This was so annoying. Franck knew nothing of computers but he could tell it was a virus. Had to be. How he got it however, that was another question. First, it was a line that seemed to be sent by him every time he was on a page. It even sent automatically, telling you to go to a certain link. If he was in a chatroom, he could not even prevent it from being sent. He had to warn people not to click it and wrote everything in Word first, just to prevent that. Yes, it was a virus, and he scanned his computer with the anti-virus hoping to get rid of it. It did, Franck no longer sent those annoying links. Instead, every time he was to click on a page, a pop up appeared. Some pages even had trouble loading. No need to say it made the whole internet browsing a very long and painful experience. Franck stopped using his computer at home or only when necessary. He would have thought that virus should have been eliminated when he ran his anti-virus but apparently not. This was all very frustrating.
His father knew as little if not less about computers than Franck did. He couldn’t be of much help. Franck however knew someone who could lend a hand. A little geek who was of his friend. A problem such as a virus cannot be hard to fix for one like Evan Webb, right? Well, maybe it was, it wasn’t like Franck knew the extent of his competences. But it was worth the try.
So Franck had called his friend, asked him if he could not have a look at his computer or suggest him a better anti-virus or anything else that he could do to fix the problem. It was also a good excuse to see the guy before the end of the school. A lot of Franck’s friends were to leave at the end of the year, having graduated. He still had one more year to go. It did leave a somewhat bitter taste in the boy’s mouth. So if he could be around some of his friends before they might all just leave, he would take any opportunity to do so. Not to add that Evan would bring with him a drama-free day for Franck and the boy could seriously use something of the like right now.
