Sure they were friends, fine. If Dev wanted her to acknowledge that then she would, anything to get her to stop pawing at Ellen’s face constantly on and on, and yes she would be more than happy to say it, but she had OTHER friends, that would be far more comfortable with the idea of giving her what she wants, because Ellen is not the affectionate type nor did she ever think she would be, maybe people thought that if they hug Ellen her heart would grow three times it’s size
……..Yeah good luck with that….
Ellen’s views were simple, what she wanted to keep to herself she would keep to herself. And no one not even Devyn would convince her otherwise. And as far as Ellen was concerned the matter was closed
Ellen merely stared at Devyn as she had grown three head, she was expecting everything BUT a proposal for marriage...at first she didn’t know how to react to this sort of thing….”Devyn….Are you sure about this? Marriage isn’t like...like jumping from a window, and fear of being left alone, is that the best reason?”

Devyn was never going to give up and Ellen in terms of getting the other girl to show that she did actually care. Actually, there was a point that Devyn would give up. There had been a few times that Dev had almost been done with being friends with Ellen, but Ellen would end up showing that side that Dev knew was there. It might have been deep down but it was there and Dev just wished Ellen would just be herself around her at this point. Hell they had enough sex in the past that Ellen should have been comfortable with her by now and understand that Dev did get her.
She was not going to fight it now, not when she was already feeling mixed about Ellen to begin with. Dev didn't want to lose a friend but she also didn't want to be used or feel like she was being replaced. That was her concern when it came to Ellen at the moment since her friend was not paying much attention to her lately. Now it seemed like Ellen cared again now that the conversation was on Dev possibly marring Vera. Which seemed to be a really odd and out there idea in Ellen's mind. Devyn could understand that. "I know..." Devyn responded as she sat up and started to play with her own hair.
It was nothing like jumping out a window, even if it was a lot safer then jumping out a window. You didn't run the risk of dying from anything or anything breaking besides possibly your heart. A broken heart would be nothing new for Dev and it was the fear of her heart being broken again that she wanted to get married. "I love her." Devyn admitted as she glanced at Ellen for a moment.
"I...it's more than the fear of being left alone that I want her to marry me. I just...I don't want to lose her. I don't want to be broken again. I know it’s selfish of me but I feel like if she marries me then she will feel like she should stay with me. Maybe my curse won’t affect her if she is mine." Dev admitted. Her green eyes starting to water a little but she was quick to rub at them.

Ellen had long since given up trying to figure out reason or whatever substituted it in the head of Devyn. So it was probably best to just attempt to roll with it and hope things will turn out simplistic…
That might have been wistful thinking on her part……. But yes, the whole marriage thing just confused her in general, especially when she has less then affectionate than anything love, so the whole concept seemed to confuse her just a little bit….
...but Ellen has seen her and Vera together…..
“Oh...Oh god” Ellen sat up rapidly “Seriously, don’t. don’t start crying…..if you’re sure, I trust you can handle it

Devyn could understand why Ellen was hesitant and likely felt about the whole idea for a lot of reasons. After all, she did know and understand Ellen better then Ellen liked to admit or believe but Dev was not going to get into that or fault Ellen for it. After all, Dev was not even sure what marriage was. Like she knew what it was and how two people could be so happy while being together. She did recall a time back when he father was alive and how her mother and he seemed so happy together. Even when he was away and would come back they were so happy together and it was just when he was away that her mother seemed to just hate everything.
No, her mother specifically hated her because she got in the way of her father's love. Dev didn't want to end up like her mother, but she also didn't want to lose Vera. She had lost so much in so little time and over time in general. She didn't want to keep losing everything she cared about over and over for the rest of her life. She was terrified if Vera would say no and if her curse screwed things up but she felt like she would hate herself more if she didn't try. "I'm not!" Devyn practically barked out and even let out a little growl at Ellen. No way was she going to cry, she had just gotten something in her eyes was all.
She did start to smile again at Ellen's next words, feeling a bit better about the idea first off and the idea of telling Ellen about it. "T-thanks...and it's good that you say that because uh...well I was wondering if you wanted to be my like...my best man?" Devyn went ahead and asked. After all, Ellen was her longest friend at this school, so it only made sense she wanted to give such a position to her.
Coming from a woman who put the boyfriend of her crush in a coma has a very screwed vision of love….She couldn’t really think of a time whenever she would ever want to be tied down herself, maybe she could blame her father for that (What was he on now? Divorce number three?) So yes, having seen so many mother in law come and go, she had a somewhat jaded opinion of marriage, people just tended to get sick of each other getting locked into a relationship like that,
But then again, what did Ellen know about the subject….
Oh god, she was getting emotional, A situation that Ellen could never possibly deal with, Should she pat her? Tell her “There there” Isn’t that what people did in these situations? So she simply sat there putting her hands up defensively not wanting to get any closer than she had to… and almost INSTANTLY her eyes widened in shock once Dev made the offer for her to….do...That! “I….I..I mean...You..Do you really want that? Are you sure?”

Devyn did know a bit of what Ellen had to deal with and had done, since while Ellen liked to think that she was good at hiding things that was not always the case. It didn’t help when you had a younger brother and a father who didn't seem to give a damn as long as it met a certain expectation he had for his family. It was not hard to know Ellen had to deal with some tough things and had done some less then kind things. She had even done hurtful things to Devyn before but Dev understood.
Not that she just allowed Ellen to keep being mean to her for the most part, but she got it was a part of Ellen's defense mechanism. Still, that didn't stop her from caring about Ellen and wanting to hear her friend’s opinion on the matter. Ellen might not agree and Dev's mind was already made up but this in a way was also for Ellen's benefit. To prove that Dev did care about her and saw her as a friend despite what Ellen might have thought. However, it did not really help or make Dev feel good that Ellen was being all defensive, even now.
It made her have the feeling of just giving up and forgetting this plan, but she already asked and wanted to see Ellen's answer at the very least. "Well... it's not like you would be doing anything. I'm kind of more so the male role in the whole wedding. So other than my like...bachelorette party and helping me get some more, best men you would not have a hard job. I just...I don't have any siblings, my dad is dead, and my mom and I are not on the best of terms." Devyn pointed out as she scratched to tug on her own hair a little.
"You have been my...friend the longest. Even if you still don’t really view me that way at times, but I understand if you don't want to. You don't have to." Devyn informed Ellen as she moved away to give Ellen the space that she clearly wanted. When would her friend just stop with the walls between them? Dev had broken them before but they always seemed to just rebuild themselves. It sucked.

Ellen simply didn’t say a word when Dev listed the reasons why Ellen was her ideal choice for her made of honor, to be honest Ellen was never really a fan of weddings as a whole, like she said the whole thing she just found it all somewhat silly to say the very least and the idea of being activity involved in such a ceremony…
….Plus when Vera found out that Ellen Banks had such a big part in her special day she was likely to hit the roof as hard as a woman could hit the roof.
But….She had a hard time saying no….Damn it Ash ruined her….
Ellen made eye contact with Dev….just in silent for a good few moments before she nodded once and just like that she sat up and made her way to her bedside cabinet to get a pen and pencil “I’m going to need a setting, a budget. A theme. And a first draft list of attendance and I’m going to need it by the end of the week” Ellen announced her tone turning into a cold clinical business like manner “If we’re going to do this we’re going to do it right”

Devyn didn’t seem to get the fact that Ellen was thinking that she was going to be the Maid of honor, when she was not. At least she was not going to have that position without Vera’s okay in the matter. Dev would be taking along the lines of the ‘male’ role, so that mean Ellen was more along the lines of a ‘Best Man’ but in this case the ‘Best Woman’ and she would be in charge of things that a Beast Man would have been in charge of. Dev soon realized that Ellen thought she was going to have a different position then what she was asking her for.
“Hehe, Ellen. You don’t need all that. Plus if you want it and to help with that you have to talk to Vera about it. I’m asking you to be my Best Woman person. So you know…help me get other people to be like the groomsmen, and a Bachelor Party…but like all female versions…or male I don’t really care.” Dev responded with a shrug. She honestly didn’t care about the whole wedding aspect like others might have and wanted to do it for the whole legal reasons alone. Having an event would be because of the whole idea that she wanted Vera to have that picture perfect wedding. Vera wanted that…right?
Dev shook her head, chuckling a little still. “I have not even asked her to marry me yet. I was just asking that when I do marry her, if you would be cool being a part of it all.” Dev tried to clarify. She still had to get the perfect ring for her bride to be and on top of that Vera would actually have to say yes. She hoped Vera would say yes, because if she didn’t then Devyn would not know what to do with herself at that point.
