[UA] Protect

[Roxana Strix]

The three teams that were off to go save the kidnapped students had already left a little while ago, leaving Roxana and the reaming few that had signed up that did not end up on the other three teams to stay back here to look after the school. There were only four of them in all, not enough to protect the school from a full scale invasion from SPECTRE. Roxana fully understood that and knew that if they were to attack that there would be deaths. Especially since there were kids here who didn’t have powers that were really good at protecting them or for fighting. Roxana’s power allowed her to do both so she was not at all worried about the possibly of her dying. No, her only concern was the fact that if one of her targets here died or if Erika or Elsa ended up dead while out there. She knew she would not die either way, but she was not looking forward to the whole being punished for any form of failure on her part.

Roxana was left in charge of the Protect Team, a very small team with people she did not actually know on a personal basis. Yes she knew all of them by full name and what they did here at the school since they were people apart of BA so she had information on them. Yet the only she at least knew a little on talking terms was Beau, since he was a member of the Security Squad like she was. Still, none of that mattered at the moment because they needed to have the school ready in case there was a SPECTRE attack. Checking and setting up a perimeter and having people in certain positions was the first step in order to have a look out in areas in case there was movement in the direction of the school. Then next would be making sure that students were sticking to the whole lockdown rule. Taking a head count of all the students and then maybe even confining everyone indoors away from windows.

She had given everyone on the team what Elsa had shown them at the meeting in order to be able to communicate between everyone on her team quickly. They probably could get on the other channels of the other teams if they needed to, but for now communication was more important for between them. “Test. Can everyone hear me?” Roxana asked over the device as she headed to her post to start setting up a perimeter. For her that installed setting up cameras. She had already given Bea and Guylian their post as well and expected to them to get to their locations as well. She even provided them with a few cameras and motions sensors for them to set up along the way and to be on high alert just in case danger showed up before they were ready.

[Beau LaRoux]

Beau had to resist the urge to hum to himself. Instead he kept looping music in his mind, wishing that he knew more songs about war or something. He felt decidedly out of place, even here, on defense. Beau knew full well which member of the "Defense" squad was the weak link, and it wasn't the ex-cop or the girl who acted like some kinda professional. Beau couldn't even do anything unless he got close to someone else, which he'd tried to remind Roxana of before she'd done this whole perimeter thing. Beau figured that he'd just have to report it over the earbud and then run like heck toward one of the other two, probably Roxana, since Beau understood her power better.

Said earbud crackled in Beau's ear, and he nearly winced. He was used to microphones and all, since he wore them often enough, but this thing was a whole 'nother animal. The Bellefontes had definitely shelled out the big bucks, probably hiring one of the various mutants who could cobble together stuff out of nothing to produce this. it sounded as though he were standing right next to Roxana instead of some distance away.

"Hear ya loud an' clear," he said, making sure to speak clearly, "an' there ain't nobody on my end," which was probably a good thing, as Beau, again, was worried that he was just gonna end up shot. At least they'd been provided protective gear, so as long as they didn't aim for Beau's head, he was fine. So here's hoping they didn't meet snipers or anything. Yay.

[Guylian Dove]

Guylian didn't exactly feel overly confident with being placed on the protect party, and under the charge of a student no less. He was a man who'd been trained in these situations, handled a number of violent incidents... And yet here he was taking orders from a child and helping set up a basic perimeter. It felt like a poor use of his skill and training, but he was willing to do what he was instructed to do. He knew it was due to his ability being a poor manner of offense, nor defence, and it certainly would aid him little in a hectic, violent confrontation with a number of assailants. Still, he could not help but feel frustration at being left at the Academy.
He was crouched down, setting up a sensor on the stone arch that served as the entrance to the courtyard from the training grounds, his brow furrowed as he worked quickly. There was no telling when SPECTRE would make a move against the school, but the ex cop was certain it was no longer a case of if, but when. Hopefully it would not be just yet if they caught them unguarded, since the teams should be enough to keep them busy... But when the groups attempted to return, it would be clear that's when they ran the biggest risk; SPECTRE wasn't exactly going to back down to a strike at it's core. He flinched slightly as the female's voice came through the earbud piece, placing one finger on it as he spoke in reply. "I can hear you perfectly fine, Miss.Strix. I'm laying a sensor by the courtyard, should keep us notified if anyone attempts to enter from the forest from this direction."

Roxana did know that Beau needed to be around her and Guylian due to his power and she also knew that it must have been a little odd or weird for Guylian to be taking orders from her. Yes she was eighteen; even if that itself had been recent, and yes she was a student but she was more than capable of handling the job. Personally Roxana didn't really understand why Elsa would put her in charge other than the fact that Elsa actually knew that Roxana was not a normal student. Beau and Guylian did not know that, yet they still seemed up for taking her orders. Not that Roxana cared if they liked her being in charge or wanted to obey her orders or not. She was in mission mode; there were not feelings, no care. Only logic and the objective at hand which was first to secure the perimeter of the school with motion detectors and cameras; something that the school should have had in place, but everything they were using now was the latest and greatest pieces of technology and if SPECTRE never attacked they still could keep everything up and have use for them.

Beau's words reported back in. Everything was clear on his end. Good. Even if any of them got hit before they were done setting everything up, it did not matter. One of them going down would be enough to obvious alert the rest of them that there was trouble. Unless of course all three of them were hit, but they were all spread out and while it would have been strategic in some ways to attack from all sides, the location of the school did not really allow that. Plus it would be stretching out however many men they had, which in the end Roxana was fine with because it would be to their benefit. "Good to hear LaRoux. When you are done with your side of the perimeter come to me. The same applies if you notice or get into any trouble." Roxana said, voice to the point and that was all she was giving Beau. Even if Guylian had been closer to Beau in the case of something happening it would be smarter for Beau to go to Roxana. Her ability would offer him a defense and an offence. Guylian's power was well in all, but better one-on-on then with say a group and she did not want someone going weak on her after dealing with just one possible group.

Plus Guylian had a greater purpose due to his power and his position as a teacher at the school. The adult male’s voice came in over the device, letting her know where he was putting a sensor down at. She honestly preferred if he didn't give say he put one down there over the chat so directly, but it was not like he gave the coordinates and she was only a little on edge just in the case that SPECTRE somehow got ahold of the channel they were using. "Good to know. When you get done in your section I would like you to stay relatively close to the academy and out of the woods." Roxana said again to the point and that was all. She needed him to be close for if there was an attack. Their job was to protect the students. The sooner they knew someone was coming, the sooner she could give the order to Guylian to start getting all students and staff inside. Sure they were on lockdown, but students were still going about their normal activities that were on campus.

Guylian was perfect for giving out the order to get people inside and even if there was doubt, confusion, or fear, his power would be useful. Yes she had thought it all out, along with other scenarios. "Keep me updated." Roxana informed both of them as she hid another sensor in the trees, still having just a few more to go.

[Beau LaRoux]

Beau nodded as Roxana spoke to him, even though he realized even as he did it that she wasn't exactly going to be seeing the motion. He had to fight the urge to let out a nervous laugh, instead rubbing his hands along his jeans. He kept moving along his perimeter, doing what needed doing, but it just felt... weird. Nobody else was around, nobody looking or hanging around or doing much of anything. The school wasn't exactly bristling with people, but on a nice day like this, well, there should be somebody around. Beau definitely didn't like all this quiet.

without thinking about it, he started to hum under his breath. He kept putting one foot in front of the other, sure he could wrap up his part of the perimeter sweep fairly quickly. He almost wanted to rush it, get back to Roxana. He'd had at least some practice with her ability before, and it was in line with something he was used to doing. That made his mind drift over to Liz, the reason he was out here doing this nonsense in the first place. Somehow, Beau couldn't shake this feeling that he was gonna end up getting shot and missing prom.

Still clear, Beau almost wanted to say it over the system, but didn't figure that he really needed to clog it with that.  he just kept humming along, turning to hurry back to Roxana. He felt something prickling at the back of his neck, and he just couldn't quite shake the feeling that something bad was about to break. it was kinda like being outside while a storm was brewing. Your hairs stood on end and you just knew that some bad juju was about to go down...

Roxana was pretty much done with her side of the perimeter and getting everything set up since she worked quickly from experience. She may have been only eighteen but she was born for this, she was raised for this sort of them. Granted she mostly handle things alone and not so often in a team because a team led to there being a weak link and a weak link was bad when you could not have a mission fail. Plus having a team meant having to put your trust in people and a team was better to build based off of already having trust with people. Roxana didn't trust Beau or Guylian; well she trusted Beau a little more because she had worked with him before, but even that trust was limited. Neither of them where her targets so she currently didn't feel the need to protect or even look out for the two of them. No she would not outright let them just get shot or something unless it came down to a choice, so for now there was nothing to worry about.

"I'm all done Beau so I'll be heading in your direction now." Roxana said after putting a finger to the device and speaking to it. She was all done and figures that she might as well head over closer to Beau, maybe give him another opportunity to practice with using her power. She however was going to conserve it as much as she could since once her hair was no longer white, she pretty much was done with using her power for a full twenty four hours. She also had that meeting to deal with that she already knew she was not going to like. A few people that also worked for the same organization that she currently was employed by where going to meet her. Just my luck I won’t be able to use my power when they show up. Roxana thought to herself, also considering if they were going to meet her on a full moon when they knew her powers would be gone and also if SPECTRE did attack, would they meet her soon after that. It was all...not really all that exciting to look forward to, but she had no choice. She accept whatever would come and deal with it.

Roxana didn't really know what Guylian was up to, but so long as he stayed near the school she was find. He was good for crowd control should the need for it arises and that’s what she wanted him for. He was a teacher, he had his power, and Roxana was confident enough that he should be able to handle such a task. This meant that she was probably going to have to lug Beau everywhere around with her so she and him were going to be 'best buddies' during this time. Not that she was bothered by this because she knew and enjoyed Beau's music when she heard it. She played music and did art herself after all, but mostly done alone somewhere.

Beau heard Roxana through his humming, her voice crackling in his ear. He nodded, trying to alter his path so he'd meet up with her. He didn't know what else to do at this point, even slid his hands into his pockets, which felt extremely odd to him. But he didn't exactly have anything better to do. So far everything had been quiet, thankfully, and it didn't even look like there was ever going to be movement on their side of things.

In fact, if that's how things turned out, then Beau would be completely fine.

"Still not seein' nothin'," replied Beau, looking around, nodding. "Lotta nothin'," he hummed again, almost feeling guilty about the massive amounts of nothing that he was encountering.

"There's the signal."  The driver of the black, six wheeled armored personnel carrier's voice said through the radio.  "Let's roll."  The majority of the SPECTRE agents were unaware of the true nature of Bellefonte Academy.  They were led to believe the campus was only presented as a school and, in actuality, was a training ground for the terrorist mutants who'd executed the organized strikes across the world.  Neither Ridgeway or his superiors believed such a preposterous story, but that didn't stop the indoctrination of the SPECTRE agents under the Director's command.  

The attack on SPECTRE HQ left the Academy vulnerable.  A large strike team had been waiting on standby once surveillance caught wind of the rescue mission.  It was foolish for them to think anything could happen in the area without SPECTRE knowing.  Three wide-bodied, tactical personnel carriers, four  armored trucks, and a massive, eight-wheeled fighting vehicle all roared to life.  One by one the vehicles rolled out onto the street.  The Stryker led the way.  It would be the tip of the spear, the hammer to punch through the gate and allow the personnel drops to come in and unload the highly trained, well-armed operators loose on the campus.  The convoy rumbled through the town of Kalispell before turning to head up the hill toward the campus.

Everything was going according to plan.  The Deputy Director of SPECTRE knew the administration at Bellefonte Academy wouldn't stand for the abduction of their students.  Through not so subtle manipulation of local law enforcement and conveniently limiting the amount of intel his higher ups were getting Ridgeway placed the genetic freaks in a situation where they had to act of their own volition.  If they had taken any longer the young... things he had ordered collected would've been systematically executed and a new batch would soon be in custody.  This cycle was to be repeated until the administrators at the Academy had no choice but to launch an attack.  The entire operation had been a means to an end.  As he sat in the back of the armored sedan that trailed along behind the convoy Ridgeway couldn't help but smirk to himself.  Now the real operation could begin.  He would ensure the entire campus was razed to the ground and every genetically enhanced freak was gunned down like the dogs they where.

Beau's words about not seeing anything. That was a good thing, he realized that surly. Roxana would have preferred if there was not even the chance of SPECTRE attacking, but she was not dumb. From what she did know about the group, it was more than likely that they would attack. She didn't know when and how much force they would come with but she knew they would attack. She just hoped that their having everything set up would be enough to at least save the majority of lives at the school. There would be casualties. This group was willing to kidnap students; teenagers, and harm them. So attacking the school outright would not have been that farfetched in the realm of possibilities for this group. "Nothing is a good thing. I'll catch up with you soon." Roxana replied back, checking her phone as it gave a little buzz in her pocket.

The gear they were wearing made it a little bit complicated to get to, but she was no fool and would not take the gear off. She could shield herself with her ability, but she would have to deal with getting cut after, so if she had layers on to cover instead, the damage to her skin would be lessened; ideally. The little alert on her phone made her quickly stash it away and break out into a run to get towards Beau. She of course had her own little small set up of detectors in the town and having going a very large reading on her phone alert. No it did not tell her what it was, just that it was something large and heavy based upon its sized. It could have been a buss, but at this hour Roxana did not think it was likely. "Beau I need to take cover and still head in my direction. Can you do that?" Roxana asked as the other motion detectors went off, making her phone buzz. She knew it was a good idea to link her phone to them.

She was already starting to be a little more careful as she made her way towards Beau. The motion detectors alerted to her that people were approaching the campus; no they were on the campus now. Damn. Roxana thought, really not wanting things to have come to this, but again expected it. Her mind worked to remember what frequencies Elsa's ear piece was so she could change her. The distance was pretty great and there was statics but she figured it did not hurt to try. "Elsa. The school has been infiltrated. It’s safe to assume that SPECTRE is attacking the school." Roxana said and then quickly switched back to the other channel so she could hear whatever it was Beau or possibly Guylian were trying to let her know.

Once the sensor was placed the teacher stood up, admiring his work for a fleeting moment before taking a quick survay of the area;
Everything seemed in a bizarre aura of tense calm, as though everything was awaiting the chaos that was about to break all round them... The calm before the storm. It certainly felt as though there was some level of electricity in the air, an undeniable tension. Although the ex cop wasn't completely trusting of either one of the students on his team, they seemed to share a common goal and that was enough; He knew protecting the Academy and the students within it were notions carried passionately by each of them,
as although he trusted them little beyond that due to the lack of knowing too little about them, he trusted in their dedication to the Academy. Elsa had also vouched for them, and the ex cop trusted her opinion.

As Roxana gave the order for him to walk a perimeter, the teacher began, walking slowly from the gateway, walking the edge of the forest. Everything seemed so horribly quiet... Especially given the panic and chaos the other teams must surely be causing. He paused, furrowing his brow as he reached a pint where the forest separated slightly, giving a small glance towards Kalispell. He could make out a few of the buildings in the distance, and- He froze, his eyes widening slightly before the frown returned, immediately putting two fingers to his ear piece as he spoke into it. As much as a faint panic was building within him, he kept calm, maintaining his professional composure.
"Miss.Strix, they're bringing us a convoy!" He spoke hurriedly. "We're talking... Eight, maybe nine transport vehicles, all no doubt filled with agents... We need to get EVERYONE inside NOW. They'll be upon us in minutes."

Yeah, nothing was great. Shame that they couldn't keep the nothing going for just a little while later. Beau was lucky enough to not be in the direct area when the agents started rolling in, apparently en masse. He could heard the crackling in his ear though, Roxana insisting that she get to him, Guylian stating that they needed to get the students inside now. Beau was suddenly reminded of what he'd told Liz, getting people to safety.

Beau ran then, hurrying to get within range of Roxana. A few others had risen as well, various security staff that had been left behind to do their job. They were outnumbered, and Beau was pretty sure that his training didn't amount to much in the face of what stared them down now. He just had to hope that the abilities would give them something of a surprise.

He felt something sliding over him as he finally drew within range of Roxana. Beau wracked his brain, trying to recall precisely what she had and how it worked. Crystals, forming crystals, Beau jerked his arms up, remembering it, and was surprised to recall a practice session. it had been about manipulating metal, but a lot of the principals were the same. Beau felt the crystals forming on his hands, forming something between gauntlets and a shield, readying him for what was happening.

"We need to hold 'em off till everyone can get inside!" he called, looking over to Roxana, realizing that she probably already knew that. She also probably figured that Mr. Dove would be better at it then Beau, but the Southerner waited for orders nonetheless. If Roxana wanted him to do it, he would, though he was clearly prepping himself to make his stand there.

Roxana had been able to switch back over to the right channel in time to catch what Guylian was informing her. She respected that his voice remained level and clear even with what was going on. There was no point in panicking because then you would not speak clear enough for information to be communicated properly and then especially if you were an authority figure seen panicking it would spread to the student. If there was thing worse then stupid panicked people, it was when those stupid panicked people were authority figured. She understood that everyone had their weakness but in time of crisis it was up to the 'leaders' to show what should be done and be more concerned about others them themselves. Guylian was doing just that and Roxana felt her respect grow for the man. "Understood. I need you to start spreading the word to get everyone inside. Lock up the doors and stay away from the windows. Keep me updated." Roxana gave the order for what she wanted Guylian to do, the enemy was moving in fast so they didn't have much time.

Yet Roxana refused to let too many be gunned down, losing a few would still suck but students were still wondering all over campus, getting word out for them to get inside and take shelter would be difficult and they only had Guylian to do that for the moment. She would leave it up to Guylian to figure out the fastest way to communicate getting everyone to safety in his way. She trusted he would be able to figure it out but made sure to keep an ear out in case he needed any more orders and as well updates. Beau was soon close enough to her and she could already see him using her power. He went with the route of covering his hands, which would be bad if he had her side effect of how when she covered her body with her crystals how it would shatter on her when its time limit was up. Yet she didn't fully understand all of Beau power so she was not worried. Plus she was sure he had gloves on so even if his power mirrored her, he would be fine. She heard Beau's words and was already thinking the same thing, but knew already that they would only be able to hold them off for so long.

He remind worked quickly to figure out the best tactic, but there was just too many and the fact that they were not driving in simple cares. This greatly complicated things, making Roxana bite her lip until it started to bleed as she picked up a broken branch and started to coat it in sharp crystal, then holding it with one hand formed crystal daggers in her other hand. "Aim to either kill or make sure that they won’t be able to get back up or even fire a gun." Roxana gave the order, going into stern and cold mode, not even sure if Beau could even kill a person based upon his personality but she gave the order either way. If he could not kill then he had just better be sure that he did enough damage that whoever he was facing would not get up for a little while. "Attack and take cover. Do that and you might just make it out alive." Roxana said simple, not yet caring if Beau did die or not, yet she was under her orders, so there was that which made her note that she would probably end up making sure that he would end up alive after all of this.

The heavy, eight wheeled vehicle that led the convoy made short work of the Academy's main gate. The massive diesel engine powering the monstrosity roared as it scaled the hill heading toward the campus proper. The trucks carrying the SPECTRE strikes teams fanned out, one by one until a line of the large vehicles were advancing. Tires dug up deep rivets in the meticulously manicured grass surrounding the campus.

Many of the SPECTRE agents waiting to deploy exchanged worried glances. Even though the intel all pointed to the campus being used to train dangerous, mutant terrorists, there was no way of escaping the large population of kids that roamed the installation. Terrorists or not, the thought of killing a child wasn't among the agreed upon tasks many of the agents had signed up for. The gunner manning the large weapon mounted atop the eight-wheeled fighting vehicle was not among those who questioned their orders.

With a deep, steady thumping the high-caliber gun punctuated SPECTRE's arrival. Large rounds tore through whatever happened to be in their way. Brick, dirt, flesh. Apprehensive or not, the sounds of war steeled the agents as the backs of the personnel carries opened, spilling their human cargo into the courtyard. Bursts of gunfire ripped through the air as the strike team advanced.

Ridgeway ordered the driver of the armored sedan to stop just inside the gate. There was no reason for him to get too close to the action. He trusted the false intelligence he fed his men as well as his superiors in Washington would serve to justify the carnage he'd ordered. As the sounds of combat drifted his way he gave a predatory grin. It had begun. With their strongest students and staff off infiltrating the headquarters, the Academy was left weak and ripe for the taking. He was so close to realizing his dream of wiping the entire campus off the map he could taste it. Nothing could stop him now. Nothing.

[Guylian Dove]

Guylian stood a moment, unmoving, listening to the orders given from his headpiece, his eyeline following the convoy as it made it's way steadily towards the gates. It was a terrifying sight even for the seasoned ex cop; Judging by the sheer planning, weaponry
and amount of men grafted to this onslaught, it had been complied far, far in advance of their direct attack on SPECTRE. They'd PLANNED this... Lure out the majority of offensively powered teachers and students, then take the Academy by force with clearly unbiased violence. The cruel, screeching sound of twisted metal signified the gate buckling under the force of the first metal hulk, and at once it broke the teacher's momentary frozen state and he broke into a run towards the school.
He knew exactly what he had to do... A number of students were milling the Academy, wandering around the school with little knowledge of the approaching chaos. He needed to address them all at once, push them inwards to the centre of the Academy's building where they could better defend themselves.

He burst through one entrence, continuing his focused route towards the radio station's office. It was run by students, and although Guylian typically took little heed to it he knew it featured the Academy's main tanoy system... The perfect method in which to address the entre school without, hopefully, causing his ability's effects to kick in. The manmade enhancement of the speakers would hopefully prevent any potential ill effects.
Breaking into the radio's office he was met with a vacant room, franticly making his way to the main booth, the microphone seemingly plugged in and ready to go. The monitor was turned on, the music program showcasing the fact the radio's stream was in full flow but the teacher ignored it, instead quickly locating the switches to activate the tanoy, making sure to select what he assumed to be the internal option, so no announcement would pass through the outside speakers, a loud screech from a speaker indicating that it had become active.

Taking a deep, calming breath,Guylian flicked the microphone's switch and bent down close, silently praying that his theory of the speakers enhancing his ability was accurate. "This is an emergency announcement," He began, his voice soft, velveteen and comforting, slipping from his lips and echoing through the Academy's entire speaker system. "ALL students and faculty, drop what you're doing and MOVE TO THE AUDITORIUM."
The auditorium was a closed space with next to no windows, and situated in a central part of the Academy, a far easier place to defend overall.
"You will all make your way there NOW. Move quickly, calmly, with-" He stopped, snapping his gaze towards the office's entrance as the sound of distent gunfire hailed down. "EVERYONE. TO THE AUDITORIUM. NOW." He then moved his finger off the microphone's button and made to run from the room, cursing himself as he stumbled, clutching his head a moment as a rush of dizziness sweeped him, slamming into the wall to prevent his legs from buckling; Granted it was a lot less then he had expected, and as of yet no nosebleeds, so it seemed his theory of the speakers working in his favour was accurate. Speaking with such direct orders too normally hit him hard, but thankfully he seemed to be just able to keep his composure.
"... Miss.Strix," He spoke, putting two fingers to the headpiece as he fought for the dizzy haze to clear. "I've... I've gotten everyone to move to the Academy's strongest internal point... I'll put it into lockdown."

Protection, that's all they were here for, really. Beau reminded himself of that, shifting as he looked down the incoming vehicles. Roxana stated her orders simply: attack and then take cover, might make it out alive. Yeah, being alive sounded good to Beau. Killing folks though... "Weren't we supposed to try an' jus' hold 'em off?" he asked, looking over at them. There were a lot. The various security staff were moving into position though, several with various kinetic abilities setting up barriers, trying to form a choke point. Yes, they were mostly just "extras" as it were, and wouldn't amount to much unless Roxana and the rest could use them, but they were there and ready to fight off the various agents that would come through, and they would at least give the protection squad terrain advantage.

"Hope you make it out alive, Roxana," said Beau, before readying himself as best he could. He could make a projectile with this power, right? Something to throw? He thought of a big, solid crystal ball, and tried to form it on the end of his crystal gloves.

As Beau started, he heard Guylian's voice sliding through the speakers. He must've used the school's radio; that made sense. However, as soon as Beau heard the command, he felt himself heading backward. His body reacted before his mind could catch up, drawing him toward the auditorium. He forced himself to stop, gritting his teeth, clenching fists till he thought the crystals would make him bleed. Beau took several deep breaths and then turned, fighting Guylian's power as he worked his way back to the choke point.
