Alexander Francis Griffin
FACE CLAIM: Ed Skrein
---------------------------------
AGE: 28
GENDER: Male
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual
POSITION: Head of Security at Bellefonte Academy
POWER: Force Field Creation
Alexander has the ability to create mobile spherical force field shields, ones that refract light away from its contents, using his physical and mental energy. The result is a force field that effectively makes anyone or anything inside of it disappear from immediate view. This cannot be manipulated or turned off by him, they always refract light no matter what he does. These shields can be moved around at will and projected around other people or objects as long as they remain within 70 feet of him. These shields don't have to encompass anything and could potentially be used to knock someone or something back if it is moved at them with great enough force. This is the only way he can use his ability offensively.Since his ability uses energy he can only give so much of his own to supply the force field, however he is able to draw energy from others through direct contact to either keep it up longer or make it bigger in diameter. The absolute only time he can draw energy is if he's in the process of creating or holding a force field.
LIMITATIONS:- The shield may be 15 feet in diameter maximum if produced with his own energy, 30 with the combined energy of himself and others.
- Needs concentration to work
- Can only draw energy when directly touching others and when in the process of creating or holding a force field.
- The refraction side effect merely camouflages those behind/within it, making them INCREDIBLY hard to see, but not invisible. If you knew to look for him or the shield, you're much more likely to see it. That being said, fog doesn't affect its visibility, but powder, flour, dirt etc. will if they get the opportunity to settle on top of it.
- Can place them anywhere within 70 feet of himself. 70 feet a cut off point, he just can't pass that point for whatever reason.
- Can only create one force field bubble at a time
- Can withstand up to 15,000 pounds of pressure at the maximum sizes (to put it in perspective, the average dog bite contains 269 pounds of pressure) and 20,000 at small sizes (stronger the more compact it is, but suffocation threat dramatically increases). This 15,000 is accumulative (sort of like an HP bar) and it will begin cracking after 12,000 pounds of pressure has been reached. Once the max is reached it will shatter, and that is the equivalent to a mental punch to his brain and a large physical blow. For 20,000 it begins to crack at 16,000.
- CANNOT WITHSTAND ENERGY DRAINING MUTANTS, ATTACKS, OR MUTANTS WITH EXCESSIVE PHYSICAL STRENGTH FOR VERY LONG IF AT ALL.
- Can shatter 3 shields before he blacks out, each is weaker than the last due to mental strain and physical hurt/exhaustion.
- Oxygen Limitation: The sphere blocks out everything outside of it, including oxygen supply. This means that at various intervals he must drop and reform the force field to replenish the oxygen supply if there are people inside of it. The interval depends on the size of the sphere currently being made and how many people are within.
SIDE-EFFECTS:- Physical Exhaustion will overtake him after 20 minutes of continued (not being attacked) use due to energy drain.
- Mental Strain (and severe headaches) form/increase after each time the force field is broken due to the fact that when it shatters it is the equivalent to a mental punch to the brain and a heavy blow to the body.
- Usage in general causes headaches to form. The shorter the amount of time the shield is used, the less of a headache there is. It usually takes about 2-4 minutes of continued use for them to develop.
- Blackout occurs after the shield has been shattered 3 times. There is no exception to this.
- Death by suffocation may occur if he doesn't replenish the oxygen supply within the sphere around him or others. The shield must be dropped for 2-4 seconds for maximization of Oxygen levels.
- Due to the fact that the shields take a lot of physical energy to form in general, he naturally has an abundance of it, making him quite hyperactive. He usually deals with this through intense workouts or joining in with sports, training, and such with the students.
HEIGHT: 6'3"
HAIR COLOR: Dark brown
EYE COLOR: Blue/Green Hazel
MISC:He's got a few scars located randomly over his body. The most significant of which is located on his back, across his right shoulder blade, which he sustained when breaking up a bar fight at age 26. He has this tattoo on his left shoulder.
It's a bit odd to see, but this guy almost always has food in his hand and a smile on his face, like seriously. Also, his tiny rabbit named Ajax can often be seen hitching a ride either on his shoulder or in the hood of his hoodie.
He's a casual dresser, T-shirt and jeans (the occasional light jacket) with some black or brown boots is normally his go-to look. He does know how to dress up, though, and he looks good doing it.
PERSONALITY:My friends call me Alec, so I suppose you can too. I'm British born, but not entirely raised. Exo'ic, eh? Yeah, apparently the ladies love a man with an accent (as I found out only a little while after gettin' here) an' obviously, as a hormonally driven 14 year old, I ran with that bit o' knowledge. I gotta say that I've grown up outta tha', but I'd be lying if I didn't say that I'm not a charismatic fella whose always got eyes out fer the pretty ladies. Overage ones, mind you, I'm no pedophile!
I'm also not obsessed with 'em. Don' get me wrong! Talkin' to a pretty girl can make my day, but I'm focused more on keepin' the school safe and keepin' my hyperactivity in check. Yes, I said hyperactivity. My abilities cause me to have incre'ibly high amounts of energy at all times an' it's hard to deal with! I've gotta work out like crazy every morning an' afternoon jus' so I'm not bouncin' offa walls, and even then I'll join in with the students' sports games or trainin' during the day so I can KEEP the lid on it. I hate feelin' like I'm gonna vibrate outta my skin if I don't do something, but I like the powers, so I don' complain too much.
Ok, so I'm charismatic, like the ladies, am hyperactive as hell (it tends ta bubble over into my everyday life, I'll get excited over th' stupidest crap, I swear), an' what else? Lemmie think for a second. Ah, yeah, I'm a pretty laid back guy who takes his job entirely too seriously. I know it sounds odd, but what can I say? I'm the odd type o' character. I'm open to hangin' out and chattin' with the students around campus, gettin' to know 'em and makin' sure they're alright. I'm a man of the people! Want advice? Hit me up. Need a shoulder to cry on? I'm 'ere for ya. Need someone to get some creepy punk to stop followin' you around? Also me, I'll do tha' any day o' the week. Literally, I've got your back no matter what and I'm a guy you can trust, I promise.
Well, now that I got the "character personality" out o' the way, I can get on with the fun stuff. What are my interests, you ask? (You didn't ask? Too bad, mis amigos.) WELL I ENJOY LONG WALKS ON THE BEACH, POETRY, AND no, not really. I enjoy working out (I kind o' have to with the amount o' it I have to do) and participatin' in training with the students, as I've mentioned. I also enjoy eating because I work off a hella lot amount o' calories during the day. I'm literally a freakin' black hole who eats anythin' and everythin' thrown his way (I may eat a small child if tempted. KIDDING!). I've always got somethin' to eat with me, though, and it's sometimes accompanied by a big ol' bottle o' sweet tea. So, Food and athletics, I gotta add to that list. Hmmm, I do enjoy tinkering with those little remote control helicopter things. It doesn't take much patience to do (thankfully, because I don' have much myself) and it's pretty fun to dive bomb people with 'em. I guess you could say I'm the prankster/jokester type o' guy as well, then.
Country music is another thing I like. It sounds a bit off, doesn' it? I came to the States an' I was thinkin' to myself "What kinda music am I gonna enjoy here?", well it turns out I like the southern melody. And sweet tea, I like that, too. Did I mention tha' already?
Really that's all there is to know about me, so I'll catch ye on the flipside, alrigh'?
SECRET(S):He doesn't admit to people that he has had a slight fear of dogs since he was attacked as a teen. Alec swears he'll get over it one day, but it hasn't happened yet.
FATHER: Griffin, Alistair
MOTHER: Griffin, Olivia
SIBLINGS: Griffin, Monet
WORTHY MENTIONS: A little bunny named Ajax
CHILDHOOD:Alec was born in London, England on November 3, 1992 to Alistair and Olivia Griffin. He was the youngest child, Monet Griffin having come four years earlier than he, and he was treated as such throughout his childhood. Monet didn't like him for the first few years of his life simply because he was new and could get away with almost everything that she herself couldn't. After she warmed up to him, though, they became nearly inseparable. Since they lived on the outskirts of the big city, occupying a little cozy farm dedicated to raising cows, they would spend their days running through fields, memorizing every rock, valley, and tree for miles and getting into whatever trouble they could get into. He broke numerous bones doing this(he was the more adventurous one), but that never deterred either of them from climbing anything imaginable and thoroughly enjoying their childhood together.
He never much liked school as a lad and his grades accurately reflected that. Instead of focusing on multiplication, his mind and active imagination were in the meadows and streams back at home. This did not mean that he was dumb. No, he was quite smart, he just didn't like the idea of being strapped to a desk for most hours of the day with his head stuck in a book. This fact was what prompted his mother to pull him out for homeschooling, leaving Monet where she was since she thoroughly enjoyed public school.
At 12 he convinced his parents to let him join a fighting gym to release all the pent up energy that he had. After discovering it worked, he kept it up with the utmost support of his parents and even began attending various martial arts classes and an MMA training fighting group.
ADOLESCENCE:His attention span grew longer as the years passed by, but he was just as rambunctious as a teenager as he was as a child. Instead of chasing rabbits and squirrels, however, he was chasing girls like the average guy his age. Alec never was one to be shy about anything and that was proven by the several girlfriends (if they could be considered that at that age) he'd acquired by the age of 14. His life was pretty good. The only downside to it all was the fact that he longed for adventure and there didn't seem to be enough of it to go around in the northern part of London. Of course, this is where the "be careful for what you wish for" comes in.
Late in the afternoon of July, Alec found himself facing an angry Doberman mix that he'd been dared to poke by his friends. The animal had seemed to be in a deep sleep, curled up in the corner of a large pen. It was the meanest dog that side of the tracks and he thought it would be a good idea to show off and further awe/impress his friends. Boy was he stupid. The dog charged him and was aiming to kill. The only reason that it didn't get that far was because an invisible barrier formed around him like a bubble and caused the dog to bounce off.
When explaining this to his parents he found out that his mother was also a mutant, one who could create concussive blasts from her hands. She hated the destructive nature of her powers and so had never revealed it to them. Thankfully his father was not too put off by this fact, but he did, after two days of hard thinking, call a special school that he knew, one named Bellefonte Academy, to come and collect his son. It was for the best, he'd said, that Alec learn to control his abilities and so he was off to the United States just six days after the dog attack.
He still dealt with not liking school all that much, but the fact that he got to train and manifest his powers (as well as his fighting ability) made it worthwhile and he ended up graduating a solid B student.
ADULTHOOD:Upon graduating he knew exactly what he wanted to do. Throughout his teenage years and early adulthood (thanks to the nature of his abilities) the only thing he's wanted to do is protect people. Alec started out training to be a fireman and he did rather well, too, but after a couple of years he felt that his future resided elsewhere. At 22 he began taking courses on security, tactics approach, and professional fighting in the hopes of landing a job in which he could use his abilities and natural drive towards protection. It took roughly three years to actually gain his various degrees and credentials. Though he had the ability, he still couldn't find much work and spent a couple of years flitting to one job to another. It was during this time that the SPRITE epidemic broke out, forcing him to hide for a few months in order to avoid contracting it. After that his job search went on.
At one point, at around 26 ears of age, he worked as a bouncer for a popular nightclub and did his job well. Unfortunately, when a large fight broke out, he went to subdue two men and failed to notice a third who knifed him in the back. This was not very appreciated and he ended up quitting as soon as they discharged him from the hospital.
At 27 Alec signed up and began working for a company called Helios, doing not only protection, but hired force and small missions. It was basically a freelancing company, but he didn't mind the work, especially with all of the adventure that came with it. He spent about a year there before resigning. Having been offered the position of Head of Security at Bellefonte Academy, he felt that they needed him far more than Helios did and he so resigned to accept the job.
