the red light on the camera flashed and Jimmy rolled eyes, of course they recording this shit. Jeremy glared at Jimmy from across the table. The man had been following him and his ex friends for awhile now. It’s surprising that he could even contain the rage without shaking. Exactly how many times had he managed to escape the man?
“Do you know why you're here Mr.Simmons?”
Jimmy sat there picking at his nails even though he was in handcuffs, it wasn’t the first time he had been in cuffs. It also wasn’t the first time that he had seen Detective Baker, he smirked at the middle-aged man before he shrugged his shoulders. It could’ve been a number of reasons, illegal racing, auto theft, theft, breaking and entering, defacing public property, Aiding and abetting, resisting arrest. There’s been a steadily increasing list since he was like six or seven. However no, he was there because he had passed out from use of his ability and was thought to be drunk or something.
He was taken in for public intoxication it didn’t help that some bum had spilled alcohol on him to begin with.. It had just appeared randomly one day, he had tripped an alarm and the sound was blaring in his ears. In a moment of panic he had shouted for the alarm to turn off and it did. He had spent two weeks after practicing his knew found skilled discovering with intense concentration and a computer he could turn off, hack security systems, and atms while pretending to be a regular everyday tourist. Drinking coffee at coffee shops, and pretending to need the wifi (okay he did)
“I don’t know, maybe because you’re still trying to pin something on me with no proof, I have my papers and passport. I’m legal.” He said rolling his eyes, he knew why he was here, it was because he came up in the system as a runaway and had a few unjustified (okay maybe there were justifies) warrants. It wasn't his fault he was already across the border when the old bats filed the report.
“No Mr. Simmons, and I’m not here to play games, where are the rest of your friends huh..Did they leave you behind too?.”
Jimmy glared at the idiot sitting across from him, how dare he talk about something that he didn’t know. Or perhaps he did, but still the guy was barking up the wrong tree. Did he really think that this wasn’t a game? Life was a game and it was survival of the fittest, you had to take what you got and nothing was unattainable unless you were too scared to grab it.
“I don’t even know what friends you're talking about, and family...forget family. Family don’t leave each other behind. I've never had a family and you know it. You seen the report, they left me at the orphanage and I lived with some old people for awhile. So what you gonna arrest for me running away because that’s only thing they got on me. It’s not my fault the old bats got me a passport, you should take it up with them.”
He sat back with a smirk, just watching the tell tale signs of red on his face. Family or not he wasn't gonna rat out his old friends. He knew that Cage ran things and he couldn’t change the way things happened, He wouldn't ruin things for the ones who actually believed they had a family thing going but he wasn’t listening to that bullshit. Family looked out for each other no matter what and Cage had taught him that you couldn’t trust anybody, even your family.
“Now, Now Mr. Simmons, I have a stack of reported break ins from upscale vacation homes, stolen items and broken alarms. That just seemed to land on Sergeant Gomez’s desk, when you entered the country. Wanna tell me about that?”
Jimmy smiled cheekily at the detective “Seems like you have a little bit of a theft problem, wouldn't you say?” He wasn’t going to say shit and they both knew it. He knew what the detective was hinting at and so what. Maybe he did break into some house, steal some food...sleep in a couple of beds and take a leather jacket or two. He also found a couple of Rolexes, some pearls and a kick ass necklace that Jade would’ve taken. It was her style so he just took it in her memory, he couldn't bring himself to sell it until he realized that it would be incriminating on his person.
“Look, do you have me on any cameras? Fingerprints?, any descriptions of me, or eyewitnesses just because you have a hunch doesn’t mean shit.”
Jimmy sat back in his chair and folded his arms. He wasn't even sure why he had the jacket. Technically it wasn't even that cold but he was trying to hide his tattoos, there was a lot of him and he didn't want to be recognized. He had gotten them on a whim, he usually did things on a whim.
“Got something else to on you though, you were caught a leather jacket, just like the one stolen from a house tonights ago, a wicked looking dagger, and way more money than a runaway would should have.”
The detective put a plastic bag container a dagger and an envelope containing money on the table. He did not however have, Jimmy's laptop which the boy had ditched earlier in the day. He was planning on buying a new one, however he was arrested.
Jimmy looked at him with a smirk and shrugged his shoulders “Simple, I sold the laptop that those old bats gave me, you'd be surprised how far the Us. dollar goes here. I bought the jacket and the knife I picked up off the streets, A runaway such as myself has to defend themselves. Is that all you got, a dagger and me trying to warm myself up?” He knew that he wasn’t seen by anybody or things, all the alarms had been broken, through his new found abilities, it was awesome.
“Ah, Ah, See I know you’re secret...I know exactly what you can do with that little ability of yours and while I can’t make a case, If you ever cross my path again, you'll be behind bars.”
The detective left and Jimmy sat there for three hours before he got bored and kicked over the empty chair. Some guy walked in and explained something about a mutant school in Montana and how was going there no questions asked or complaints. Also some comments about how if it was up to him he would be locked away forever, or at least until he was eighteen. After returning his stuff minus the dagger he was lead to car but not before he threw a smirk towards Detective Bakers. Showing up at the Academy was incredibly boring, he wasn’t sure exactly what he was supposed to do. But montana was a new place and he could definitely find some place to rob.
