Jason nodded as Matthew gave him an estimation of how thick a glove has to be for him not to drain the person’s energy. He didn’t test so maybe something not as thick would work also. It would be quite hard for Jason to stitch the boy with rubber gloves. He’ll have to touch him as little and as shortly as possible. Anyway, he already assumed Matthew would’ve to be his nurse here and help him out, he will simply do a little more. “Let’s hope we can manage,” he thought out loud. He didn’t like that Matthew was so silent and often turned his head to look at him, make sure he was still pressing his wound and breathing, most importantly, still breathing. Therefore hearing him talk, even if it was of little help, reassured the doctor. He had to be quick. This felt like the longest ride ever and Jason did wonder if he’d make it at last. But he knew he had to be careful before being fast. He wasn’t in any state to do speeding. And he didn’t want to aggravate Matt’s state.
He still made a mental note of who he could call should this prove too difficult. JJ had energy for two or three people, he could call him. God knows all the healing he gave him deserved something like this in return. Plus he was a cop, in case Matt wished to tell what happened. But Jason would rather try first than call him now. JJ’s personality was enough for the doctor not to want to see him unless forced to.
He arrived home at last. Turning off the engine, he quickly, or as quickly as he could in his state, moved to Matt’s side and helped him out of the car. He said his leather jacket should be thick enough for him not to drain Jason’s energy and he decided to believe him. “Just hold on. And keep the pressure on, we’re almost there,” he repeated as he brought him inside. He let him sit down as he rushed outside to get his bag again. He closed behind him as he went back inside and moved to Matthew. “Now, I’m gonna need your help while I stitch your wounds so try and stay awake. Can you do that for me?” he asked him. He was mostly talking to Matthew to force his brain to process his words and not simply give up and faint. But he also needed Matt to work with him on this one, since touching him would prove potentially dangerous, even with medical gloves on.
