No it's not Mac'n'Cheese

”I still don’t get why they they had to move me so suddenly.”

Tiana mumbled her musing to herself while she stood over the stove. It was relatively early still, but she’d awoken on an empty stomach and was only too happy to make herself some breakfast. She figured her hunger was most likely from the fact she’d suddenly had to move all her things from one room to a completely new one in one night. She still wasn’t too sure what they had told her was the reason.

”Wiring? was that it?” Tiana wondered aloud. ”Or was it the pipes? Hell if I can remember now.”

She idly rubbed her eye with the palm of her free hand while still watching the omelette she was making in the pan. She was still groggy, but the smell of food was quickly beginning to wake her up. Cooking always managed to fill her with a little bit more energy, and even now a slight smile played with her lips. Although then she swore she heard something and glanced back. She spotted some girl coming out of one of the rooms, so Tiana figured it was one of her new roommates. She flashed the girl a smile but looked back to her eggs.

”Hey! Sorry, I’m your new roommate. I got in last night because something was wrong with my other room.” She offered with a shrug. ”The name’s Tiana. Guess we’ll be rooming together now.”

Max didn't normally get up early, no she was a more kind of cereal at noon kind of gal but someone was moving about outside. After a few minutes of tossing and turning in the vain hope she would slip back into sleep, Max got up. She was still half asleep as she stumbled out of her room, wearing a Hockey Jersey and shorts. Her hair shot up at an odd angle as she gave Tiana a lazy wave "Hey...I'm..." She gave a small yawn and run her fingers through her hair "Cheese...or Max, sometimes Fritz...Are you making food?" Max gave the girl a quick look over before leaning against the wall and yawning again, a small amount of mist escaping from her mouth.

"Do you...uhmm know what the time is?"

"Hey...I'm...Cheese...or Max, sometimes Fritz...Are you making food?”

Tiana found herself smiling as it seemed like someone else was sleepy too. She had to actually giggle a little at the girl’s appearance, although she herself most likely looked just as bad wearing the baggy flamingo styled pajamas her mother had jokingly gotten her. Tiana nodded and flipped the omelet expertly.

” Nice to meet you Max. Yeah I was just cooking some breakfast. I can make you an omelet too if you want. Go ahead and pick what you’d want in it.” Tiana pointed to the fridge. ”I brought over a lot of my food. Sorry if I crowd the fridge a little, but help yourself to it."

Tiana was definitely feeling extra generous, but she also felt a little bad that she’d suddenly appeared in this girl’s dorm with no warning. Even if technically it wasn't her fault but something with her room, she knew she'd be a little surprised if someone randomly showed up in her old dorm and stayed there without any warning whatsoever.

"Do you...uhmm know what the time is?”

Tiana blinked and glanced down at her watching, squinting a little. She knew she'd somehow gotten up early.

”It’s 7:36.” Tiana announced before a huge yawn hit her and made her pause. ”Feels like it’s 6 or something though. Sorry if I woke you up or anything.”

Max moved into the small kitchenette a bit more, moving towards the counter-top and leaning against it. She shrugged as the girl giggled, her jersey was comfortable and it wasn't she had to make any special effort when she was just staying in her dorm "Suuuuuuuuure...we got any mushrooms? Don't worry about crowding fridge." The girl moved across to the fridge and bent over, swinging the fridge open and poking her head in. She pulled out a small packet of mushrooms and slid them across the counter-top to the Tiana.

"Really, only 7:36? Geez I thought it was 5 or something...ugh..." The girl pinched her nose a second, allowing some more mist to flow out of her mouth, coughing as the last of it came up "Your fine...Sorry about all the..." She gestured around herself "I'm not a morning person."

”Mushrooms? Yeah, should be in there somewhere.”

She gestured with her free hand again before folding her omelet and sliding it onto a plate. Now that she knew she was going to be making another omelet, she joined Max by the fridge to grab some more eggs. Once she had them she started setting up to make another omelet.

"Really, only 7:36? Geez I thought it was 5 or something...ugh…”

Tiana glanced over just in time to see the mist come out of Max’s mouth One eyebrow raised in slight curiosity, although she didn’t immediately contribute it to smoking considering the girl looked like she’d only recently awoke and they were at a school for mutant. She guessed it could be the girl’s power.

"Your fine...Sorry about all the...I'm not a morning person.”

Tiana snickered and shook her head, flashing Max another smile filled with understanding.

”Trust me I’m not one either. I’m surprised i’m even up right now to be honest.” Another yawn hit her and Tiana shook her head. ”Yeah definitely not a morning person.” She muttered before glancing over at Max, her curiosity getting the best of her. ”Gotta ask, your power have to do with smoke or something? Just saying since you puffed some out like a mini dragon.”

"Oh this?" She pointed towards mist "Yeah, I guess you could just call me Spyro...sorry that was nerdy. Yeah but I have manipulation of naturally occurring gasses within the human body..." She shook her head before moving back into the fridge and digging about for some apple juice "You want some apple juice? Or coffee?"

She gave a small smile before pulling open the cupboard and grabbing a pair of glasses "What about you? What's your power?"

"Oh this? Yeah, I guess you could just call me Spyro...sorry that was nerdy. Yeah but I have manipulation of naturally occurring gasses within the human body…”

Tiana had to smirk a little at the mention of Spyro, but Max’s power sounded pretty interesting to her.

”I would’ve said Puff the magic dragon, but Spyro works too.”

Tiana wasn’t very well acquainted with games, but she did vaguely recognize the name Max offered.

"You want some apple juice? Or coffee?”

Tiana glanced over and smiled, giving Max a grateful nod.

”Apple juice please. I’m trying my best to resist turning into a coffee addict.”

She’d seen the affects of that through many of her friends, and Tiana was determined not to join the caffeinated ranks. She still had some from time to time, but usually only when she desperately needed it.

"What about you? What's your power?”

Here it was, the question that made Tiana inwardly cringe and hesitate. She doubted she’d get the reaction she was so used to receiving with Max, but still experience made Tiana wary of actually talking about it. However she eventually did answer while idly stirring the eggs.

”I’ve got super agility. It gives me better reflexes, flexibility, et cetera.” She shrugged nonchalantly, although she was still a little iffy on talking about it. "Definitely nothing really spectacular. Hell when I manifested I didn't think I actually had a power."

"Please don't call me Puff...I have enough nicknames..." She flicked a stray piece of hair from her face before pouring the apple juice. Max paused for a moment when she noticed the small silence which now was between them. Note to self: Don't ask about her power... She pushed the cup towards Tiana before pulling herself up on the counter and sipped her juice "So did you like...destroy your dorm or something? It's just they normally don't put people in different dorms in the middle of the year...so..."

She raised her eyebrows, swinging her legs and staring down the hallway, falling into a daydream. This girl seemed pretty nice, pretty calm, kinda hot. Max shook her head before looking over at Tiana "So...what you into?"

”Sorry, couldn’t resist.”

Tiana was still smirking a little bit from the joke. Honestly there were plenty of other jokes she could make, but she restrained herself for the girl’s sake. She didn’t want to be mean when she’d only met the girl right then. She took the offered cup and took a sip.

"So did you like...destroy your dorm or something? It's just they normally don't put people in different dorms in the middle of the year...so…”

Tiana shook her head and shrugged, unsure herself.

”No clue. I think they mentioned something about the pipes being broken? Something was broken. Honestly that’s all I know. Apparently it was bad enough for them to make me move out.”

Tiana still didn’t know the details of her sudden move, but the more she talked to Max the less she was worried about her switch. Max seemed nice enough in Tiana’s opinion.

"So...what you into?”

Tiana glanced up from her cooking and offered the girl a smile before looking back down.

”Well if it wasn’t obvious: cooking.” She smirked slightly, the reply coming out drily. ”Other than that, gymnastics and yoga. I also like to read and play soccer. Oh, and apparently skinny-dip.” She added with a wry smile. ”Although I blame someone else for that one.” Tiana shook her head and glanced over at Max. ”What about you?”

Max gave a cheeky smile, shuffling closer to Tiana "Skinny dipping you say?" She raised one eyebrow and made her voice sound as dirty as possible "Yeah, I like Soccer too...prefer Ice Hockey but not much call that here...Uhmm...I kinda like to play some bass but can't really find any bands around here..." She readjusted her shirt as it slid down one shoulder. Staring off again Max slid into another daydream.

She swung her legs for a few moments, sipping at her drink "You into music at all? Like play anything? Or any specific genres?" She looked down at the omelette, a hunger now forming in her stomach.

"Skinny dipping you say?”

Tiana glanced over and smirked as she noticed the girl’s expression while she scooted closer. Tiana playfully threatened her with the spatula she was using.

”Down girl.” She teased before tending to the omelet again. ”It was only once after I stumbled upon someone else doing it. Unfortunately her clothes got stolen so I had to get her some more. Then she told me I should try it and well,” Tiana shrugged, smirking, ”I gave it a shot. For some reason.”

She still wasn’t exactly sure what had possessed her to jump into the lake, but admittedly Tiana was a little glad she had. It was fun, if she was being honest with herself.

"Yeah, I like Soccer too...prefer Ice Hockey but not much call that here...Uhmm...I kinda like to play some bass but can't really find any bands around here…”

Tiana listened as she added in everything Max had wanted for her omelet. She glanced back at Max for a moment.

”Well, have you asked around for members or put up something advertising? I’m sure you’d find some people in band or the music room in general. Also that’s pretty cool.”

Tiana wasn’t entirely sure about bands in the local area, but she figured there was bound to be some somewhere. There was a brief silence where Tiana finished the other girl’s omelet and put it on a plate. She pushed it towards Max before turning off the stove and putting her things in the sink.

"You into music at all? Like play anything? Or any specific genres?”

Tiana grabbed some utensils and her plate before she took a seat at the table. She cut a bite out from her omelet before she shrugged.

”Jazz. It’s all my mother listened to when I grew up, so I eventually learned to love it too. I don’t play an instrument but I’ll sing now and then.” She admitted before taking another bite and swallowing. ”What about you? What’s your favorite?”

Max pouted as Tiana waved the spatula at her "Ruining my fun. You sure you don't want to do it again? I mean with all your experience...it could be fun." She gave Tiana a wink before happily receiving an omelette. God it smelt good. Max looked up from her plate at Tiana "Yeah, I put a flyer on the boards but...no one took me on..."

"Uhmmm...Punk, I think...like all sorts myself" Max took a bite of the omelette, giving a small sigh after swallowing "You are one good cook."

"Ruining my fun. You sure you don't want to do it again? I mean with all your experience...it could be fun.”

Tiana openly snickered at the wink thrown her way while she slide Max her omelette.

”Well, you’ll simply have to be very convincing.” Tiana responded while taking her seat at the table. ”That or catch me when I’m apparently in the mood to break some rules or do something stupid. I wouldn’t bank too much on the latter though.”

That was as much of an explanation Tiana could come up with for the first time she’d tried skippy dipping. Lola had simply been at the right place at the right time, or so Tiana thought.

"Yeah, I put a flyer on the boards but...no one took me on…”

Tiana glanced over from her omelet and shot the girl a look of sympathy. Tiana had no idea what it was like to try starting a band, but obviously it came with some difficulty since Max hadn’t been able to form one yet.

"Uhmmm...Punk, I think...like all sorts myself. You are one good cook.”

A pleased silent inadvertently found its way onto Tiana’s face as she cut out another bite of her omelette. She always got a little happier when someone complimented her cooking.

”Thanks. I want to be a cook, so hearing that my food is good is nice. Also, Punk doesn’t seem too bad. Although I’ve never really listened to it that much, to be honest.”
