Damn, this was proving to be more difficult than Humphries had initially surmised. The cat hadn't had any issues sneaking into Dorm Room 501: one of the tenants had casually left the door propped open, likely seeking out some fresh air or something along those lines. So Humphries hadn't even needed to utilize his skeleton keys.
No, his difficulty was in uncovering proper evidence. He knew that Roxana Strix was a target of interest. She'd been making interesting movements and putting herself into attention for some time. While she hadn't been as directly stated as Humphries' other potential subjects, she opened up far too many possibilities. For one thing, Humphries knew that she too observed and had been accused of being a voyeur of some kind. For another, there was her position as Subject 2's "bodyguard." Not to mention how she'd managed to get a dorm room with Ellen Banks (Potential Subject 9).
So Humphries had elected for his usual tactic. He's started pawing through the room and knocking things over. It actually pleased his inner feline to do so, and he had to admit to getting wrapped up in doing so a few times. However, thus far he was finding nothing. there was an interesting sketch book, but it was interesting for other reasons.
Humphries heard the door open while he was busy batting at a drawer. He didn't even turn, merely squirmed, letting his usual device send its message:
surprising inspection of happening due to possible drug hiding.
Damn, how he wish he'd brought his new laptop with him.

Roxana had left from the Spring Break trip and headed home, well that was at least what she had been told that was going to happen. She did leave the trip early, heading off before everyone else even got back on the boat to leave Mexico. Except, she didn't go home. Instead she was sent off to take care of another matter. There was someone that had been getting a bit too close to certain things that SIGUARD didn't want them to. So they sent one that was talented in getting rid of someone, and that was Roxana.
Her specialty was actually assassination, infiltration, sabotage, and...to put it nicely; making someone talk. Her job at the school was given to her as a way for her to improve in other areas, at least that was what Rox told herself. Yet, part of her did feel like there was something more to. At any rate, she was still scheduled to go back home and she was likely going to be there for a few weeks unless it was deemed that she would not be returning back to BA. She didn't really know and it was not of her concern at the moment.
Right now, she was only back at the school to pick up something that she wanted to give to her older brother for his birthday. She felt so foolish for having forgotten the gift in the first place but now that she was in her room it was clear that something was off and she was just in the common area. Going into her room she was not even sure how the feline had gotten into her room when she had always made sure that it was locked up but she didn't worry about it right now. There was not really anything that he would find on SIGUARD in her room, not without getting the information of its hidden location from her, but there was her sketch book.
A book that had all sorts of drawing in it, including a few nudes of people that she was close to. Not that she had ever seen them naked, it was more so just for the overall structure of their body. Yet, she knew not everyone would just accept that simple answer so when she saw the book open she already had a crystal dagger in her hand, eyes locked on the cat. She didn’t look away from the feline as she reached into her pocket and glanced over the text. "Did you actually get approval for a search in my room?" Roxana asked. She doubted it, there was a hint there too, implying that whoever thought she was hiding drugs in her room or believed such a thing to allow such a search was a fool.
Ah yes, she would be interested in details like that. Roxana Strix had a good deal of training and knowledge in such things, after all. Humphries considered for a moment, his eyes still on the drawer. He then twisted, knowing what message to send: doing the surprise inspection is fine and within rights as full security staffers. only needing slight suspicioning, and received in regards to your acting strangely.
The cat then turned, looking up at the girl. He closed his eyes slowly, looking at her intently. Then he opened them just as slowly. Yes, she certainly carried herself like a professional. There was something about the way she stood and acted that gave it away. Humphries couldn't help but wonder why he hadn't given her more attention before, her record notwithstanding.
So he let out a meow and tilted his head, knowing that would be enough for the next message: search being of concern to you for reasoning? perhaps hiding something that should be looking into?

The urge to dispatch of the feline was strong, but she knew it would not be as easy to cover up the disappearance of a staff member that was a cat. That was something that you kind of took notice once you were aware that it existed. Sure she could have someone handle that end of things and make it seem like the cat had just finally gone ‘full cat’ and went off to do the verity of cat things without worrying about any human responsibilities. There was also the idea that he got hit by a car or scooped up by a large bird of prey; which Iota could easily do.
However; she didn’t actually have an ill will towards the feline, she just didn’t like the fact that it was in her room. In her room because it seemed to think that it could get by with the excuse that she was acting strangely and some nonsense about drug suspicion. “I’ll be interested in seeing the paper work behind this.” Roxana said as she crossed her arms over her chest. It was her way of showing that she was not pleased and also to get pass ‘dispose of all intruders’ within her at the moment.
Another text that had Roxana just keeping a hold of her phone while still managing to keep them crossed. She had nothing to hide from him, well nothing that was currently in her room that was currently relevant. The sketchbook that he had found was one of her personal ones so that was a bit of a problem. “I just don’t like someone in my room without my permission, even more so when they are going through my things on a weak speculation.” Roxana said as she moved over to her sketch book and went to close it.
To see the paperwork? So would Humphries. He was almost tempted to send a message as such. Already he knew that he had Roxana on edge, and not in a way that he'd particularly wanted or arranged from the start. Tipping her over might give him an advantage, but it also might unsettle her enough that he could remain in control. He highly doubted that she'd be able to actually connect with him if she were upset enough, even with her training.
Humphries watched Roxana move, then twisted again: being knowing of you for some time. figuring that a meeting would be in order. also interested in doings of yours, given circumstances.
Why yes, he was attempting to prod her a little. Just how close to that edge was she? Humphries moved back over to the drawer, as though he weren't paying attention to her. Before he could stop himself, his cat reflexes took over. Instead of examining it or handling it properly, Humphries instead rubbed his chin along it, spreading his feline scent along it. Humphries could even feel the furniture pulling at his mouth slightly, showing some of his teeth.
well, he supposed that looked nonchalant. Wasn't as if he could really do anything about it anyway...

Roxana played with the crystal in her hand, reforming it, making it into something new, breaking it down again, and then reshaping it once more. It helped her half focus on something else and as well kept her slight nerves in check. She didn't like this, not one bit. She was still a bit on edge of the job she had taken care of and having a cat going through her things was not helping her mood. Still, killing a cat did seem to be a bit extreme, even if that cat was technically a mutant and it was easy to kill a cat then it was a man. Rox had no problems killing a man, so killing at cat would be like just blinking.
The next text came in, one that didn't really help Roxana settle but at least it didn't build up the problem. "If you wanted to meet, it would have been easy to set up a meeting with both of us being aware of it in a better location and time." Roxana responded back. She was fine meeting the cat and talking but she preferred for things to be on her terms, in her control, or at least aware of them. Perhaps because she was a cat she had paid him not enough attention and that was why she did not see it possible that he would seek her out at some point and want to talk. About what? She didn't really know but she had several guesses in mind.
"What do you wish to know?" Roxana asked, not really saying it in a way like she was going to give him answer. She needed to know what he was after first before she was comfortable giving him any level of information that she was allowed to give. His actions against her dresser didn't bother her in the slightest. She was not some animal that would not like his scent on her things. She just didn't like that he was in her room without her permission, but she had done the same to other in the past.
That didn't really help at all in settling her feelings over the matter, but she was still giving the feline the benefit of the doubt and willing to hear him out. Or read his text at the very least.

Yes, Humphries probably could have set up a meeting. Seeing as Roxana was a security staff intern and he was a member of said staff, he could, in fact, have called her up at nearly any time he wanted. What she didn't realize was that he'd essentially done that now, and he tried not to show his amusement show at that.
Which wasn't that hard, as he was busy reining in his poor habits and literally pulling himself off the furniture. He licked himself, bringing his hand up over his head. most apologetic i am being was sent almost as a reflex to Roxana. he pulled himself up, then moved to her bed, taking it in one leap.
There Humphries kneaded for a moment, before turning to look at Roxana. interest of your connections with various outlets, I am having. also wondering the reasoning for your being transferred to here. Humphries knew he'd have to essentially dance around mentioning her little group, if only because his device certainly couldn't send "SIGUARD."
He made himself a little bed though, settling in quite nicely and looking smug all the while.

It would have been easy for the two of them to meet up on more of a professional ground, but this didn't feel like it. It felt like a trap, a forced meeting, and those tended to go badly for Roxana in her history. So that was even more reason as to why she was not exactly pleased with this current arrangement. That and the fact that while she had information on the feline, she didn't really know what he wanted from her. Why was he seeking her out? What did he think she could do for him?
What did he even want her to do for him that didn't involve searching him under his chin or something. Roxana was tempted to do that but she was a bit indifferent when it came to cats. If one was going to own a pet she felt that pet needed to have a purpose that could serve you. A cat tended to be up and down in terms of it was going to help its owner out or not and thus she deemed them as 'useless' but not without some worth. Her eyes stayed on him as he moved over to her bed, making himself comfortable. That bothered her slightly but not enough to do anything as she tucked away her sketch book and focused on him.
"You have to be a bit more specific on the connections. As to why I transferred here, that was months ago and really should not be anything to be concerned about." Roxana pointed out. She had been here for month, even would have competed on the side of BA, because like it or not this was her new home. She moved over closer to her bed then, taking a seat at one of the ends to at least help with settling herself a bit more. "I hope you checked to make sure I'm not allergic to cats with you rubbing against my things and now laying on my bed." Roxana said, the comment made more so to again point out that he was again in her room when he had no permission.
If Humphries knew that he bothered Roxana, he certainly didn't let it show. The feline simply curled around, continuing to enjoy himself and get things to an almost excessive amount. The girl's answers were guarded, which he had expected. Humphries couldn't tell with any real certainty whether they were guarded on purpose or if the girl had reverted to that in light of his strange arrival and questioning.
It really didn't matter in the end.
The last question had him letting out a meow, then moving to give himself a few licks. he sent just enough motion to have his collar send the message: thinking I am caring about your allergies be a mistake he said. He then pulled himself up to look at her, looking almost like he'd just had a saucer of cream after catching the canary: being of interest is your associating with Headmistresses and Banks. Also intriguing is connections to organizations of many letters.
And Humphries settled himself down, curling his paws underneath him to take a Sphinxlike pose.

The text came in, which had Roxana just not liking the situation even more. It was one thing to have to deal with a cat in your room that was a part of the staff and was in there without permission. It was another thing to deal with all of that on top of them having a personality very much like a cat. Rox wanted to bury the feline or punt it out of the window. Something to make it have a bit more respect when it was in her room and talking to her in a very unprofessional way. Having an allergy could be a very serious thing, one that could kill.
Then again if she had a cat allergy, that would have made her very weak indeed and useless to SIGUARD, and thus she didn't have one. So she supposed she was just upset with the fact that Humphries was here uninvited, in the only place she had any level of privacy in her life. The next text came in, one that had Rox letting out a sigh. She didn't want to talk about such people when she had not been corrected yet with how she viewed them. "They are both my friends, pretty much my only friends at the school." Roxana said as she avoided looking at the cat.
She as still confused what she felt about them, but when she would return back home after picking up what she was here for, she was sure she would be fine after. That was all the feline was going to be getting out of her. At least that was what she planned until his next statement, but she didn't react. She remained looking out her window before moving towards it and opening up the window; perhaps the cat would like to meet her hawk. "Do you know what love it?" Roxana asked, going for a subject change and not even talking about the organization topic.
Hmm, it almost looked as though Roxana was perturbed by Humphries' presence. That nearly had the cat purring again, though he fought it down. He didn't quite want to go that far. She was offering something of an explanation, though somehow Humphries doubted that said explanation was quiet sufficient. He was willing to let it go.
Especially as she tried, rather blatantly, to switch the subject on him. The cat's eyes widened for a moment, before he let them close, pulling himself inward to consider the matter. Did he know what love is? Humphries twisted slightly, letting the message send out yet again: knowing of concept regarding the idea of love, one is. even having experienced variations of within time of existing. curious that this should be your obvious attempting to subject the change.
Humphries flicked his tail and looked up at her, his mouth opening in something of a yawn before he shifted again: quite curious indeed.
Post by Roxana Strix on May 3, 2015 12:11:19 GMT -6
She had switched the subject on purpose of course, and there was a reason as to why she chose the topic. It would get Humphries thinking there was something more to the question; it would actually do the job of redirecting the conversation. If while it would be a temporary redirect, it would be something that would have the feline thinking about why Rox had asked the question. She normally didn't just say things without a purpose behind them, and the purpose was to just simple get Humphries thinking about something other then what he was originally here for.
If she got an answer, well then it was a bonus but she didn't really need an answer because love was irrelevant. "Oh, did you love as a man or as a feline?" Roxana asked when Humphries gave her an answer. She figured that everyone that was at least at his age had to have experienced love. While she didn't know his exact age, she was pretty sure that he was an adult and that there were records out there that she could get a hold of to get that information.
Not that it was important now; he was stuck as a cat from what she had heard so his age was irrelevant now since he would age like a cat would. Shorter lifespan then that of mankind's already short life. "You know what they say about curious and how it relates to cats." Roxana said, there was a perfect way to slip in a subtle threat, point something out, and make a joke all in one. Perfect.
Always interesting what the students came up with and asked Humphries. The whole "intelligent feline" thing sort of did offer up a good deal of questions. Though at this point, Humphries was far more feline than he was human: he'd distanced himself enough from the wretched humanity that he barely even thought as they did any more.
Still, he supposed he could answer the question: doing of the feline love for the most part. had something of a longstanding relationship with fellow shifting for some time. being of feline form does not preclude emotions. nor intelligence. Humphries nearly purred at that last bit.
It became all the more relevant as Roxana continued. Humphries looked up at her, listening as she offered up a few veiled threats. His tail flicked at that, and he seemed to smile in amusement. they also being said that cats have many lives. telling me this, ROXANA STRIX: believing are you that worth tossing aside potential for attempt upon one of my lives being worth it?

After she made sure that her sketch book and her other forms of art were safely tucked away and back in their place she stood by her window. Looking out it before she decided to go ahead and open it, peeking her head outside. It was a relatively nice day but she did have to get back on the road so she could make it to the airport on time. She did only come here to pick something up really quickly and head out. Stumbling across a cat could only afford her so much time that she could give up dealing with it before she was going to have to leave.
The plane was not going to wait for her and she did have things that she needed to take care of back home. She read the text and it was interesting to find that he was in a relationship with other cat shifters for a time period. She wondered what happened to them but kept that to herself for not and figured it would be something she could look into later. Perhaps they died or got tired of staying in their cat form all the time while Humphries loved it so things didn't work out. Or maybe she got ran over; well that was not nice of Roxana to think, but it did slip across her mind for a moment because they were cats.
"No, I do not wish to waste time killing you. I don't approve of you being in here without my permission, but I will here you out for a little while longer." Roxana said, holding off calling her hawk for the time being. "What is it that you really want? I do not have a lot of time to go around subjects forever but you should probably have gotten that I'm not going to be providing you answers to certain questions." Roxana said, being very blunt. If he needed her to say that she would not answer a question instead of changing the subject, and then she would.
Waste time killing him? It would be a good deal more of a waste than time, and Humphries was tempted to point that out. He could already feel himself puffing slightly. Though he just barely stopped himself, remembering that he did not wish to be provoked. His presence here was bad enough to warrant some reprimand, at best, and he could wiggle his way around that. Attacking from a slight provocation would simply put him in such a position where she could fight him with little repercussion of her own.
And Humphries didn't like such fights, the sort where he knew he wouldn't win.
Her blunt demand had him purring though. He twisted to send another message: what is making you think that one would betray one's motivations? Not having thinking this through have you. doing mostly research regarding DL: asking of people you may, reporting this they will. your name merely came up as one being of interesting, and therefore, well..
The feline raised a hand up and gave it a few licks before looking up at Roxana, his eyes seeming to shine with amusement.
