The gravity manipulator dramatically scrunched her face up at the reply the boy gave. Even though she knew Chris was not pissed, she could not come up with a retort so instead she replied childishly by sticking her tongue out.
The next town? Poppy Lockwood scanned the surrounding desperately looking for a signboard or anything that held information. How in the world did they manage to get on a bus that was heading out of Kalispell? That was probably a lesson and a reminder for her to never get on a bus without confirming where it was heading to and its stops. But in her defense, the girl had not even known there was such a bus that stopped near the academy. She groaned when she could not see something -- anything -- that indicated where they exactly were.
To top it off, the sun was setting and they were losing daylight. Poppy was not a fan of being in an unknown place in the dark. The only thing that was a relief was that she was not alone. Chris was with her. The big muscly man Chris. Hopefully he would not take off and leave abruptly.
"I guess we should then start walking...to the town center?" Even with that being said, she did not know in which direction exactly they should be heading. "You know, I never would have thought to get stranded in the middle of nowhere with someone whom I've honestly only met for less than twelve hours."

"I guess we should then start walking...to the town center?”
Chris nodded and was already heading for the nearest bundle of buildings. he had no idea where exactly he was going, but he figured they could ask around and maybe stumble on someone who actually knew where things were.
"You know, I never would have thought to get stranded in the middle of nowhere with someone whom I've honestly only met for less than twelve hours.”
Chris glanced over at Poppy and had to snicker. He definitely hadn’t thought of the possibility. Weird things like this were situations he imagined he and one of his best buddies would get into. The fact it was some random girl he’d stumbled upon earlier only managed to make things even funnier.
”You and me both, cupcake. Although you’re definitely going to owe me a favor or something considering I’m probably going to be the one paying for everything.”
Honestly Chris had no idea what kind of favor he’d need to call Poppy in for. Maybe if he had a particularly annoying individual he wanted thoroughly pranked. Chris could definitely see calling her in for something like that. He had to smirk at the idea as eventually they reached a more populated area. A few questions to some passerby’s and the two finally found a hotel to stay the night. It was fairly nice, and Chris didn’t see anywhere else for them to stay regardless. However after talking with the receptionist, he went back to Poppy and dangled a single key between them.
”Got so good news and bad news. Good news: we got a room and they've got some cafe thing here we could eat at. Bad news: we've got one room. So you better not be awkwardly staring at me when I get ready for bed.”

Besides her mind filled with the thought of walking aimlessly until they found somewhere or someone they could get information from, the nineteen year old followed the male who seemed like the one who would be leading the two around that night. Without protest, she followed him.
Whilst the girl did not actively seek out for her peers to hang out with, Poppy Lockwood did have a knack for meeting others under the oddest of circumstances. The fight in the parking lot, endangered someone's life, to name a few. Who knew, maybe she and Chris would be good acquaintances and strutting around in suits stranded in the middle of nowhere was their story. "Oh please, I'll buy you ice cream once we find one!" Glad that at least one of them had brought some extra cash, since initially she had thought she would be in the comfort of her own bed that night, but no. The universe just had to have other ideas.
Poppy hang back at the reception area as he talked it out with the person at the front desk since he was after all the one with the money. When he returned, dangling the single key, the girl's hand reached out, thinking it was for her, but dropped when she heard what he had to say. She blinked a couple of times as she stared at him, making her mind up if he was serious or not. "Like there's anything to stare at..." her words trailed off as her eyes trailed over his face to his lean shoulders before they widened, realizing what she was doing, and shot right back up. "You're only hot because you're wearing a suit."
With that, Poppy snatched the key from his hand and turned on her heels, heading for their room.

"You better. I was promised ice cream damn it.”
Although Chris wasn’t actually as concerned about that as he pretended. His first priority at that moment was finding them a place to stay in. Which luckily they did, and Chris was happy that it was decently cheap too. When he brought over the single key he watched Poppy’s expression.
"Like there's anything to stare at…”
Chris was actually surprised Poppy trailed off and looked him over. He only raised an eyebrow and smirked when her gaze snapped back up to his.
"You're only hot because you're wearing a suit.”
Chris snickered and let Poppy steal the key before he followed her. It was clear from his expression that he was beyond amused.
”Sure. That’s all it is.” He grinned cheekily at the girl. ”Just the suit. Otherwise I look like fucking Gollum.”
Oddly enough, Chris didn’t tease her any more on the subject. Romance and him had a very odd relationship he’d rather not think about. Especially since the two of them had to share a room together for the night. Eventually they reached said room, and to Chris’s relief it wasn’t horrible and had two beds. He pushed past Poppy and fell face-first on the nearest one with his arms splayed out. A long drawn out groan left him as he sunk into the mattress.
”God today’s been one of the strangest fucking ones of my life.” He grumbled it into the sheets and turned his head towards Poppy after a few seconds. ”You're insane." He stated it as fact before glancing over towards the door. "We heading down for food or should I see if there’s any damn room service? I don’t want to move a damn inch.”

Well, since she had blurted it out loud, she was not going to deny that the boy did look hot in a suit. But then again, she found that almost everyone in a suit looked hot. This probably stemmed from her fangirl side, watching 'How i Met Your Mother' -- seeing Barney Stinson in a suit almost all the time -- and the show named after it, 'Suits'. Men in suits "See, even you admit it," she said, turning around to look at him. Her tone was sincerely insincere.
The female was relief as well when she saw that the room had two beds instead of one. She was glad that even if she could not tuck in the comfort of her own bed that night, at least she had a bed all to herself. Sharing was not something in Poppy Lockwood's book. Since the boy had staked his claim on the one nearest, she dragged her feet towards the bed nearer to the window. Pushing the curtains aside, she stared out. It was not much of a view, just some buildings and lights really.
She turned her attention back to Chris when he spoke. "What, big man Chris can't handle it all?" she said, chuckling as a small smirk formed on her lips. When he stated that she was insane, Poppy shrugged her shoulders and took it as a compliment. "And you're insane for even agreeing, mister." Her hands gestured to the suits they were wearing before her fingers worked to untie her tie. "Yeah you go do that, I'm going to take a shower." She walked over to the closet to search for a towel and a bathrobe. "Don't forget your ice cream!"

”Well no shit. Suit’s are classy. It’s why I wear them.”
Chris rolled his eyes as he said it, but there was a faint smile on his face. Although it disappeared the moment he fell onto the bed, laying there for a while in comfort. He really didn’t want to get up but his stomach was insistent.
"What, big man Chris can't handle it all?”
He threw Poppy a scowl, but he wasn’t legitimately angry or offended. If anything, he was actually entertained. Through the course of one day Poppy had proved she could hold her own against Chris’s wit.
"And you're insane for even agreeing, mister.”
Chris rolled his eyes again only more dramatically, rolling onto his back to contemplate getting up.
"Yeah you go do that, I'm going to take a shower. Don't forget your ice cream!”
Chris sent her a scowl, but finally pushed himself to his feet again. However he groaned dramatically the whole time.
”Fine. Wash up, you probably reek.” Chris commented as he headed for the door. ”Also I’m totally eating all the ice cream before I get back.”
With that he headed out and fetched both of them some food. To Chris’s surprise they actually did have ice cream. He bought two little tubs before heading back to their room with food and treats in hand. However once he reached the door, Chris paused. He had no idea if Poppy had finished over not. So instead of barging in, he cracked the door open.
”You dressed? I don’t want to walk in on your nasty naked self.”

"Humph, I guess the smell of awesomeness isn't for everyone," she called out to Chris with a pleased smirk. When he told her he would just finish the whole ice cream before he got back, Poppy Lockood simply stuck her tongue out at his retreating back like she was nine years old instead of nineteen.
She waited for the door to shut behind him before she went about to freshen up. She took the fresh towel from the cupboard and brought it in the bathroom with her. It had been a long day. Whilst the day was not particularly jam packed with activities, her time was certainly spent differently than what she thought of when she woke up this morning. Poppy laughed at the fact that she was not even in Kalispell now!
When she heard the boy's voice again, she was just stepping out of the bathroom in her towel. "Oh he does have manners. Give me a bit, I'm just getting dressed." Not wanting to prolong the situation they were in, she quickly got dressed in the white shirt and black pants. It was not a fresh set, but she would have to settle for it for the night since there was not a nice and clean set of pjs laying around.
Afrer that, she took the bottle of lotion from the bathroom and sat on her bed. "Okay, you can stop trying to sneak in peeks now."

"Humph, I guess the smell of awesomeness isn't for everyone.”
Chris didn’t even grace her remark with a reply, rolling his eyes once more before he headed out. Although they hadn’t done anything the whole day, Chris still felt nasty. It was probably just from sitting around in the same set of clothes on some strange bus for hours on end. Besides it felt good to be moving even if he was simultaneously exhausted. A few minutes later he was back at the room’s door waiting for Poppy to answer.
"Give me a bit, I'm just getting dressed.”
Chris huffed dramatically and leaned against the doorframe, waiting for Poppy to give him the “all clear.” He felt a little odd to be staying with some random girl for the night, but at this point he really didn’t have too much of a choice. He was thankful there were two beds; no way in hell w as he ok with sharing one.
"Okay, you can stop trying to sneak in peeks now.”
Snorting, Chris warily made his way into the room. Relief flooded through him when he found Poppy properly dressed, but he only rolled his eyes at her instead.
”Fat chance I want to look at your crusty naked self. I can do without the nightmares, thanks.”
After that he placed her plate of food down and the little tub of ice cream he got her. He’d simply gone for a balanced assortment of food since he wasn’t sure what Poppy ate. Clearly sweets but even Chris knew that wasn’t the healthiest diet. Besides he didn’t want her bouncing off the walls from a sugar rush. He sat down on the edge of his bed and began to eat.
”After this I’m getting a shower and sleeping, so don’t you go peeking.” He threatened with a fork. ”Anyways, we’ll need to find the bus schedule for tomorrow so we can actually get back to Kalispell. You do that while I shower.”

"Pfft, like you're any better," she retorted with a scoff and a roll of the eyes. With the bottle in hand, she squirted some of the lotion out and rubbed it over her hands. Poppy sighed in content when she dabbed some on her face. There was no greater feeling than moisturized skin, despite being in the not fresh set of clothes for the night.
The girl gave a small clap when he placed the food on the table that sat in between and separated their beds. Her hands quickly grabbed the little tub of ice cream. "Ah, you got it!" She beamed up at him. She started peeling the cap off before stopping midway when she realized she should probably eat the solids first. So she pushed it to the side and took the food Chris had gotten for her.
On her own bed, she started digging into her meal. "Honestly, is there like even anything to see?" Poppy said in the most white girl and girliest voice she could because she knew he did not like it. She nodded at his suggestion. Well, he got the food -- not to mention the place they were staying for the night as well -- and it only seemed fair for her to do her part.
"Considering how much you've paid for tonight, I'd say I'm in quite a debt. What kind of owe are we looking at here?"
