Now quite a fair amount of people think strength is all you need to fight. That the ability to hurl a 40kg ball around is all you need to win a fight. So strong is this belief that a fair amount of people forget about speed. Oh sure they might think of a combo of punches to be enough to classed as speed but they forget the quick steps, ducks and dives. They forget that someone weak can beat someone strong if they go fast enough. If they systematically shift from side to side, dancing away from punches.
In this case they are right to forget.
LDR hadn't originally thought joining the boxing club would be a good idea, but the looming threat of his brother ever coming back turned his hand. Also he needed to be able to protect himself in a fight, didn't he?
So there he was stepping from side to side, pain rushing through his body, gloves raised to protect his face. His opponent was a hulking mass of a guy, who God had thought funny to grant super-strength able to pull trains. LDR was too fast for this guy but that didn't mean he didn't get hit, after all the guy got lucky. So when LDR was hit full-force with a punch to the body it was no wonder he went down to the mat. The instructor counted him out.
Then he wobbled off towards the locker rooms, a feeling of nausea swelling up in him. Then he was somewhat bent over a toilet vomiting.
Cash Hunter ran his fingers through his sweaty and wet hair. He had just gotten back from his usual morning run. It had been good -- as far as runs always did. Some thought he had it easy because of his super speed. Some thought his power was the only reason why he ran. Of course they were wrong. With or without the enhanced speed, Cash had a passion for the sport.
After the run, he headed for the locker rooms to collect some of his things. But not long later, a boy came in from behind. "Oh hey-" it was nothing unusual except for the fact that the boy looked like shit. "Yikes. You don't look well," he commented as he came closer.
Then without waiting for permission, Cash helped the other boy and brought him towards the shower and got hik to bent over the toilet. Cash grimaced as he heard the boy puke. "Man, does the other guy look any worse?"
