Ethan Michael Parks
FACE CLAIM: Chris Evans
---------------------------------
AGE: 26
GENDER: Male
ORIENTATION: Demisexual
POSITION: Physical Education Teacher
POWER: Osteokinesis
The ability to manipulate bone structure by physical contact; to strengthen or to liquify whatever bone particle there is in a body. He will get a slightly burning sensation in the area on his own body he is trying to mend but essentially, under an hour, should he suffer any bone deficiencies, he will be able to heal. With an addition of an hour or two of rest, he would be straight back to normal. However, on another person, his hand would literally have to be on the person for his abilities to activate. Not only that, he would have to actively think about what he wants his abilities to do to the person if not, nothing would happen. His abilities are closely attached to his emotions and in a fit of rage, it could definitely do some damage but as long as he keeps his emotions in check, it doesn’t become too much trouble.
LIMITATIONS:
He is only able to activate his ability if he is in touching distance and he can only manipulate whatever he can get his hands on
Although he can mend his own bones in under a day, he is unable to do so for other people
Because it actually pains him to the point of tears if he uses it too much, Ethan normally lets his abilities lay dormant.
SIDE-EFFECTS:
He needs milk, or calcium supplements practically every hour or his bones get brittle fast
Early on-set osteoporosis
If used too much, it will effect his muscles as well, freezing them up and make him ache all day long
Painful, sharp jabs all over his body if overused
Walking into the warm sun-lit office, Ethan, dressed impeccably in a light blue button down shirt tucked into dark grey pants with a dark grey vest tying the look neatly together, tacked an equally warm smile on his stubbled features as he nodded at the man behind the oak desk. He quickly adjusted the leather gloves covering his worn and scarred hands before holding one up in greeting. “Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to meet with me. I truly appreciate it.”
A nod and a wave of the man’s hand towards the chair had Ethan running a his own hand through his dark blonde hair as he walked towards the offered chair and sat, resting his elbows on both sides of the arms with his back straight.
“It’s quite odd seeing you again under these circumstances, Mr. Parks. Although if I remember correctly, your academic achievements are still on our walls and quite frankly, you have built quite an impressive resume over a relatively short time. A little too...overqualified if you ask me.”
Letting out a small breath through his nose, the boxer gave the man a weathered smile. “Probably not. I think I might have overstated the importance my position held in those companies. But I assure you, I’m not looking for a high paying job, although that could help with my groceries,” he paused to chuckle lightly before shrugging. “I just really need to come back so that I can train and be trained again.”
The man stood up quietly and walked around the table to stand by the window. “Yes. About that. The circumstance in which you left your previous...career. They’re less than desirable, Mr. Parks. That is a risk I’m not entirely certain I would like to take with these children’s lives.”
And there it was. The reason why Ethan took one whole year to even consider coming back to Kalispell. He let out a brief and inaudible sigh. “I am only a danger to those I touch, sir. It was an accident what happened to me in that ring. That is exactly why I need to come back and train. And really, the only qualifications I have is for the job I’m applying for. I hope you understand, I have no intentions of repeating that mistake again.” He didn’t know how else to make himself sound more earnest but he really had nothing left to lose just then. If Bellefonte couldn’t take him back, he didn’t know where else he could go. It was his only hope.
“And I hope you understand, if there is any whiff of unsettling news around you…”
Ethan was reminded then how his abilities had manifested. It had ‘unsettled’ his foster parents that their biological child had complained of his sore arms for days after a particular roughhousing incident with their twelve year old foster child. It had then ‘unsettled’ them that the arm became almost non-existent until they sent both the children to the hospital to get them tested. In total, it took them two full weeks to realise that they had fostered a freak and could only let the authorities handle him. And then Ethan was raised by strangers who poked and prodded him every chance they got to see what exactly ailed him and by the time he was done, the boy was frail and had lost a lot of blood and muscle mass by the time he turned fifteen.
A girl, by some miracle, managed to build Ethan right back up. Pushed him to look at life as she did. Forced him to interact with people after three years of isolation by joining clubs, sports, revolving himself in his scholastic pursuits. Helped him find his passion in martial arts. She even helped him regain his stamina, built back his immune system which then facilitated in his muscle mass restoration and by the time he graduated from college at nineteen with a diploma in physical education, it made perfect sense to the people who knew him that he chose a career in mixed martial arts.
He lost contact with the girl who pretty much saved his life but every time he won a match, he would kiss his fist and press it to the floor of the ring in honour of her.
The short trip down memory lane was interrupted by a hand on his shoulder and he looked up to see the concerned dark brown eyes of the man who had once seen to it that he was given proper care after the ordeal he had to face for three whole years. “Son, are you alright?” He asked.
“I’m sorry. Yes.” He nodded distractedly. “It would be great if I could come back, I would truly appreciate it but I suppose I would understand if I pose an immediate threat to your students.”
The older man nodded solemnly before walking back around to his chair, sitting and looking at Ethan with a withered smile. “It would be a great loss if I didn’t employ you, Mr. Parks. But I do have to deliberate on this.”
Sensing the end of the interview, Ethan stood up and extended a gloved hand which the older man readily took. “That is good enough for me, sir. I do hope to hear from you soon.”
Ethan left the office and subsequently the academy compound and a week later, he received a call from Bellefonte regarding his acceptance as the PE teacher. He might have broken his hip trying to kick his heels in a victory jump.
