Rhona Amelia Reeves
FACE CLAIM: Faye Marsay
---------------------------------[/div]
AGE: 19
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual
POSITION: College Student
POWER: Electrogenesis
Rhona has the power to create electricity from the electrical currents and impulses in her brain. The amount of electrical impulses which she has in her body is excessive so the spare electrical currents can travel through her nervous system, around her body and can be ejected from her hands in the form of light blue electric bolts.
When the currents leave her brain, Rhona can store the electricity in parts of her body which when touched by someone which can cause paralysis or in some cases small burns. The longer the target is shocked for and the voltage is down to how long the electricity has been stored and how much of it. She also uses her powers for recharging technology by touch.
Her diet of high potassium and calcium helps maintain her high electrical level and helps the speed of the currents around her body.
LIMITATIONS:
Although the electricity can move all around her body she can only expel the bolts from her hands and fingers. When scared or angered she cannot fully control the voltage of her electric blasts and she struggles keeping the bolts on target when doing so. She cannot reuse the electricity that she expels and when she is dehydrated or weak it takes longer for the currents to travel around her body. The further the distance of the bolt from her hands the less voltage and effect it has on the target. When she wishes for the electricity to go around her body she can only keep it in one part for so long until it involuntarily sparks and burns her skin. The more electricity that is stored the quicker it needs to get released.
She has to make sure that her skin is not wet before using her power because both her electric blasts and electric touch can backfire and lead to burning herself and even sometimes knocking her out for a few hours.
SIDE-EFFECTS:
When the electricity is expelled from her hands, her nervous system takes a while to cope with the withdrawal which leads to muscles spasms, finger twitching or random tingling sensations. The effects are similar when the shocks are released from the skin which creates a numb feeling from the area where she was touched. The longer she uses her power, the longer it takes for side-effects to wear of. The more electricity she releases, the more dehydrated she becomes which leads to light headedness or even passing out for days if she does not stop. She has to eat the high vitamin food because if she didn’t her powers would drain her energy.
HEIGHT: 5’6
HAIR COLOR: Blonde
EYE COLOR: Blue
MISC: Rhona is not one to go with the trends, she just wears what feels good. She isn’t one of those girls who would stand in front the wardrobe for ages picking out what goes with what. She does not have any piercings and she doesn’t usually wear jewellery but when she does it is a simple necklace. She has small discoloured blotches on parts of her shoulders and her hip due to burning herself when she kept her powers stored for too long.
PERSONALITY: Rhona is the type of girl you wouldn’t notice in a crowd unless you were looking for her. She is not really bubbly or much of a talker. There are two sides to Rhona- the insecure girl who does not see anyone as ‘real’ friends and looks at everyone waiting for them to screw her over and give her false hope and the girl who like to speak about things she is passionate about with witty remarks and sarcastic undertones in most of her conversations.
She is rather cynical but she is rather good at hiding her, sometimes pessimistic views on things from everyone else. She likes being outdoors, in the fresh air. She prefers to talk to people who seem more like her: quiet with a glass-half-empty attitude. She loves walking and hates being cooped up for too long. Most of her day is spent underneath the trees, sketching in the shade and writing small notes in the books she reads.
She is not really a sporty girl with walking, hiking and cycling the only real exercise she does but she is rather good at cycling because she does it so often. With her quite insecure attitude of herself and lack of trust of others she never really says what she thinks about certain things and she feels the only way to express how she really feels about things is writing them down or drawing in her small leather bound sketchbook.
When in certain situations different sides of Rhona can come to the surface like when people stare at her she could look down quickly and scuttle away or she would look at them and spit a sarcastic remark along the lines of “why don’t you take a picture, it’ll last longer.”
SECRET(S): When she first started have insecurities at Bellefonte she would hide under the shade of a tree and cry silently, she would never talk about it those times because of embarrassment and the fact that she sees that as a weakness to be forgotten about.
FATHER: Devin Reeves
MOTHER: Maria Reeves (nee Kelby)
SIBLINGS: Toby Reeves (younger brother)
WORTHY MENTIONS: Amelia Kelby (deceased grandmother)
CHILDHOOD: Rhona had a suitable childhood. Her father worked in a small construction company but he was never really around and her mother was a loving, kind woman who juggled looking after her, working at the animal shelter to keep the roof over their head and volunteering at the homeless shelter. Maria gave her daughter the middle name of her mother who had died two weeks before Rhona’s birth and when growing up Rhona always heard great stories about Grandma Amelia. The family of three never talked to another of their other family members as Maria was an only child and she never knew her father and Devin’s parents were dead and his siblings, from what Rhona was told by Devin were completely arrogant.
As Rhona got older she saw less and less of her father and every morning when she woke up she would see Maria trying her hardest to hide all the bottles her husband drank the night before and clear away the shards of the broken mirror which fell during Devin’s drunken rants. Rhona may have been 5 but she could tell when her mother’s smile did not quite reach her eyes.
Weeks of Devin’s alcoholism went by without a word from Maria or Rhona until one day Maria could not take it anymore so when Devin was finally sober she told him to pack his bags and to only come back when he realises what is more important.
A year went by and on Rhona’s sixth birthday Devin walked into their lives once again. Maria believed he had changed but Rhona had grown up and looked at him with a guarded expression that night as he slept in their apartment. Nine months later and Maria had gave birth to their son, Toby, but Devin wasn’t there he had left 3 months into her pregnancy and had not heard from his since. That was Rhona first started to learn that not all people can be trusted but she grew a strong bond with her baby brother and Toby loved her just as much.
ADOLESCENCE: As time went on Rhona had grown accustomed to riding round neighbourhoods on her old mountain bike that her mother had managed to scavenge for Christmas, yeah the money was tight in their family now and Maria had to give up helping at the homeless shelter to get another job to pay the bills. Life just wasn’t going their way and it was getting even more difficult for Rhona. Rhona was never bullied in school, mainly because she was good at hiding from certain people that she had learned from experiences in the hall that they would make life a living hell for someone like her. In classes she learned to adapt to a certain attitude where she kept most of her opinions to herself but she never could make it through a conversation without saying something sarcastic.
Rhona was thirteen when her powers started to manifest. She went to school like any other day but by the time the bell rang for lunch she was unnaturally hungry and thirsty that she was getting incredibly light headed and felt as if the floor was spinning. She walked into the cafeteria picked up pretty much anything that looked edible, which was pretty much just 3 bananas, a milkshake and ate them. Everything was fine after that no dizzy spells or light headedness. When she walked home that day she had finally made the mistake of going down the hall which was the territory of one of the school bullies. She didn’t look back, in fear he had spotted her and she had managed to reach the corner of her street before seeing the bully out of the corner of her eye shouting at her to stop ignoring him. In panic she stopped at the street corner, the bully walked right up to her in that moment she felt small prickling sensations travel down her body. He went to touch her uncovered arm to make her face him and he suddenly jolted back and fell onto the ground. He was twitching slightly but she did not care she ran back home as quickly as she could.
Within the month a man had appeared at her door talking about a boarding school to help with her newly found ‘power’. Even though she wanted to stay and help look after Toby she knew it was the best option to go.
ADULTHOOD: Rhona has spent 6 years at Bellefonte and she still has not really improved in the friendship department although a part really wants that to change. Her large interest in sketching has expanded into a dream job of being a book illustrator. Now Rhona is a college student and determined to keep up with her studies and to do her degree in Illustration and fingers crossed it all works out.
SAMPLE: “”just go to sleep” they said, ”it’s easy to fall asleep on a bus” they said” Tanya grumbled as she pulled her messenger bag over her shoulder and half-flopped of the last step of the bus. Four hours on a cramped bus filled with yappy children and their even more annoying parents squabbling over who should tell them off. Tanya pulled her hand through her thick red scalp thinking bitterly in her head imaginative ways she could kill her parents when she got back home just for suggesting that going down the country on public transport in the middle of the holidays to see your aunt that may or may not be dead was a good idea.
As she walked into the bus station she had seen her reflection in the glass door. Oh door lord, good job the make-up kit was in her bag. Her eyes sunken from lack of sleep and lips chapped from biting down on them so hard “I should’ve just screamed at them” thinking of when she caused her lip to bleed when the squawking toddlers started kicking the back of her chair. She zipped open her make-up bag and polished herself up whilst hoping to God dear Aunt Maggie was alive in the first place.
She walked out of the station and saw a VERY attractive guy standing by the door. His hair was dark brown and in a natural short quiff blowing slightly in the breeze, his dark brown eyes searching for someone. Maybe it was the fact that Tanya hadn’t been laid in a while that brought such dirty thoughts about total strangers to her head but she didn’t care. Then by chance the man looked at her he only seemed two or three years older than her. He smiled questioningly at her “are you Tanya?” mutely Tanya nodded. He flashed a white gleaming smile then said “great, your Aunt asked me to pick you up. I’m Mark, her carer” He then took Tanya’s bag from her while she stood there, smile grew on her face. Oh yes, maybe it was worth the trip.
