Starr Bonding

"Alright, not backing out on Junay Day. I'm at the school pool but me----" Jun-Aaron had being talking to his younger and only sister Maya Starr. He had managed to get her to agree to a Junay Day, which they had not done in what felt like forever. She had been much more willing to spend a whole day with Jun when she was much younger but now as a grown woman he understood that it was not always awesome or cool to hang out with your siblings for a whole day. Especially when Maya probably had better things to do but she agreed.

He was looking forward to the Junay Day; which was their names together and also how Maya used to say his name when she was really little. So cute. Little did he know that his phone call was going to be cut off because some jerks were running and bumped into him. No running was like the first law of every swimming pool area. Jun would have made that very clear if he had not been more worried about keeping himself falling into the pool. He was not even closed to it at first but it was amazing how far one would end up when shoved.

He managed to stay on dry land, but his phone sadly did not. While he was thankful that his phone was waterproof...he had no clue how he was going to do it or if Maya would figure to just show up at the pool. "The universe clearly is trying to ruin Junay Day." Jun muttered as he worked on thinking how to get his phone out of the deep end without going into the water. He knew he should not have been even in the pool area, but it was hot outside and it felt good to be able to stick his feet into the water.

Annoyed that the phone call had been interrupted like that, she supposed she could at the very least be glad that her brother had managed to tell her where he was before rudely hanging up. Okay, she didn't honestly think he did so on purpose, but she had been snoozing off in her bed and didn't particularly enjoy being woken up. As the phone call had ended, the brunette had scrambled out of bed and put on the first items of clothing she'd seen, which happened to be a strapless, white bra, a loose-fitted singlet and a pair of tight, black shorts.

She'd braided her hair so it hang loosely over her shoulder and with that, she'd moved out of her dorm room, heading straight towards the school pool.

Opening the door, Maya peeked inside. A small smirk formed on her lips as she caught her brother trying to fish something out of the water and as silently as she possibly could, she moved towards him. She could only hope he was far too focused on his phone to even notice her coming. Though, then again, the pool wasn't exactly empty, so it wasn't like her footsteps would be out of the ordinary or anything, but hey, she'd already learned never to underestimate her brothers.

Once she reached Jun's side, she put her arms on his shoulders and yelled, "BO!"

By the times that his sister got then, Jun had already found one of those long rods you used to clean the pool with. The ones that had that bet at the end and basically was just a life-size version of the ones you had with fish tanks. He figured it would give him the reach he needed to be able to reach at his phone that was still currently at the bottom of the pool. No one around even bothered to ask him what was up or to lend a hand. They were either all wrapped up in what they were doing and didn't care; but Jun was pretty sure it was a combination of the too.

Not that it mattered to him because he was still going to have to do what he could to get his phone. It was waterproof but he doubted it could last in that much water for an extended amount of time. Thus his full attention was on trying to save they very important piece of technology and he didn't even notice his sister sneaking up on him. He wished he did, or else what happened after she yelled boo and put her arms on his shoulders would not have happened.

He had already been poorly balance and with being touched; and also scared, he was falling forward. Jun-Aaron would likely end up falling into the pull, taking his younger sister with him if she was still holding on or didn't pull them both back in time. He could not swim, at all. Even while his wings were tucked away in his back and he had skin covering them, they were still there. He would still sink like a rock in the pool.

Maya hadn't expected this outcome. She hadn't expected the cool water of the pool to come rushing down around her, swallowing them both whole. The sudden shock caused her body to freeze for a second, although it felt like forever. She kicked upwards, reaching the surface with a gasp as she felt the stinging pain of water having entered her mouth and nose. Blinking, she turned around, arms reaching for her brother to pull him towards the edge of the pool.

She already knew that he couldn't swim. No, it hadn't been the first thing that had ran through her mind, but she did reach for him, wrapping her fingers around his upper arm as she tried pulling him towards her, and towards the edge. She was glad she'd been able to react as quickly as she had, but she couldn't know that she'd be capable to pull him. If he started panicking, it would prove a lot more difficult.

But she'd still try. At least she was a decent swimmer. The pool wasn't overly deep either, but with her height, she couldn't exactly simply put her feet down and reach the bottom of it.

Jun didn't think his sister had done any of this on purpose, she knew that he could not swim and Maya generally was not evil towards her siblings. Jun on the other hand, he was a little evil to his siblings from time to time. For that reason he would have understood if Maya had done this as a form of revenge for the last time he had worked on putting her in a dress or doing her hair all fancy like. It was only fair to use someone’s weakness against them when they typically had the upper hand against you in a lot of situations. He could already feel himself starting to sink, only to feel an arm going around one of his arms.

He quickly became thankful of his sister's quick thinking and how she did in fact worry about making sure he didn't drown. It would have brought proud tears of joy to his eyes if he was not busy hacking up a lung currently as he felt his sister tug on his arm. He wanted to be of some help, to try and help get himself to the edge as well, but he literally became like a dead weight when he was in the water. His mind just sort of forgetting all things relating to be able to swim, even if many had actually tried to teach him to swim.

Maya had been one of those people who had tried back when they were younger and she wanted to play in the pool. Jun-Aaron was thankfully a bit lighter in the water as much people were and thanks to his wings being tucked away, it was pretty easy to move him. He could feel the edge of the pool and quickly moved to cling to it as if it was his life line. It pertly much was; the side of the pool, and his sister. "Needed....a dip?" Jun managed to ask after getting some coughing out of the way.

It was in moments like this that Maya became glad that bodies generally felt much lighter in water. Pulling her brother around was hard, yes, but it wasn't nearly as bad as it would have been had something like this happened on land. He was bigger than her, but she had to give a lot of thanks to her constant working out. Playing football had given her a fair amount of upper body strength too - which she was more than grateful for right about now.

Leaning her elbows over the edge, Maya rested her chin against the cool surface of the stone and closed her eyes. She could feel her heart hammer in her chest, causing it to move rapidly up and down. She didn't feel particularly tired, but she suspected there was a fair amount of adrenaline going through her body right about now.

When she heard her brother speak, she couldn't help but to let out a hoarse laugh. "Oh yeah, this was tooootally all part of my plan," she snorted. "Though, my plan was really to drown you, but then I changed my mind." She opened her eyes then and looked over at him. "You okay?"

Jun-Aaron was also very thankful for his sister’s ability and in general the interest that she had that helped with the whole not drowning thing. It would have sucked if she would not have been able to help Jun out before he ended up sinking to the bottom. Sure there were a few people around that could have helped if things got to that, but it was still something best avoided. How many people wanted to say that they almost caused their older brother to drown? Well, it would at least be an interesting story to tell. Right now all Jun was worried about was not losing his grip on the edge and also making sure that Maya was alright too.

He would have felt even worse if she had ended up getting hurt because things did not go as she probably had planned. There was a horse laugh and a confession of how this had all been part of her plan to drown him but that she changed his mind. He laughed at that, a laugh that was mixed in with some coughing but a laugh all the same. "I knew you were planning to take us out one by one to increases your inheritance." Jun teased as he worked on trying to get himself out of the water. His body still felt like a rock when he was just in water and he did not want to end up losing his grip and falling back under after his sister's hard work.

"You’re too sweet to go through with it of course; you have just the biggest soft spot for me. I knew it all along. I'm so your favorite brother." Jun added as he managed to get his torso out of the water and kind of just pulled and slid the rest of his body out of the pool. He would only lay there for a moment before moving to offer to help his sister out of the pool. "Yeah, swallowed some water that will probably mess up my diet, but I'm alive." Jun said with a chuckle. "Best start to Junay Day." Jun added with a huge grin.

"Of course I am. Duh," she said, head shaking as she rand the palm of her hand across her face. Man, chlorine really didn't do it for her. She usually loved swimming - in real water. Not pool water. Not that it mattered of course, but whatever. Turning her focus back on her brother, she offered him a light smile. She was glad things hadn't gone worse. Despite everything, and herself, she truly did care about her family.

Sticking her tongue out at him, Maya hoisted herself up and over the edge of the pool. She continued to twist her hair in an attempt to get out the water. "I'm not sure if I'd call myself sweet. Maybe something less girly," she grinned at him. "As for being my favorite brother... I won't tell you." He probably was too. At least, he was the one she hung out with the most. He was a bit weird, but she supposed one of the brothers had to make up for all the feminism she clearly lacked. Nodding at his next response, she was glad to know that he was at least okay.

"Glad to hear it, bro," she said, leaning back against the cool floor. Staring up at the ceiling, the brunette laughed again. "I know, right?"

He snapped his fingers when she confirmed that she was of course taking out her siblings in order to get a larger inheritance. He knew it all along. "I mean, I feel like you could just ask mom and dad and they would give it all to you." Jun pointed out, half teasing. Maya was their only daughter and the baby girl of the family, spoiling her would make perfect sense. Jun would have maybe liked swimming if he didn't have to worry about the whole drowning thing. It was certainly nice to be able to wet his wings and stand in the water but he just didn't risk going in anything that was past his waste.

He just didn't want to die since drowning was supposed to be up there in the list of the worst ways to die. Jun just shook his hair before running his hands through it and trying to get some of the water out of it. As a result his hair was starting to spike up since he had that kind of hair that you could literally style it any way you pleased if you just pushed it the right way and it was wet. Jun was not pleased that what he was wearing was wet, but he would survive and that was what a change of clothing was for.

"So picky. What word would you use?" Jun asked, as he chuckle a little. He did like that his sister was not the girly type, even if it meant he had no one to dress up, do the hair of, or makeup. It sucked but he was much happier that his sister was happy and accepting of who she was at the end of the day. He pouted then when she spoke of how she was not going to tell him or not if he was her favorite brother. "Well, guess that means I'm just going to have to assume that means I am and rub it in our other brother's face." Jun said with a bid, standing up to wring out his clothing a little bit.

"Indeed, but we probably should go get changed so neither of us catches a cold." Jun pointed out as he looked up at the ceiling before offering a hand out to help his sister to his feet. He felt like he would not hear the end of it if he was slightly the cause of Maya get sick and just having to tell this whole almost drowning story. It would be good to talk about at thanksgiving or the next big family meal.

"That's a great idea! I'll give it a thought," she replied with the biggest, most cocky grin she could possibly manage. She'd likely have been a lot more spoiled if she'd been slightly more lady-like, but then again, being raised with so many brothers and no sisters, it was almost a given that she'd turn out less like a lady and more like a tomboy. Oh well. Can't win 'em all, she supposed.

"I would call myself awesome," she said, nodding, as if approving with herself. Which she, of course, always did. No, Maya didn't enjoy being referred to anything that had anything to do with girly antics. She was a girl, sure, but she didn't exactly behave like one. Much to her mother's grief. "You do that," she laughed. "Make sure I can watch the fight though. I should probably bring some popcorn as well..." Hey, she didn't want to miss out on a good fight.

Nodding at her brother, Maya gestured towards the locker rooms, as she took his hand. "I'll meet ya at the other end," she said as she started brushing some of the water off before skipping towards the door marked with 'girls'. "Don't leave me hanging!" she tossed over her shoulder before opening the door and disappearing behind it.

Jun just chuckled at his sister’s response, loving that cocky little look of hers. This was the benefit of having a sibling, someone who you could tease, they would tease back, and just have that bond that was like having a best friend but closer. He was happy that her family had decided to take him in all those years ago and that he had been able to be a part of such a family. He would not trade it for anything in the world, no matter what it was. “Fine, Awesome Maya. Happy?” Jun asked when he changed what he had called her. Awesome did fit, even if it was likely building up her ego.

Not that it was a bad thing, because Jun also had a bit of an ego problem. He just tried to not allow it to get to the point in where he came off as too cocky and typically did well at that. Perhaps Maya got that side of her from him, the side of having a high view of herself. Or not, who knew. All that was important was that his sister had confidence and she did. He nodded when she basically gave him the okay, to fight but it seemed mostly for the fact that she wanted to watch it. “That is fine, but you better bet on me to win. I might not look like it but you should know I have some skills.” Jun spoke with confidence.

He might not have looked like some muscle built man, but he was toned, decently tall, knew how to at least defend himself, and not to forget the wings that he had that were also good for defense and attacking. “Alright, no getting distracted while you are in there.” Jun called out as he went off to the bathroom marked for ‘boys’ and went in to get changed as well. What would take him the longest was after drying his hair he had to put on a fresh layer of eye liner and checked to make his painted nails were still good. Then he would head out to the other side and wait or more likely; meet up with his sister.

"Very happy," she grinned. She loved getting her way. It was a pet peeve from being the youngest sibling. It had also become a habit. She supposed it came with being both the youngest and the only girl of the family. Being spoiled (and bullied) was sort of one of those things that came with the territory. Among many other things as well, of course, but she wasn't about to get into that now.

"I make no promises!" Maya threw over her shoulder before entering the locker room. She quickly headed for the bag she kept in her locker. She pulled out a clean towel and a pair of sweats and a tank top. She even found a pair of clean underwear before heading towards the shower. As much as she enjoyed the feel of the hot water, the brunette forced herself not to take too long. She had a feeling Jun wouldn't be overly thrilled if he'd have to wait for an hour for her to finish.

Once she finished though, she quickly dried off and got dressed. She pulled her damp hair into a messy bun at the top of her head and hung her wet clothes over one of the benches in the locker room. With that, Maya headed back outside to see if her brother had finished.

Of course she would be happy at the name change, and Jun was fine going along with it. He put his sister trough enough with the teasing and wanting to dress her up. Sometimes he was fine with just letting her have her way, perhaps because she really was still the baby sister and they all could not help but spoil her form time to time. At least she could never complain that she didn't get her way, because she so did. She spoke of how she was not going to make any promises which just had Jun chuckling a little as he went into the bathroom.

Either way, he did have to dry off and get changed as well. Plus there was makeup so hopefully with all of that in mind the two of them would get done around the same time or so. Once makeup was all good and he was dressed, he went outside to meet up with his sister. No surprised that she had come out just a little after he did. At least the two of them were both ready and that meant that Junay Day could keep moving on ahead. "Alright, let’s get going. I already had several things planned out for the day but figured I run them by you to see what you though and what you wanted to do first." Jun said as he moved to start walking and expected his sister to be close behind.

"I know we have to go out to eat, because food is wonderful. I did want to go to this place...I believe they call it Get Air, and you basically go around the place jumping on the trampolines that are everywhere. We could got shooting at the range, maybe some horseback riding. Oh, there was paintball that we could even end up doing." Jun said, listing off all the things. Okay, so he planned too much for one day but he had been looking forward to this day so it was not his fault he had thought up so much.
