As often as Elsa met with people here, she really should consider investing. However, she was fairly certain that there were already people snooping around, and she sort of enjoyed knowing that there was a local who didn't mind the college students coming in and enjoying themselves. Besides, Elsa would like to have at least one location that's something of a neutral territory. Especially if she was going to be nearly randomly contacting people.
It just made sense for her to reach out to Evelyn Conner though. Their siblings were in a serious relationship, to begin with, and for another, they seemed to have about equal social standing (which did matter, despite the commonplace assertion otherwise). There was also the fact that Elsa had heard through the grapevine that Evelyn might have slapped and/or hit Ellen Banks.
That sort behavior deserved a drink.
And now Elsa was waiting near the counter of Cool Beans, a mug of their home brewed coffee being slowly sipped in her hand. She kept her attention toward the door, fully expecting the other woman she'd invited to step through any moment now. Evelyn didn't strike Elsa as someone who would be late, though at the same time: she'd also arrive precisely when she wanted to.

What surprised Evelyn wasn't that Elsa Bellefonte had contacted her to meet up, but that it hadn't happened sooner. Of course, it was no huge secret that Evelyn had her own opinions on Elsa's sister and they were all purely personal. Of course, neither of which had stopped her from taking an overly logical position as a middle woman in the overly chaotic relationship her brother shared with the emotionally riddled older Bellefonte twin.
She wasn't entirely sure what to expect from the little meeting, but as always, Evelyn decided to look at is as a business meeting, because why else would Elsa possibly want to meet her, if not to discuss the relationship of their siblings?
Arriving punctually, Evelyn stepped into the coffee house. Her brown eyes scanned the crowd before finally resting upon the overly familiar form of Elsa Bellefonte. Of course, it wasn't like spotting her was very hard, seeing as how she looked nearly identical to her sister, whom, sadly, Evelyn was all too familiar with. The resemblance was uncanny and actually had the brunette pausing for a brief second. It was fascinating, if anything.
Stepping forward, Evelyn placed her hands on the counter. "A mocha latte," she ordered from the employee standing behind the desk. She then, finally, turned to look at the brown haired mind reader. "Elsa Bellefonte," she greeted her with her usually stoic expression. Her order was handed over shortly after and Evelyn paid for the drink. "Shall we?" she asked as she gestured towards one of the empty tables.

"It's been a while since anyone's given me that look," Elsa said, smiling slightly at the look. She let Eve hold it for a bit, wondering if she should extend her mind slightly to see what was going on there. Elsa did nod at the repetition of her name: no use hiding that, especially from someone who should recognize the face.
She turned to pay for the order, then picked up her own mug again. "We shall," she agreed, gesturing toward a table. She started walking there, figuring that they could talk and move at the same time. "I really should apologize for not arranging a meeting earlier. If nothing else, there's the fact that a family like yours moving into the area takes note. Though that's if you want to play by all the proper social rules."
Elsa pulled to a stop beside a table, gesturing toward it and looking to Evelyn. her final decision, after all.

Being subjected to her brother's power for years, although there was a huge difference in level of trust, made the level of secrecy Evelyn bothered to keep to a minimum. Even now she wouldn't have cared as much if Elsa had read her mind - or if she already did. Evelyn had already come well prepared for that to be the case. Evelyn had nothing to hide. She knew better than that. "Mmm, is that so?" Evelyn nodded courtly at that, but didn't return the small smile.
Following suit, Evelyn glanced over the small location, taking note of how many people there were and if she knew anyone. Thus far, she didn't see anyone she recognized. A pity. "Good thing I don't play by anyone's rules but my own." No, she hardly blamed the young woman for not taking any action until now. Eve hadn't either. In fact, up until now, they'd hardly had any reason to. Eve was, even though she could be if she wanted to, not nearly as social as her brother. She was more the type that worked on everything behind the scenes, and she much preferred it that way. She didn't think people were nearly ignorant enough to think that she didn't exist of course, but it gave to reason that she wouldn't be the one people approached. That usually fell onto her younger twin.
Nodding at the choice of table, Evelyn pulled out her own chair and took a seat. She placed her cup on the table and rolled her shoulders before starting on the project of removing her coat. Once she had, she hung it off of the back of the chair and finally, turned towards Elsa. "I must admit, your timing is... Peculiar."

Hmm, taciturn. That was somewhat intriguing, especially as Evelyn surely had to know that Elsa happened to be a mind reader. The less she got verbally the more she had to go mining for mentally. But Elsa did generally opt not to do that for neutral or even friendly conversations. Best to see what they could do with words first.
Such as talking about rules. That comment had Elsa smiling slightly. "I usually use whichever ones are of most benefit to me," she quasi-lied. Elsa knew the social currents well and had been swimming them for a while. She wasn't quite as behind the scenes as she'd originally intended, but she had her own way of doing things. Less against the current and more moving down alternate streams.
"Hmm?" she asked as Evelyn asked her question. Elsa took her seat, bringing her drink down onto a provided coaster. it looked like some sort of woven thing that had likely been made by the owners. "How so? Or does this have something to do with Ellen Banks hitting you?" She had to smile at that. It had been interesting to hear, after all, though Elsa still wasn't sure what she intended to do with that particular bit of information.

"I like to think that those two go hand in hand," she drawled. At the end of the day, rules were rules. That was all they really were. There was rarely a hidden meaning or reason behind them. It was nothing more than a prescribed guide for conduct or action. A guide - that in no way meant you had to follow them. Not that it mattered of course. Few people at the school seemed to follow the rules as it was - and Bellefonte was far from the strictest school there was. People was often left to their own devices.
"No," Evelyn replied without missing a beat. Evelyn wondered briefly if Elsa at all knew what had happened between her sister and Evelyn's brother, along with what had happened at the club. It was quite handy, having a power that practically gave you the means to get your hands on information - even the kind of information you didn't want. "I'm sure you'll find out in due time."
As for the part about Ellen; let bygones be bygones.
"Is that why you called me here today? To discuss Ellen Banks?" If that was the case, Evelyn had to admit she was disappointed. Then again, she'd also learned not to expect much from the Bellefonte family as a whole.

Yes, Evelyn definitely wasn't someone who wasted words when she didn't have to. Elsa certainly logged that away for later. She also seemed suitably tight-lipped about certain situations. Elsa again found herself wondering if she should start using her power and peeking around. Then again, she was "friends" with Roxana, and the SIGARD representative was notoriously tightlipped.
"Why is it that everyone I invite for coffee assumes I have one motivation?" Elsa asked, drawing back slightly. "Obviously I'm not just attempting to socialize with you, but if you're thinking that it's just because of one altercation with Ellen Banks, then you're definitely underestimating me. Which is a little disappointing, actually."
Elsa took a sip of her drink, again studying Evelyn. She set it down carefully, purposefully making sure to adjust it to rest properly, only finally looking back up at Evelyn after some time.

"Because I see no other reason as to why you would," she replied simply. They weren't friends. They didn't run around in the same circles. They didn't play any sports together, and they surely didn't have a lot of common interests. It was the only thing that really made sense. It surely didn't help that Evelyn was cynical, logical and had a black and white mindset. "Good. That's one time I'm happy to be wrong," she admitted with a court nod. At least this twin wasn't nearly as dumb witted as many of the other students running around.
This might actually turn out to be somewhat pleasant - and that was saying a lot coming from Eve.
Evelyn's gaze didn't leave the brunette in front of her. Her brow eyes studied her carefully, taking in the various expressions she made, the way her body moved and most importantly, the way her eyes dropped and lifted. "So, are we going to sit here and stare at each other, or are you going to tell me the point of me being here?" Evelyn had never - nor would she ever been the kind of person who enjoyed wasting her time.
It was a trait shared by her entire family. It was almost expected as such.

No, they weren't technically friends. But surely Evelyn had to know that the two of them had to get to know one another. Elsa looked up and studied the other girl almost willing her to figure it out. There was a moment of silence, the two looking at one another. Elsa could tell Evelyn was reading her and essentially let her pick up on the body language cues. After all, Elsa could certainly control that much, just as she could most certainly control the flow of conversation and the situation to some degree.
"It's not a waste of your time," Elsa said, less reading the thought than the words and attitude. She met Evelyn's gaze. "Our twins are currently seeing one another. That alone means that we should at least be aware of one another, even socialize with each other. I've had several conversations with my sister regarding that relationship and I'm sure you've had several with your brother. It seems as though our families are on a path toward joining with one another. Only a complete fool wouldn't want to see what they were getting into."
Elsa took another sip of her drink, purposefully letting a moment of silence creep into the conversation. "Besides," she looked up at Evelyn and smiled, "I couldn't very well read your mind over the phone, now could I?"
Post by Evelyn Conner on May 26, 2015 23:44:17 GMT -6
Nodding sagely, Evelyn's lips pursed. "That's where you're mistaken. I have little interest in your family. Your sister is dating my brother, and that's all there is to it." She settled in her seat, folding her arms over one another. "I don't see that as a reason for the two of us to converse, be friends, or even interact with one another." She lifted her hand to her face, brushing a few strands of her hair away as she looked back at the other girl. "I have no interest in discussing a relationship that at the end of the day doesn't concern either of us, aside from the simple fact that we're related to both parties."
After all, if that was the sole reason the girl had invited her, she saw little future in all of this. What, where they simply supposed to meet up and discuss their siblings? No, that was not something Evelyn was bothered to waste her time doing. "It's my brother who will be connected to your family, and not I," she pointed out.
"If you have something you're wondering about, I suggest you get to the point instead of beating around the bush." Clearly, there was something the girl wanted. Whether it was information or answers, Evelyn didn't care. She'd rather the girl be blunt about it and get to the point instead of sitting here, discussing the weather. "So, tell me, Miss. Bellefonte. What exactly is it that you want?"
Post by Elsa Bellefonte on Jun 6, 2015 15:08:48 GMT -6
Mistaken? Elsa raised a brow at that, a little surprised to hear it from Evelyn. The woman continued, insisting that their familial connections weren't enough to want to get to know someone. Elsa found her other brow going up to meet the other with each passing word. The woman just struck Elsa as relatively disconnected, and it struck her as ultimately foolish for them not to get to know one another. People were going to make the assumption, for one thing, as Elsa had mentioned in passing.
"It's my brother who will be connected to your family, and not I." Well, that was certainly one way of looking at it. Elsa kept silent though, letting Evelyn continue, letting her own thoughts progress.
"I always find it so interesting," she said, tilting her head slightly to the side, "that everyone is totally convinced that simply socializing, getting to know people, isn't enough of a reason. It's about ties and connections, Evelyn: the more you have, the stronger you are, the stronger your family becomes.
"If you honestly think that there's no advantage to our knowing one another for whatever reason, or you truly believe that for whatever reason that our families, which are being connected together at our siblings, then I suppose there's nothing for us to talk about."
Elsa took another sip of her drink. "I've no patience for fools who don't want to see the bigger picture anyway."

Evelyn remained perfectly quiet during the entirety of the brunette's speech. Her facial expression remained stoic, never wavering. She had to resist the urge to yawn, though, she managed to keep her composure, despite how little she truly cared about the words the girl uttered. Clearly, Elsa Bellefonte thought herself important enough for Evelyn to have any interest in her. Sadly, that wasn't at all the case. In fear of sounding arrogant, Evelyn - or the Conners for that matter didn't need the Bellefontes. If anything, it was the Bellefontes who needed them.
"Think of me as a fool all you want, Miss. Bellefonte," she said as she lifted her cup to her lips. "Insulting me or mine isn't going to get you anywhere, nor is it going to strike a nerve. If anything, you're simply proving just how little I really don't need you." She looked at the young girl, head tilting. "But I suppose you're right. It seems as if our options for topics to discuss are rather lacking." After all, Drew didn't seek out Elsa for a reason.
There was a bigger picture here, yes, but it had no room for Elsa Bellefonte and whatever she was trying to come across as. She might have had the right name, but everyone knew who really held the power within the family.
She placed the cup back against the table and rubbed her hands together as she offered the young woman a polite smile. "Anything else you'd like to say while you still have the chance?"
Post by Elsa Bellefonte on Jun 17, 2015 20:47:02 GMT -6
It almost felt as though Elsa were being out-bitched in some way. She could read the other girl's expression, could practically read the thoughts without actually delving into the mind that went. Evelyn had already dismissed Elsa before the meeting had even been arranged, had already determined that nothing was to be made and that there was no need to develop or maintain anything resembling a relationship there.
Again, Elsa couldn't help but be disappointed.
Though she could only smile a little amused smile as Evelyn continued, insisting that she didn't need Elsa. Quite an interesting case to make, that. Two families, both with a possibility of being wed, both powerful, both rich, and one insisted that they didn't need the other? Elsa almost asked of Evelyn was purposefully setting forth to start another feud of some kind. Just because Elsa had been beaten back in recent months, had lost some of her teeth, didn't mean she wasn't without some bite. This conversation quite nearly left Elsa wishing she'd sat down with Ellen Banks instead, a thought that no one should have.
She simply sipped her own cup. Anything else to say? Any parting shots? Any warnings? Tempting, but Elsa had said what she'd meant to say. Besides, the set of ears belonging to the person asking had been closed long before that question had hit the air.
"I hope you have a lovely day," Elsa said simply, adding a perfectly polite little smile, the sort that matched Evelyn nearly muscle for muscle.

Pushing herself up from the table, Evelyn offered the brunette a quick nod. "You too, Miss. Bellefonte." She saw no further reason to stay behind and it seemed as if the two had nothing else to discuss. Which suited Evelyn just fine.
Now, she had a busy schedule and had plenty of other things she needed to tend to, and chatting around with Elsa Bellefonte about things that didn't even matter was hardly one of them. Though, at least now she knew what to expect of the girl. She had come out of curiosity and sadly, her time had been wasted. But she supposed it was just another lesson learned and at the very least now she knew for sure:
There was absolutely nothing for her here.
Pulling at her coat, Evelyn tugged it on and started for the door.
