POWER: 

Adoptive Muscle Memory, the ability to perfectly replicate movement after observation. Raphael can copy any movement or action after seeing it performed, be it on TV, the movies or actually having it occur before him. These can include various skills including acrobatics, martial arts, hand to hand combat or various other stunts performed with the physical body. With one observation, Raphael can become an expert.



Raphael cannot mimic superpowers, and is limited to what the body can naturally achieve, and can’t use any skills he hasn’t witnessed; For example, he can witness an expert marksman using a handgun and become a expert in the same weapon, but this does not mean the skills transfer over to similar weapons. He cannot therefore be an expert at using a shotgun for example; He would have to witness a shotgun specifically, despite being an expert at using a handgun.



Raphael cannot take in more then one movement or skill set at any one time; For example, he cannot take on a group of assailants with different fighting abilities and attempt to mirror each of their fighting skills. The overflow of signals to his muscles would cause his body to cease up and collapse. He suffers from occasional muscle spasms, which increase at night to the point of almost being unable to sleep if he’s recently learned a new physical skillset. Once his body settles he’s fine, but he does worry that these after effects mean he’ll suffer with further problems in his muscles as he grows older. If he also uses a number of skillsets in one sitting, for example using various learned fighting techniques in one fight, once the adrenaline has stopped pumping his muscles may give way, causing him to collapse and making him physically weakened for a few hours afterwards.



Only three skill sets can be remembered through his ability at any one time, as another is learned on top of that the one furthest back in his memory is forgotten. He discovered this when he attempted to perform a stunt bike move after already learning three previous skills, which ended in him cutting his leg up pretty badly, the scar of which runs over his right calf.



APPEARANCE SECTION:

 Raphael is a few inches shorter then his brother, coming in at about 5”8. His frame is skinny, and due to his love of extreme sports and being outside, he rarely gains weight, although strangely despite his ability and hobbies doesn’t seem to gain too much extra muscle mass. His hair is wild, dark and mass of brown waves and curls, often looking as though he’s been dragged through a hedge backwards how matter how he tries to style it. He however likes it long, and thinks he looks quite ridiculous with it short.His face is less rounded then his brother’s, almost heart shaped, although he still retains a slight chubbiness to his cheeks, similar to his sibling. He’s quite hairy, has hair across his chest and stubble adorns his chin and jawline. His eyes are a deep, amber brown, almost autumnal in colour.

MUST HAVE APPAREL: 

Raphael doesn’t care too much about what he wears, but he does make choices that he feels flatters his appearance. Casual shirts and jeans teamed with a dark jacket or long leather jacket make up most of his daily outfits. He did wear his long leather jacket more often, but since his brother returned to Kalispell donning a leather jacket he’s been less likely to wear it unless he knows he won’t be in his company. (He doesn’t want to be seen as though he’s pathetically trying to “copy” his older brother.) He doesn’t care too much if his clothes get wreaked or ripped, often continuing to wear them if there’s still some wear in them.

PERSONALITY SECTION: 

Reckless, sarcastic and a bit of a wild child, Raphael is a bit of a contrast from his quiet and calm older brother. Years of casual rejection from his Father resulted in Raphael developing a reckless almost attention seeking attitude, and although he’s significantly calmer then he used to be he still retains his lack of sense of self preservation. His ability to mimic any physical skill achieved with the body has given him an almost reckless confidence, often using his power in order to win bets in bars. He’s fairly social, often enjoying the nightlife of Kalispell until the early hours. He has a habit of burning the candle at both ends, often choosing to sleep at odd times of the day after a few nights out.His over confidence occasionally gets him into aggressive situations, and he takes delight in using these kinds of incidents to show off his ability, although he doesn’t purposefully go looking for fights.Although he adores socialising, being left to play my himself for long periods of time throughout his childhood has given Raphael a strong sense of independence. He’ll happily spend hours by himself exploring the local area, especially when he needs to relax. He takes a great deal of comfort from the great outdoors, and most of his hobbies reflect this. (Mountain biking, hiking, e.t.c.) and as grown to be quite an adrenaline junkie.

Defiant, Raphael doesn’t take too well to being told what to do, and isn’t easily led. He’s a natural leader and will attempt to manipulate others if he feels it’s in his or their best interest. He doesn’t take too kindly to SPECTRE or any non mutant views, leading him not to place much trust in the government or government financed establishments. Although he doesn’t purposefully go out to break the law, if he dubbed it as necessary he wouldn’t hesitate to do so. He’s a bit of a flirt, and although he doesn’t directly not believe in finding love, he feels it’s likely unobtainable and therefore there’s nothing wrong with playing the field. He enjoys people who can match up to him, either in intelligence or physical abilities, taking great delight in the “game” of dating rather then finding romance.

Underneath his over confidence and arrogant attitude, Raphael has a good heart. He’s passionate about his work, taking a great deal of care and consideration when it comes to his patients; It pains him if he cannot provide any aid, and is willing to do all he can in order to help an animal in his care. He would face a dangerous situation without hesitation if the cause was just, regardless of his own safety.Despite all of his inhabitations towards his brother, Raphael cares for him deeply and would put himself before him if it came down to it… He’s the only family he has left.

CHILDHOOD: 

Raphael came into the Campbell family as a happy accident, his parents not as pleased to have another baby but trying their best not to ever present that notion to the child. Raphael grew up in a fairly loving environment, not really noticing his parents preference towards his brother until further along the line; It wasn’t a case of obvious favouritism, but later on when Jason’s ability manifested it became increasingly obvious where his Father’s preferences lay. The young Raphael looked up to his older brother in a massive way, despite often being pushed aside due to the difference in years between them meaning Jason had long since passed by the childish games Raphael wanted to play. This left the boy feeling slightly rejected, but none the less he adored his brother and wanted to grow up to be, as most younger brothers do, exactly like his sibling. Times took a turn for the worse when their mother grew sick, the young Raphael not fully grasping the severe nature of the situation at first; This was however a time when hew grew really close to his Mother, often reading his books to her as she lay in bed

ADOLESCENCE: 

When Jason’s ability was revealed as being that of their Father’s, Raphael’s initial awe was quickly replaced with a gradual bitterness towards him as their Father began to focus solely on Jason and developing his ability. He attempted to join in with their sessions by choosing to read children’s medical books, often trying to interrupt with a comment on something he’d read, only to be sent out of the room for being a distraction. Raphael began to send more and more time with their Mother, who was gradually finding it more and more difficult to get up and out of bed. He read to her and would talk to her for hours on end. He noticed her beginning to grow steadily worse, but choose to try and ignore it; He truly believed in his naivety that his Father and his older brother would make her better, and that perhaps when his own healing power manifested (He was certain he’d be exactly like his Father and Jason), everything really would be alright.

Things steadily got worse, with Raphael no longer allowed in to see his Mother as her condition worsened. He noticed his Father’s efforts to try and save her, the physical weakness he began to show after each session scaring the boy, his worry only made worse by the arguments between his Father and brother.His Mother died soon after Raphael turned 11, which was a terrible blow to the boy. He’d grown close to his Mother in her final years, as his Father had focused so much time and effort on Jason, and loosing her hurt him far more he could express.What made it worse was his older brother, the man he’d looked up to so much growing up, had selected to just up and leave. He left Kalispell, leaving the young boy alone with their depressed Father.

The next few years were hard on Raphael, as he admitted to take care of his Father who still seemed so focused on getting Jason to return. Often feeling rejected and unappreciated, Raphael often acted out to get attention, staying out late and letting his grades slip to the point where it seemed he wasn’t even going to be able to get through school. Growing depressed himself that he seemed to have skipped the mutant gene, he became a bit of a wild child, and this is where he developed his reckless attitude. At 15 his power manifested, but it wasn’t the healing ability he’d anticipated as a child.After Raphael’s group of friends began to get rowdy in a bar after they were denied being served, security was set upon them. Moments before Raphael had been paying attention to the bar’s TV, which had been tuned to some action movie, the particular scenes being that of a fight. As the security began to get rough at handling the boys, Raphael chose to fight back, effortlessly breaking into professional level hand to hand combat, taking out security which resulted in the police being called, the boy being taken home in disgrace. The resulting visit from a Bellefonte recruiter however was a much needed boost to Raphael, the confirmation of his ability giving him hope that his Father would now hold him in as much high esteem as he did Jason.

After he entered Bellefonte, Raphael thought that this was his chance to prove to his Father that he was just as beneficial to the world as his brother, that he was destined for an even better career in the medical field. He threw himself into his studies, franticly trying to push towards getting a place on a medical course. Despite all of his efforts, His Father still seemed to always compare him to Jason, Often casually commenting on how his brother had bested him in the same exam previously. This combined with his Father’s depression and gradual decrease in health pushed Raphael to spend most of his time at the Academy, often spending hours helping take care of the horses at the stables or going out around Kalispell.

ADULTHOOD: 

After desperately trying to impress his Father for years, Raphael finally gave in and instead selected to apply for another course, one in veterinary studies. His Father didn’t seem to think too highly of his career choice, but by this point Raphael was past the point of caring.He excelled in the subject, going on to graduate as a qualified veterinary surgeon and set up a small clinic in Kalispell.It was about a year later that his Father’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse, and fearing he’d lose his Father Raphael made a desperate plea for his brother to return.

While he was inwardly thankful that Jason did return, he couldn’t hide his anger and disappointment when the now almost stranger he called his brother again chose not to save their parent.Raphael’s relationship with Jason is still very much on edge, with the vet blaming him for the death of their Father, and holding still onto the bitterness and jealousy he’d grown for his “golden boy” brother.Despite his passion for his work, Raphael is still very much a wild child, reckless with far less of a sense of self preservation then his brother. Recently Raphael, who’s training as a vet has given him some knowledge of treating humans, has taken to secretly aiding injured mutants who have gotten into fights with SPECTRE, gaining a growing desire to form some sort of pro mutant group in order to defy the oppression of the government created organisation.
