Devyn let out a yawn as she headed to the training room to meet up with her trainer; Charity Legrange. They had their training sessions here and there but of late things had been pretty busy and the fact that Devyn had requested to be removed off the training roster because she had been planning on leaving the school. However; things had made a turnaround now she had a very important reasons to be at the school again. The one big reason was Vera Marcello, who had left a mark on Devyn's shoulder that was currently stinging.
That was what happened when Devyn put up too much of a fight over who was going to be the boss when Vera was set on being the boss. Not that she was complaining, it was sexy as hell, and she wore any mark or scare like it was a trophy. "Charity, you here?" Devyn called out as she walked into the room and tossed down her favorite backpack. Why had she brought that again? Oh right, she had a gift she wanted to give to her trainer at some point but she would save it for now.
Dev already caused the shadows in the room to twitch a little as she moved them about. She had something that she wanted to show her trainer, or more so test before she tried it on Vera or well anyone. If Charity was up for it and the possible risk that came alone with it towards her and Devyn, but it was worth a shot. Right?

Was Charity there? At least in body, definitely. The trainer had her hair twisted up into a sloppy bun while she darted around the room, gathering materials and preparing things. She'd opted for the standard trainer's uniform: sleeveless top in the gold and black of the school with the crest just above the breast, athletic pants in matching colors. Charity did a few last adjustments, wrapping wires around and making sure they were all in position. She looked around again, noticing the spotlights and their position at various angles all along the walls.
The look eventually meant that Charity ended up looking at her student. the trainer smiled and raised her hand, waving slightly. "Hey there, Devyn!" she practically chirped. "Hold on just a second,' she turned and plugged in a few more things before nodding. Charity took a few steps backward, heading toward the center of the room and looking around.
"This should be interesting, right?" She said, before looking back to Devyn. "So, how have things been for you? Have you been practicing lately? I haven't heard anything too bad, so I'm guessing there's some improvement?" Charity had heard something about how Devyn was now dating someone on the Security Squad, and there were the bits from DL, though of course Charity didn't put too much stock in that particular source.

Devyn's green eyes looked around at the set up that Charity had going on, both intrigued and also worried what she had planned. Dev did of course first check out her trainer, a little upset that she was wearing the official uniform instead of something that really showed off her figure and skin but Charity never really dressed in a scandalous manner. Well, if she did Devyn never saw it. Was it weird to think the daughter of the guy you saw as a farther figure was hot? If it was, well Devyn could not help it. Then her eyes were back on the set up and wondering what the whole spotlights were for and why all the lights in general.
Devyn was just pleased that she was already wearing her shades for whatever Charity had planned. Did charity want her to pass out from the heat? Test how long she could handle being in direct light before she got too weak to function? Or a test of how sensitive her eyes were to light that was artificial even? Devyn waited as Charity requested, her head tilting to the side a little as she was still wondering what was up. She still had a test of her own she wanted to try out with her trainer, but she could wait. "Yeah, and worrisome." Devyn said as she let out a slightly nervous chuckle before giving a small nod at Charity's next questions.
"A lot better. Got a uh...girlfriend, again but I feel like this one will turn out better. Well, I hope it does anyways." Devyn said, mumbling the last bit. She really could not handle a breakup with someone she loved again. That would just be four times too many. "Of course I'm keeping up with practice, always working on my power and general overall skills." Devyn admitted as she gave a small flex and then made the shadows in the room twitch a little. "How have you been?" Devyn asked, taking her backpack off and setting it on the floor for now and out of the way. It would suck to end up breaking the gift that she bought for her trainer.

"It totally won't be," Charity said, "or at least, it shouldn't be," She was fairly confident in this particular setup. It was essentially a matter of testing adaptability and figuring out how to react to situations and conditions and whatnot. Charity really didn't want to push her students quite too far just yet, even ones like Devyn, who she was pretty sure would benefit from some pushing.
The trainer remained silent and somewhat lost in those thoughts while Devyn explained. New girlfriend, still practicing, a slight twitch, and then the question flipped back. "Pretty good: got a summer job, and yes, teachers get those too," she finished fidgeting and walked away, "going to get an apartment and all that good stuff."
Charity nodded a few times. "Now, obviously we've got all this," she gestured around her, "but if there's something else you wanted to work on or anything you needed to let me know, knock yourself out. It's your training session and all: I'm just here to make sure you get the most out of it that you can."

"Ah, alright. I trust you." Devyn said as she rolled her shoulders after Charity spoke of how it would or at least should not be worrisome. Either way, dev would be up for trying whatever it was because she did enjoy testing her limits and pushing herself with her power. It was about the only thing that she ever had a passion or motivation for outside of exercise and flirting. Still nothing to make a career off of and certainly still not involving living for herself. Or at least, not in the way she saw it, but she would still work on it. She honestly already felt a little excited about getting to work right away.
They could finish up everything involving training, she could give Charity her gift, and maybe she could get her trainer to get a drink or ice cream with her. She smiled at hearing that Charity was doing pretty good, but was confused on why her trainer would want a summer job. Now was the time to be taking it easy while you could, but Charity's words on the matter clearly meant it was something she wanted to do. Dev also didn't get why someone would want to live off campus when everything was provided for them here for free and that meant money could go towards other things. Unless...would Charity?
"Why are you moving off campus? You have a boyfriend...or girlfriend now or something?" Devyn asked, because that seemed like the only logical reason to do such a thing. Charity gestured to the setup, what they would be working on, but there was a question. Was there anything that Dev wanted to do? "Oh, right! I wanted to try something. Basically if I can cover someone up with me when I turn into my other form. I already know I can hold things in my jaws and have 'swallowed' things that end up inside where I'm at, but I never did it with from the start or with anything living." Devyn explained. She didn't know what it would do to her mentally or physically, as well as the 'foreign body that would be inside her 'living beast shell'.

Trust her? Charity let out a little hitching breath at that. She was almost tempted to move forward and hug Devyn, but this didn't quite feel like the right time. They had a training session to get through, and that meant doing things in a professional manner. Yes, Charity could totally do the professional thing. She was already putting on her professional face and nodding along with Devyn.
Not that it lasted long, what with that comment. "Uh, no, it's more, wanting to not live in the school," Charity offered. She let out a nervous laugh. "I don't have a boyfriend yet. Which I'm totally fine with. We don't need someone, right?" More nervous laughter. Charity very nearly made a joke about how she didn't exactly have to impress her dad or anything, but she at least realized that was just awful taste right before she said it.
Thankfully Devyn distracted her again. Charity studied the young woman as she kept talking, nodding slightly at the end. "It's possible in theory," she offered, gesturing. "You might even be able to move up to outright shadow constructs given enough training..." Charity trailed off, wondering if she should be volunteering to be the one to do it with her. Ah! She knew what to do: "Did you want to try it with me or did you have someone in mind or...?" Charity gestured at Devyn. There: student responsibility. Teaching win!

Yes, Devyn trusted Charity. The other woman had never done anything to lose it and she had easily gained it in part that she was the daughter of a guy that Devyn saw almost like a farther. That was what made it a little weird for having the hots for his daughter, but she had been in awkward situations before. Dev would not have minded a hug, she actually liked them but was not always the type to reach out to get one first unless the other person looked like they really needed it. Charity rarely looked like she needed a hug with how happy and cheerful she was so Dev was not too worried.
"Why not? To both answeres. I mean why not live in a place that gives you everything allowing you to have some money on the side. As for the boyfriend, how can someone with your looks not have been taken off the market yet? Perhaps you need to try playing for both teams." Devyn said, kind of shocked on both accounts. Sure she did kind of want to move somewhere where she and Vera didn’t have to worry about going back and forth between their different rooms, especially with them not being roommates but this life was free. As for relationships, well she at least figured that Charity could at least score a fling...unless she was the type who wanted more than that.
"True, a lot of people are single and it’s not really bad." Devyn said, personally knowing what it was like to being single. She did like being in a relationship but there were certain freedoms not being in one allowed you to have. Unless you were in an open relationship, which now Devyn was never doing again after how it had gone with the last girl she loved. Charity listened to what Devyn wanted to do, saying it was possible and how Devyn could go even farther outside of what she was able to do with her power. That would be cool, but did sound like it would be something that would take years to break out of forming the shadow beast form.
"If you trust me enough to try it, I did. Not sure what it’s going to do to me or the person, but figured I won't ever know until I try." Devyn said with a small nod. She wanted to try it in well anyone; mainly her girlfriend, but trying it with anyone would confirm if she could do it or not. It was likely safer to do it with her trainer.

Why not? "Uh, it's an adult thing," Charity tried, knowing it was mostly an evasive answer. Devyn clearly didn't quite understand the desire to pull away and start making a life for your own and doing what you were supposed to be doing. Charity also definitely wasn't going to touch the whole "playing for both teams" business. "You shouldn't be flirting with a teacher," she offered, but sounded more distracted than anything.
Mostly because she was: they were about to do an experiment involving the powers of someone who was still mastering how her powers worked. True, that was the whole point of this whole thing, but it didn't make Charity any less nervous as she stepped forward. She ran her hands along the pants of her training uniform, taking a few breaths and looking over at Devyn.
"You do know how to do this, right?" she asked, raising her brows slightly. She gestured a little. "You'll need to get the shadows to contour around me as well, utilize my body as part of the whole wolf thing that you made... which should mean that we make a bigger wolf," because Charity couldn't see any other way of making it work. She studied Devyn a bit longer before moving to the lights, trying to adjust them for the maximum amount of shadow in just the right areas. Nothing said they couldn't aim for at least the perfect environment for this first time.

"Well, I am eighteen so I'm technology an adult, but I won't keep pushing it since you seem to not want to talk about it." Devyn said and with that she planned to drop the subject unless Charity changed her mind. She figured that perhaps Charity would want to talk about it with her but her trainers next words made it clear just what kind of relationship Charity felt they had. Just a student and teacher; Dev would accept that being as she didn't really have a choice in how someone viewed a relationship with her. She supposed she should have called it because if Guy knew that Devyn saw him as a farther, he probably would not have been pleased by it.
Not like she would ever know now. "I'm just playing. You are an attractive woman and I like my girls and guys older than me. Can't help it...but if it makes you uncomfortable I'll work on dialing it back." Devyn responded with a small smirk on her face that eventually faded near the end of what she was saying. She didn't want to make Charity uncomfortable to the point that the woman possibly didn't want to be around her anymore and passed her off to some other trained. So she just told herself to get serious and that should have been enough to get herself to stop flirting for now. They had something serious to try out after all and looking at Charity now made it clear that the older woman was a little nervous.
Did she know how to do this? "Umm...in theory? I never actually tried it before. I kind of don't fully think when I pull the shadows in. I just have the image in my mind of what I will become and typically control how big or small I will be based on how many shadows I pull in. My largest size should be able to fit the both of us within it, no problem. I'm just..." Devyn explained before trailing off near the end. She was just not sure what it was going to do to her because all five of her sense ended up wired through her beast form and things got painful when she felt them on her shadow form and on her actual body. So having Charity in there with her, could cause some issues, but she was not going to know until she tried it.
Perhaps she could create like a separate section for Charity to be in while in her form? This was going to be weird, for sure. "Uh...take a deep breath right before the shadows cover your face...just in case. That and I'm not trying to get a feel but I think being close will work out best." Devyn said, taking a deep breath after. She then started to pull the shadows, most of them easily pulling towards her and working their way up her form, but with some focus she was able to get them to start to crawl up Charity's form as well. For her it would feel like cold tar was trying to crawl up her.

"I don't care if you're in your twenties," Charity replied, perhaps a little more curtly than was necessary, "student teacher relations are a big no. It's kinda gross, really," she wrinkled up her nose, uncertain how else to really explain it. She was still somewhat flattered that Devyn would even call her attractive, that much was true, but at the same time, she couldn't really see the girl as being all that different from the adorable kids who used to draw her pictures and talk about how they wanted to marry her when they grew up. It was sort of weird, especially when the person was mentioning that they were eighteen and liked older women.
Charity just kept moving and directing lights, glad that she'd at least gotten this all set up properly. The right lightning would be absolutely necessary to get this whole thing right, and they were really close to it already. Devyn seemed to be thinking what Charity had; this should work in theory. Again, the theory should state that Devyn could actually do more than just form a wolf shape with her power, but Charity definitely didn't want to start pushing that. Baby steps and all that good stuff.
Right, the lights were mostly organized, which meant that Charity needed to scoot a little closer. "That makes sense, the whole, it being a little instinctive for you. You'll need to definitely focus and try to think about controlling the elements. It's about learning to control those instinctive abilities that we have. Just like any gift, really," Charity finished with a slight shrug and then held still. The shadows had started moving, crawling up her as well as Devyn. The trainer took a step closer and tried not to shiver too much at the strange, crawly feeling of cold shadows starting to wrap about her body. It really looked like something out of a horror film, and Charity had to mentally repeat that this was an experiment and that they were in a totally safe environment.
She was also fairly certain this was going to feature prominently in her nightmares in the upcoming days.

Devyn's green eyes looked down to the ground when Charity pointed out that she didn't care if Devyn was even in her twenties. There were words about how student teacher relationship was a big now and kind of gross. Devyn didn't say anything more and just felt like she got a scolding and an insult mixed in one. Her fault for even flirting in the first place when she should have guessed that Charity would have viewed the matter in such a way. Well, that meant she was going to have to work really hard at not flirting with Charity. Which honestly didn't seem like it was going to be too hard after what Charity had just said to her. Thankfully there was the whole training and the new skill Devyn wanted to give a try to focus on.
There were plenty of shadows in the room, she had it in her mind of how it could work, but she was still not sure what it was actually going to do to her due to how her power worked specifically for her. It was a mix of shadow manipulation and sort of being a shifter, so now it was like she was trying to shift two people at once while still manipulating her shadows as she had always done without any real difficultly. "Right, still worried about what it’s going to feel like for me...and you. It would suck if I don't do it right and you are not able to breath or something." Devyn responded as she took a deep breath. It was too later to back down and change her mind anyways since she was already pulling shadow sup the two of them.
She didn't say anything else, she was full focused on what she was doing and even had her eyes closed as she worked on breathing slowly to allow herself to be calm for it all. Everything was working out well and soon enough the shadows would have completely covered up both Devyn and Charity. Her beast form naturally taking its shapes, being on the bigger side, and working out well so far. However; things quickly took a wrong turn as Charity would likely end up with her head sticking out of the shadows in a place where either one of Devyn's legs or tails were supposed to be and it really messed with Devyn's ability of feeling what her shadows felt on the outside and having someone else mixed in there with her.
It caused her form to ripple a little, the texture of her fur going for its natural wolf like feeling, to sharp, then completely smooth, and then the form breaking down all together. The shadows then becoming normal shadows once more; Devyn lying flat on the ground, with Charity likely sitting on her back. Dev's nose was even already starting to bleed and a headache setting in. "Damn...ready for a second try?" Devyn asked, not wanting to just give up just yet.
Post by Charity Croft on Aug 4, 2015 20:45:48 GMT -6
"We'll manage," Charity repeated, nodding, feeling more confidence swim into her. She knew it was mostly false, just her putting up a front for Devyn. Didn't make it any less uplifting to her when she did it. She could see the shadows coming and her own power started to kick in, even as Devyn voiced more concerns. The shadows were melded thanks to her mind, kept in place and reacting to the way Devyn's body worked. Charity could practically see the connections, the hidden webs between them. The problem was that Devyn wasn't considering Charity's form or figuring a way for her to naturally meld into the creature.
So the trainer wasn't at all surprised when the shadows fell apart around them. She gave Devyn a supportive smile, even placing a hand on the girl's shoulder and giving it a light squeeze. "That was good for a start," she insisted, adding a nod. "The problem is that you're still thinking about your natural wolf shape, when it's going to be different. You need to think about where I'm going to fit in, besides, like, it being bigger," Charity paused for a moment, licking her lips. "Like, you should make a second head for me or something." Charity gestured around. "We've got enough shadows."
Charity took another breath, then reached up to make sure her hair was tied back firmly. She wished she had the time to braid it: the less exposed, the better. What she did would have to work for now. She gave Devyn another confident nod. "Whenever you're ready."
Post by Devyn Solway on Aug 5, 2015 19:39:01 GMT -6
Charity was more confident about all of this then Devyn was, but she was not going to reveal that to her trainer. If Charity felt like Devyn was not feeling the greatest about this idea she probably would not trust her or want to go through it. Devyn really wanted to give it a try, even if she was still uncertain about it all. The worst case she would deal with a lot of pain and end up in the infirmary if it was really bad. At least that was what she hoped; she didn't think something like this would be enough to cause her to end up dying or anything deadly like that for either of them. Devyn gave it her all, doing her best to try and have the shadows cover Charity as well, but it was just so easily and natural for the shadows to become one with Devyn.
They sometimes; the shadows, felt like they were alive with how they would pull to want to become one with her, but she knew that it was just that other part of her that was in control. The beast that pulled at the shadows and made it so easy for her to mentally pull them to her in order to turn into her other form. It didn't work out too well, but Charity was being supportive and not freaking out. Dev let out another sigh, wiping the blood away from her nose with the sleeve of her shirt as she got ready to try again. Her head was already hurting from having to actually think about how she wanted to move the shadows in order to cover Charity as well.
She listened as Charity pointed out that she had to think about changing her form in order to best fit Charity. She didn't think two heads would be the right way to do it, but it didn't hurt to try. She was already trying to think of her beast form, picturing it in her mind and how to change it. The body had to be bigger, longer, and that meant more legs at the very least, maybe another tail too. "Right...okay." Devyn said with a small nod. Once Charity was ready, Devyn went for attempt to, pulling shadows to the both of them again. The shadows moved a bit more quickly this time, quickly covering them both up in darkness and Devyn's beast form started to take shape again.
Larger this time, a longer body, three legs on each side; six in all, a third tail, and while she still had one head, another set of eyes appeared above the current ones. Overall the form would look likely even more menacing then before but it didn't last long before the form brought down and the two of them would be on the floor once more with the shadows turning back to normal. The problem that time was Devyn's sense. She was not able to see properly and breathing had become impossible for the both of them and she didn’t want Charity to end up passing out so she helped force the breakdown of her form faster. Now blood leaking out from her ears as well as her nose.
"Damn...you recording this? I want to see how badass I looked there...well we looked." Devyn managed to say, chuckling and trying to make light of the situation so Charity would not realize just how much pain she was currently in.

Charity was pretty sure that this was something that could totally be done. She definitely didn't want to punch any holes in Devyn's confidence. The girl definitely had her share of it, and yeah, she did look a bit worn, but that was bound to happen. Who knew when being able to do something like this could come in handy? Albeit, most of the ways Charity could think of involved combat or maybe helping injured people, but that didn't diminish the possibilities any.
The shadows had started forming, the shape melding around them. Again Charity had to control her nerves as the cold started crawling up her body, darkness covering bits and pieces of her. But her power worked at the same time, forcing her to analyze and understand everything. She got how Devyn pulled shadows to her, how she was actually bending light and embodying the shadows with substance simply by piling up molecules or something along those lines. The whole living embodiment thing was probably wholly psychological: Charity wasn't really getting much of that right now.
The trainer did let out a sharp gasp as she felt the shadows covering her mouth. Devyn might not be able to see properly, but Charity couldn't see well through the shadows at all. It just felt so strange, limbs along, shadows sliding over her mouth. For a moment there, Charity swore she had lost the ability to breathe for a bit. But she knew they should still try moving or something along those lines, just, something. She twitched, thinking of looking to Devyn.
The shape broke. Charity gasped for air, stumbling a bit. It took her a bit to manage words: "Uh, no," her voice warbled. She paused to breathe again. "how... are you doing okay?" Charity took several deep breaths, trying to calm herself.

This was hard, as hard as Devyn figure that it would be to do something that she was not used to and expect to master it the first time. Well, she didn't expect to master it the first time but she figured that it would not hurt as much as it was hurting now. For Devyn, her power did work very much like living armor in a way. It would shape around her, forming a layer of protection between her and what was on the outside. While the inside was indeed hollow, it was not completely hollow in order to keep Devyn in a certain position.
That position being a sort of fetal position with shadows sticking to her to keep her in place. The best comparison Dev could think of was like what happened to a person when they went into Titan form from that attack on titan's show. Minus her body being made out of energy and steam and instead made out of shadows. Now she wanted to go watch that show or listen to that amazing first season into, even if she was not a huge fan of anime. It was probably because her mind was wondering a bit that the form didn't last very long and she had not kept in mind to shape her form in such a way to allow Charity to breath.
That and she needed to figure out how to make sure the person inside with her would slow their heart rate, breathing, and well pretty much all their functions. How did you teach someone to just do that? The form broke down before it could even move or maintain its shape for too long. This was really messing up her senses. "Damn." Devyn muttered in response at hearing that Charity was not recording what they were doing. Perhaps she got used to Guy filming what they did or at least when she was being 'cute'. "I'm...I'll live but...really hurts. That and I'm super hungry and thirsty now." Devyn responded and it was very true.
She always got really hungry after being in her form and now she had done it twice and was trying something different. Of course she was going to feel really hungry from trying such a thing. She wanted meat, fresh, hot, and just thinking about it made her mouth start to salivate a bit more.
