Fiery beating heart
Metal is cold. But Charlie isn’t. She’s like fire burning bright. Like the heat coming from a forge. She is determined and she is strong. Anything that gets in her way will melt before her. Turning her away from reaching her goals is nearly impossible. If you block her path, prepare to get burned.
Hidden behind a curtain
Charlie has a fiery soul, but she isn’t one to flaunt it. Despite it’s brightness she keeps it hidden. Keeps it to herself. Few can truly get through all the walls she puts up unless she lowers them herself. All they can glimpse is the light from underneath the curtain. Or what Charlie shows them.
Fighting for the truth
True honesty is rare. Her father told her as much. It had been ingrained into Charlie’s system. The truth always got out, so why hide it? Lies were only good for so long. Charlie is blunt. She seeks the truth and detests the lies. Even if they’re easier to swallow.
As the end is certain
The future is not always clear. There are an infinite amount of paths. But Charlie is a planner. When she makes goals, she plans to reach them. The road there does not matter. There can be twists and turns. Hills and valleys. Charlie doesn’t care what it looks like so long as she gets there.
SECRET(S): None.♦ THE HISTORY ♦FATHER: Rhett Jarrett
MOTHER: Magnolia Jarrett
SIBLINGS: None
WORTHY MENTIONS: None.CHILDHOOD:
Not every life starts out ideal. Charlie’s didn’t. Her mother was a Magnolia. A Magnolia she never met. A Magnolia she never planned on meeting. She was left with her father. A man Charlie called Rhett. It was said with affection. With love. The absence of the other was mainly forgotten. A curiosity that lasted only a fleeting few moments. She was told the truth. Straight and clear. Magnolia would never return. Charlie didn’t want her to.
Instead she had her father. A mechanic. He was simple. Kind. Smart. Forgiving. Accepting. Inspirational. He had his flaws. No one was perfect. Not Rhett nor Charlie. But to her he was perfectly imperfect. The right balance she needed. Together they made a life. Took what they had and ran with it. It wasn’t easy. Charlie did not live in luxury. But she learned to make it. Accepted the truth and let it make her stronger. She learned how to adapt and how to appreciate. She got an education and pursued what she wanted with all her heart. Rhett encouraged her, but let Charlie carve her own way.ADOLESCENCE:
Stumble changed into stride. Charlie grew more independent, but didn’t push her father away. Rhett was wise, and Charlie had much to learn. They were similar in practically all else if not in body. They shared the same passion for machinery. The same level of drive. The same skill working with their hands. Charlie was undisputedly her daddy’s daughter. She didn’t mind that one bit. She was proud of their connection. Their level of communication and understanding. It came in handy when realization struck her. When she no longer sought chiseled chests but swinging hips. For the first time she was nervous. But it had been in vain. He’d know from the beginning, and didn’t care. It only served to connect them further.
Then fate dealt its hand. At the age of 15, the metal around Charlie seemed to melt. Both of them were clueless. It’s the only time Charlie remembers being afraid. For a time nothing else seemed to happen. Though startled, they went about life. Then a week later men appeared. Gave an answer to the lingering question. Charlie was a mutant. According to them, she was going to have to leave. The reaction was immediate. They both protested. Held their ground against the strangers. The conversation went on for hours. Eventually a compromise was found.
They lingered for a week packing. Rhett got a job in Kalispell beforehand. Once that was established, they moved. Once again Charlie found herself nervous. It was the second time she ever recalled feeling that way. But with her dad by her side, she wasn’t as scared as she could have been.ADULTHOOD:
Days wore on and years flew by. Charlie experienced Bellefonte for all it was worth. The first few years Charlie stayed by Rhett’s side. She learned her ways around the rest of high school while also learning her way around the garage. Everything was so new. It took Charlie some time to get back to her feet. Once she was there, she took off. She wasn’t the most popular. She didn’t strive to be. She made a few fast friends and was content. She didn’t need a million.
For the most part she focused on surviving and having fun. She wasn’t about to do something she disliked unless absolutely necessary. There were only a few classes like that. Charlie managed to get through them with grit teeth and determination. Everything else she enjoyed. In her later years, her dad gave her more freedom. Charlie eventually decided to give the dorms a try once she reached college. Rhett encouraged her to have fun. Live the experience. So she tried.♦ THE PLAYER ♦
