Carmelita Volpez
FACE CLAIM: Shakira Ripoll
---------------------------------[/div]
AGE: 28
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Homosexual
POSITION: Bellefonte Teacher (Basic Physics)
POWER: Animal Morphing (Feline: Lioness)
Carmelita has the ability to shift into large feline animals, but she normally tends to shift into a large golden lioness that shares her warm brown eyes. In her lioness form, Carmelita has the same strength and speed as a real lioness along with heightened senses. The only difference is she has the intelligence of a human. During morphing, her body releases a large amount of chemicals to ease the pain as her body shifts. However, it still hurts during her change, and her whole body is left aching and feeling sore after she’s finished transforming. In order for her to morph, she needs to focus on feeling her body shift and change into her other form (wether human or feline).
LIMITATIONS:
While Carmelita can morph into felines, she is only able to turn into larger ones. They all retain her blonde hair color for her fur and her eye color. In her feline forms (usually a lioness), she has the same strength, agility, and speed as the feline she morphs into, but with a human intellect. However, she does not have any of these strengthened attributes in her human form. The only beneficial side-effect she has in her human form is above average senses and extreme flexibility.
Carmelita is able to stay in her animal form for as long as she likes. However, the longer she spends, the more animalistic she becomes. If she spends too long in a feline body, she will begin to lose her humanity. Once that happens, Carmelita will be a simple smart animal, and no longer human. The longest she has ever gone in her animal form without losing her humanity is 56 hours.
SIDE-EFFECTS:
In human form, Carmelita has heightened senses and flexibility, which are the only “beneficial” side-effect her powers give her other than her cat-like grace. The rest of her side effects are not as pleasant or helpful.
While in human form, Carmelita can still get diseases relating to felines. She can also get urges that are certainly not human; such as wanting to eat raw meat, having urges to chase after small critters (mice and rabbits especially), and occasionally wanting to run out in the woods without a care in the world. She also unfortunately (although she keeps it a well hidden secret) goes into heat, and often isolates herself until she calms down.
After morphing (Whether into feline form or human again), Carmelita’s entire body aches with soreness from her flesh, muscle and bones shifting. It usually lasts for 30 minutes or more after she’s settled into shape. During her transformation, most of the pain is dulled down by her body sending chemicals to lessen the anguish of her body changing shape. However, she does still feel some pain during it all as her body changes.
She can control how quickly her body morphs, but the faster it goes; the more pain and aching she experiences as a result. Normally, it takes around a minute for her to change normally.
Excessive change can leave her whole body (No matter which form) in tremendous pain and Carmelita herself exhausted. It can even leave her stuck in one form for a few hours.
HEIGHT: 5'9"
HAIR COLOR: Light Blonde
EYE COLOR: Dark Brown
MISC: With looks like hers, it’s no wonder she gets more than a few lingering stares. Carmelita is without a doubt beautiful, and she knows it too. She carries the same feline grace in her human form as she does in her animal form, and it’s noticeable. She walks with a natural sway that often brings attention to her hips.
Speaking of her body, she has an excellent shape; all gentle curves and smooth skin. It’s toned from spending many hours running in her lioness form, not to mention yoga. She has a natural tan due to her Latina heritage, and a pretty thick accent that only adds to her appeal.
But her face is beautiful as well. Her eyes are a warm brown that can draw people in easily, and her smile can practically melt a person. She is a sensual person, she freely admits that, and her looks are just the icing on the cake.
She's almost always dressed in something stylish from her home town, and usually designed by her brother.
PERSONALITY: Although some are intimidated by her beauty, Carmelita is actually quite friendly and approachable. She’s very laid-back, and willing to listen when someone wants to speak with her. She tries her hardest to be kind and patient when asked a question, and she genuinely cares about her students and helping them learn. She is, however, a big flirt, and often teases mercilessly (Wether meaning to or not).
But Carmelita is far from perfect. Although she has a long fuse, her temper is explosive beneath her kindness. When she finally reaches the end of her patience, she snaps like a furious tiger. She shows no mercy when angry, and she can be very hard to calm at times.
She also has a feral side to her that can make her practically predatory in nature. A few things can trigger it, and it essentially makes her far more susceptible to the animalistic urges she gets. If someone begins to act extremely submissive and almost like a mouse, Carmelita can act predatory and dominant, and a little cruel as well. If someone acts in the opposite way- very aggressive or dominant- she’ll take it as a challenge and get very feisty and testy. Carmelita tries her best to calm herself down when she feels this type of mood coming on, but sometimes she just can’t help it.
SECRET(S):
Carmelita actually enjoys going into her lioness form- a little too much. She doesn’t admit this to anyone though. She also doesn’t mention the fact that she does go into heat, and keeps herself away from everyone when she is.
FATHER: Manolo, Volpez
MOTHER: Sofia, Volpez
SIBLINGS: Mariana, Carlos
WORTHY MENTIONS: Tia, her bombay cat, and Esmeralda, her himalayan cat
CHILDHOOD: Carmelita is the middle child of the Volpez family. Carmelita looked a lot like her older sister Mariana, and the two could be mistaken for twins except that Mariana had darker hair. Carlos was the youngest child, and with that the three little devils were born. Mariana was the head of their pack, and always demanded the most attention from their parents. She always had to be in the spotlight, but she was kind to her siblings and did genuinely care for them.
In a way, Carmelita and Carlos were the same way, but subdued. They weren’t as obsessed as Mariana was with being in the spotlight, but they enjoyed being acknowledged. Carlos was the artist of the bunch, and also usually the voice of reason and dry wit. Carmelita was the more approachable one, and also the troublemaker of their trio. She would often persuade Carlos to come along with her when she wanted to do something adventurous. Her adventures normally got her into trouble, and she would then get reprimanded by her parents. Which would then make Mariana slightly peeved since she wasn’t the center of attention, and she would end up trying something even crazier.
But even with their slightly hectic relationships, they did care for each other. Their town wasn’t exactly the greatest, so they had to watch out for each other. They had to stick together to survive, so they did.
ADOLESCENCE: As the trio grew up, they really began to get their own personalities and looks. The two girls really began getting beautiful, while Carlos turned more and more handsome. However, there was one tiny thing that did bring some strife to the trio. As the trio went through school, Carmelita was getting much more attention from the boys than Mariana. This infuriated Mariana to no end, and the two sisters became slightly distant.
Luckily, Carmelita’s bond with her brother was incredibly strong; much stronger than any of Carmelita’s other friendships. And because of that bond, Carmelita was able to share many of her secrets with her brother. One of them had to do with her feelings on romance. She noticed how she just didn’t feel anything for boys, and how disinterested she was concerning them in anything other than friendship. Yet when it came to girls, Carmelita would feel something.
She begged her brother not to say anything, and he didn't. For a time. But as the relationship between the sisters got rougher and more estranged, Carlos had finally had enough. He gathered them both and revealed that Carmelita did not like boys, but girls. Mariana was shocked at first, and then puzzled. But eventually Mariana brought Carmelita in for a big hug, accepting her sister (While also being happy she had no competition).
After that, the trio’s bond was stronger than ever before. However, quite suddenly Carmelita’s ability manifested when she was 14. When the family was at home, Carmelita abruptly shifted into a small lioness right before her parents and siblings’ eyes. The family was in complete shock, and Carmelita panicked at first. However, it was Mariana who held her sister as their parents tried to find out what happened. Eventually, a few hours later, Carmelita changed back, much to her family’s relief. Her parents had her stay home for a few days after the incident, and Carmelita ended up testing out her abilities. As much as she was slightly terrified, she was also excited. She loved lions when she would watch National Geographic with her brother some nights. Now she was able to turn into one.
Around two weeks after that, Carmelita was found by a recruiter. Instead of being taken to the nearest academy, she was taken up to Canada to the Academy of Acton Vale. It was hard initially, since she had to learn a new language fairly quickly. But she did get the hang of it eventually. She had a good amount of friends (And a great amount of suitors), but she mostly maintained contact with her family back home. She missed her siblings dearly, and the feeling was mutual. But Carlos and Mariana (Along with their parents) encouraged and supported Carmelita throughout her years at the Academy, and Carmelita kept on going
ADULTHOOD: Carmelita mostly enjoyed her time at the Academy, although she did visit her family whenever she had the chance. She had also gotten good at controlling her ability and changing into felines, but her lioness form remained her favorite. But she realized that she really enjoyed being in her lions form, sometimes more than being a human. Luckily, her teachers were lax whenever she suddenly ran off into the woods to roam as a lioness for a few hours. She would always return, but some part of her felt like it was reluctantly. Carlos was the only one she ever confessed to; she never mentioned the fact to her teachers.
As she went through her schooling, she became especially interested in teaching. She adored physics, and figured that was what she wanted to teach. When she informed her siblings, Carlos was the most supportive of the idea. He figured Carmelita’s personality would be perfect for the job. So, with that in mind, Carmelita attended college to get her teaching degree.
As Carlos expected, she passed with flying colors. She planned on teaching at the Academy, and did for a while, but then it burned down. Carmelita was devastated. She wanted to teach other mutants like herself to help them get by in the world with the rest of society. That was when she got an invitation to go to Bellefonte Academy. Interested, Carmelita made all the arrangements to move, fulfilling everything she needed to do before heading down to The United States.
Now she lives in a small house slightly outside the campus and the town, with her two cats Tia and Esmeralda. Meanwhile, her brother became an accomplished designer, while her sister went on to become a supermodel. The three siblings still keep in touch with each other and their parents, and occasionally visit each other.
SAMPLE: “How about that one?” Carlos asked, pointing with his pinky as he drained half of his Diet Coke. Both Volpez sisters glanced over. It was a tall man, with bulky build, chiseled chin, and stylish hair.
“Ooooo… I like.” Mariana said with a grin, watching the man walk by, completely ignoring her sandwich. Carmelita only shrugged and glanced back at Carlos, raising an eyebrow and smirking.
“Are you serious, Carlos?” She asked teasingly. Carlos only raised an eyebrow at her.
“What about…. That one?” Mariana said, drawing both of their attention. Carmelita looked over to see a petite brunette, with good curves and a good walk. Carmelita smiled slightly and glanced at her sister.
“Much better.” She said with a laugh, leaning back in her chair. After that, the trio simply went back to eating their lunch, enjoying each other’s company. It was nice, but it couldn’t last for too long.
“You know we’ve got to return home soon.” Carlos said, ever the voice of reason. Both sisters groaned.
“Oh come on, Carlos. We’ll head back eventually.” Mariana said with a dismissive wave of her hand.
“Live a little!” Carmelita added with a grin, stealing a fry from Mariana’s plate. The elder Volpez glared at Carmelita, but she was smirking slightly too as she scooted her plate away.
“Little thief.” She mumbled, eating her sandwich. Carmelita only smiled innocently and shrugged before turning back to Carlos.
“Look, if you’re that worried, we’ll only stop to get ice cream. Then we go home. That sound good?” She noticed how Carlos’ eyebrow twitched slightly in interest. He was silent for a while before breathing out through his nose slowly.
“….Fine.” He muttered, earning a triumphant grin from Carmelita. “But only that, and then we go home.” He added with a raised finger, pointing it at his sister. Carmelita nodded and gave her equally grinning sister a high-five.
“Don’t worry Carlos, we promise."
