"Hey, bartender! Could I get a drink please?" One of the first things Rebekka had learned when going to the bars was this: always treat the one serving the drinks nicely. Jerks tended to be ignored. Which meant slower service. Which meant less drinks. Hence the reason bartenders were one of the few people to receive Rebekka's "nice" side. Everyone else she didn't get a damn for. They got her usual side. The "bad bitchy" side.
She went up to the counter and took a seat. "Whiskey please." She specified. Not exactly original. But Rebekka didn't care. She got a few drinks. Rum and coke her favorite thus far. But right then she wanted whiskey. She looked around. The bar seemed dead. More dead than usually. There were barely any other customers around. Rebekka was shocked. Yet happy since the service should be faster.

Evan Smoak had clocked into work that evening a little late. Sure, the woman with the previous shift was angry. She had places to be, Evan got that. He was no asshole. It was just that his evening nap had accidentally ran a little late.
He had left his apartment in a rush and headed over in his usual all black attire. Evan arrived and clocked in - at his leisure of course - before apologizing to his coworker for his punctuality. She gave him an exasperated sigh and mumbled something about how he should respect other peoples time. She left the bar though the little swinging door and headed out the front door. "Single moms am I right?" He said jokingly to the woman who had just requested a drink. "Sure thing." He said with his back turned to shelf of alcohol and selected the most popular - all most emptied.
He spun a class in-between his too finger and placed in down in front of her before pouring the brown liquid. Before she could grab it, Evan swiped it out from her grasp and chugged down the remains of the glass. He shook his head and gave a little shiver as the to liquid burned own his throat. He her face amusing.
"That should get me started for the night." He teased while pouring her her own. "The after-work rush will be coming in hot."

There were two. From the looks of one, she was not happy. Rebekka smirked, amused. The other woman left in a huff. The man made a joke. One Rebekka laughed to. If a little harshly from her history. "Right you are." She replied. It wasn't like he knew her past. No one really knew her well here. She preferred to keep it that way.
He got her the drink. Made a show of it. Her smirk grew wider. She was about to swipe the drink away, but he took it. Rebekka arched a brow. Yet snickered. She wasn't upset. The action was something she would do. So she smiled instead. Went along with his tease. "From some of the messes I've seen in these bars, I don't blame you. You bartender have got to have plenty of patience to deal with this bunch."

Good. She was amused. Evan was always skeptical about joking around an being loose with costumers. It wasn't that he was afraid of their reaction and whatever curses or demands to speak to the manager they would throw at him. It was just the annoyance of it all, really. Evan had been through years of harsh bootcamps and orders. He could take a good drill in the ear. Luckily the girl was cool. Evan pushed the drink he had pulled towards when he almost forgot the small napkin he was order to place under it. "Here... - sorry - There we go -" Evan grunted, leaning over the bar, as he picked the drink up and then set it back down. "Don't want any rings on the old maple wood here." Evan said sarcastically as he knocked on the wooden bar. The both looked down the empty row to see lots of ringed stains and whatnot. "Boss's order." He said with a shrug.
When she mentioned his tolerance for drunken folk Evan gave an exasperated look but then, after a moment of thinking it over, he shrugged. "I mean, sure it can get a little rowdy and uh - cutting people off isn't the easiest of tasks. Reasoning with drunks. But uh -" Evan paused and smirked thinking back. "It can be entertaining most of the time... I try not to look at it like a hassle but more of an amusement thing." Evan shook his head with a huff. "Even when I want to beat the shit out of these assholes but uh - " He paused not wanting to mention his power. Some people freaked out. " - I can handle 'em."

He pushed the drink towards her. Rebekka reached out again, but once more he stopped her. Was he really pulling the same trick twice in a row? But no, he was just getting her a napkin to put underneath. Rebekka eyed him skeptically. She replied with sarcasm. it was the boss's orders. She looked down the counter. Saw the other stains. She laughed and took her drink with a wink. "Can't ruin it's pristine condition, right?"
She took a drink. It burned on the way down and Rebekka shivered. Then she grinned. She could feel the slow warmth already. he started responding, so she glanced up. he looked exasperated, then pensive. Reasoning with drunks could be difficult, but fun. Rebekka knew that much from her own experiences. He tried to look at it as entertaining. Even when he wanted to beat up some of them. Rebekka laughed again and shook her head. "Hey, some of these idiots deserve a good smack in the head." She commented, taking another drink. "Maybe by some off chance a miracle will happen and they get some manners."

Evan shook his head with a smile and ran his fingers against the wood. Suddenly a thought popped in. "Oh and uh - Do me and favor and don't mentioned the drink to the boss or anything. I'm supposed to be the sober one." He told her half-serious.
He scoffed. "I think we all could use a good smack in the head sometimes." Evan shrugged and went back to sort some different bottles that the woman before him had disorganized. "HA, that'll be that day." Evan shook his head. "The amount of times I hear - 'Get me a fuckin scotch would ya kid?' - is ridiculous." Evan turned and leaned adjacent the bar looking at her. "Sometimes there so wasted I just slip in some of these." He reached under the counter and pulled out a bottle of bowel cleansers and shoot it for her to see. "This'll have 'em shitting their pants for days."
"Don't worry. This is only for the real asshole." He paused. "Ya know, the ones I can't put my hands on." He stopped himself though. "Yet again, I'm not really one for pointless violence so - those do just the trick."
Of course Evan wasn't a condoner of pointless violence. It had been drilled in him since day one to be.

"Don't worry your head off." She waved her hand dismissively and took another swig. "I'd do the same, so I very well can't scold you for something I'd do." She'd take two, even. Wasn't like she cared too much. he talked on. Everyone needed a smack now and then. Rebekka couldn't agree more. Considering that was usually her job back at the Academy. Smacking sense into the kids. And making sure they were safe of course.
She snickered again. He probably had a few stories up his sleeves. Like the one he told now. He showed her the cleaner. Even sprayed it a little. Rebekka threw back her head and laughed. "If you aren't the male version of me at this point, I don't know who is." All of these things were likely to be something Rebekka herself would do. Whether for a laugh or revenge, she couldn't say. Or really care. Her humor wasn't known for being lighthearted. She was rough. Harsh. She liked to think she wasn't outright cruel. Most of the time at least. "Yeah, just for the real assholes." She agreed. "Although I won't mind giving some of the lesser ones a knuckle sandwich now and then."
When she related herself to him he shrugged. "I guess that's fair." He told her. "I just have to check ya know? Some people get a real kick out of getting people in trouble in their workplace." He shook his head. "I have no idea what it is but..." Evan trailed off but just ended it with yet another shrug. "Ha, I doubt we are anything alike."
Evan didn't mean it in a bad way. I mean, of course, he didn't even know this woman. He didn't know any of the customers, really. I mean some of the regulars had maybe shard some of their deepest darkest secrets on a drunken tangent but Evan either forgot or didn't much attention to them. They came too often to matter.
He laughed at her comment and then dismissed it to ask: "So what brings you hear? After work drink?" That was pretty common.

He shrugged. Really, Rebekka had no desire to mess with his job. Sure she could get kicks out of teasing the guy. Maybe even hanging on the idea of using this against him. But he was the bartender. Doing something like that was sure to bite Rebekka in the ass. She liked the Hole in the Wall. It was nice. Small. Not nearly as loud and swarming with teenagers like the other bars and night clubs. Rebekka already got enough of that in her job.
He doubted they were anything alike. Rebekka snickered and took a drink. She wasn't offended. "You're probably right." She admitted, shrugging. "I hardly know you, or you me." it was the truth. Rebekka preferred to keep it that way. She hardly let anyone in on her personal life. She wasn't about to start. So she took another drink while he asked a question. Why was she there? Rebekka grinned and licked her lips free.
"We've got a winner." She responded. "Yeah. What better way to get rid of most of the day huh?"
