Callie kept searching, bobbing her head side to side. It was apparent that he wasn’t going to give up anything more. She twisted her mouth thinking of another way to get him to open up. “Have you ever been on a farm?” She asked, she stopped momentarily to look at him. She gave a warm smile and pulled a coat off of the rack. “How about this one?” She asked, feeling as though he may approve, but who knows? “No maybe. Ya should go! Although, I ain’t one to talk I suppose. I ain’t going back. So why should ya?” She said with a giggle. She gave a nod, she wasn’t overly familiar with the east coast and she didn’t really care much but he answered her and that was satisfying.
She scrunched her nose at his response, “What is normal anyhow?” She asked, not really considering any one to be normal. Because to her that was such a relative term. It was whatever you were used to, therefore anything different than what you are used to isn’t normal and immediately shoved into this category of weird. When in reality there may not be anything weird about it.
The blonde’s blue eyes went wide with fascination when he mentioned fire. “FIRE?!” That’s sounds mazin’!! That definitely explains what you were tryin’ to tell me before.” She stopped focusing on the jackets and was completely focused on him now. “So what exactly is it you do?”
Had he been on a farm? “No.” Was she really this desperate to have some small talk with him that she had to end up talking of farms? He could almost pity her. She didn’t know just how terrible he was at socializing. She should have guessed by now but there were some people who just couldn’t help it and had to keep trying no matter what. “Have you?” he said in an attempt to help her, although the tone showed he was not really into small talk at all. He far more preferred they found a coat quick so he could pay and leave this place and not return to a shop until he had no other option but to go to one.
He nodded at the one she showed him and picked it up to try it. As long as he didn’t look too ridiculous, he didn’t mind too much about his coats. He wanted something discreet that fits the purpose you buy a coat for. He was not trying to make any statement with it. As he put it on, they kept talking. Well, mostly her. He frowned a bit once she was done and giggling. “Right,” he simply added to what she just said. Why should he go back? Other than because he knew he had a home there while he tried to make a name for himself, a home he wouldn’t have to pay everything for, he failed to see the advantages. Oh, this was enough of a reason for him to find it tempting at times. But he also didn't want to stay there. He knew he should grow up, like everyone did. That meant he had to live on his own again. It couldn’t always go bad.
When she exclaimed fire, he looked around, hoping no one heard her. He didn’t want to attract any attention. “Yeah, that explains it. It builds up in me and makes my body temperature higher than normal,” he said or more like mumbled. He didn’t want to be labelled a freak. If he could hide for the rest of his life that he was a freaking dragon, he’d do that. Of course, she wanted to know exactly what his power was about. And the dragon comments would follow next. It always followed next. He seemed reluctant, because of that point exactly. “I... blow fire. From my mouth.” Because blowing it elsewhere would have been far too weird and gross.
