her dalek one that she'd bought with him and the winter had been cold. "You're lucky too because it smelled like..." she yawned again "feet. I washed it." Or was planning to rather. She'd rather spin it as a favor than flat out admit she'd robbed him... again.
"Poor Evan. So frail. If the wind blows you'll just snap in half wont you?" Charlie teased closing her eyes. She could hear the birds outside starting to chirp. Doomed. If they didnt go to sleep right that moment they were doomed.
