Another lonely night, beautiful outside. Nobody was in the library, it was rare that anyone even came near it this late at night. This was when the Librarian Kennedy Snow was at her best. When no one was around. She could get work done, not have to worry about trying to maneuver around people. Truth be told she had worked here for years and most have only caught a glance as they came to the library for their reasons not to see the librarian, she always went home or out to this bistro she liked for lunch, and she lived off campus. So it was rare that anyone had seen her. Normally she would be in traditional uniform that the students wear. So that she could blend in and not many would try and ask her questions and make her talk because she had a bad stutter that at times made her sound really funny and she didn't like when people laughed at her.
But tonight she was wearing jeans and a grey t-shirt. she did have on her glasses, they were not necessary as she was blind, but she figured like in the books she read that they made her look dapper and posh. She started the book return for the night. Picking up a book she ran her hand across the spine. When books came in they always came in with a bar code that when scanned with her phone said the name of the book and the author so she could make a braille sticker with a braille label make she had and she put that sticker on the bottom of the book spines, the rest of the librarians and library workers as well did it although some did not know why.
With a smile on her face she bit her bottom lip and put the book down. Then she walked into her office at the back of the library and came out with a record player. She did not need a cane or a guide in the library she had been here enough she knew where everything was and those that she didn't had braille reminders. When she exited her office with the record player she tripped over the cord and fell back. Her hair came alive and Stopped her from hitting the ground then pushed her back up.
"Thanks"
It flailed around shaking the dirt out of it from hitting the floor as the janitor had not been to the library yet. Then she sat the record player down on the library counter. Her hair grabbed the cord and plugged it in as she was setting it down. Then she walked back to her office. She opened a cabinet and there was a stack of records. Sitting down in front of the cabinet she grabbed the records one by one running her hand over the braille labels she had on the record sleeves. Then she got a bigger smile on her face and closed her eyes then started to sway back and forth dancing to the music in her head.
She took the record currently in her hand and got up and walked into the library again and out of her office and walked over to the record player. Her hair flailed with excitement over the music she chose. Then she took the record out of its sleeve and put just held it up and her hair put it on the record player for her so she didn't have to feel around and find where she had put it. Then when her hair touched it she knew where it was and she flipped the switch turning it on.
Her hair lifted the needle and put it down on the record as it spun. She grabbed the cart of return books and ran her hand across the top ones so she knew where to go. Then she walked toward the A section in the fiction department and ran her hand along the front of the shelf feeling the A nonchalantly then she walked down the isle with her eyes closed. swaying to the
music. Once she got to where she needed to go her hair started to dance. Then her well sculpted body started to move and dance as she grabbed books and put them away running her hand along the books to see where they went. She loved this song it reminded her of the fairytales that she loved in the books and the happily ever afters.
Her hair grabbed books and put them away on the shelf across from her as she danced. As the music picked up so did her dancing to the point where she grabbed her label gun and started to sing into it like a microphone as she moved and her hair danced as it grabbed more books and put them away. She was all smiles and her eyes were closed. Kennedy liked these nights.
