Chill Session

[Riley Forrester]

When Riley first came to the school, she had to admit it was absolutely beautiful. The scenery, the little town next door, the school itself- just everything was fantastic. And as she was given the grand tour of it all, she had spotted a lovely courtyard outside with a fountain and everything. It looked real peaceful, and the perfect spot to get some wifi for her laptop. She could probably skype with Lily from there. Sure, there may be some people, but she could pick a corner where no one was to try playing.

So when her opportunity came, Riley grabbed her acoustic guitar and her laptop to make a beeline straight for the courtyard to play. To her relief, no one was really around. "One of the perks of summer break, huh? Everyone's out partying or somthin'." She mused to herself as she picked a bench and booted up her laptop. To her absolute joy, the wifi reached outside, and within a few moments her younger sister was smiling back at her through the screen.

"Yo sis!" Riley greeted once she saw the lighter haired sibling. They looked alike, at least in facial structure. But that was about it really. Riley took more after their old man while Lily looked a lot like their mother. They were also quite a few years apart. Lily grinned back at her older sister and waved into the camera.

"Hey Riles!" The nickname brought a smile to the elder Forrester's face. "You all settled in at your new school?" She inquired. Riley placed her guitar down lightly before holding up the laptop and slowly turning the camera around to get the whole courtyard.

"Hell yeah! It's beautiful here! I think I might actually like it." Riley replied with a chuckle, turning the screen back towards here and setting it down besides her. Lily looked ecstatic.

"Whoooaaa! I am so totally visiting you!" She vowed, making Riley laugh.

"I'd be glad to have you. But hey, I was actually wondering..." She said as she picked up her guitar again and strummed a few practice notes. "If we could have a bit of a jam session? You know, just for the hell of it." She said with a shrug. Riley never really needed a reason to play. She just got an urge sometimes. Lily raised an eyebrow, but she was smiling.

"Which song then?" Was the reply, making Riley snicker. Lily never argued when Riley called her up just for a song. She loved her baby sis for that dearly.

"How bout that one with ah... What was it? Sugar? And the Other song. Love me Like You Do. The mash? You know what I mean." Riley said. Lily blinked for a few second before recognition dawned on her face.

"Oh yeah! Sure, let's do that. You gotta do the third voice though." She pointed out with a grin. Riley only snorted before taking a few more experimental strums and tapped her foot lightly to get the beat. Then the two sisters began to play without a care in the world if anyone heard them. Riley had to focus a bit so she could split her voice up to make the third singer for the song. It was too bad Lily wasn't with the others, but sometimes Riley liked just singing with her sis alone. Lily might get a little embarrassed if someone else popped up to listen to them sing, but Riley honestly couldn't give a damn. She wanted to play and so she would.

As per usual, Rob was enjoying the weather and playing in the courtyard. Actually, in the strictest sense, this wasn't the usual place that he enjoyed himself. Not that he had anything against the school in the broadest sense: he had chosen to come here and whatnot. However, he did like exploring the town and playing in different places. Still, if you were feeling lazy, and/or you wanted to flirt some with coeds, then the courtyard was definitely the place to be.

So he'd been playing the beat up guitar for a while, strumming for a bit. He'd noticed the other girl coming out with the guitar and the laptop. Bit of an odd combo, enough to make Rob look every once in a while. She started talking with someone and Rob mostly focused on his own playing.

Then he heard music coming, talk of a mashup, and soon he heard the playing. Unable to stop himself, he started playing along, adding his acoustic guitar to play along with the melody. He sort of recognized the lyrics, and about the time they got to the gruffer part, the "Sugar" bit, Rob recognized the line and sang the first few words, looking over at the girl with a smile and a pair of raised brows that asked if she minded his rather rude barging into what could be a personal moment.

The music had been going along smoothing when... Well hello, what's this? Riley continued singing as she looked over to see a guy had joined in. Rather than be upset, she simply smirked as she continued playing, singing along with both Lily and now this guy. He was pretty darn good, and even managed to join into the song without much of a hitch in it. Lily looked a little curious as to the sudden add in, but she didn't falter and kept going at a reassuring look from Riley. Eventually the song ended, and Riley grinned over at the random guy. "Hey, that was pretty good man." She complimented.

"Can I see?" Lily asked. Riley obliged and turned the laptop to face him, and the younger Forrester waved at him. "Hello! That was really good!" She said. Riley only chuckled and looked back up.

"Name's Riley." She said with her typical two-fingered salute from her temple. "And this here is my sister Lily. What's your name man? That was a smooth add in you did there."

Rob played along, wrapping his voice and doing at least a halfway decent attempt at harmony with the two girls. Probably helped that he didn't exactly have a masculine, growly sort of voice. His lilting tone blended well enough with the girls', and they didn't seem to mind his butting in on them. He let his fingers keep going, falling back when he was trying to figure out how they were building the song around one another.

"Well, I had some good people to work with," Rob replied, adding a wink. He shifted the guitar, pulling his fingers away slightly so he could rise up and close the distance between them. He dared lean over enough to see the laptop and the girl. He raised his hand to wiggle a few fingers at the girl on the other. "Pleasure's mine, m'lady," Rob said, adding a bow with a slight gesture of the hand at the bottom.

Rob rose back up, an easy smile on his face. "Rob," the young man answered, "and I happen to specialize in smooth," a bit of a jaunty, flirty wink at that, before letting his fingers return to strumming a bit of tune.

His voice was a bit different from the masculine tone Riley was used to coming out of boys, but it was alright. And he seemed to give it a nice shot with harmonizing. Of course, Lily and Riley had been doing this sort of thing for a while, so they blended together as smooth as silk. Still, he did pretty darn good for just jumping in. And then that compliment made Riley grin. "Thanks." She said with a nod. Lily was a bit more affected, blushing slightly and just smiling.

He came closer and then.. Did he just bow? He totally bowed. Like some knight guy from way back when. Riley thought with a smirk as she watched her younger sister get flustered. "O-oh. Yeah..." She managed, which only served to make Riley chuckle. The shorter haired girl looked back at Rob with a lopsided grin on her face.

"Yeah I can see that, from how my sis is blushing." Riley mused in response, which only got an embarrassed huff from Lily. This guy might turn Riley's sis into embarrassed mush at this rate, especially with that wink. "But nice to meet you, Rob. You play often?" Riley inquired instead

Rob figured that he could probably have really learned to harmonize with the girls given enough practice. They did have the whole related to one another bit working for them, and there was only so much an outsider could do when faced with that sort of thing. Still, he had more than his share of practice and experience in these matters, and he was fairly confident. Confident enough that he'd apparently rendered one girl blushing. The younger one, which was perfectly alright with Rob: he saw no reason not to be sweet to girls even if they were likely out of his range.

Some flustered managing and then the present one was grinning at Rob. He grinned back. "Perfectly acceptable response," he replied, his fingers still going. "I play every time that I come near a lady striking enough to get my attention. And two? Well, I couldn't help myself," another wink and he played a bit longer, a few bars, then stopped, seeming to realize something:

"Unless you mean guitar. That I pretty well play all the time. Even without anyone around, to what I'm sure is shock an amazement."

Wow, this guy seem pretty confident, but not in that arrogant jerk kind of way. He seemed pretty cool, so Riley didn't mind him a wink, though her sister still seemed a bit flustered. She always was when someone caught her singing to be honest. Riley had no idea why; she was awesome. But to each their own. Riley only grinned stronger at his flirty response and smacked him playfully on the arm. "Flattery will only work on my sis, bub." She teased.

"Nice. Same here to be honest, although we can't practice together too much." Riley said with a nod to her sis, who sighed a bit at the statement.

"True that. Though it's better in the summer." She added. Riley nodded in agreement and then looked at Rob.

"So, you in a band hotshot?"

Rob took the playful smack well, chuckling as he did. He'd grown used to playful hits when he flirted: sort of was part of the package, and he could tell that Riley still liked him, or a least appreciated his flirting. He adjusted as to be visible enough for both still, without getting too much into Riley's bubble, that is.

"Shame of that: siblings work together well," Rob said with a knowing nod. "Always the downside of the whole having one school bit: some of us end up farther from the people we care about," he gestured at the screen. Technically his own family, or what remained of them, still existed far across the pond. At least it sounded as if they'd figured out a way of at least communicating with one another somewhat, if primarily during the summer. That was generally how things worked.

"A band? Nah," Rob shrugged, "never much been one for singing in groups, though I can harmonize well. 'sides, I haven't been around here long enough to get one of those. Pure solo here. What about you two?" he pointed from screen to girl. "You two one of those sister acts? When you can conquer the distance, that is, and with YouTube, that's a lot easier these days."

RIley noticed him shift, but he didn't invade her personal space, which she was grateful for. He was probably trying to get into view better, so she adjusted her laptop slightly to take them all in. "Hell yeah they do." She agreed with a grin. "And yeah, I get you." She said at his next bit with a nod. Although Riley only cared about Lily to be honest. Rest of her family was butt.

Riley nodded when he said he was a single player. "We're kind of in a band, but not really. It's more like a bunch of soloists gathered together that just jam together whenever we can, if that makes sense." Riley explained. "Although Lily and I are more of a duet than anything to be honest." Riley admitted. "Although we don't really do it for fame, or post it on youtube. We mostly juts jam."

"Hey, maybe you could meet our friends, Rob?" Lily offered. "You could try jamming with us."

The adjustment got a thanks from Rob, along with a nod of the head. It was easier to see the other girl from this end, and Rob was trying to get a bit of a bead on her. Didn't want to insult anyone by focusing on just one part of the conversation. Made all the easier by the fact that they'd focused on music, perhaps the one subject that Rob could focus on even when there were pretty girls present.

They seemed of a like mind regarding most things. Rob had to grin at that, nodding along with the talk about soloist that jam together. He could definitely see something in that, just as he could see something in partnering up with one another. "Never been much for YouTube myself," he offered for a moment.

He then looked to the screen as Lily made her offer. "I'd certainly be willing to jam along. Ain't got much talent besides playing guitar and singing. Could maybe bang something if you don't mind an utterly shite drummer," he grinned at that. "There's something to be said for playing with people that have the love of it all too," he had to grin at that. They were clearly all of a like mind in that regard.
