Natalie Taylor Laurent
25//Female//Pansexual//Visual Telepathy & Mind Walking//Bellefonte Guidance Counselor//Lea Michele
POWER INFO:
Visual Telepathy & Mind Walking
Natalie has the power to see instead of reading the thoughts of other people. This allows her to not only receive but also see the thoughts and memories like a movie passing before her eyes. The ability to mind walk allows her to actually enter the mind of others, where she is able to see and hear everything in the particular memory/thought or subconscious event she has entered. The other person(s) will not be able to see her as the memories is past, and not future. As long as it has already happened, she will only be a third person, viewing from 'outside the window'. Natalie can use this ability to learn someone's history, discover lost memories and help someone remember something they might have forgotten.
Limitations:
* Natalie cannot use her power against someone with mental shields, or someone who's ability allow them to block out certain or all mental abilities/attacks.
* She needs to physically touch someone for either of her abilities to have any effect, and therefore cannot read/see/enter someone's mind whenever she wants.
* Cannot control what she sees or what memory she enters. Alas, she cannot search through someone's head and specifically pick a memory or thought of her own choice. It has to be something the person she uses her ability is thinking about currently, or something within the debts of their subconsciousness.
* The memories/thoughts she enters will feel real, as if she is actually in the situation herself, which can be confusing and often lead to loss of rational thought/logic
Side-Effects:
* Headaches and migraines, this is pretty self explanatory, but Natalie more or less walks around with a constant headache which often grows into a migraine
* Nosebleeds, extensive usage of her power often leads her to having nosebleeds
* Exhaustion, she needs to sleep a lot and frequent usage of her ability makes her tired and exhausted, sometimes to the point of passing out or being temporarily paralyzed
* Trouble sleeping, usage of her ability leaves her restless or shaken to the point of being unable to sleep, which in turn makes her ability weaker because for her to use her ability, she needs to be well rested. She also suffers from nightmares, all depending on what memory or thought she enters or sees
GENERAL APPEARANCE:
Natalie's brown hair falls to the middle of her neck and naturally curls at the ends. She usually keeps her hair hanging loose, but has occasionally been seen with it up in different forms of hairstyles. She rarely straightens out the few curls she has, and she has never dyed her hair. Her hair also matches the pair of chocolate colored eyes, and her olive tanned skin.
Natalie isn't 'skinny' or 'scrawny', but she is by no means chubby. She has a fit, athletic build from all her years of dancing. Though, this is not something she enjoys showing off with tight fit clothes. She prefers comfortable clothes she feels she can breathe in over the more revealing types. And she also prefers natural colors, especially lighter shades. Though, she tends to stray over to colors such as red and yellow, all depending on her mood.
When it comes to Natalie's facial features, she has always had an issue with her nose. She feels as if it is too large for the rest of her features, especially if seen from the side, but she has never thought about plastic surgery. She also has a radiant smile, full lips and long, slender legs she adores showing off. Especially when wearing heels. Heels makes everything better. Natalie is rather short as she only stands 5'2ft over the ground and weighs around 106 pounds (Hence her love for heels).
Natalie gives off a very optimistic and energetic vibe, as she's naturally a very happy and bubbly person, which shows on her entire being. She walks with confidence and keeps her head held high. She's rarely seen sulking, glaring or pouting and more often than not smiles.
MUST HAVE APPAREL:
A silver necklace with a rose hanging from it; She got it from her grandmother and rarely ever takes it off.
PERSONALITY:
Generally bubbly, Natalie is a incredibly positive and energetic person. She tries her best to find the positive traits in each and every situation. She has a soft spot for the less unfortunate and feels inclined to help them out. Fiercely loyal, Natalie will stop at nothing to help the people she cares about, even if it means she has to sacrifice parts of herself.
Incredibly naive, Natalie believes everyone can be saved - not matter how damaged or broken someone is. She believes that even the most evil villain has a weak spot and some part of their being that makes them good and human. She believes this so strongly she might overdo herself in trying to save someone, even if they don't want to be saved. This is a trait most people tend to find incredibly annoying and exhausting.
Natalie is hard to anger. She has learned tricks to push her negative feelings aside and stay strictly professional, though this isn't exceptionally healthy as she herself has ended up with a lot of repressed feelings. Which in turn can end up with her appearing snappy, but in most cases she tries very hard to contain it.
Generally cheery, outgoing and odd, Natalie doesn't care how people view her. She isn't afraid of being herself and doesn't care much for those who don't like her. It won't change her view on anything, and as she is indeed incredibly naive to the point where she would pick up random hitchhikers without even for a second doubting their intentions. She doesn't mind people disliking her and would rather be one hundred percent her real self over some dolled up fake version.
She takes everything that happens to her with a smile (Or at least tries to) and always searches for new and better ways to do something. Natalie is stubborn, and rarely takes a no for an answer. Tell her she can't do something or that someone can't be fixed, she'll work her butt off to prove you wrong.
EXTRA QUIRK:
Natalie has your typical go-getter personality. Throw whatever you want her way, no matter how much bullshit, and you can be fairly certain she'll take it with a smile.

CHILDHOOD:
Natalie's childhood was fairly normal. She grew up in the suburban parts of Florida to Jeanette and Henrik Laurent. She was the first born out of three children, and she quickly learned the responsibilities that followed when she turned four and her sister, Melanie was born. Two years later, Isaac came along and the once small family had grown even larger.
The family itself could be viewed as the 'perfect' family as all members worked well together to make ends meet. Jeanette and Henrik might have given the children a lot of responsibility, but there was no doubt that they trusted their three kids to make their own choices and mistakes in life. They wanted to be the kind of parents who rather instead of being overprotective, they supported their children's choices. It gave the three kids a lot of free room and space to try out new things and shape their own personalities.
Even from an early age, Natalie knew she wanted to spend her life helping others. She spent many a days running around the neighborhood offering the neighbors help, even if it only meant getting a cat down from a tree or raking someone's yard. Natalie lived to please others, which her parents saw as a good trait and supported her every step of the way.
Natalie also grew fond of singing and dancing, which was something she spent a lot of her free time doing. She loved showing off her talents, and could usually be seen dancing around the neighborhood, singing her cheery little heart out.
ADOLESCENCE:
Though the childhood years were happy, things seemed to change drastically as Natalie entered high school. Her free-spirited personality caused her to appear as an oddball and most people ignored or avoided her. She didn't mind as much, though. She was the kind of person who preferred people liking her for her real self, rather than a made up image of someone else.
The high school years came and went, and as much as she'd like to look back and tell you anything out of the ordinary happened, she can't. At least not until she turned fourteen and her powers manifested. Luckily for Natalie, her powers manifested during the weekend and when she was at home - to avoid people viewing her as more of a freak than what they did already. Natalie quickly told her parents about her new discovery, and that's when her father told her about her grandmother, Lucille and her own powers.
After a long talk with her grandmother, Lucille informed her granddaughter about the Bellefonte Academy, and they both agreed it would be better for Natalie to attend to the school, so she could have the proper training for her ability. However, Lucille didn't mention the fact that Natalie didn't really have a choice in the matter, but was pleased to see her granddaughter didn't have many objections.
After arriving at the Bellefonte Academy, Natalie finally started feeling as if she belonged. She was now with her own kind in a school filled with oddballs, and she continued to grow into a person who enjoyed helping others, even if not all of them seemed to want the help.
The academy grew to become a second home to her - a second family. Years passed and the idea of getting a job there after graduation became less of a dream and more a goal. So after finally graduating, Natalie went straight to college to start on her journey of becoming a guidance counselor.
ADULTHOOD:
Natalie spent her first four years of college studying psychology. She found this extremely interesting and worked hard to get the best of grades. This certain study had her so focused, she had little time for people, romances and partying. She was dead set on her goal and never let anything interfere or make her lose her tracks. So, after four years Natalie had her psychology degree and a teaching endorsement, and could finally continue to getting her teaching position and a degree in guidance counseling.
Six years later, Natalie returned to the academy with her new degree, ready to start her new life as the school's guidance counselor. At first, she found it to be a little overwhelming, especially with the flow of damaged kids the school had. She tried her best though and no matter how hard it was, she decided that she would never, not once give up on child or teenager.
Now, a year later she has gotten a lot better at dealing with the many issues of the children and teens, but still strives to become better at her job.
